people of tomorrow,

WITNESS THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!

Be seated, dear audience, prick up your ears, and listen. This is a story that wants to be heard: the story of the greatest show on Earth. From far and wide, from near and close, from stages all around the world, they’ve come. They are the Amicorum Spectaculum, a network of friends, a party of performers, each of them the very best of their trade. They’ve travelled here to put a lifetime of practice to the test, to put on a spectacle unlike anything that came before. All of the group’s members are delighted: after a hiatus of many decades, this weekend, they are finally together again. Why here, why now, you ask? The reason is simple – you. It was you, magicians of

Tomorrow, that inspired the Amicorum’s director to send out the call. It was your hearts, your energy, your collective goodness that led him to choose Boom. Now, the Amicorum family is rejoined, and their work about to begin. But first, today – a preview. The Spectaculum will slowly get up steam during the Gathering, to prepare you for the mighty shows ahead. So stand up, friends, it is time. Stand up, open your eyes, step forth. Let the Amicorum Spectaculum touch your heart and fill you with desire, with artistry, with life itself. You will be happy, enchanted, and changed forever.

Sweet Friends, You must be quite excited. Today is the day, young friends… Today is the day that was written in your stars from the beginning, the day the cards have always told would come. So let us see what led you here, and what’s about to happen.

Perhaps you’ve felt magic before – I’m sure you have, if this is not your first time at Tomorrowland. And even if it is, you were not led here by chance. Magic is not just a force of the world; it is also a gift within yourself, and the more you attune yourself to it, the stronger it becomes. You are the ones who love, play, dance, feel, connect; you are the ones who open their hearts and nurse the magic within. And it is only those who can feel the magic inside who are drawn to the sorcery of our show, of our Spectaculum Amicorum. You see, friends, it is not just you who’s come together – for us, performers, artists, and fortune-tellers, this weekend is a special reunion too. It’s been decades since we last met, and now, your burning desire brought us together again. But I digress. You must be all too curious about your fortune. And luck is on your side: I see all the light in the world for you. I see inescapable emotions, I see you acquainting kindred souls. I sense that these will be days to remember, but first, they must be lived. I see you living on a high beyond anything you’ve known before, with music as the fuel and dance as the expression of a soul enveloped in bliss. There is just one catch: you have to let it happen, you have to let that inner magic out. Do that, dear friends – and your fortune will be golden.

RAYA – FORTUNE TELLER

- highlights -

Come rain or come shine, it doesn’t matter right now. Joy and laughter from within are the things that make this weekend such a spectacle. Promise yourself to enjoy to the fullest.

PLUG IT IN

We’ve all gathered here for the same reason: to experience and to spread the love for music. That’s also why there are two things we should protect very carefully; our hearts and our ears. For the former, you have full responsibility. For the latter, BLOX has got you covered. Your ears have never been protected better, or looked more on fleek, than with the brand new BLOX Xperience Music earplugs: a limited edition especially designed for the People of Tomorrow. Get them for 13 Pearls at the BLOX shop on DreamVille, or at the BLOX shop at the main festival entrance. Plug ‘em in and enjoy the music to the max.

RECHARGE

Three days of dancing and flirting is as exciting as it is exhausting. You’ll need a moment to recharge from time to time, and so does your phone! JBL offers just that, with 6 stands on DreamVille (Marketplace and the District Houses) and one on the festival grounds. You’ll find their stand at the main information point. You can buy a charger at JBL for 16 Pearls, 10 of which are only a deposit. Though you’re not going to want to return these beauties, as they’re in full-on Tomorrowland style! You can swap your charger for a fully charged one at any time, so you and your phone will always be ready to hit the dancefloor again instantly.

Planes, buses, trains, cars, bikes, zeppelins, tuk-tuks or whatever means of transport got you here: you’ve finally reached the final stage of your journey. And you’re definitely not alone: Tomorrowland’s Global Journey brings thousands of people from all over the world together to share the same goal. Countless airmiles were traversed by Tomorrowland’s magical airplane-annex-piece-of-art ‘Amare’, as well as by other steel-winged birds… Just so that you, him, her and us can show the rest of the world that name, nationality, belief, creed nor race have to be a barrier between people. 28,234 of mankind’s finest specimens, divided over 121 nationalities, embark on this Global Journey. Ready for take-off? Well hey there, stranger! Glad we’ve finally run into each other. You’ve probably been living up to this moment just as much as we have been. Whether you’ve waited for a year or even longer, whether this is your very first time or not, we can only soothe you by saying that the excitement, nervousness and eagerness you’ve experienced are perfectly normal. Along the route to this festival, you’ll find many others feeling the same way. Yet another reason to interact with your fellow festival-going travelers, with whom you already share a love for music, a heart for life and a mind set on the spirit that is the backbone of Tomorrowland. For some of you this experience is just a bike ride or a handful of bus stops away from your doorstep, but for most of you, hundreds or maybe even thousands of miles or kilometres stood between you and the first row of the Mainstage. And even though our modern means of transportation have made Planet Earth a whole lot smaller, your effort in coming over to live this dream of yours in person cannot be underestimated. But neither can we forget the other side of the coin! A whopping 232 Tomorrowland flights from no less than 96 cities all over the world, trains and buses to bring you directly into the festival’s welcoming arms… and the orchestration of that whole cobweb of traffic, delivering all of you as fast, as smoothly and as safely as possible. Tomorrowland likes to give away extra special treats, and this year’s certified Tomorrowland extravaganza goes by the name of Amare. Its wings of steel might fool you into thinking it’s just an airplane, but Amare is more than that. A lot more. In a unique partnership with Brussels Airlines, Tomorrowland had eight artists design, create and paint a true masterpiece. In many ways it symbolizes Tomorrowland’s most important values like love, friendship and unity, transforming an ordinary airplane into Amare. She’s set for seven flights, touching ground in Ibiza and Vienna among other cities.

Did you know that the majority of artists who are part of Tomorrowland 2017 come from Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany?

Sri Lanka is the motherland of Selectro, the only Tomorrowland artist who can call this exotic island home.

During your Global Journey, the almighty Amare had the honor to pick some of you up at four locations for six unforgettable party flights in total: Ibiza (1x), Malaga (2x), Vienna (2x) and Geneva (1x).

amicorum spectaculum

The incredible amount of nationalities represented at this year’s edition is 197, 121 of which participated in Global Journey. You truly have travelled from every corner of the world!

Nepal is the home of the Love Tomorrow Music & Arts School.

This year’s bus travellers got their BBQ game on in Westerlo, Arendonk and Mechelen.

We can't pin it to a single place on the globe, since it actually floats around: meet Zephyr, the Tomorrowland hot air balloon.

Oui-oui, last year, one of our Global Journey travellers, Nelson, proposed to his Yasmin in the city of love: Paris. This year, Nelson topped that by surprising Yasmin with a true Tomorrowland wedding.

With over 20 hours of flying to do before arriving to its first destination, the longest Global Journey started in Sydney.

The biggest crew who cosied up through a Friendship Package consisted of 14 travellers coming all the way from Singapore.

THE-REPORTERS

Witness

MAGICAL FRIDAY

The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

WELCOME TO THE HEART OF THE CITY

The clock is running. Make the most of today. Time waits for no man. Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

MOROCCAN TEAHOUSE

If you like to indulge in a bit of that One Thousand and One Nights laidback vibe, then the Moroccan teahouse on the DreamVille Marketplace is the place you ought to be. This is where you can plop down on a sea of colourful pillows, scrape your throat with a honey-sweet mint tea, and blow a couple of smoke rings with the Arabic hookahs or waterpipes.

