Growing has always been a part of Eddie Gill’s life. His success on the basketball court is a direct reflection of the discipline and mindset it takes to compete at the highest level. His authenticity makes him one of the most trusted faces of the Indiana Pacers reporting team, day in and day out. On top of that, he thirsts to make a difference in people’s lives.
His selfless leadership and “WITWOWWOW” attitude (whatever it takes without whining while only winning), opened the door for Gill to pursue a life bigger than basketball and television. He simply wants to help people find and live the life they want.
It may sound like a movement, a mission or even a movie, but Gill’s story is live and, for our community, in-person. For nearly a decade, Gill has applied a knowledge of finance gained over a 14-year-long professional basketball career to the city of Indianapolis and his clients. Never measuring people by their checkbook or status, he identifies the same values that carried him through professional basketball
in those seeking a path to financial freedom. Eddie Gill is making it happen.
Pigeonholing Gill as a financial advisor is akin to saying he played some basketball. He competed at the highest level, and his financial advising career is nothing short of it. He has taken his craft and surrounded himself with an organization that believes the rules, tools and disciplines that the wealthy use can be applied to anyone seeking to release the stress of money and find ever-elusive financial freedom.
Gill is the newest team member of Invst, one of the fastest-growing registered investment advisors (RIA) in Indiana. More on that story in a second, but it is important to state that Gill had his choice. Who wouldn’t
want a seasoned point guard and financial professional? Gill aligned with a team to take his career to the next level, and he knows a little bit about finding the right fit for the passion and energy he has to give.
Indianapolis-based Invst is racking up awards and accolades across the city and the country. Included in the Best Places to Work in Indiana list by the Indiana Chamber in 2023, Invst has been the fastest-growing RIA in Indiana, and just last year, Inc. 5000 recognized them too. With a mission towards a million people living free from financial worry, it takes a special person to join the Invst team. When Gill met the team, saw the culture and experienced the process, he knew this was the place his unique ability would shine.
Gill found his home in Invst, a wholeperson-centric community engulfed in collaboration and focused on the greater good of the families it serves. Simple things like spending time understanding each client’s “why” for money, and understanding that the “why” is more important than the money itself, resonated…as did helping
to align the “who’s” in clients’ financial lives. Add to that the digitized living game board known as WealthBuilder, which replaces the antiquated paper planning of the financial world, and Gill saw his bigger future as a steward of financial wellness for the families he serves.
As a point guard, Gill understood everyone’s position on the court and what each teammate needed to do at any given time. He applies that same focus to his profession. Gill believes all his clients should have their own rules around money that serve their interest. Unfortunately, he found that in most cases, that included isolation and individual product placement. That lack of comprehension and a full financial picture was literally waking Gill up at night. He had to find a way to help people get the education, guidance and counseling needed to reach their full financial potential. The goal? The freedom of time to do what clients want, with who they want, when they want, while living their own life of purpose. He knew he had to find a way to execute this. He found the Invst4Life process and knew his desire to become each family’s personal CFO was possible. It was a simple, time-tested and forward-thinking process for building a model that adapts and adjusts as life does.
Just like he used to study game tape to find the edge, Gill leaned into understanding the depth and detail of the fundamentals of cash flow - how money goes in and out of the American household. He found that most families have money falling off their balance sheet simply because of lack of organization and coordination. He also discovered that most people’s financial lives were held together with limited and piecemeal protection products bought in isolation. He began to institute a protectionfirst philosophy to create the much-needed peace of mind his families desired. This meant installing actual protection strategies that worked together for the clients and not just the institutions selling them.
The alignment of Gill’s playing career and his current professional career is all about accelerating. If you ever saw his first basketball step, you would
understand. Defenders used to yell “help” as he blew by, and now he is finding that he is the “help” for families seeking to overcome financial obstacles. And as he comes alongside, he is finding that his families are writing their stories. He often says history will be kind to the families he serves, because they are going to write it. He believes that the healthy family household is the secret to building a thriving community, and that potential impact wakes him up every day.
A lot of what Gill learned, he found. The belief systems that light his fire are now fanned by a company that believes in the
same. The philosophy to truly serve has been matched. Though simplistic, Gill and his new relationship with Invst are not common…nor are his results. So, if you are looking for a culture of investing in you, your family and your future, look no further than Eddie Gill and his newfound home at Invst.

