TO THE ELIXIR OF LIFE Another year has passed, and yet again we gather. An exuberant scent has lured us here; the essence of life itself awoke our sense of smell. We came here by the thousands, gathered at the entrance to an undiscovered land. But for now we will not enter – what lies within can wait a day. First, we make camp and celebrate our Gathering. We open up our senses to the sight of smiles, which are beaming all around; we feel the powerful caress of bass notes, and hear a vibrant harmony of highs; we can taste our happiness increasing as we dance away the day and night. And aren’t our nostrils pierced with

the liveliest and most diverse of smells? We smell alluring foods, peculiar canvas, sweet and dizzying drinks, diverse, rich people, young and earthy grass – and in the distance, we discern the scent that brought us here, that binds all else together. It is the story of this fragrance that we, friends, will write together. The recipe for the perfume was long thought lost, the Elixir of Life presumed forgotten. But we are here now, and it is time. Starting today, each and every one of you rediscovers their own greatest secret – from within, everyone distills the very essence of Life.

Not only having spawned two successful edition of the festival, but also a feature film and a TV series, the past year was again a fruitful one for Tomorrowland. In Belgium, People of Tomorrow were welcomed into the Kingdom of Melodia, its Castle a more impressive Mainstage than ever. Those in the U.S. and in Brazil, on the other hand, were treated to a reprise of the Key to Happiness. And finally, there was the great success of Tomorrrowland Unite. May the Elixir of Life be just as prolific!

THE ORIGINS OF LIFE

Life is the one thing that all creatures of this world share, and indeed, the very thing that binds them together. This year, Tomorrowland gathers close to two hundred thousand of those creatures in search of Life’s Elixir. They come by many means, and from very many places. From sixty-eight different cities around the globe, 113 flights have been arranged to take some of the most long-distance travellers to Tomorrowland, adding to the grand total of 19,000 Global Journey participants. Some of them will be staying in one of 26 hotels in Boom’s vicinity, four of which are Tomorrowland-themed. But most of them are going to DreamVille, where

they join independent travelers, adding up to a grand total of 38,000 guests. Others again will have come by bus; a new travel package this year, bus journeys came from countries close to Belgium and were treated to a BBQ en route. Some happy campers went on a Discover Belgium or Discover Europe trip, too; elaborate travel programmes meant to showcase the most magical sights, cuisine, activities, and of course, parties in Belgium and Europe, respectively. Of course, numbers and transportation mean nothing if the stay is no good – but of course, all of that has been arranged. At DreamVille, there are more options than ever to choose

from, from bringing your own tent to staying at a luxury Dream Lodge, Cabana or Mansion, with room for a bunch of friends included. And at the Tomorrowland-themed hotels, there is not a care in the world, with guests receiving everything from midnight snacks to magical gifts on a daily basis. Whatever their way here or the place where they stay, the People of Tomorrow have one thing to be most proud of: their enormous diversity. Almost all of the world’s nationalities have come together again in Boom – to distill their common essence, the Elixir of Life.

There are many locations where you can find free networks, all around the Tomorrowland grounds as well as on the DreamVille marketplace. Go to one of the sites indicated on the map in the centerfold of this paper, and look for the ‘Free WIFI Tomorrowland’ SSID. You’ll automatically be taken to a login portal where you need to press ‘Free internet access’. Then, you can use Google or Facebook to gain access, or create a Wifree account. In either case you’ll be able to enjoy free internet for 24 hours. More than enough to share every last fairy, every magical impression, every whiff of the Elixir of Life that you’ve caught with the rest of the world!

THE WORLD’S BEST TV SHOW With over 21 million hits on YouTube for the 2015 aftermovie and over 1 million live-streamers last year, there was no discussion in shooting this baby back into the airwaves: Tomorrowland TV! TML TV stands for three days with six hours of live television each, meant to document the magic of the weekend perfectly. A team of 150 will put together a full blown TV-show from a special Tomorrowland TV studio inside the Mainstage, as well as from various live spots around the immense grounds. That way even those who weren’t able to get their hands on a ticket will have the chance to witness the most extraordinary festival experience ever.