You’ve probably noticed that the possibilities in Dreamville go way beyond just those of a regular camping site. It’s a city unto itself. Your city: the city where you wake up, brush your teeth, visit the bakery shop for some warm, freshly baked bread and stop by the supermarket for the sides. It’s also the city where before you know it, you’ll be getting lost all day, discovering all those fun - yet practical! - activities you can embark on. We’ve highlighted some of them here.

BAKERY

Ah, yes! Take in that lovely odour of warm bread, pastries and all sorts of yummies for your tummies that the DreamVille Bakery will have on display for you. Everything is made with the finest ingredients, prepared by the most experienced baker’s hands and sprinkled with a pinch of love (and salt). The DreamVille Bakery will prepare you a breakfast of champions and believe us: you’ll want these buns right out of their ovens!

DREAMVILLE RADIO

Just like the last few years, there is a team of radio-loving youngsters lined up for you right on the Marketplace. Their sole mission is to provide you with the best electro tunes and dance classics as well as the latest updates on both local and worldwide news, traffic, and various reports on the festival and its amazing visitors. And they go on day and night! You can listen to DreamVille Radio - powered by Studio Brussel - throughout the weekend on 87.6 FM.

SURVIVAL OF THE LIDLEST Would you agree that prehistoric times had nothing on today’s festival life? Especially not on the Belgians’ savoir-vivre? With beers, fries, waffles and chocolate ready to ambush you at any given moment during your stay in the country, it’s more important than ever to balance things out with some vitamins whenever you can. Luckily, Lidl will be running their famous popup supermarket at DreamVille again, for the fourth year in a row. Fresh vegetables and fruit, salads, juices and smoothies: Lidl delivers the goods to the hungry Tummies of Tomorrow. More than solely preventing you from starving, they also stock festival essentials for the forgetful ones, like sleeping bags and sun cream. Basically, it’s 9-1-1-LIDL. This year, you’ll find Lidl at the Marketplace during both weekends. A new feature is the possibility of skipping the line by ordering and paying for your groceries via the order-totems. This allows you to take ‘home’ your order belgium from the pick-up counter next to the shop, saving you valuable snooze-time. So dodge the dinosaurs and show the cavemen what survival of the fittest 2.0 looks like: make your way to Lidl for the festival essentials!

MUUUM, WHERE’S MY…? During a weekend so full of temptations as Tomorrowland, ‘adulting’ isn’t the easiest task. Even though the advantage of a tent is that when you lose something, it narrows down your search area, help is always welcome in keeping track of things. That’s why we’re sharing our Tent Organising 101: tried & tested tips & tricks.

1. BAG IT UP

Getting and staying organised on-site is easier with this strategy: bag it up. Put your T-shirts in one plastic bag, your shorts in another, your undies in yet another, et cetera. Choose plastic bags of different colours to help distinguish them more easily.

GET YOUR FREAK ON WITH DREAMVILLE’S

JE-NE-SAIS-QUOI There’s more than a lot going on on DreamVille already, but in order to push the limits just a little bit more, there are quite a few surprises hidden behind every corner. So keep your eyes open and check underneath every last stone. That way, you won’t miss out on some of these cherries on the DreamVille cake.

2. HANGING MAN

Usually, the sleeping area of your tent stays dry. That is, if you put up your tent properly and it doesn’t have any holes in it. But the awning of your tent is a little trickier: morning dew or Belgian summer rain reaches it a little too easily. Stuff your things into a bag or net and attach that to the top of the tent poles to help keep the water out. Only put things there that you don’t need to wear anymore though, like trash or laundry.

3. NEON BUDS

If all else fails, and your tent is starting to resemble the walking, talking chaos that you are, just make sure your tent-buddy wears neon-coloured PJs. You know, so you can at least retrace them under that pile of things you decided to bring along.

ROCK DJS

SHOE SHINERS

As a praise to the citizens of our majestic campsite, the mayor of DreamVille inaugurated an actual stone statue of a DJ duo working the ones and twos. The statue is on the campsite all year, but only during the festival weekend does it actually come alive...

A clean shoe is a happy shoe, and a happy shoe is a dancing shoe. That’s the motto these Shoe Shiners live by. They’ll gesture for you to come sit in their shoe shiner’s chairs and get the cleaning going on. Whether your shoes will actually be clean remains to be seen, but you’ll be entertained for sure!

THE WHEELHOUSE

FACTORIA CIRCULAR

Sometimes one word already says it all. The Wheelhouse is - you would never have guessed - a house inside a wheel. Yet it’s way more than just that: the Wheelhouse is an acrobatic promenade show performing an enchanting story set in a dystopian future where survival relies on friendship - and on rolling around, too.

From the magic world of inventions comes Rodafinio, a great wheel that rolls over the camping site of DreamVille, carrying five musicians in its belly. This is a marching band version 2.0, a true Amicorum invention. Make sure to get your funk on when you see these cats rolling around & busting out the swellest of tunes.

UNIVERSAL LOVE Music is a universal language, which means that all you DreamVille beauties can communicate with each other regardless of speech. But to ease up the process of loving thy neighbour, here’s a couple more tools to talk:

Smile! The power of a smile crosses languages, cultures and even mood swings. Help. “Better a neighbor who is near than a far-away friend,” so lend each other a helping hand. BBQ. Gather ‘round the fire pits and you’ll find friendly, munching faces soon enough. Alcohol. Some liquid courage goes a long way. And if you hand it out, you’ll make your neighbours even happier! Flirt. A lingering look, a deep gaze, a sly wink and a little hair toss. And into that tent you go… Love. Spread the love, share it with everyone. Let DreamVille be the example to the rest of the world!

TML TODAY BOYS Well how about that! Your very own Tomorrowland Today will be handed out this year by some of mankind’s finest specimens: the TML Today Boys! These cheeky-looking fellas will stir up your morning coffee with a shout and a cheer proclaiming the news. Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

And there’s no better match to a Chillout lounge than that guy named Laidback Luke; he’ll be hosting a Kung Fu class at 10 a.m. on Friday. Equally good for the soul are the yummy beats by DJ Vinny and Matizz on Thursday (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.) and the sound bowl sessions by Kavafoglu and Nidhi on Saturday and Sunday (10 to 10:30 a.m. and 12 to 12:30 p.m.). winter

summer

Oh, you little ray of sunshine; Raya sees you. She can tell how tiring it can be when people think there’s nothing but rainbows and butterflies beyond your dazzling first impression. And dazzling you are! Do not let your demons take lead, you sparkly Summer Soul. Your inner compass can teach us so much on finding all that is warm and worthwhile in life. While Summer Souls can feel the darkness like few others, they are also ever-connected to an inner, worldly love. Perhaps this duality can feel like a struggle at times, but try to embrace the whole spectrum of feelings. You’ll see what Raya sees, dear Sunshine – the guiding role you can play in many of our lives.

