DO YOUR BIT FOR CHARITY September is always a busy month – the children return to school and Doncaster hosts it iconic St Leger festival where it is reputed that ‘winter comes on the tail of the last horse of the Leger’. We’ll be flying the Ladbrokes St Leger flags across the town and we’re also putting forward a Visit Bawtry prize for the ‘Best Dressed Lady’ on Ladies Day and new for this year; ‘Best Dressed Gent’ on Friday of the meeting. We’re active supporters of the British Heart Foundation and a coffee morning is to be hosted at Bawtry New Hall on Saturday 26th September from 10am to 12 noon. Everyone is most welcome and why not take part in the ‘Bag It. Beat It.’ campaign and bring along a bag of quality unwanted items such as clothing, books, games, DVD’s, shoes and children’s toys. Every bag donated will help fund lifesaving heart research. Looking ahead, October will see the return of the BRA bunting charity initiative– when unwanted brassieres are hung across the town to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. All unwanted bras will be gratefully received – look out for the pink drop bins across the town or drop them at ‘& She Knows’ in The Courtyard. Let’s try and make it even bigger and better this year!
The Antiques History Group meets 2-4pm in the New Hall in Bawtry each Tuesday from September to April and also at Gringley on the Hill Village Hall at the same time on Wednesdays. Other classes can be found in Cantley on Tuesday 10am12noon and Retford on Wednesday 10am-12noon

The traditional street market will have something for all the family and we look forward to sharing more details with you next time. Oh, and if you’re recruiting or you’re looking for employment, don’t forget to visit the Bawtry Jobs page on Facebook. And finally, good luck to all the team at Robinsons of Bawtry who host their 22nd Annual Charity Fashion show in aid of Yorkshire Cancer Research on Sunday 4th October at China Rose. “On The Record” 80 Years of history and music from the dancefloor for Doncaster’s Dancehall Doncaster is set to see its history retold in a major new stage show telling the story of the town’s people who have lived, loved and danced there. Dancehall charts the story of Doncaster from the dancefloor and will be performed at Cast, Doncaster from Friday 11 – Saturday 19 September. Bringing to life dance floor crazes and fashion trends from across the decades, Dancehall shares real hidden stories of Doncaster’s people. First dances at the Co-op Ballroom through to smooches at Top Rank. Boy on one side of the tracks meets girl from the other at Romeo and Juliet’s, whilst The Beatles play St James’s baths, the Sex Pistols storm Outlook and Bowie rocks Silver Street. Broken heels at Seventh Heaven to broken hearts at Parklands. From dancing through wars hoping soldiers would come home to keeping going through the strikes. It’s the moves made through sixteen Prime Minister’s and massive social change. It’s throwing down shapes when your horse won at the St Leger and Dads awkwardly dancing at that street party for the Queen’s coronation. It’s children in Saturday morning classes stepping on stage for the first time, and revellers on Saturday night floors having one last drink. With a soundtrack playing the music of our time, spanning the last eighty years and featuring a professional cast alongside a large community

ensemble, Dancehall dances through the decades to revive memories and relive Doncaster’s history. The show builds on the success of Cast’s first home-grown productions, The Glee Club in 2013 and Barry Hines’ Kes in 2014, incorporating stories from the heart of the community. Cast’s Director Kully Thiarai comments: “As with Barry Hines’ Kes and The Glee Club, professional performers join forces with community performers to shine a light on Doncaster and its story in a new production called Dancehall. Our research has brought us in touch with local historians and individuals who have been preserving stories that have become the foundation of the show.“ The show will begin in the mid-1930s reflecting how the prosperous market town of the 1920s and one of the largest coal mining areas of the early twentieth century developed through the war years, the rock and roll years, the Swinging Sixties, the strikes of the 1970s and ‘80s and into Tony Blair’s New Labour through to the present day. Tickets for Dancehall on Friday 11 - Saturday 19 September are £17 / £14 concessions available from Cast’s Box Office on 01302 303 959 or castindoncaster.com T