Investing in college education is one of the most significant investments individuals can make in their future. However, the rising costs of tuition, fees and other expenses can pose a significant financial burden for many families. That’s where financial aid, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), comes into play. FAFSA serves as a crucial tool in accessing various forms of financial assistance to help make college more affordable.
Completing the FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process for students seeking assistance from federal, state and
institutional sources. The information provided on the FAFSA determines eligibility for grants, scholarships, workstudy programs and federal student loans. It’s essential for students and their families to understand the FAFSA process thoroughly, and to complete it accurately and on time.
One of the primary benefits of the FAFSA is its inclusivity. Regardless of income level, all students are encouraged to submit a FAFSA application. Even if a student believes they may not qualify for need-based aid, completing the FAFSA form opens up

opportunities for other forms of financial assistance, including low-interest federal student loans and work-study programs.
Additionally, some states and colleges use FAFSA information to determine eligibility for their financial aid programs. By completing the FAFSA form, students may become eligible for state grants, scholarships or tuition assistance programs that can further offset the cost of attendance.
Moreover, the FAFSA considers various factors beyond just income, such as family size, number of family members attending college, and assets. This holistic approach to assessing financial need ensures that students from diverse backgrounds have access to financial aid opportunities.

Furthermore, it simplifies the financial aid process by providing a centralized application for federal student aid programs. Rather than requiring students to apply separately for each type of financial aid, the FAFSA form streamlines the process, making it more accessible and efficient for both students and financial aid administrators.

Investing in college education is a significant decision that requires careful financial planning. The FAFSA serves as a vital tool in accessing financial aid resources that can make college more affordable for students and their families. Peterson’s, a family-owned, award-winning restaurant, is celebrating its 25-year anniversary. The restaurant came into existence because Joe Peterson, a chemist by trade, used to travel around the country for his local business and would often entertain clients at high-end restaurants.
“I’d be so disappointed in the service, the food, or the pricing that I thought, ‘If I were ever involved in a restaurant, I would cater to the customers and treat them right,’” says Peterson.
Although he had no experience in the culinary world, he bought and remodeled the old Frisch’s Big Boy building, hired a top chef, assembled a qualified staff, and opened Peterson’s in March 1999.
“I wanted a place for people in Fishers and the northside of Indy to have a delicious steak or seafood meal, complete with exceptional service and wonderful ambiance,” he says.
People often frequent Peterson’s to commemorate a special occasion such as an anniversary or a birthday.
“If you really want to entertain someone or celebrate with friends and family, this
is a great place to go because you won’t experience any surprises,” says Peterson, who has 50 employees, some of whom have been working there for 22 and 23 years. Peterson’s is open Monday through Saturday for dinner, as Peterson wants staff to have time with their families on Sundays.
He notes that the recipe for a wonderful dining experience is superior service followed by tasty food and nice ambiance, which includes cleanliness, dim lights and soft music.
“People don’t realize that you have to have everything together,” he says. “You can’t just have one good thing and two bad things, or even one bad thing. People are paying good money, so they deserve to have the very best.”
One of their popular appetizers is the Maine Lobster Tempura Fingers, which are served with honey mustard, peppercorninfused drawn butter. They are also known for their juicy, flavorful steaks; the eightounce Center Cut Filet Mignon is their top seller, served with house-made au jus. The JCP Center Cut Double Filet Mignon is a 14-ounce filet named after Joe Peterson. Their dessert
They have more than 400 wines in stock and have won Wine Spectator’s Best Award of Excellence for nearly 25 years. Other honors include OpenTable Diner’s Choice awards, as well as inclusion in Indianapolis Monthly’s Best Restaurants and Favorite Steakhouses listings.
Peterson’s favorite part of restaurant ownership is hearing the comments from satisfied guests like Dr. Michael Meneghini, who has been a loyal patron of Peterson’s for 15plus years.

