The idea of machines printing out solid objects might be hard to imagine, but this is precisely the concept behind Nighthawk 3D. The Shipshewana company uses 3D printers to design and manufacture small custom parts. It all began when Owner Derek Miller was unable to find obsolete parts for RV refrigerators. “I work for my father, Larry Miller, at Pines Refrigeration.” Miller says. “Certain parts were unavailable to repair some refrigerators. We got a 3D printer to see if I could figure out how to make the parts. Eventually, I moved the printer home and I just kept playing around
with it. Everything expanded from there. Anything that anyone can dream up can be made, such as drink holders, gears, caps, brackets for bikes, pipe elbows or small ratio slides for milkers.