The play is big, brassy and boisterous. It’s also very funny, deeply unsettling and an indictment of Butterworth’s suggestion that something has gone deeply awry in the heart of England. The play is laced with teasing references to English lore: to King Arthur, Titania, to folk songs, Druid beliefs and tales of giants. Bawtry WI In July we had Jenny Stacey come along to talk about Family Foundling. Jenny explained the history to the formation of the Foundling Hospital in London by Thomas Coram and his wife Eunice in 1739. This was London’s first home for babies whose mothers were unable to care for them. Each child was baptized and given a new name. Mothers often left a token which could be used to identify their child if they later returned to reclaim them. A foundling called Gustavus Wells had been discovered during researching family history. He had been called Harry Rowley when he was left at the hospital. He subsequently moved to Ackworth in Yorkshire, became an apprentice to a farmer, then later married the farmers widow. He was the Great Great Great Grandfather of Jenny. There was no meeting in August, but on September 16th we have Kim Sutton coming to show her Arty skills. We meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month in The New Hall, Bawtry at 7.15pm for 7.30pm. A warm welcome awaits. T

STRESS FRACTURES Stress fractures have been causing quite a lot of stress lately for some of our patients! A stress fracture is a small crack in a bone and may be referred to as a hair line fracture. A stress fracture is caused by overuse resulting in repetitive stress that builds overtime. Because of this, stress fractures are more common in runners and athletes but can also affect people who have previously been sedentary and suddenly begin exercising. Unsurprisingly, the bones most commonly affected are those that bear weight such as the shin bone (tibia) and bones of the foot (navicular and metatarsals). Stress fractures affect women more than men, are more prevalent in winter due to a reduction in vitamin D absorption and having osteoporosis increases your vulnerability. Symptoms include pain made worse by weight bearing and eased with rest, swelling and an area of tenderness over the bony area. An x-ray is the most obvious test to confirm the presence of a stress fracture though if the x-ray is taken very soon after the injury has occurred it may be too slight to be observed. Once the healing process is underway (say 2-3 weeks later), the x-ray can detect the laying down of new bone. Treatment is, somewhat frustratingly, rest. This is the only option and the rest period will need to last for between 6-8 weeks. After this, pain free activity levels need to be resumed gradually – perhaps increasing by 10% each week.

Our Next Production is:
‘Alarms and Excursions’ By Michael Frayn. From September 30th to October 3rd 2015. SYNOPSIS: These eight playlets examine the difficulties modern technology has added to life – with, for the audience at least, hilarious results. In “Alarms” two couples embark on a dinner party which is doomed to failure as, one by one, laboursaving devices and even furniture become hostile. “Doubles” sees two couples having similar problems in adjacent hotel rooms. In “Leavings”, the dinner party is amusingly revisited. In “Look Away Now”, passengers ignore their airliner’s safety lecture. “Heart to Heart” deals with the impossibility of communication at a noisy drinks party. “Glassnost” presents us with a political speech sabotaged by a harassed autocue operator.
“Toasters” shows the problems of trying to eat and work standing up at a function. The last play, “Immobiles” is acted out entirely over the phone, as the German guest arriving at the airport, and the other hosts meeting him, try desperately to locate each other. Tickets will be available from August 31st from the new Box Office on 01302 710825. The Box Office will be open every Monday and Thursday 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Outside these hours an answer machine will be in operation. For more information: Contact Paula Hadley on 01777 818568.