specialty is homemade bread pudding, which includes vanilla bean ice cream and Chantilly cream.
The menu also includes some familyfavorite recipes that go back decades, such as the au gratin potatoes with crispy applewood smoked bacon. They also occasionally offer sugar cream pie that’s rolled by hand to make it crumbly and moist.
“You’ve got to offer some options that people can’t get at other places,” says Peterson.
Bartenders create specialty drinks that regularly win local Indy competitions. Plus, the restaurant team takes pride in having the best wine list in the Indianapolis area.
“It’s family owned, and you feel it the moment you walk in the door,” says Meneghini. “The service is impeccable and many of the amazing staff have been there for as long as my wife and I have been patrons. The food is absolutely outstanding. Peterson’s is my favorite venue in Indy for a business dinner, an evening out with friends or a date night with my wife.”
Eric Vorm, a frequent guest at Peterson’s, calls it his absolute favorite restaurant.
“The food is always fantastic, and no matter what I order, I’m always delighted with my meal,” says Vorm. “Servers are great and always efficient, happy and polite.”
Mike Bush has selected Peterson’s for his company Christmas party several years
“From the time you’re greeted at the door to sitting at your table - or at the bar, my favorite - the service is unparalleled,” says Bush. “It’s hard to find better service, and variety of top-shelf food and cocktails in a warm and friendly atmosphere.”
Although it was a risky endeavor to open Peterson’s 25 years ago, Peterson says he and his wife, Marilyn, with whom he has four children, take great pride in the restaurant’s reputation for “only the very best.”
“She was apprehensive back when we first opened,” says Peterson. Marilyn, a retired nurse, knew that it’s tough to make it in this industry. She’s learned to trust me and the people I hired.”
He credits the restaurant’s success to his knowledgeable staff and to having a good location in a growing city.
“Twenty-five years ago Fishers was a small little one-horse town and now it’s a growing, top city,” says Peterson, who also owns other commercial properties in the area. “There’s a lot of traffic coming off the interstate so people find us by accident, but most people come here because of word of mouth. People try us, like it, and post about it on social media.”
To celebrate the restaurant’s 25th anniversary, they plan to hold several special anniversary events in April. It’s a way of
saying thank-you to their faithful guests.
“The celebration will be centered around our loyal customers, not us, because our success is all thanks to them,” says Peterson.
Peterson’s is located at 7690 East 96th Street in Fishers. For more information, call 317598-8863 or visit petersonsrestaurant.com.

