K-9 Dental Toy
+
“The K-9 dental toy is a better solution to existing chew toys as its safer and more efficient whilst being fun for the dog to play with.
80% health condition in all dogs are to do with dental care.
People take great care with their pets well-being which can cost lots of money for some families. So this was a main insight that I found which I wanted to look further into and see what products currently cater for this need.
Dental care is quite expensive so that could be a worry to owners when debating what costs.
Some animals can get distressed when you go near their personal spaces, so observing or cleaning their teeth could be a struggle.
Owners can get emotional and worried about their pets, so its good know that their animals will be in safe hands
Existing Dental toys have the correct ethos as they want to take care of your pets teeth, however from speaking to vets about the range of existing toys on the market can possibly use the wrong materials and form as they have the wrong form which can actually break their teeth and swells their gums causing more problems than intended.
Something which fits in their mouth
Has to be flexible so that it solves the exsisting problem
The K-9 dental toy has been designed so that there will be nothing external so that the dog can damage their teeth or gums, but internally have ribbed holes so that when the dogs starts to chew, their teeth will enter the holes and will rub on the ribbed edges acting as a toothbrush.
The K-9 could also be applied to other such as a Frisbee so that a range of products could be made so that a dogs dental care could be looked after in several different environments.
The K-9 dental toy is not which is a cure for dogs but a fun toy which the owner can get involved as well so that your dog will allows be keeping on track with good dental care whilst having fun at the same time.
Shadow Play ‘‘A simplistic lamp which casts a perfect amount of light whilst allowing moving shadows to spin in different directions’’.
Using Polypropylene, I was investigating what shapes and shadows I could make to develop a unique lampshade which emits light and creates interesting shadows
Taking influences from wind chimes moving, I was very hands on folding, and creating new forms with the Polypropylene to see which shape created the most unique shadows. I’ve designed this simplictic lampshade which has free moving forms which spin due to the heat of the lamp allowing unique shadows to be created which constantly change due to its spiral forms.
Youth Sport Direct ‘‘ An inclusive game which I’ve made so that the principle of the games is that it gives everyone an equal chance of winning and taking part, abled bodied or not’’.
To help with my research, I had the privledge to go and gather research at Cedars Academy to go and speak to the children and teachers to help me gain a further insight into the field which I was dealing with. The school caters for students who range from several different disabilities.
I was intrigued into the ball games which the kids got involved with such as Boccia and I wanted to develop a game which could be played by people to ranged from different disabilities.
Through sketches and development, Ball run is a game which includes a ramp that has different sized holes. The aim of the game is to roll the ball in the holes to score points, but as the holes are all different sizes, there is no clear chance you will score any points. The idea is to make this game fair, so that it gives
every player the same chance of winning without worrying about age or ability.
ROLL AND WAIT... The harder the hole, the more points on offer 30

HE SCORED!
20 POINTS You have to use skill in where you aim the ball and how much power you put on it otherwise you might not score any points
Recollection ‘‘The memory boxes apture the great memories of life to help allow Alzhiemer’s paitent’s to reminisce and enjoy special events together with their families rather than worrying about mental capabilities’’.
By defining anticipation, how can we look into anticipating what products or services we could create in the near future
Alzhiemer’s is a devastating mental disease which can leave families emotionally drained because of the stress of worrying and caring for a loved one.
Pictures of family
Special Events
Birthdays
Rather than worrying, why can’t families enjoy special memories by reminiscing about events in the elders life, to laugh and smile with one another.
The boxes are a subtle piece of furniture which allows members of the family to pick up and reveal great memories with the family.
They act as a prompt for the sufferer which can help train their memory; as well as enjoying their time with family. This therefore transforms the negative situation into a more positive experience
Solid Works
Bic Pen
The brief was to design in Solidwork’s a Bic Pen to improve my skills within Part, Assembly and producing Working Drawings.
Rhino This self- directed brief which is designed and rendered in Rhino, The Penguin Pump is designed to help promote kids washing hands from an early age. Washing your hands can be forgetful, so by getting kids to use this fun pump would help them get in a routine. Rendered on Keyshot.
Coffee ‘‘The grinder makes the coffee lover becoming a part of the process of making their own drink reemphasising on traditional methods to celebrate the aromas made by the bean itself.’’
Different surfaces to get the most effective bean grinding
The main aspect of this was to allow the product to be personal and allow the user to feel like they were a-part of the production
By simply turning the stone grinder in the middle it allows the user to smell the unique aromas of their coffee that they are creating allowing them to enjoy the routine of it being made.
A Pine base to have an aesthetic appeal in an home environment
Tactile Packaging ‘‘A concept idea of the packaging of vegetables, and how it focuses on the quality of fresh vegetables and having the experience of harvesting your own vegetables.’’
The brief was to design an item of packaging which represented the product inside through hints of touch and different textures that could be associated with the product
‘‘ I always buy fresh veg because I want to encourage my children to be healthy and try to introduce them to new foods which they might enjoy.’’
‘‘ In my day we had to go to our plot and harvest our own vegetables which is now only taken as a hobby! I enjoyed preparing my own food as I know they are going to be fresh because I’ve grown them.”
From insights and observing packaging in the market, I wanted to make packaging which could bring the message of fresh vegetables across whilst having a subtle educational meaning.

Educational
Exploring different forms and colours to replicate the product inside and looking into how the packaging is opened and how the users could learn more about its contents.
The experience of harvesting fresh vegetables yourself from soil is a new personalised concept, which is fun and educational for children to learn where their veg has come from and how you can experiment with it.
Kettle Project Through initial designs and development, I designed this kettle which is simplistic and will stand out in an home environment. I focused on how people hold kettles and wanted to allow a comfortable grip to the handle whilst making it easier to use the kettle.
From looking into how a kettle work, to how people hold the handle, I design this kettle which using clean cut lines that plays on the illusion at you can only fill the kettle half way, where actually from a internal designed structure and be filled to a normal height and be used as it normally would be.