Out of necessity, Children of Winter have a heart that warms everyone they feel close to. Summer tends to make them a little uncomfortable at first, and the start of this summer may have felt similar. However, Winter-Spirits defrost when surrounded with friends – and here, in our magical little world, all of us are friends in the making. Ice Queens have strong personalities – only equally strong Ice Kings can compete, whilst Summer Souls can melt your stubbornness. This week, Raya can see you bumping heads with your friends; sometimes it’s better to claim your space and roam the grounds of Tomorrow at your own pace. That way, you’ll realise you’ve arrived in your safe haven, allowing your heart to heat up Belgium from within.

spring

Spring-babies are a little fragile at the onset, but when treated with care, they can bloom to become the most beautiful souls. While you can deal with pretty much anything, it sometimes takes a while for you to ease into new situations. If this is your first time travelling here, let’s take a breath together. We’ve got you; you’ve got this. Raya can see that this summer will turn out to be a fruitful one. We’ve all travelled from near and far to help and watch you blossom. May Raya suggest a flower crown to inspire your mind to come to bloom? And stay close to your Summer-friends, they can show you how to follow the Sun. Just remember: deep breaths, – this season will be one to remember forever.

seasons of life

We, as children of the Sun, traverse the universe together. We, as children of the Moon, shine our inner light. We, as children of the World, flow with the seasons of life and love. Years on the road have taught Raya to read the future of likeminded souls. Tell her the season you were born in, and she will read your future.

autumn

Undeniably, Fall-Rascals are the most colourful personalities of all. You stand out from the crowd, even here in this crazy, beautiful and temporary world of Tomorrow. You’re now part of our Circus, and boy, will you steal the show. Children born in Autumn tend to be focussed and self-secure. You’re not afraid; the fact that you are here proves it. Though Raya’s crystal ball and cards can be brutally honest, for you, dear, this week looks like the adventure you were waiting for. With so many new things to explore, you’ll be able to use the boundless energy that is inherently yours. Let’s sway to the rhythm of the season, let’s howl with the wind, and let’s dance to the tunes of Tomorrow.

DON’T MISS A THING This year, for the first time ever, a livestream will be available during both weekends of Tomorrowland. With multiple options for stages and camera angles, your friends at home won’t have to miss out on a single thing. Of course, it’s also a great option for you to experience two weekends instead of one. Be sure to grace your face with a smile when you see the cameras near the stages; the world might be smiling back at you. And when you’re back home, hop on over to Tomorrowland.com for live content and relive the weekend with a rerun of the full livestream. Wherever you – or your friends! – are in the world, Tomorrowland is broadcast live, both weekends, on Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., and on Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight, CEST.

FREE CONNECTION Did you know Wi-Fi is pronounced like ‘wee-fee’ in Dutch? Now you do. It’s basically the only word you need to know except ‘bier’ (beer) and ‘dankjewel’ (thank you). As you’re on the Dutchspeaking side of Belgium, of course your bier comes with free wee-fee. Ready to make your friends at home jealous, to check the timetables in the app and message your pals who’ve wandered off again? Look up the WiFi hotspots on your map, log onto the ‘People of Tomorrow Free Wi-Fi’ network, and have at it. But you have to promise us to keep making actual (offline) eye-contact as well. Let’s connect!

HIDE & SEEK WITH A STATUE

Where do they come from? What drives and inspires them? In any case, the statuettes of Art for Thought (AFt) have been a colourful addition to the grounds for years. But here, in our news section, they appear without colour… because they’ve run away! And it appears that they’ve found hiding places elsewhere in Tomorrowland Today, as well as in the real Tomorrowland world. Check out the pictured silhouette & character description carefully. If you find the coloured version on our pages or out there somewhere, send us a really creative selfie with it at today@tomorrowland.com. We will announce today’s winner in tomorrow’s paper.

Today’s statue:

Dimitri

"Don't lose your little spark of madness. Only a little spark, you say?! Sure! All it takes is a little spark to launch a bunch of fireworks and present a magnificent spectacle to the world!"

PHENOMENAL BELGIUM You’ve travelled to Tomorrowland for a reason; it’s internationally (in)famous for being the best place on the planet. Luckily, the Belgian government agrees! They’ve launched a campaign showing the world ‘99 Reasons Why Belgium is Uniquely Phenomenal’, of course including the phenomenal Holy Grounds of Tomorrow. They put them in no particular order, but we know we’re #1. But let’s show you 10 other reasons why Belgium is worth your time:

In Godfrey of Bouillon’s day, there were all sorts of fantastic parties here. amicorum spectaculum Not much has changed.

Belgium is 17th on the World Happiness Index. And that’s despite our constant moaning about the weather.

Stop by for a beer.

The best café in Brussels?

Or 2,500!

Our national symbol doesn’t have quite the same cachet as Lady Liberty. But he does enjoy his freedoms.

17

We could keep reminding you that we were the ones to invent fries.

We’ll get back to you just as soon as we’ve visited them all.

Chocolate is best when it’s kept out of the sun. No surprise that the best is found in Belgium.

A Belgian invented the map of the world. Yet not everyone knows where Belgium is.

Belgium was the second country in the world to legalise same-sex marriages. So we throw a fab party each year.

There’s no other music festival like it in the country.

But we’d rather just eat them.

OK, Europe. OK, the world.

UNITE

IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL What good is an extraordinary experience when you can’t share it with those you love? What a waste it would be to let this beautiful memory fade out or be erased, instead of dispersing it as words and images for others to hear and comprehend. We believe that Tomorrowland and its People of Tomorrow don’t just consist out of those who are actually, physically waltzing around these festival grounds. On the contrary: everyone who wants to be here, everyone who cares about Tomorrow, is just as essential a part of this journey as any other. Whether you’re in the front row at the Mainstage, wandering around exploring the secrets of

MALTA

the festival grounds, or somewhere on the other side of the world, at home, following the madness on the livestream: we’re all in this together. Tomorrowland’s Unite add a whole new dimension to the connectedness of People of Tomorrow all around the world. It brings the festival in all of its glory to major venues in the wildest of locations, all on the same day, July 29, 2017. That unique Tomorrowland atmosphere, some of the finest local and international DJs, a live connection with the festival, and your very own energy contributing to the experience as that magical ingredient: that’s Unite. So let’s see where Unite is headed this year.

DUBAI

Malta

United Arab Emirates

The concept of Unite is beautiful in all its simplicity: share the festival’s experience with those who were not able attend for whatever reason. Bring a whole bunch of those people together close to their own homes, aim one big massive satellite from there to the Tomorrowland Mainstage and let the madness and the music blast through the airwaves! Suddenly you’re as close as could be to experiencing live sets by the likes of Armin van Buuren and KSHMR, even if you’re hundreds or even thousands of miles away from the festival. And it works on islands, too. Through Unite, Tomorrowland is going to Malta as live as could be while DJ Snake and Laidback Luke, in the flesh, will make sure the island of Malta maintains its strong connection.

The city of dreams, where even the exceeding step of the most impossible impossibilities are made possible. They make islands shaped like continents out of nothing, they build the highest, most grandiose skyscrapers full of diamond doorknobs and gold bathtubs, and they keep pushing humanity’s boundaries two steps at a time. So where the technology of livestreaming festivals is concerned, they couldn’t stay behind. Martin Solveig will lighten up the connection between the city of diamonds and the festival of dreams, providing a more than fair chance of your very own One Thousand and One fairytale.

GELSENKIRCHEN

RISHON LEZION

Germany

Israel

Every year again, surprising amounts of people from faraway countries visit Tomorrowland. The number of different nationalities is astonishing. It makes you stop and look at the world from another angle, which is always a good thing. One of the countries that has always been providing a strong delegacy over the past years is Israel. We will Unite with the city of Rishon Lezion with a livestream from festival sets by Armin van Buuren and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, while Steve Angello belgium will touch down in Israel to top it off with a killer set.