community Hello from Mayflower Sanctuary, the year is flying by and as our 3rd stage of building work is getting underway we must apologise for the dust and disruption which we hope isn’t affecting everyone too much. In July we held our annual dog show on Tickhill recreation ground. We all panicked at the start of the day as the heavens opened, but it turned out fine and sunny, thank goodness. Lots of people turned up to support us, showing off their beloved dogs and it was such a dream to see all of the dogs that had been re-homed looking well and happy. There was lots of stalls, not forgetting the amazing cake stalls which I could not resist. We also had a Doncaster Street collection in July, it was great to get some of our resident dogs out for the day too, they all behave impeccably. A big thank you to all the volunteers that turned up to chat to people and rattle tins. Likewise thank you Doncaster for your support it is always heart-warming to listen to everyone’s stories about their beloved pets. We would like to say a big thanks to Asda at Balby store for nominating us for their green token charity event. We are always very grateful when a cheque drops through the door. So thank you. Another great support to us are Pets at Home in Doncaster we are allowed to do bucket collections regularly at this store and they are very generous in their support to us, so again thank you. We have a large selection of small, medium and large dogs all shapes and sizes so if you are considering adopting a dog please come and chat to us. We will need to come and carry out a home check before you take your chosen dog home, just to make sure that you have chosen the right dog and you have a high enough fence just in case you have chosen an escape artist ! Our cattery also has some wonderful cats and kittens, and again if you would like to adopt a cat please come to see us and
Finding a forever home have a chat to Penny who is our cat manager. She will be able to tell you about all her cat personalities.

If you have any time to spare you could do so much to help us by volunteering to join us on street collections, also dog walking, gardening around the Sanctuary and much more. Please call 01302 711330 and find out more. Could I thank people that keep leaving items in my garage for the Sanctuary, no-one ever leaves a name but drop off washing powder, washing up liquid, black bags, dog food, cat food, beds and lots more. It is always a lovely surprise, and very generous of people to think of us. We have a lovely corner of our new Reception dedicated to a shop area, there is everything that you would need to take care of your dog or cat, including leads, toys and bedding, scratching poles etc. Also lots of lovely gifts, so take a look while you are there I think you will be pleasantly surprised. Please remember dogs die in a summer in hot cars, even with the windows open. Also remember if you are jogging or running in hot weather dogs are not equipped to deal with this, so please leave your dog at home. It is also illegal to ‘walk’ your dog whilst cycling which I see often. Not only is it dangerous but does anyone really believe their beloved dog really enjoys this?

garden view
By Rachel Leverton
Autumn Equinox September 23rd is a special date in the gardening calendar. The sun is directly above the earth’s equator and day and night are exactly the same length. Because of this, September is a pivotal month in the year: it heralds the end of summer and the start of autumn. It’s also a pivotal month in the garden. It’s a time of endings but also a time for rejuvenation. Summer plants fade and enter their dormant period, while leaves take on autumn hues: yet autumn crocuses push up through the soil, while bushes and trees are laden with fruit. This dual aspect to September means that on the one hand I find myself preparing my garden for its long winter sleep, but on the other I’m planning ahead for next spring. So, while cutting down the perennials which have finished flowering I’m also checking to see if any have become too big for the space they’re in. If they have, I’ll divide them now, while the soil is still warm, and move them to another part of the garden, where they’ll flourish when the new growing season begins next year. Likewise, I’m planning where any new trees or shrubs will go. I’ll get them in during September and they’ll be off to a flying start come Spring. My garden is chock-full of Spring bulbs already but I can always find room for some more. While I’m at it I’ll be
planting a few in pots so I can be sure of a great spring display on the patio. Meanwhile I look upon all the weeding, tidying and leafraking that I’m doing as an investment in compostable materials for my bin and my leaf-litter pile, which when left over the winter transmogrify into rich, crumbly compost and leaf-mould respectively. When dug into my soil in early spring it will give my garden a much needed shot of energy with which to kick off the growing season. The autumn equinox is the gardener’s equivalent of the New Year. It’s a time to reflect on the past season while resolving to do even better in 2016.
Autumn Lawn Care Sweep the leaves. I put mine in a perforated dustbin liner, in a dry spot and wait for them to rot down. Rake Use a wire rake to pull out all the dead moss and thatch. I put everything I collect into the compost bin. Spike lawn Push a garden fork right through the lawn into the earth below then rock it a little to open up the lawn’s surface and allow air in. Brush with top dressing This is available from garden centres. Brush it into the holes with a stiff broom. To make your own top dressing, mix 3 parts top soil with one part peat substitute and 6 parts sharp sand.