EARS TO LAST A LIFETIME It is said that once you drink of the Elixir of Life, you’ll live forever – but surely, you’d want to be able to enjoy music forever, too? Hearing protection is absolutely necessary for that. At Tomorrowland, protective earplugs are provided by BLOX. Their customized plugs provide maximum protection at minimum loss of sound quality, and range in price from €3 to about €20. Buy them at one of the Fashion shops or at the BLOX stands by the day entrance and on DreamVille!

TOMORROWLAND GO!

Gotta catch ‘em all! The DJs, that is… And for that, well, we’ve just got just the perfect app. Because during these days of dance revelry, it is possible to get caught up in time or follow the wrong kind of lead: you don’t want to end up right in front of a Pikachu when you were actually looking for a toilet with mild urgency. To help you navigate through the web of DJs and stages, Tomorrowland has yet again developed a handy app for your smartphone. The one and only map to guide you to all the little corners, hide-outs, stages and all kinds of rarities the festival has to offer. Download the app through the Tomorrowland website, or find it in your Google Play or App Store.

DAYBREAK SESSIONS: ALL DAY EVERY DAY Two years ago, Tomorrowland installed its infamous Daybreak Sessions trademark during the festival’s tenth anniversary. The concept highlights the rich musical palette offered at Tomorrowland, and it is an inspiring way to make the transition from the quiet magic as the doors open to the pure madness that breaks loose in the evenings on the Mainstage. This year, Tomorrowland will be releasing its first Daybreak Sessions compilation. Buy one in order to relive the slow magic of the Daybreak Sessions, wherein a headliner gets the opportunity to create a 3-hour DJ set of his or her favourite deep and tech-house, starting when the first visitors make their way into the valley until the Mainstage area fills up three hours later. Clichés are shattered, artists get to spread their wings and the audience is invited on a journey in that unforgettable Mainstage setting.

365 DAYS OF

HAPPINESS Well, well, well, fellow People of Happiness, what a year it has been! It’s been 362 days since we last saw each other on these holy, nay, magical grounds of De Schorre in Boom, celebrating this grand feast of beats, dance, love and happiness that is known around the globe as Tomorrowland. A lot has happened (good and bad) and a lot didn’t happen (Belgium didn’t win the European Championship!). Through all of it we stuck together, whether it was nearby or from a distance, in spirit. You’ve been sorely missed, that’s for sure, but Tomorrowland has also made sure that you didn’t have to miss out for a full year. This was 2015’s journey of Tomorrow.

What happened since the King of the Secret Kingdom of Melodia last closed his eyes in Belgium in summer 2015? We travelled around the world, came across new and exciting places, met new people and discovered fresh tunes to fill that little place between your ears with the honey-like chimes of techno, dance and all their derivatives that we love just as much. Tomorrow was taken on the road again, only to get closer to where you are. And while the King (and the little birds and bees that inhabit De Schorre for the rest of the year) enjoyed a more than welcome and well-earnt night’s sleep, the story continued as the circus left town and set sail to distant shores across the ocean, to the land behind the horizon that is known as America.

We touched land in the United States, where we set up our tents in Georgia and hiked all the way up the Chattahoochee Hills, coming upon the third edition of TomorrowWorld - the not-so-little-anymore North American brother of Tomorrowland held in September. It is in those beautiful and shamrock-green hills that the Key to Happiness was found once again. With your help, the doors were unlocked, enabling the magical Machine to set free all that is right, just and beautiful in this world. You were in your absolute best form and not even the gushing rain could’ve changed anything about that. But when all was said and done, despite the warm welcome and the homecoming-like feeling of being back in Georgia, Tomorrow was destined to get out of town once again, and hit the road to even more exotic destinations.

And at the same time that Tomorrowland was brought to the world, the world was also brought to the Belgian audience as the This Was Tomorrow movie was premiered at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp. It is an extraordinary piece of film that outlines all the highlights of Tomorrowland 2015 from across the world, along with the most beautiful stories of the People of Tomorrow and some of the biggest DJs in the world. Along with Tomorrowland TV series People of Tomorrow, the movie was brought back to the world and released on Netflix earlier this year.