If it weren’t for the Germans, electronic music – the digital and analogue creation of sounds, rhythms, and beats – would’ve been either non-existent or something totally else than what it is today. So obviously, the festival simply had to be United with our German neighbours. From electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk to Berlin’s landmark clubbing scene and the thriving techno community in the country’s urban areas, there’s a lot more than a amicorum few reasons tospectaculum connect and Unite the festival to Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

BYBLOS

KOAHSIUNG

Lebanon

Taiwan

The creative heart of Tomorrowland is beating harder, better, faster and stronger than ever when looking at this year’s line-up. As per usual, you will be faced by more than a handful of this planet’s biggest and greatest DJ’s, producers and musicians. On the other hand, more than ever, you will be exposed to some more leftfield, below-the-radar styles of music as well as a whole bunch of aspiring talent that, in our humble opinion, deserves your undivided attention. So when the city of Byblos in Lebanon dials in to the small town of Boom in Belgium, we have the perfect opportunity to line up local talent like Mass, Madjam and Pablo & Fadi Ferraye, accompanied by international greats Bassjackers, Blasterjaxx and Vinai.

Even though the name Kaohsiung might not ring a bell to many Westerners, this city houses more than enough people to fill an arena with Tomorrowland lovers: its population is almost 3 million! This makes it the second-biggest city in Taiwan, and its lucky Unite attendees will correspondingly be viewing some big names through the stream: Alesso, Dimi & Mike, Armin and KSHMR will be relayed live. Dannic, Showtek, and Florian Picasso will be flown in to live up the party, and last but not least, local talents Junior & Royal and Russian trance DJ Feel will make sure this night is not forgotten anytime soon.

INCHEON

BARCELONA

South Korea

Spain

When we say Unite is Tomorrowland’s way of reaching out to the People of Tomorrow all over the world, ‘all over the world’ is really what we mean. Our bond reaches far beyond the grounds of the festival, Belgium’s borders or even continents, oceans, and frontiers of all other sorts. To share this experience in every possible way with, for instance, the city of Incheon in South Korea, is something we wouldn’t have dreamt of a few years ago. Now, the 8,700 kilometres between Boom and Incheon are completely diminished by Unite, amicorum ruling over allspectaculum forms of differences and language, customs and habits by the unearthly power of music. Ferry Corsten and Far East Movement will cross those many miles to deliver the essence of Tomorrowland and Unite to South Korea’s doorstep.

New York is the city that never sleeps, Barcelona is the city that never bores or discourages. No wonder that it has inspired many great and legendary as well as unknown artists, musicians and creatives through the ages. Barcelona, just like the rest of Spain, evokes a mindset and an adage that the Amicorum Spectaculum fits right in with. There’s a lot of common ground when it comes to our respective takes on life, which is something we feel should be cherished. Barcelona and Spain will Unite with Tomorrowland in the no less belgium than royal company of Afrojack, Steve Aoki and other greats.

LOVE TOMORROW It’s not just the Grounds of Tomorrowland that are Holy to us; this entire planet is. We’re not called the People of Tomorrow for nothing, are we? We believe in enjoying life to the fullest without having to compromise everything. We are responsible for the generation of tomorrow, we respect each other and Mother Nature. Respect, Health, Nature, Responsibility and Innovation are the five circles of Love Tomorrow. The Heart is the inner circle, representing passion, love and respect.

Responsibility: Tomorrowland has a direct impact on its direct environment. Water and energy consumption, emissions, the local community, the festivalgoers - all are impacted. Nature: Control the impact on the environment as much as possible, monitor and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Innovation: In order to generate innovation you need to open up the mind of your organisation, provide space and time for creativity, nurture all initiatives and motivate people on all levels, including your suppliers, to share their ideas. Health: Health isn’t just about a better and safer environment. It also means taking care of yourself. Living a balanced and healthy life, with sufficient attention to healthy food, physical exercise and rest. Respect: Respect each other and each other’s rights. Create a peaceful and safe environment without discrimination. We are all one.

Changing the way we think about waste
Waste is not just a disposable object: it’s a source of renewable items and materials. Waste is not something to get rid of as soon as possible in any possible way. Love Tomorrow makes people aware that most of their waste is a source of renewable materials. The Recycle Club makes it fun, easy and accessible to recycle.

Together we can

amicorum spectaculum

Last year, 30% less waste was deposited on the ground and hundreds of items were reused. With 360,000 people from all over the world gathering at Tomorrowland this year, we can make an even bigger impact on the future of our beloved planet together. Do something good today, and Tomorrow will thank you for it. Mother Nature will be ever so grateful.

22

Join in! Leading by example, Love Tomorrow makes focussing on the future easier by giving you a helping hand. That’s where the Recycle Club, probably the most inclusive club on the planet, comes in. They give every DreamVille visitor a Recycle Kit, consisting of specific recycling bags to separate your waste. The Recycle Club House isn’t just a place to drop off your PMD waste; they even celebrate you for it! Handing in full recycling bags will make you feel like an environmentally conscious hero, but it also gives you a chance of receiving many prizes such as bags and phone purses made of old TML materials, and dinner vouchers for the Tomorrowland Restaurant. The Recycle Club House and the 250 Recycle Points all across DreamVille will make recycling more accessible belgium than ever.

BUILDING THE FUTURE Thanks to the incredible generosity of the People of Tomorrow, the very first Love Tomorrow Music & Arts School in Nepal is now becoming a reality. Tomorrowland has been working closely with Belgian partner NGO CUNINA to create a school where all feel welcome and where values such as Responsibility, Nature, Innovation, Health and Respect play the lead roles. The construction of this school offers 300+ children the possibility to stimulate their creativity and their means of expression. Each student learns to trust their imagination and is encouraged to bring their ideas to life. After all, education is much more than simply learning how to read and write. To Tomorrowland, the creation of this school is a dream come true, and it couldn’t have been done without you.

You, the People of Tomorrow. are Tomorrowland’s biggest source of inspiration. You were the reason Tomorrowland got to grow, expand and develop the way it has. With that came a big responsibility for the ecological environment, meaning both the festival’s surroundings and the world at large. The Love Tomorrow Foundation, Tomorrowland’s international charity platform, offers support to both local and global projects that each contribute to a form of respect. The Love Tomorrow Music & Arts School is just one of those projects and with your support, many more will follow. Even though the school is coming to life and buzzing from all the creativity the children bring, it still needs as much support as it can get, and this means it needs you. Do you feel like being a part of this incredible journey? Hop by one of the Tomorrowland merchandise stores to purchase a Tomorrowland flag. For every flag that has been

sold, €5.- will be contributed to the Foundation. Want to contribute through your Pearls? Make sure to keep a close eye on the Love Tomorrow teams. They will be wandering around the festival grounds, searching for generous givers like you. The minimum donation is 2 Pearls, but you can give as much as you want to. It’s the price of a beer or a soft drink in exchange for eternal karma points! Do something good today. It will leave you, the Nepalese scholars and the Love Tomorrow team with that ultimate feeling of gratefulness. Learn more about the Foundation on www.lovetomorrow.com Learn more about CUNINA on www.cunina.org

Music, dance and arts form a strongly rooted part of Nepalese culture and playfulness is an important part of daily life. The Love Tomorrow Music & Arts school happily contributes to that.

LOVE EVERY DROP Belgium is known for its beers for a reason: they make ‘em well. Belgium-born Jupiler is arguably the most widely known beer brand of the country, which is why they partnered up with our beloved festival to create beautifully designed Tomorrowland Limited Edition Bottles just for you.