BAWTRY RESIDENTS GROUP (BRG) BRG was formed at the end of 2014 to work alongside the Bawtry Town Council (BTC) and the Bawtry Retail Association (BRA) and act as a ‘voice’ for Bawtry residents on issues they feel need addressing including parking, speed limits, routing of HGV’s through the town, pedestrian crossings and planning matters. It is believed that there is a need to actively engage with the community and to effect the necessary improvements in the town for the benefit of all. BRG will continue with its attempts to facilitate these actions. Good working relationships are now starting to be developed with BTC. It is hoped that, in the future, these community relationships may be developed directly by the Council itself through regular Community Forums. It should also be mentioned that an excellent relationship has been developed with our local Doncaster Ward Councillor (Rachael Blake) who is a member of our Group, and is working tirelessly on behalf of Bawtry residents. The development of a Neighbourhood Plan for Bawtry presents an ideal opportunity to bring the community together and seek the views of residents and businesses within the town. The process of consultation will continue over the next 18 months or so. If you are interested in getting more involved and joining the Steering Group (which has been set up by BTC), then please contact David Kirkham on 01302 710899. BRG is currently looking at various actions necessary to improve the image of Bawtry, particularly along the major routes through the town. Those identified are: 1. Improved town boundary signs 2. 30 mph speed limit extended to the town boundaries 3. Improved grass cutting standards and street sweeping 4. Litter-free environment, with appropriate litter bin provision 5. Quality flower beds/planters, and possibly hanging baskets on lamp columns 6. All fronting hedges adequately maintained – particularly to improve footpath widths and to remove obscured signage 7. Highway verge maintenance – particularly fronting Bawtry Hall & the war memorial 8. Potential Landscaping to Hudson’s Yard frontage 9. Removal of old, untidy, guard rail at corner of Ingham Road 10. Edging back of verges to reinstate proper footpath width Following many complaints about litter and dog fouling in various areas throughout the town, it has been suggested that BRG organise a regular community ‘litter pick’. We do already have some volunteers, but please let us know if you are interested in getting involved. BRG is steadily growing in numbers, and meets on a bi-monthly basis (on the last Thursday of the month). The next meeting will be on 24 September at 7:30 pm in the Crown Hotel (Leger Suite). The Group is still functioning without a Secretary or Treasurer. It is also likely that both John Linsley and David Kirkham, having been elected to the Town Council, will likely stand down from their positions of Chair and Vice-Chair at the AGM on 26 November. Members have expressed a wish for BRG to continue, so please consider standing for positions at the AGM. If you are a Bawtry resident and care about your town, then please come along to the meetings. Let’s continue to develop a community spirit and start working together! For further information about the Residents Group phone either John Linsley (01302 374009) or David Kirkham (01302 710899). Bawtry Town Council - SEPTEMBER 2015 Newly elected councillors have undergone training to understand the roles they undertake, the councillors’ code of conduct and the workings and responsibilities of local government. Our new Ward Councillors representing Rossington & Bawtry ward attend BTC meetings and assist with dialogue with DMBC. Ward Councillor Rachael Blake in particular has been very active in pursuit of S106 monies promised to the BARS project to replace the old pavilion on the Memorial Sports Field. This money will support a number of much higher grants from various bodies to ensure that this project goes ahead in 2016. Rachel has also been very active in support of action for speed reduction on Station Road and we have a promise of 20mph limits during the time when children are travelling to and from the School The petition regarding Station Road has gathered momentum and we thank residents for their support on this very important issue. Following efforts by DMBC, the Mayflower School and the town council there is now a crossing warden back in post which should improve the situation. Speed reduction on all the major routes through the town is an important issue for the town council. As part of this initiative we will continue dialogue with DMBC regarding the extension of the 30 mph limit on Doncaster Road as far as Bawtry town boundary. Community Policing PCSOs attended the meeting in July along with their Inspector and reassured BTC that they will try to attend council meetings on a regular basis. There was a useful exchange of information and views and we must be mindful that the police service have had cutbacks in funding as with many DMBC areas. We are also to receive a visit from our Police and Crime Commissioner at our October meeting which we look forward to. DMBC Local Plan BTC had a presentation from Teresa Hubery, DMBC
Planning Officer, when she outlined the purpose of the plan and how our Neighbourhood Plan would inform the plan. This forms planning activity in the DMBC area and takes account of the needs to each community in the area. The information she brought to the meeting, along with further information on the DMBC website, will help us with the formation of our own Neighbourhood Plan. Comments on the Local Plan proposals have to be with DMBC by early September. The town council will be making a submission but we would also encourage all residents to make their own individual comments to DMBC. Neighbourhood Plan The group tasked by the council to develop a Neighbourhood Plan has started the work and will be working hard to bring it to fruition, hopefully towards the end of 2016. Many thanks to the residents who have already responded to the questionnaire and it is not too late to join in. The group has produced a short questionnaire which can be found in the community library and residents are encouraged to complete it with their views and submit it to the group via the library. If you are interested in becoming involved with this plan please contact David Kirkham at davidkirkham@gmail.com. Litter and Dog Fouling Litter and dog fouling is becoming a particular issue in Bawtry. It has recently come to the attention of the council that the matter of dog fouling on both the MSG and the Wharf Street Play area is becoming a problem. Both of these areas are used by children and dog owners must take responsibility to clear up their dog’s mess in these areas. As such we will conduct a campaign to address this poor behaviour from some of our residents by improved signage and activities which will change the culture of dog fouling and litter in general in our beautiful town. We would encourage all residents to be vigilant and report any known offenders.