While the festival caravan roamed the earth, Tomorrowland had to make sure not to neglect the home front - never ever forget the home front! (Seriously, have you called your mom and let her know you’re OK yet? She’ll love you even more for doing so.) And in order to let everyone enjoy and share our happiness, Tomorrowland opened up two unique concept Boutiques, one in Antwerp and one in Boom. In these stores you were able to discover the official new fashion collection, exclusive items, and a History Room featuring relics of one rich decade of Tomorrowland; you were able to get behind the same decks that were touched by the likes of Avicii and Armin van Buuren. Of course, the whole experience was hosted by our beautiful Tomorrowland-elves, always there to guide you to the fitting room.

We travelled over rocky mountains, deserted desert plains, one enormous canal and a stretch of Amazon jungle to touch down again near São Paulo, Brazil, earlier this year in April. Surely a nation of hearts beating on the same relentless rhythms of samba and carnival would open up their arms to welcome Tomorrowland and the gifts of music it bears? Hell yes they did! We have to say: wow, São Paulo, you people sure know how to spice a party up! The Book of Wisdom held no surprises for you because as far as partying, feeling the vibes and spreading the love goes: there’s not much the Brazilian people have to learn. You made this second edition of Tomorrowland Brasil even better, bolder and bigger than the first one. But all of that was yesterday, and this is Tomorrow. So now we back-to-the-future ourselves to this day and get together in this very moment as the gates are opened once again. Welcome, and let’s have at it, shall we?

Even the most experienced travelers among us sometimes forget something. For the majority of you, the journey has been long and intense, with countless obstacles on your way. Here you’ll find everything you need, think you need or maybe even didn’t know you needed in order to build that tent! If so desired, you can pump up your inflatable cradle for a small fee, too. The Camping Store is located at the Marketplace.

WISE MEN OF DREAMVILLE They may not have long grey beards or pointy hats, but the camping hosts wandering around DreamVille are as wise as the mightiest wizard. Are you lost? They’ll point you in exactly the right direction. An adventurer in search of the next spectacle to uncover? Our guides know just the place, time and thing. You can recognize the guardians of DreamVille by their brightly-coloured attire and helpful inclination. Whatever calamity or curiosity you wish to bestow upon them, they have the knowledge you seek.

Ah, the smell of freshly baked bread and pastry in the morning. Take a deep breath, let this magnificent odor wake up the hungry hippo in you. Move on over to the Bakery at the Marketplace. Give in to your desire, let it fill you up - every loaf made with the finest of ingredients, and a little bit of love. Recharge yourself with the breakfast of champions and get ready for the many, many miles you’ll be dancing today.

ANGELS OF BEAUTY If you feel the need to feel even more beautiful than you already are, the Angels of Beauty have you covered. Masters of their craft, they’ll give you the haircut, make-up, or make-over you desire, and then some. Not feeling like struggling with that tiny mirror in your suitcase, or the brush that’s stowed somewhere near the bottom of your luggage? Hop on by, the Angels are here to help you.

BUTCHER’S

For those who favour the hearty flavours of meat, the butcher has set up shop again too. Here, you can pick whatever sort of meat you desire. Grab some friends and walk over to one of the designated BBQ areas – see your map for locations – and you can prepare your prey on one of the professional-grade barbecues already set up there. The best part? You get sauce for free! But come on time: on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the BBQ zones are only opened ‘till 16:00.

Security

Please wear your activated Tomorrowland bracelet upon arrival. If you don’t need to bring a backpack or bag, please leave it at home or at DreamVille. There will be an extra checkpoint for backpacks and bags with special screening, so without bags or backpacks you will be able to enter the festival faster.

First Aid

You can find First Aid stations at the Marketplace and by the Main Avenue, between the Easytents and the Montagoe. First Aid stations can be recognized by the red cross emblem – look for it on your map, too. If you or your friends have a medical issue, never hesitate to contact First Aid!