TAKING YOU TO THE HOME OF

TOMORROWLAND

If you didn’t arrive here by train, legs, wheels or water, you have probably just been hosted on a Brussels Airlines Partyflight. Since 2012, Brussels Airlines’ partnership with Tomorrowland has meant bringing music fans from all over the world to the biggest music festival of the year. After five years of working together to take fans to Belgium, Tomorrowland has captured a special place in Brussels Airlines’ heart. The airline considers it their mission to unite the People of Tomorrow – that’s you! – so that you can create unforgettable memories and long-lasting friendships. Of course, the first place you start to come together is on the way to the festival. So what better way to celebrate than with an airplane especially dedicated to you?

In February this year, Brussels Airlines inaugurated the fourth Airbus in their ‘Belgian Icons’ series – and it is entirely decorated in Tomorrowland style. The enchanted aeroplane, called Amare, was made especially with music and celebration in mind. If you’re firmly in the festival mood and party spirit, you’re at Tomorrowland just the way Brussels Airlines and Amare want you to be. Now go ahead, grab your first drink – and here’s to amicorum spectaculum Tomorrowland’s very first magical steel-winged bird!

INSIDE AND OUT Though we don’t endorse judging a book by its cover or a bottle by its label, we know you’re not just going to want these beautifully designed bottles and cans for their yummy contents, either. We’re telling you, these ones are keepers – they have the whole package, the best inside and out. The Jupiler bottles are available in regular stores, some of Belgium’s best bars and of course at the Brewery on the festival site itself. Every bottle has a unique code that could win you a duoticket to Tomorrowland. We can hear you thinking, “but wait, I’m here already?” However, we are convinced you don’t need us to tell you Tomorrowland is a full two weekends this year, do you? Exactly! Get yourself a Jupiler and we might see you again next weekend.

PHOTOGRAPHUM SPECTACULUM At the Jupiler Brewery by the main info point, you will find a photo booth where you and your amica belgium can dress up in style. In front of a beautifully made backdrop, you can deck yourself out with special outfits and gadgets, and have a Photographum Spectaculum made to take home as a souvenir.

TASTES OF THE WORLD wraps. The trio mentioned above is just fraction of all the finger-licking, happy-making choices you have when it comes to fueling your body. We believe there’s a proper timing for everything, and for food, that timing is always and anytime. Find our selection of some of the Tomorrowland Tastes of the World highlights below, get your appetite going, and discover many more for yourself.

What do superstars like ‘Crunchy Volcano’, ‘Polpette’ and ‘Urban Detox’ have in common? One thing’s for sure: you won’t find any of them behind the turntables. We also deem it highly unlikely that they know anything about music, for that matter. They do know a thing or two about energizing, though. They make sure you’re ready to take on a new day, to dance all night, and they also provide a little in-between moment of relaxation. That is, if you’re into sushi, homemade pasta or

B-EAT BY LAS VEGAS There’s simply no better feeling in the world than the one evoked by high quality food going hand in hand with the best possible beats. Judging by the success of previous editions, we know you feel the same way. Ever been lucky enough to experience the B-EAT phenomenon firsthand? Then you probably don’t need to be convinced of all of the reasons why it would be worth grabbing a bite and a beat again. To those who have not been part of B-EAT yet: there’s nothing we could say that would be worthy of this restaurant ride. Or should we call it a club-staurant? Either way, you will have to live it to fully grasp what we’re talking about. Contagious magic is guaranteed from the get-go, because the city of Las Vegas is the restaurant’s official host this year. And we all know that Vegas knows how to entertain!

TASTES OF THE WORLD RESTAURANT If you follow your senses to the Tastes of The World Restaurant you will be rewarded with a mouth-watering culinary journey around the globe. At Tastes of The World, serendipity is the magic word. This goes for the food as well as the kitchen, as the latter won’t be ruled by just one chef. Instead, the menu revolves around a different Tastes of The World Contest winner each day. The dishes are inspired by the winner’s personal perspective on good food, so prepare yourself for the unexpected and a new flavourful menu every day. BALLS & GLORY

FINJAN

MEXICAN NACHOS BY WILLY NACHO

Who would have thought balls could taste as glorious as the masterpieces of Balls & Glory? How does a mushroom and truffle, a tikka massala or a chili cheese meatball with a hidden, tasty filling sound to you? All of the meat used by the chefs stems from sustainable farming and for those in need of some meat-free glory, Balls & Glory also offers a vegetarian option. Whatever you choose, all of the balls are accompanied by a side of mashed potatoes and veggies. It’s the best spherical food in the world!

Middle Eastern food has been known for its tantalizing qualities for centuries. Whether it’s the spices, the colours or simply the explosive flavours, dishes that have their origins in this part of the world have never been accused of being bland. Finjan - the only pita bar included in the renowned Gault-Millau guide - is guaranteed to add some extra zing to the pitas from your (holiday) memories. Imagine a fresh flatbread, filled with wonderful meat or falafel and some crispy greens to go with it. All that is left to do is to close your eyes and wander off to one of those One Thousand and One Nights destinations.

Legend has it that his family invented the yummy yellow corn chips. Or is Willy Nacho simply his artist name? We don’t know for sure and to be honest, we couldn’t care less. Willy’s nachos are everything that matters in this peculiar matter, and we wouldn’t want to miss out on them for anything the world. Willy offers three options. Firstly, a Nacho Classic with a lovely tomato salsa, a savoury sour cream and grated Dutch cheese. Then there is the Mexican Taste plate. Think Mexican-spiced ground beef, grated cheese, sour cream and jalapeños that make for the tastiest kick in the butt. And if you agree that sharing is caring, go for the the platter of tortilla with Mexican hummus, an eggplant-tomato dish and guacamole to split with your crew.

BELGIAN STEAKHOUSE BY DE LAET & VAN HAVER Have you always wanted to experience authentic, local Belgian food? Or maybe you happen to be a little homesick, in need of the tases that make you proud to be Belgian again? De Laet & Van Haver will happily support both of these noble food causes. The stakes? A tantalizing menu of steaks. Although a good steak can soothe the senses on its own, it’s best enjoyed with some fried carbs. Preferably in the form the Belgians have been praised for all over the world! Indulge in their hand-cut Belgian fries to go with one of the evergreens: a Beef Steak or Simmental Steak, livened up by a traditional Belgian beer. Sounds like the perfect package for you? Make sure to book a table in advance, because the Steakhouse is never empty.

TOMORROWLAND RESTAURANT The Tomorrowland Restaurant offers you the perfect opportunity to cross that ‘Michelin Star Dinner’ from your bucket list. If you’ve done so already, then this is your the chance to cross that ‘Michelin Star Dinner with a phenomenal view of the Tomorrowland Mainstage’ off that list too. The Tomorrowland Restaurant would not be worthy of its name if it didn’t take the festival restaurant experience to a whole new level. Whether you’re a carnivore by heart, more of a fish lover, or a total veggie addict – it doesn’t matter. The Tomorrowland Restaurant experience offers a high-end, luscious two-course menu, a breathtaking view on the Mainstage, and also plays the music that amicorum spectaculum goes with it. This way, you won’t have to miss out on any of the highlights.