Join the rainbow eruption of joy and dance coming to Doncaster in September Doncaster town centre is set to be awash with colour as the town’s theatre team up with international street theatre makers Artonik for The Colour of Time – a free outdoor performance that brings a rainbow eruption of powder and dance to the streets of Doncaster on Saturday 19 September. France’s Artonik have performed all over the world and their latest production The Colour Of Time has clocked up thousands of miles before making its way to Doncaster. And there’s a chance for you to be involved. Cast is inviting anyone aged over 9 with an interest in theatre, dance or performance to join the professional performers in this massive processional dance from the centre of town to Sir Nigel Gresley Square.
Participants are invited to learn a dance routine to help bring the show alive. There are videos to help people learn the choreography, and it doesn’t require any previous experience. The Colour Of Time is a stunning reinvention of the Indian Holi Festival where, each year, people throw gulal powder in the air showing great joy, celebrating unity, and acceptance of diversity through colourful embraces. In a huge dance parade, dancers and musicians will move in a choreographed parade through Doncaster town centre towards a finale on the Sir Nigel Gresley Square outside Cast. Graham Whitehead, Head of marketing and communications at Cast comments: “This is a great way for people from our local communities of any ability, who love to dance or express themselves in performance, to be part of a joyful and dynamic celebration. We’re delighted to bring outdoor theatre specialists Artonik and the spectacle that has been the highlight of festivals around the world since 2013 to paint Doncaster’s skies”. If dance isn’t your thing. There are also opportunities for community volunteers aged over 16 to work with Cast’s professional team of ushers to make this event something that Doncaster will never forget. Anyone interested in taking part as a performer or volunteer can contact Cast on 01302 303 959 or visit castindoncaster.com. T
Misson & Springs WI Most of us were back from our holidays for our August meeting, to enjoy some post-vacation relaxation with an evening of tai-ji, meditation and Chinese folk dance led by Shan Handley. We are now looking forward to our autumn programme which will begin with a stimulating lesson on how to make cocktails with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic mixes demonstrated by Oliver Clark from Coco Ice in Bawtry. All we have to do is turn up and sample them! You will be most welcome to join us at this or any meeting as a guest and we hope you may then wish to join us on a regular basis. Please contact our secretary, Lynda Redfern on 07796975578 for more information, or turn up on the last Wednesday of every month, at the Community Centre, Vicar Lane, Misson, where you will be made very welcome. Methodist Minister It’s free. Take it! Dear Friends, I wonder if I can continue to discuss issues regarding the season of harvest. September is called ‘Fankwa’ in my local dialect. It may be translated as ‘take it free’. In Ghana, September is part of the harvest season just as in the U.K. Hence, a bumper crop and fishing season calls for people giving lots of free food to friends, relations and the under–privileged. In days gone by, it was one of the ways of making sure that each member of the society was well catered for. On the other hand, freebies are rare in many cultures now. Most of us even question people’s motives when they hand out gifts to us let alone freebies. In one of the communities I serve as a Minister in Doncaster, I remember someone telling me off when I tried to help the person. The person’s response was, “I’m not a charity case so don’t let me feel like one”. Yes, you are not a charity case and we don’t want you to feel like one. However, Christians are encouraged to help each other in order to make people feel safe and secure. As part of the harvest celebrations going on in our many church situations, I wonder if I can take this opportunity to commend groups and individuals in our communities, especially our churches, that are helping people to feel safe, secure and at peace with each other as they provide basic needs and advice. As an institution that is present in the community in which it finds itself, the church can be defined in many ways. One definition is that it is caring. John Stott, in his book ‘The living church. Convictions of a lifelong pastor’, describes the traits of the church as people loving one another, forbearing one another, forgiving one another, and bearing one another’s burdens. 54