Pharmacy

For less immediate medical issues, the pharmacy of service on Thursday is ‘Apotheek Peeters’, opened ‘till 22:00. Find them at Antwerpsestraat 379, 2850 Boom, by the A12 highway. www.aposite.be/peeters2850/

Lost and Found

LAUNDRY GARDEN Traveling from all the corners of the globe, there’s bound to be some sweat on your back arriving at Tomorrowland. Even if you somehow managed to stay crispy clean on your way here, get ready to get down and dirty dancing your behinds off this magical weekend. At the Laundry Garden you can hand in those dirty clothes and get them cleaned by a dedicated crew. Enjoy a cup of coffee at the bar while your attire is taken care of. Pick them up after a little bit, so you’re ready to take on the day not only looking, but smelling fresh as well!

The Info Desk with Lost & Found point can be found by the Rainbow West. If you’ve found or lost anything, drop by here to turn it in or look for it. Found items can also be turned in at the district houses – they’ll be taken to Lost & Found from there.

Have your friends gone to bed already, leaving you wide awake and hungry for more? Or are you hungry for food after a long raving day, looking for a hot bite and good company? The completely new DreamVille Chillout has got you covered. In this secluded area, accessible from the Marketplace and Magnificent Greens, everyone is welcome to enjoy some relaxed moments in the morning as well as in the evening. Kick back with a game of beach volley, (table) tennis or petanque, or warm up for a raving day with a round of beer pong; it’s all there.

WAKE UP FRESH!

Of course, hungry stomachs can’t be ignored either. Starting at 07:00, breakfast is available, turning into lunch (both walk-in and online pre-order) at 11:00, and going on ‘till 15:00. After a short closing time in the afternoon you can return for midnight snacks from 21:00 onwards. Offerings include croques, pastas, and fries, depending on the time of day. This Thursday, the Chillout will be opened all day and there will even be a DJ playing – and the even better part is: the Chillout is opened ‘till 02:30 every night. So if you come back thirsty after a long day at Tomorrowland, here’s where to drop by!

To douse thyself in the showers at DreamVille isn’t just a matter of good hygiene. To cleanse one’s body is to reset the soul for another day of wonders. From early in the morning to late in the afternoon you may purify those sweaty armpits, relax your strained dancing muscles and put on a fresh pair of groovy pants all in the comfort of the DreamVille showers, located all over the terrain. Do keep the spirit of Love Tomorrow in mind, and try to limit the water usage to what’s necessary. Spread the wealth that is water! On Thursday, only the Red district and Easytent showers are opened, from 18:00 – 22:00. Friday through Sunday, showers are opened in all districts, 06:00 – 17:00. On Monday, you can take a final dive from 07:00 – 12:00. On Thu, Fri – Sun 08:00 – 13:00, and Mon, a shower costs 2.5 Pearls; outside of these times, you can refresh yourself for only one Pearl. Easytent visitors always pay only 1 Pearl.

SILENCE FOR PEACE

“Silence is the missing voice in public debate” – this is one of the insightful mottoes of silenceforpeace, a new peace initiative that will make its presence heard at DreamVille. Heard, that is, in the form of a momentary absence of sound to which everyone is welcome to contribute. Every morning on the festival days, sessions will be held at the Chillout area and the Friendship Garden / Easytents district houses. They consist of a 20 minute yoga session which is then put to the use for which it was originally intended: to prepare the yogi to simply sit in silence. Thus, the yoga session is followed by a 15-minute period in which no one speaks or makes a sound. Anyone willing to join, or simply curious, is heartily invited to join at 10 or 12 a.m. You’ll soon experience how embracing silence engenders inner peace as well as new solutions to the conflict and turmoil in the world.

Transport. How do you get to the festival? a) You’ve made sure there are plenty of friends with cars, and you’ve divided the passengers evenly amongst them. b) Your mate offered to drive, so you are on snack-duty while your other friend sorts the playlist for the road trip out. c) Errr… the bus? Or maybe you’ll hitch a ride with someone offering on the Facebook page? 3. Who are you sharing a tent with? a) A friend of a friend who tagged along. You could get on with anyone, plus, you couldn’t be bothered to ‘reserve a slot’. All that fuss! b) Your best friend of course! You already agreed on that last year. c) Well, Frank and Dave are sharing one tent, and you’ve made sure Iva and Lucas share another (it’s about time they hooked up, you’ve been trying for ages!). Then Rick, Malik and Gennaro share another, so you’ve slotted yourself in with Shiobhan and Susie. This will be fun! 4. Morning! Festival day 1 is ready to commence. You: a)… brought everyone coffee and copies of Tomorrowland Today. Plus, you have an extra surprise… You brought matching T-shirts for everyone in the group! b)… heard there is a morning yoga class happening, so you’ve gone off to explore. c)… can’t wait for everyone to get ready and head out together to the festival grounds!

