efore being certified and transitioning full-time to coaching, Joy Harris- Edwards, the founder, and CEO of Authentic Joy, LLC, practiced as a mental health counselor. Her diverse training in evidence-based trauma-informed care, relationship conflict resolution, and having a faith-based perspective helped create a unique blend of expertise and strategies. Now holding certifications as a John Maxwell Team Speaker/Coach, Christ-Centered, and Transformational Life Coach, Joy provides life coaching, professional development, and motivational speaking. Coach Joy has a unique yet proven Strategic Joy Plan that helps reduce stress, decrease burnout and heal from the inside out. She is passionate about offering a safe place to help women heal from the inside out from past pain and achieve sustainable joy, peace of mind, and more productivity through her coaching programs. “My “Why” is because of what Jesus did on the cross for me,” she says. Healing from the inside out from past pain is something that Joy has experienced firsthand. “I have experienced more traumatic events than I care to share throughout my life,” she says as she recounts her journey towards healing. “Those years of trauma and abuse caused me to lose my identity. I went on a quest to rediscover who I was and learn how to advocate for my mental wellness and safety.” After processing her pain, Joy made it her life’s purpose to help others heal, manage their traumatic/painful experiences, and live life from a victorious posture. “My pain pushed me into purpose and led me to start Inspiring You To Be…LLC which evolved into Authentic Joy, LLC.”

BThe one word that best describes Joy is Empathic, showing an ability to understand and share the feelings of others. “I take pride in giving empathy to others. I can’t feel what they feel, but I can relate through my own experiences to understand,” she says. Joy’s leadership philosophy is a Diplomat with a splash of Steward. “Cultivating sincere personal relationships is significant to success. I genuinely want to see people succeed,” she says. Joy is intentional about building on strengths and bringing awareness and improvement strategies to growth areas. She has spent more than 15 years helping thousands of individuals gain strategies to thrive. Joy is also grateful for the opportunity to provide coaching, television appearances, and keynote, speaking across the United States and internationally for high-profile clients such as TV ONE, Wal-Mart, AKA, and others. “I believe success that stands alone is a failure in disguise. If I am succeeding while others connected to me are failing, then my greatest success is my greatest failure!”

Joy, a woman of faith, is well aware that she would be but filthy rags and can accomplish nothing without God. She shares that being married to her husband Glynn for nearly nine years has been a blessing. Joy serves as the Administrative Pastor of Christ Embassy Church. She is the author of Authentic Joy: Finding True Joy in a Compromising World, co-author of Embracing You, and was included in an anthology titled: Unstoppable Black Woman!