HAMBURGERS BY DE BURGERIJ

KOREAN FOOD BY KOREAN SNACKS

UMAMI

Every unforgettable festival experience deserves an unforgettable burger experience. De Burgerij knows exactly what it takes to make sure the latter is covered. You may have had the privilege to taste what we’re talking about during previous editions. But if you haven’t, and you love burgers as much as Tomorrowland does, the Hamburgers by De Burgerij stand should be on your festival itinerary. Savour a Classico Burger with all the perks that come with such a famous feast or have yourself a Kukelurie Burger with chicken, paksoi, soy and some zingy ginger.

Tomorrowland is always pleased and proud to add a new nationality to the incredible whole of visitors and artists – be they musical or gastronomical. This year, the Kim family (mother and daughter) has been invited to join us and share their straightforward view on festival food with you. There will be some dishes that probably won’t need any introduction, such as their stir fried noodles or deep fried spring rolls, but make sure to also try some Korean meatballs or Kimchi Dumplings. Because everything exotic offers new perspectives.

True adventurers are always searching for new encounters. One of this year’s culinary magicians caters to that objective perfectly. It goes by the name of Umami and is bound to bring you to the tastiest corners of Asia. Each of the Umami dishes is inspired by the rich fullness of the Indian kitchen, and designed to please both mind and soul as they all represent a healthy and hearty choice. Let the Punjab lamb curry, chicken Tikka Massala or the Tomato Vindaloo transport you to the shores of a sacred river overflowing with delicious tastes!

PEPPE’S HOMEMADE PASTA You know that saying that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is? Well, that is definitely, surely, undeniably not the case for Peppe’s Homemade Pasta. This pasta parlour knows the Italian kitchen through-and-through, and Peppe definitely understands that the way to a festival visitor’s heart is through his stomach. Offer yourself the gift of fancy pasta made with the freshest of ingredients. Will you fall for Peppe’s Polpette, Veggie Pasta or Lasagna? Proceed with caution, as each of these dishes will leave you wanting more.

GREENWAY The ultimate highway to sumptuous vegetarian and vegan sandwiches: Greenway. Known for its dependances in Belgian cities like Antwerp, Brussels, Leuven, and Gent, Greenway has been cooking up vegetarian dishes for two decades now. Its menu has been an eco-friendly and healthy landmark from the early days on and the Vietnamese and Korean Sandwiches they bring to Tomorrowland are like nothing you’ve ever tasted. The Korean sandwich is packed with flavour from a pulled barbecue soy, fragrant vanilla, kimchi aioli, and a crunchy salad, and it’s topped off with fresh herbs. Its Vietnamese sandwich sister is made of Vietnamese pulled soy, pickled vegetables, ginger-lemongrass aioli and a fresh herb salad. Going amicorum spectaculum green at a festival has never tasted this good!

Who doesn’t remember that moment of raw, beautiful emotion when Armin van Buuren announced the birth of his son live on stage at Tomorrowland 2013? This year Armin brings back A State of Trance and has another special something to tell you. No kids this time, but a musical baby!

After rocking our world in 2010 and 2014 with Murdock and Quest One MC, Netsky is stepping up his game this year with an entire stage of his own. Netsky & Friends builds upon the foundation laid in those memorable performances, and adds to it with names like Alison Wonderland and Snails.

Pretty much every musical Hall of Famer will be present this edition. Fatboy Slim and Markus Schulz, deadmau5, you name it. The latter can be found closing out the festival at the PRYDA stage on the second weekend. Tiësto’s back too, of course, after recently having released a new track called ‘BOOM’, in honour of the hometown of Tomorrowland.

There are many things that make Tomorrowland incredible. The magnificent Mainstage, the colourful creatures that roam this realm, the little intimate moments of love and happiness shared by one and all. Not to mention the main ingredient: you, the People of Tomorrow. As for the music that you like to hear, Tomorrowland has been exploring the boundaries since its very inception. For artists and audience alike, this weekend is the perfect opportunity to explore, expand and embrace their musical tastes. This year, the Amicorum Spectaculum is bringing us more unheard-of sounds than ever before. There are no restrictions, no borders between genres, no limitations on your musical experience, no judgement about personal preferences. Are you ready to explore? From the world’s biggest baby shower with Armin to Iranian superstars Blade & Beard, here are some of Tomorrowland’s most unique musical feats, selected from the past as well as both of this year's festival weekends.

Not only is Nick Bril the ambassador of the Tastes of the World restaurant at the festival; he also keeps his world famous restaurant The Jane in Antwerp running smoothly, and somehow he still finds time to polish his deejaying skills. Catch the culinary and musical jack-of-alltrades at the Ants and Diynamic stages.

Alter egos have been around for a while at Tomorrowland (Afrojack’s on the Daybreak Sessions line-up as ‘Nick van de Wal’ – his real name!), and this year we’ve got a bunch of famous artists under their lesser known monikers. Cirez D, Mescal Kid, NWYR, Gouryella… Who’s who? Come find out for yourself!

I Love Techno, the legendary Belgian party powerhouse, returns to Tomorrowland once more. They have a special treat for you this edition, bringing the founding fathers of the Detroit techno movement, The Belleville Three, to Belgium. A must-see for anyone craving some real and raw techno beats. Tomorrowland is host to a long list of fierce female artists every year. Take a peek this edition as Maya Jane Coles, Sandrien, Nina Kraviz, Daoud, Annie Hall, Rebekah, Krewella, MATTN, Alison Wonderland and many, many more strong names like these take over the stage.

Love is in the air! This year there are quite a number of power-couples playing back to back. Whereas Adam Beyer played alongside soulmate Ida Engberg in the past, this time there’s Niels Feijen and LYA. And Vision Machine with Natasja. And last but not least, DJ Unders with his significant other out of Berlin, Britta.

At the LEAF stage, the most sustainable stage of all, you can bear witness to a truly unique and special collaboration this weekend. Delafino will take the spotlight together with his daughter, Luna Fino, and share their special bond with the rest of the world for the first time.

A lot of things about the festival make it the diverse and international event it’s widely known to be. Just count the flags this weekend to get a sense of how many nationalities are united in this one place. THE GATHERING JULY 20TH 2017

If this is your first time at the festival, then welcome, and congratulations for making one of the best decisions of your life. While we’ll learn a whole lot more about each other over the course of the weekend, there’s something about Tomorrowland we want you to know up front: you’ll be made as comfortable as possible in every way. And one of those ways is called The Gathering. Instead of throwing you right to the wolves, you’ll be eased into the whole experience, so you won’t be overwhelmed by the madness right away. For several years now - so long that it’s become a tradition - DreamVille has been opening its gates on Thursday, making it more relaxed for campers to put up their tents. But as a means to really catch that festival fever, the day is livened up by a party that became notorious over the years. Don’t mistake The Gathering for a mere pre-party or a simple warm-up, because you won’t believe your eyes once you see it. The Gathering is no less than a full-speed-ahead spectacle that will immediately set the stage, get you in the mood, and make sure everyone is ready to enjoy the Amicorum Spectaculum that’s about to begin. DreamVille’s very own carnival of craziness has been the arena where local Belgian talent made the transition to the DJ champion’s league, and surprise visits by the likes of Afrojack and Tiësto proved to be just the sort of show needed to get those thousands of campers in shape for the rest of the weekend. Wonder what surprises this year’s Gathering will bring? Pitch that tent quickly and simply follow the sounds!