It’s 7 p.m. and you’re starting to feel more than a little munchy. What do you do? a) You go get food, obviously. The tacos looked tempting! b) You round everyone up and send different people with separate orders for different food, while you guard the picnic spot for the whole group. c) You’ve spotted your DreamVille neighbours in line at the pancake place, so you join them for food and some dancing after. You came here to dance, not browse your phone, anyway! On Monday morning: a)… you pack up your tent with those of your friends who actually made it back to camp. You’ve met so many lovely people over the past days, made so many memories with your friends, you’re already excited about next year! b)… you wake up at home. You met these people last night who were driving back to Antwerp, and it would save you the trouble of queueing up this morning. So you jumped on the occasion and made it on the first train back home! c)… have everything packed and ready and you’ve got coffee for everyone who’s driving. There’s only one friend missing, but you’ve already contacted him and he will meet you at the car park in an hour while you pack up his things. Whew! Time to catch up on sleep!

Put your bracelet securely on your right arm. It’s not only your entrance ticket to the festival and DreamVille; it’s also where you keep your Pearls. No need to stress about losing your tokens anymore! It’s possible that you’ve already bought Pearls from home, but if not, head to one of the Top Up stands on DreamVille or Tomorrowland. There, you can use cash, credit cards and debit cards to add Pearls to your bracelet. The minimum amount is €20.-, and in return you get 13 Pearls. Make up your mind on what you’d like to have and go to the food and drink stands! Tap your bracelet to the reader twice: the first time is to place your order and check the price, the second time to actually pay for the order. Enjoy! TODAY WE TALK ABOUT TOMORROW A better future for everybody and everyone: that’s exactly what Love Tomorrow stands for. Love Tomorrow grew from the roots of Tomorrowland’s broader mission to cooperate in creating a more sustainable society. The People of Tomorrow share a responsibility towards tomorrow’s generation and Tomorrowland carries out that commitment with Love Tomorrow. Their inspiration and vision for a better future are drawn from respect, health, nature, responsibility and innovation, and it is within these 5 pillars that Love Tomorrow initiates a number of different projects. The tagline is simple: “Let’s engage with each other and do something good today.”

Tomorrowland’s very own Love Tomorrow Foundation is building a music and arts school in Nepal together with Belgian NGO Cunina. You yourself can contribute to this cause we share together, by buying a Love Tomorrow flag. By doing so you automatically donate 4 euros to the Love Tomorrow Foundation. And here’s why that’s so very important.

CUNINA & SEKHA NGO Cunina has been active in six countries around the world for the last 25 years. They’re convinced (and they’re right) that education is the key towards a better future, a way out of the vicious circle of poverty. As far as Cunina is concerned, it’s not just having access to education that’s important, but also the quality of it. And it’s right there that Love Tomorrow and Cunina have found each other. Together they chose this project in Sekha, in the heart ofBelgium the Nepalese mountains; a location that

was picked for a number of reasons. One is that Nepal’s population has 30% of illiterates, even though education is free and primary school is mandatory for kids between 6 and 11 years old. Unfortunately, the quality levels of the state schools are rather low while private schooling is very expensive. Only half of all Nepalese kids go to school; a number that’s even lower up in the mountains. On top of all that, a destructive earthquake in April made things even worse than they already were.