He continues by saying that the church offers ‘friendship to the lonely, support to the weak, and acceptance to those who are despised and rejected by society’. In so doing, it is expressing the love of God. I wonder if I can suggest to you to remember to extend a hand of friendship as part of your harvest celebration. On the other hand if you get the opportunity to receive a gift, don’t feel that you’re a ‘charity case’ but rather, it is God’s love being extended to you. Have a blessed month. Yours sincerely,

Pastor’s Page When I moved to Bawtry six years ago, for the first time in my life I found myself with a garden. Since then, every spring I have faithfully planted seeds and sought to produce various different vegetables and flowers; I even received a lovely potting shed for my 50th birthday. And every year some things grow well and others don’t grow at all; last year we enjoyed home-grown peas for several Sunday lunches, this year I barely harvested one portion. I did nothing differently – adding compost and manure to the raised bed in the previous autumn, planting the seeds at the same time, watering to the same degree, etc, etc. And it’s not just the peas; this year my onions failed but I have the European courgette mountain outside my back door. I have carrots a plenty but no chilli peppers in sight, red hot or otherwise. One definition of stupidity is to keep doing the same thing in the same way but expecting different results; well, I keep doing the same thing in the same way and expecting the same results but have differing, unpredictable outcomes. Those with green fingers tell me that I have forgotten about a vital variable – the weather. Apparently, it is one thing to bear in mind whether it is dry or raining today, but quite another to allow for what the weather was like three months ago, or even six months ago. It seems that too much in gardening is out of my control and so I have a choice; either to give up and turf the vegetable patch over or to keep planting a variety of plants and being happy to enjoy the ones that do well while not worrying about the stunted, blighted or non-sprouting ones. We like to be the masters of our lives and so instigate plans, budgets and habits that we think will enable us to predict and control what lies ahead; but we ignore the uncontrollable variables at our peril. We need to bear in mind that we will all be hit by sickness, redundancy, a bump in the car or a broken washing machine at some point in our lives. When our plans or budgets get ripped to shreds we could despair and give up or we could decide to enjoy what has worked this year while letting go of what didn’t. As a Christian, I need to do as St James instructed and not have the attitude that says; “tomorrow we will go do such and such” but rather; “If the Lord wills, we will go and do such and such” (James 5v13-16). If I can trust that God truly is in control then I can relax, plant some seeds and wait and see what comes up.