CARL COX

MAINSTAGE 12h00 - 15h00 Wake up and get your groove on, because for those of you who really like to focus on the music, we’ve got a breakfast date with the Daybreak Sessions lined up. The Mainstage is kicked off every day with a smooth, long set, helping you ease your way from quiet, magic DreamVille mornings into the pure madness that breaks loose at night on the Mainstage. And my, what a massive treat we have waiting for you on Friday! None other than larger-than-life techno legend Carl Cox will mix the festival’s very first beats on the Mainstage this early afternoon. For over thirty years Carl has been a leading name, an establishment in house and techno music. And he has been a Tomorrowland regular for years too, headlining or hosting several of the festival’s biggest stages. As he’s mostly the top name on the schedule, it’s very probable that he hasn’t played a set at noon very often – if ever. All the more reason to get excited, because in the past, DJs have been known to use the Daybreak Sessions to expose an artistic, musical side of themselves that no one’s heard before. With a three-hour set early on the day they get the chance to actually tell a story from the introduction to the ever-after. Devoid of all the pressure of keeping the audience right in that pumped-up mesmerizing zone of energy, the music is allowed to groom and ease its way into your body. When an artist like Carl Cox gets and takes on an opportunity like this, there’s no need for saying that you’re in for an amazing experience. This Session will make your musical heart beat faster while your brain feasts on an abundance of fresh impressions. What direction, style or mood will he start off with? Will he build up climaxing in the third hour or jiggle it up? What songs by what artists will he play and – God, please – will my Shazam recognize the tunes I like? Just musing upon the idea of Carl Cox playing a Daybreak Session scratches precisely that itch that us music amicorum fanatics cravespectaculum so hard. If you have ever said about yourself that you like music - good music - we expect you right at the front row, Friday at 12 p.m.

JOHAN GIELEN FOCUS ON MAGICAL FRIDAY TRANCE ENERGY | 17h30 – 19h00 The year 1999 gave birth to the most well-known trance festival ever: Trance Energy. The brand turned out to be a game changer for the trance community, connecting over 40,000 people from 60 different countries at its peak. After a long run of hugely successful events, 2013 was the year to say goodbye to the most remarkable brand trance music has ever known. Until 2017! Trance Energy is back with a very special hosting on Tomorrowland. Johan Gielen – trance legend from the beautiful country of Belgium – joined us to explain why this is the right moment for Trance Energy and Tomorrowland to combine forces and feature some premium quality trance. During the past years, Johan built a completely new concept called Trance Classics. Trance is starting to become more popular again at this moment, which got Johan thinking of new challenges. He pitched his concept to Tomorrowland, hoping to become a hosting partner. “Tomorrowland liked the idea, but couldn’t help to take it to another level. Their response, ‘But why don’t we just bring Trance Energy back to life?’ amicorum spectaculum started a fire and here we are! It’s fantastic to be a part of this comeback, of course; I never understood why they decided to stop in the first place. I’ve played at Trance Energy over fifteen

times and I never lost hope for a proper comeback. Trance is in a good state now, this is the right moment!” Tomorrowland is home to a large variety of music, of which trance has been a part for many years. Trance Energy is more than just music; it’s a tribute to trance in the purest way possible. “Tomorrowland is one of the best – or probably the best – festival(s) in the world. People from all over the world

“But why don’t we just bring Trance Energy back to life?” travel to this little Belgian village for such a massive event. To host a stage there with a capacity of around 12,000 people is a fantastic way for Trance Energy to bring back the old days. We combine the hardened and knowledgeable legends with the new generation, which is a very important thing to do in my opinion. The EDM generation, for instance, has no idea where their music actually comes from; they don’t even bother doing the research themselves. With this kind of collaborations the oldschool fanatics and their younger colleagues finally get the chance to meet in both a musical and a personal way.”

35

Johan recently noticed that his own event, Trance Classics, is also starting to show some changes in the type of people attending. “More and more often I see these curious young people joining our crowd, and our fans, on average, are usually a little older and more experienced. Times are obviously changing and trance is promising to get a lot more popular in the next few years.” Which explains why Johan and his friends were more than welcome to host their own area at Tomorrowland. But what is Trance Energy? “Trance Energy is just all about the experience and nothing but the experience. Not only music-wise, but the whole entourage around it makes it so unique. For me trance was never gone, it was maybe a bit less popular at some point, but a whole new generation has arrived. They’re ready to be introduced to the world of trance. We are taking our finest artists to represent pure trance of the highest quality available. I’m also preparing a really nice set with my buddy, taking our best work and projecting it in the best way possible in our set at Tomorrowland. I really hope it will be a great success, and I hope to see you all there!” Like almost every genre, trance has had its ups and downs. This year it is back, back with the one and only Trance belgium Energy, which in turn is the very first hosting partner to take the new Momentum stage (number 1 on the map) for a test drive. Curious yet? You heard the big man – see you there!

NORA EN PURE MAINSTAGE 12h00 - 15h00

You’ve shown how it is done on Friday with Carl Cox’ Daybreak Session, so we do expect you to get right into it with Saturday’s Daybreak Session, featuring deep house diamond Nora En Pure. For no less than three hours, she will take your hand and guide you through her very own wonderland of deep, melodic and soulful musical discoveries. Mainly operating in the places, scenes and outskirts of the world where deep house finds its fertile ground, the Daybreak Sessions fit Nora En Pure like a glove. Hailing from Switzerland, but with South African roots, she’s expressed a need to arouse feelings of bliss and inject unconventional and serene sensations into the world through her music. Actions speak louder than words, though, and she’s been putting her money where her mouth is with chart topping singles like ‘Come With Me’ and ‘You Make Me Float’. Belgian people have an ethic of expecting themselves as well as others to put in effort and hard work into everything they do – which might just let Nora grow out to be the home audience’s favourite, as she’s already proven to be quite productive. Her deep and funky works of audio engineering have been picked up by labels like Enormous Tunes and Tokenish. Her background has had a huge influence on her sound, often leaning towards a blend of tropical and tribal percussions with melodies played by classical instrumentation. It’s the kind of music Summer was invented for, it’s the ice in your mojito, the last few rays of light before the horizon swallows up the sun. And it’s just the kind of gentle push you need to wipe the last few drops of sleep out of your eyes and make the rest of the day count for double. These three hours of sun-kissed bliss will be the best time to free your mind from all those worries, to allow yourself to hand over the remote of your self-control to Nora. She’ll show you how to fly and float – so whether amicorum you’re alreadyspectaculum putting out the day’s first dance moves or just soaking up the sunshine, Nora En Pure is set to provide an experience that will cast an even warmer feeling on your shoulders.

RANSOM FOCUS ON INCREDIBLE SATURDAY Q-DANCE | 12h00 - 13h00 After their debut at Pussy Lounge’s Wintercircus in 2015, Ransom’s career exploded almost instantly. Their act is unique, creative and apart from the fact that Remko van der Steen and Teun van Esch are musical centipedes, their signature appearance and performance complete the concept of a perfect freestyle artist in the harder styles. This Saturday, Ransom will open the most powerful and overwhelming stage of all Tomorrowland: Q-dance. The Q-dance stage has been an important part of Tomorrowland for years, representing the harder styles of dance music with the broadest perspective possible – as might be expected from the biggest promoter hardstyle has ever known. Even though the main focus is on hardstyle for this year’s Q-dance stage, Ransom will kick off at midday with a more versatile sound, combining anything they can think of into an hour of freestyle madness. So what exactly are these guys up to? “Beats and bills,” is Remko’s resolute answer. “Overwhelming music and a lot of dollars presented by a DJ and an MC wearing a proper suit and a suitcase to every gig. That case filled with customised 100-dollar stacks is basically our gimmick, and it’s become sort of a trademark by now. We liked the name Ransom a lot and wanted it to be more than just another act, so we came up with a performance that matches our amicorum spectaculum style and name. This whole dollar-bill act might not be the best idea now that we are also starting to get gigs in the United States, but we will find a solution for that, haha.”