PEARLS FOR DIAMONDS All profits of the Guest Tickets, Secret Resto tables and the Love Tomorrow flags will go to Cunina’s beautiful project. The festival itself also contributes to the cause, but it mostly comes down to you, the People of Tomorrow. Every visitor had to activate his or her bracelet when they received it; at the same time, you were also able to buy Pearls, Tomorrowland’s currency. When you activated the bracelet you had the option to donate 2 Pearls to the Love Tomorrow Music & Arts School and thus contribute to a better future for our little diamonds in Nepal. The Love Tomorrow Foundation is Tomorrowland’s international charity platform through which support is given both local and global initiatives that are fundamentally positive. This year the organization is set to build the very first Love Tomorrow Music & Arts School in Sekha, Nepal, together with Belgian NGO, Cunina. Every year from now on, Tomorrowland will select ingredients based on their quality and, equally important, their biological character. All the chefs can get creative with the list of ingredients and process them in their dishes. Of course you’re curious to hear some examples of the mouthwatering recipes the chefs of Tomorrowland have come up with – here’s a bunch: there’s fresh watermelon available in the smoothie stands, all the fries that are served come from fresh potatoes, the inventive chefs from Callebaut create a mix of chocolate and traditional Belgian dishes (such as fries). Vegalicious! That’s the best word to describe the fragrant, fresh and spicy sandwiches of this frontrunner in the healthy food trend that the rest of the world has also adopted. At this Antwerp, Ghent, Brussels, and Leuven-based restaurant chain, they’ve known for over 20 years that you have to pay attention to what you put in your mouth. Their sandwiches are completely vegan, but all the more delicious.

SWA & MARIEKE

They’ve only made their debut at Tomorrowland recently, but are already among the household names of the festival. There’s Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, and there’s this incredible duo that’s making people happy at Tomorrowland. The freshly prepared fries of Swa & Marieke – nothing is pre-baked or deep-frozen – were such a hit last year that many people will be longing for their first bite of real Belgian fries this year again.

BALLS & GLORY

Wandering around all day at the festival site can eventually get you a little bit tired and hungry. If you experience such a moment, you’d better hope you’re close to the Balls & Glory stand! The gratifying meatballs that are served by Belgian TV chef Wim Ballieu and his team will have you up on your feet and dancing in no time. There’s many different flavours to try out, including one with truffles. One meatball not enough? Try the Belgian mashed potatoes on the side.

FISH & CHIPS

Even for some good old-fashioned English fish and chips Tomorrowland is the right place. The combination of fresh cod and Belgian fries handed to you at the Fish & Chips stand is astonishing. Your meal comes stylishly wrapped in a newspaper, like it’s supposed to, to give you the traditional feeling that always comes with fish and chips. Oh, and the accompanying traditional tartar sauce, which is made on-site at Tomorrowland, is second-to-none.

The incredible star-studded line-up of Tomorrowland is unmatched in the world, and so is the food line-up. Michelin chef Bart Depooter returns to Tomorrowland this year with his quality food. His Tomorrowland beef burger (100% beef) catches the eye, but don’t underestimate the delicious wraps he makes either. They come with chicken, smoked salmon or carpaccio. Chef Depooter’s stand is definitely worth a visit; after all, you can’t get a burger or wrap made by a world-class chef every day…

ALBERTO, ITALY “I was very excited and determined because I tried to get a ticket in February but failed. The contest was another big chance to participate in this magical festival. I studied for many days to combine the right ingredients! I want to find the perfect mix between soft and crunchy, sweet and sour, tradition and innovation.”

CONTEST WINNERS During the months leading up to this weekend, a contest was held to find the most skilled chefs among the People of Tomorrow. The winners, hailing from Brazil and Italy respectively, have been invited to Tomorrowland and their dishes will actually be sold at the festival! Guilherme Profeta, creator of a delicious feijoada croquette with black beans, meat and couve: “It’s a taste of Brazil in Belgium, representing the true embrace that Tomorrowland is really about. It’s about trying new things, and sharing tastes, scents and, most of all, memories.” Italian master chef Alberto Lino Costantini explains his dish, too: “Lino’s lasagne is a typical Italian lasagna with pasta, minced meat, tomatoes and béchamel, but it contains 2 secret ingredients: boiled eggs (from my grandmother Aida’s recipe) and a typical sort peas from Zollino, my village in the province of Lecce.” Be sure to try out these mouthwatering new additions to the Tomorrowland menu some time this weekend!