Misty Wick Johnston, the president and CEO of Lawrence Township School Foundation (LTSF), says she couldn’t be more excited about her new job, and the opportunities it presents, including LTSF’s upcoming Celebration Gala.
“Since becoming LTSF’s first president and CEO, it’s been an energizing journey marked by progress, collaboration and community support,” Johnston says. “We’ve advanced our mission through impactful programs, benefiting students and teachers by fostering innovative educational experiences and opportunities. I’m incredibly grateful for the generous support of our donors and corporate sponsors who support the foundation and help us to make a significant impact in our community.”
Johnston notes that the LTSF board of directors and staff have begun a strategic planning process that will focus on three key areas over the next few years, including organizational excellence, community impact and, most importantly, student success.
“I’ve been most excited about seeing firsthand the experiences and opportunities that we can provide to students,” she says. “Watching them engage, explore and learn is really powerful to see, and even more powerful to know I’ve had a small part in making those programs possible for all Lawrence Township students. The key driving force in doing work like this is seeing the impact it has on the students and the community.”
Johnston is looking forward to the Celebration Gala. She says LTSF cordially invites guests to hop aboard The Magic School Bus and join them on March 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Indiana Roof Ballroom in downtown Indianapolis.
“You can bring the magic and wonder of learning to life by supporting LTSF’s largest annual fundraising event,” Johnston says.
For over 40 years, LTSF has been connecting community and classrooms to support the educational experiences of Lawrence Township students, with funding for programs that aren’t supported by tax dollars. Since 1983, LTSF has contributed more than $8.7 million to support the education of the children in Lawrence Township schools.
“Just like Ms. Frizzle [from “The Magic School Bus” book and TV series], LTSF celebrates hands-on learning, curiosity, and exploration,” Johnston says. “Let your imagination take you on an adventure at the LTSF 2024 Celebration Gala, where you can make an impact by bidding on amazing silentauction items, playing the game of chance and simply giving the gift of education.”
“LTSF’s Celebration Gala is a very special event for the foundation and contributes significantly to the foundation’s revenue, to support our students and provide them with the tools and resources they need to succeed each year,” she adds. “The Celebration Gala is not just any event though; it’s a spectacular evening that showcases the power of education and community coming together.”
Attendees should plan for cocktail attire. Tickets for individuals are $150, and tickets for Lawrence Township faculty and staff are $95. A corporate table is $2,500. To purchase tickets, or to learn more, visit msdltf.org.
As the chilly, bleak winter months roll by, people’s hearts yearn for the warmth of sunny days and the freedom of outdoor activities. King Jugg Brewing Company, always one step ahead, eagerly awaits the bustling spring and summer seasons with their newly expanded patio area. Randy De John, the managing partner, shares the exciting news
of their patio expansion, extended deck, and addition of a cover over the stage area for the upcoming spring and summer concerts.
“The new patio area is going to be absolutely beautiful,” De John says. “We’re going to have almost 20 tables out there, which is a considerable amount more than we had before. The outside area is kid and dog
friendly. We have games and seating. It’s a great place to be when the weather breaks.”
In the month of March, De John says King Jugg Brewing plans to host a lively Saint Patrick’s Day tent party celebration starting on March 15 and running through March 17. De John says King Jugg will offer a few traditional Irish delicacies,
allowing customers to immerse themselves in the spirited energy of “Erin go bragh” (commonly translated as “Ireland forever”). Additionally, live music performances will grace the stage all three nights.
March Madness also brings forth the fervor of college basketball enthusiasts. De John says they’ve added more televisions to
ensure every customer can catch all the thrilling hoops action. He says they will be running specials and releasing new beer during March. De John notes with the increased seating capacity, he can accommodate private tables for March Madness viewing. Guests just need to call and inquire ahead of time.
April 8 marks the celestial event of a lifetime, the total solar eclipse. Indiana finds itself on the path of totality, making it the prime location to witness when the moon passes between the sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the sun.
“We’re going to have some live music that day from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., and we’ll be
releasing one of best beers, aptly named Jester of the Sun,” De John says.
June 2 ignites the King Jugg summer concert series, bringing live music to the patio every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. De John says he diligently scours cities like Columbus, Ohio; Nashville, Tennessee; and Louisville, Kentucky, for fresh and rousing musical acts.
“We do have well-known musicians like The Why Store performing, but I like to try to find musicians who you won’t find performing anywhere else in the area,” De John says. “I don’t want to see the same acts performing all the time, and I think our customers feel the same way.”
De John says patio season was a resounding success last year, making it an obvious choice to expand on what King Jugg has to offer in terms of entertainment and events. His intention was to create a space where beer enthusiasts, game enthusiasts, music lovers, families and dog owners could come together to celebrate the joy of warmer months to come.
King Jugg Brewing Company is located at 11110 Lantern Road in Fishers. For more information, visit kingjuggbrewing.com.

Micah Derrer, a senior at Fishers High School, has excelled at rugby and proven to be a strong team player.
His father, Brian Derrer, says Micah has enjoyed rugby from a young age.
“Micah has been playing rugby since fourth grade,” Brian Derrer says. “He started when we moved to Fishers from Richmond, Indiana. He started with the Mudsock flag rugby program and has loved it ever since. He enjoys all kinds of sports and outdoor activities, and has spent the last year and a half focusing on strength and speed training. Through weight and cardio training, he has markedly improved his fitness. When the weather is nice, you’re likely to find him on a disc golf course in the area.”
Micah recently had a strong rugby season.
“Last season Micah played in the second row of the pack for scrums, and was a force in the rucks that form when the teams battle for
possession,” Derrer says. “Rucking over the ball has been among his favorite parts of the game. He was also part of the lineout squad. It was usually as a lifter and sometimes receiving the ball from out of bounds. He scored a few tries, and loves that every player on the rugby pitch has the opportunity to carry, pass and receive the ball. His lighter, faster body has him learning a new position among the backs this year - a challenge he’s excited about, even though he’ll miss some of the dirty work of the pack players.”
Micah also keeps busy with other school activities.
“Off the pitch, Micah is probably best known in his on-air role on ‘The 3:40,’ the Fishers High School video announcements show,” Derrer says. “He’s also spent some time on stage, performing in three musicals at Fishers High School. He loves the school’s media program and is finding his passion behind the camera as he learns and shapes his skill in editing, writing and producing. He also takes his faith journey seriously and is a singer/guitarist in the youth praise band at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, where he also works with the tech and video teams and serves in the community. He has been part of Students in Action, and this year