The ‘United Members of Ransomnia’ bills are a smart move: if you’ve visited a harder styles event in the past year, chances you’ve asked yourself where all those dollar bills came from. It all started, as these things go, serendipitously. Remko: “I began this project some years ago, it used to be a solo initiative. At some point I was playing at an event hosted by Teun, who happened to grab the mic during my set. We felt a strong chemistry right away and I really liked his sound, which resulted in Teun travelling with me for a year as my own MC. At some point this all felt so good that we realized we should turn this act into a duo and Teun made the choice to join me on stage permanently.” It turned out to be a very good decision; the gentlemen turned their act into a phenomenon within just a few years. Their style is hard to define and most certainly not limited to a single genre. “Our productions really represent who we are. We really like too much of the harder styles to limit our view to just one of them. For this reason most of our bookings focus on the ‘freestyle’ sound that is so huge in the Netherlands right now, but abroad people might respond very differently to it all. I will have to figure that out this weekend, and I’m excited to introduce Tomorrowland’s extremely international crowd to our madness.” Of course, this particular gig is no walk in the park. “We’ve already performed at Defqon.1 Festival, Q-BASE, and now we are asked to join Q-dance at their Tomorrowland stage. Words can’t describe how weird it is to see all those dreams come true in such a short time.

37

The fact that Q-dance – who mainly focus on hardstyle – chose us to open their stage in Boom this weekend is a huge honour.” Even though Ransom are mostly known for their freestyle performances, this is not necessarily the label they would give themselves. They love the freestyle concept since it makes them free to do whatever they want, but in the meantime, they also try to develop their own sound. “Freestyle events in the Netherlands have quite a lot in common, even though the music that could be labelled ‘freestyle’ covers a much broader spectrum. We recently finished a remix of LNY TNZ, for instance. This is also freestyle, but it’s a bit different from what you’d usually hear at such events. So we like to approach things with as open an attitude as possible. Combining urban and trap with hardstyle or even raw hardstyle is just great fun to do. We want to keep developing and never be afraid to push the boundaries a little more. Hopefully one day this will bring us to stages we can only dream of right now!” Only one year ago, Remko and Teun thought they could only dream of joining Q-dance at Tomorrowland, so who knows what the future will bring? One thing’s for certain: you won’t get bored with these guys on stage. The act, the music and the variation they manage to compress into just an hour are simply insane. Performing at Tomorrowland is a well-deserved achievement for Ransom. belgium Make sure to run to the Q-dance stage as soon as the gates open on Saturday to witness this harder styles supernova going off!

MARKUS SCHULZ MAINSTAGE 12h00 - 15h00

After having created the Earth, God took a good long siësta on Sunday. It’s an example which we by no means intend to follow, as there is an abundance of quality music awaiting to dance to on this final day of your Tomorrowland weekend. If you have been the good, joyous, happy music addict you were expected to be, you’ve started both yesterday and Friday with a Daybreak Session - thumbs up to you! And you should never change a winning team, so let’s hold on to waking up with a nice, three-hour-long Daybreak Session, brought to you on Sunday by Markus Schulz. Forged in the fires of Arizona’s notorious ‘90s rave scene and considered one of the leading names in the genre, Markus Schulz’ moniker ‘the hardest working man in trance’ says it all. Whether as a radio DJ with broadcasts all over the world, as a DJ playing over 150 shows a year, or as a producer making stunning tracks filled with dark, dramatic trance: it seems that for Markus Schulz, there are more than 24 hours in one day. He’s remixed everyone from Giorgio Moroder to Madonna. His dance-floor bound adventures have met with critical acclaim. Through his effortless audience affinity, flawless mixing, instinctive tune selection and famous open-to-close sets, he has wowed crowds in every major city on Earth. Do trance music and the afternoon sun mix well together? Letting memories of Schultz’s darkest own tracks flickering through the most gloomy corners of your braincells, you may think that they don’t. But it’s a bet that can go either way: with the Daybreak Sessions, you never know just what the DJ is going to play. But isn’t that exactly the kind of musical enigma that gets all of us bursting out with excitement and curiosity? At any rate, trance han’t received its name for no reason. If you’re up for a thrilling, continuous wave of trippy basslines amicorum spectaculum and soaring melodies, come and freshen up that morning face at the Mainstage, 12 p.m. sharp. Whatever he decides to play, Markus Schulz will make it a ride to remember.

CHARLOTTE DE WITTE FOCUS ON GLORIOUS SUNDAY DAVE CLARKE PRESENTS | 16h30 – 18h00 At the tender age of 18, having won Studio DJ life, though. “Long flights, lack of sleep and being on my Brussel’s DJ contest, Charlotte de Witte landed own a lot don’t bother me, especially not when compared to her very first Tomorrowland gig. Being a techno DJ, Charlotte has reached one of the highest “I’m going to have a lot of fun this weekend,” Charlotte imaginable honours: being booked by ‘The Baron’, Dave says as she paints the picture of how a DJ experiences Clarke himself, to play at his very own stage. “I got to know Tomorrowland. “It’s actually going to be my birthday Dave at ADE last year when I first played at one of his weekend, I’ll be turning 25 on Friday. He’s been very supportive since, and now here Studio Brussel studio. Then, it’s off to Carpentras, where we are!” This may be a dream come true for De Witte, but I’m actually playing another festival. On Sunday morning, I it hasn’t always been her dream. When she started DJ’ing go back to Boom to play amidst my idols at the Dave Clarke seven years ago, she was much more about electro. “As much as it’s an honour to share the Dave Clarke Presents stage Presents stage.” amicorum spectaculum with a number of my techno idols, it’s also an honour to share Ain’t no rest for the wicked, then – and this is actually a the I Love Techno stage with Boys Noize, who is an old favourite relatively relaxed weekend for her. De Witte enjoys the busy of mine and an icon in the scene.” Ultimately, finding her place in

the techno scene was a long, gradual process. “You keep looking for tracks you like, listening to and buying a lot of music. Then, when you know what you want to do and start producing, you get picked up and sort of automatically find your place within the scene.” And her place is dark, barebones, hypnotic techno. “This sort of techno makes me very happy, even though it’s dark music. I think it carries hope, I think it’s wonderful, beautiful.” DJ through and through, Charlotte attempts to share her love for darkness, both on stage and in the studio. “In the studio, I try to represent something of mine, to give you something that is mine. It comes from who I am and what I believe in. That’s a sort of egoistic luxury that you have as a producer: you can do something that is completely your own. I don’t think about conveying a message, it just has to be good music, it has to be able to touch people and push them to move, to interact.” If the latter sounds like fun to you, but you’re not sure if you like techno (yet), Charlotte has only one recommendation to make. “Tiga once said that most contemporary electronic music is based on just two very old genres: house and techno. So if you like what they call ‘EDM’, and the music that’s played at the mainstage – if you’re interested in its origins, this is it. Come and have a listen, learn where it all comes from, see what you can recognize.” We can do nothing but affirm this friendly piece of advice: the world of techno is a wonderful world, and Charlotte de Witte knows it inside and out. Come, and be belgium taken on a journey!