Following the sad death of Tickhill mayor Councillor Ray Hill we have made donations to both of the charities nominated at his funeral, Tickhill in Bloom and Methodist Church and Charities. We have also donated £250 to the Rossington Children’s Centre to cover the cost of a coach trip to Cleethorpes on 19th August. On the barbecue front we assisted Tickhill Cricket Club on 12th July for the 6 a side tournament in the morning and then for the match between Tickhill and the South Yorkshire League Select X1 in the afternoon. This was to mark the grand opening of the new pavilion by Geoff York, the oldest surviving member of the club at 95. An enjoyable day in front of a good crowd who can now make use of some excellent facilities. The barbecue team will be in action again on 26th September for the TFest day of music when there will be stages at the Scarbrough Arms and the Cricket Club. Note for your diaries. Another function at the Cricket Club - on Saturday 7th November there will be a big bonfire, super firework show, an excellent barbecue and the usual range of quality drinks. Details of timings for the bonfire and the fireworks will be advertised closer to the date.

Update from Councillor Rachael Blake It has been another busy month, dealing with residents’ individual problems, problems that affect the whole town as well as attending local events meeting residents. Improvements Last month I mentioned the re-lining that needed to be done in the High Street and that I was just waiting for a date for this. I was told that this would be before the end of July so every day as the end of July drew nearer I checked for any progress and was delighted that this was finally completed a few days before the end of the month. I think it has not only improved safety for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians but also makes the area look better. Other work still needs to be done, work that I see and report myself as I am on my walks around the town. Concerns about the safety of pedestrians near Sainsbury’s has been brought to my attention – a concern that I will be discussing with DMBC. Also, last month I mentioned the request for dropped kerbs at Peakes Croft. When I was at my regular surgery at Bawtry Community Library, I was chatting to residents from Peakes Croft who told me that the dropped kerbs that they had requested had been completed and that it made a big difference which I was pleased to hear about. I have been attending Austerfield Parish Council meetings since March and the issue of the lack of buses has always been on the agenda, A request from residents is for transport providers to consider diverting one of the Bawtry to Doncaster buses through the village and this is something I discussed, along with other bus issues for the ward when I met with South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (PTE) last week. They were willing to consider this and will let me know if this progresses. At the wonderful Community Shop Saturdays at Austerfield where I hold my surgery where there is always a lively discussion about all the good things happening and things that need improving, we discussed how a bus service could bring children into the Study Centre as well - something that used to happen years ago. This was something I included in my discussions with the PTE.

Have your say on the Local Plan Everyone has an opportunity to give their views on Doncaster’s Local Plan which will set out policies and proposals that will be used to guide decisions and investment across the Borough over the next 15 years. It will set out, how and where the homes, jobs, community facilities, shops and infrastructure will be delivered and the type of places and environment we want to create. The consultation started on 13 July and will finish on 4 September. There is a questionnaire that needs to be completed on-line via the website www.doncaster.gov. uk/localplan I know that Bawtry Residents Group will be responding to the Plan and no doubt the Town Council, but individual resident’s views are very welcome and important so that we can influence how the Town develops over the next 15 years. How to Contact Me I have 2 surgeries where you can come and see me, tell me your concerns about Doncaster council services, tell me what needs improving or I can assist with individual problems that you have with DMBC services. Most of my surgery work comes from calls and emails throughout the month so please do contact me at any time. Last Saturday of every month – Austerfield Centre Community Shop from 10am – 12pm ( Please note I will not be there in September but will be there the rest of the year) 2nd Friday of every month - Bawtry Community Library from 10am – 12pm Tel: 07976896563/01302 710251: Twitter @CllrRachaelB : Email: Rachael.blake@doncaster.gov.uk Thank you for reading this.
