The intervention is placed in the Southwestern end of Lefkada island.
The Lefkata cape specifically (also known as Sappho's Leap) is a place of great wild beauty and awe. The white, steep cliffs (about 60 meters high) may have given their name to the island. Widely famous is the myth of the suicide of Sappho from the cliffs of Lefkata. Sappho, a prominent female poet of antiquity (7th century BC), jumped off that cliff because of her unrequited love for Phaon.
