A MIST FINISH NEW! We’ve incorporated a mist finish on our entire line up of reels. Misting creates smoother edges and provides for a more consistent non-reflective finish throughout. Plus it looks really damn cool!

D MACHINED REEL SEAT

G MULTI-DISC DRAG

It’s our signature and we’re sticking to it. A solid is always stronger than two parts attached by screws. By doing this, it eliminates the common problem of screws rotting from corrosion and becoming loose.

A multi-disc drag cassette comprised of Rulon® and precision stamped stainless steel discs applies braking pressure and heat dispersion over several surfaces. This virtually eliminates start up inertia and stick-slip problems.

B FRAME FEATURES NEW! We’ve gone from seven windows in the Gen 1 Finatic to nine windows in the Gen 2, creating a concave frame that allows us to eliminate unnecessary weight without sacrificing strength.

E CRANKS+COUNTERBALANCE NEW! We’ve incorporated an Ultraflon sleeve between the aluminum crank and handle. By adding the sleeve it eliminates galvanic corrosion so your crank will spin effortlessly for years.

C FRAME+SPOOL CONNECTION Creating a bombproof frame-to-spool connection is essential for maintaining strength, and true-spin consistency.

F H O O K G UA R D Keep those hooks tucked into the arbor of the reel and out of the way of your hands.

H LIP SEALS+BEARINGS NEW! The amount of time anglers spend in the water has increased dramatically, so we’ve reimagined how our reels are sealed against extreme environments. We’ve added lip seals and sealed bearings as a one-two punch to protect against the elements and a whole new level of water protection.

3 PLUS

If your trout fishing takes you to remote backcountry creeks and fishing in tight cover, then this is your reel. The perfect compliment to your 2wt and 3wt rods.

Our favorite combo for dry fly fishing is a 3 Plus reel attached to a 4wt rod. This pairing simply cannot be beat for both balance and finesse.

4 PLUS

5 PLUS

If you could only have one trout reel for the rest of your life, this would be it. While the 4 Plus fits best on a 5wt rod, it also serves admirably on your 4 and 6wt rods as well. Dry fly or nymph fishing, the 4 Plus has you covered.

The 5 Plus is the size that started it all. Originally called the 56, this reel has been in our line up longer than any other—and for good reason. When the bugs you use, and the fish you catch, start getting a little bigger than you’re gonna want to reach for this reel. Perfect accompaniment for your favorite 6wt.

The 11 Plus was developed as a lightto mid-weight tarpon reel that could also serve double duty offshore. It’s reduced weight and oversize crank provide anglers relief from fatigue that’s typical with a fish fighting tool of this size.

The 12 Plus represents the benchmark in big game fishing. From tarpon to tuna and everything in between, you will not find a finer fish fighting tool on the market today. If your angling takes to you to gun fights—don’t bring a knife. Get a 12 Plus.

1. ADDITIONAL BACKING CAPACITY Some anglers just like using a little more backing than others, or they just may want a little more clearance between the fly line and the frame.

Still unclear about which is best for you? Check out our reel specifications on the next page, contact a Hatch Authorized Retailer, or call us at +1 (760) 734-4343.

2. SPEY CAPACITY Spey lines are traditionally longer in length, and larger in diameter, than regular weight-forward type fly lines. Thus, they need more room.

There is no doubt that travel—and adventure—make us more complete; both as people and certainly as anglers. And fishing new waters certainly challenges our skills and forces us to improve our game. The touch and feel of Dacron® combined with the strength and diameter of gel spun in a single 8-braid polyethylene (PE) line. These lines are smaller in diameter and greater in strength when compared to traditional backing materials. They have greater abrasion resistance, are UV resistant, tie lower profile knots, provide less drag through the water, and are capable of lasting a lifetime.

Traditionally, Dacron backing has been made in loose weave configurations that are impossible to calculate accurate capacities and stack evenly on a spool. Hatch Dacron combines tight weaves and a consistent round diameter with the smooth feel of Dacron, making an ideal braided backing for all fly fishing applications. A proprietary cationic dying process makes our Dacron backing color-fast to reduce staining of your fly line.

WE MET BRYAN ALMOST TEN YEARS AGO WHILE HE WAS LIVING IN ISLAND PARK, IDAHO. HE HAD BEEN GOING PRETTY DAMN HARD AT BREAKING INTO THE PHOTO BIZ FOR THE PREVIOUS FEW YEARS AND LIVING THE LIFE OF A STRUGGLING ARTIST.

PICTURES: BRYAN GREGSON

Passion, technical skill, ambition, and talent were all there, but getting paid for it is something else altogether. Flash forward to today, and Bryan’s work is everywhere. His images and words have graced the pages of our catalog, and countless others, for years. My favorite piece is the one he did for our 2014 Anglers Annual on Argentina. The images told the story of the region and it’s

He’s the most tireless professional we

people and at the time it didn’t even occur

have come across in years and effortlessly

to me that it wasn’t really about fly fishing—

mixes a variety of styles and techniques

rather the journey.

into his work. Photography is hard if it’s done right, and Bryan’s a throwback to a time when professionalism meant something. You can see it in his work, and feel it in his dedication to the craft. We’re happy to showcase some of his images here, but more than that we’re lucky to have him as a friend. Thanks amigo! J+D