The funny thing is though, it’s not just about the music here anymore, as it’s truly about the peace, love, unity & respect for each other. The line up & production being insane helps, of course. But the last 12 years has seen, what Armin called it in the movie, a phenomenon take place. Did you see the movie? My mum didn’t, I should buy her the DVD, really. If you don’t know... The clear message and only rule here is LOVE. With that alone, nothing can go wrong. So just quickly, while I am allowed, stop reading, look around you, smile at a stranger and introduce yourself. The resident and founder of the famous Hush Hush parties in Antwerp, Hefner, quickly rose to the top and was named the Diamond City’s official night mayor. As he hosts his very own stage this weekend, Hefner is bringing us a lineup of the hottest names in electronic music right now including Alison Wonderland, marshmello, NGHTMRE vs Slander and more.

The mothership of all K-Events and the ultimate purveyors of pure and proper techno, Kozzmozz, have officially landed at Tomorrowland. Dating back to 1995, Kozzmozz went from throwing the best underground parties to becoming the authority in Belgium for techno and then later several other genres, too. As techno is making a triumphant return, Kozzmozz reclaims its throne with a Tomorrowland lineup that includes Spacid, Len Faki and Jonas Kopp; and that’s not all, for legends Adam Beyer and Nina Kraviz are also included.

Founded as a record label in 2010 by Belgian powerhouse duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Smash the House is home to staples like Ummet Ozcan, Bassjackers and Twoloud. The DV&LM guys have a long, rich Tomorrowland history, from appearing as hosts in 2010 to creating the official anthems again in 2011, 2012 and 2013, to having the most Shazammed track of 2015. As one of the most colourful DJ’s Belgium has to offer, DJ Prinz has been roaming the local scene for over two decades now. Prinz started his DJ career at the infamous Cafe d’Anvèrs club in Antwerp and has been shaking up dance floors all over the world ever since. His expressive style, positive energy and focus on real, soulful and colourful house music quickly caught the ears and hearts of many a clubber. Prinz grew out to be one of Belgium’s finest DJs and - with his very own Push It - most passionate promoters. In the meantime, he Prinz, you’re often called colourful, expressive and eccentric. But how would you describe yourself? “Well, I used to be very colorful in the late ninetiesies. I was wearing eccentric clothes from Belgian designer Walter van Beirendonck and had pink, blue and green hair. That’s not the case anymore nowadays, but as far as my personality goes… Yeah, you can definitely say I’m still pretty eccentric (laughs).” Your real name’s Vincent, but you enter the stage as DJ Prinz. Who is this guy? “This guy has been around for 21 years, mixing in the best clubs and festivals around the globe. He’s always in the top 5 best Belgium DJs and he’s a resident at the legendary Belgian club Café d’Anvèrs. you have from all these years of performing, travelling around the globe and facing all these different people in the audience? “One of the very best moments was in 2010 when I started a collaboration with ID&T. I was asked to host a stage on the camp site of Tomorrowland: DreamVille. The party is now known as The Gathering, where 30.000 people go completely out of their minds right after putting up their tents. It’s mad! I still have this amazing picture in my mind where I see all the people of DreamVille showing their flags, and it just looked just as if the whole world stood right in front of me. Best kick ever!” This year you’re playing The Gathering again. It’s becoming a bit of a tradition, isn’t it? “It’s the 7th year in a row now and again I’m already super excited. I’m in charge of the programming as well, and every year it’s one of our goals to bring all kinds of possible dance genres together in one kick-ass line up that satisfies all of DreamVille’s inhabitants. The challenge is to build up the atmosphere towards a huge, massive climax at the end

of the evening, so you know what to expect the next days of the festival (winks). You can catch me performing on stage at 18:30.” Since you are Belgian, you probably have a rather different connection with the festival, as opposed to most international artists that are performing there. What does Tomorrowland mean to you? “I’m very proud of the founders of Tomorrowland Belgium. I’ve been performing here since the very beginning and I saw it grow and grow and grow year after year. From maybe the smallest dance festival in the world, they became the very best festival in the world in no time. And that’s exactly what it is to me too: the best festival in the world. I simply cannot miss an edition.” How do you see Tomorrowland’s tomorrow? What’s in the festival’s future? “I see Tomorrowland taking it up the road and travelling all over the world. But never forget: the leading and prime edition will always be here, in Belgium.”

A rapid up-and-comer in the world of hard-hitting, big-stage EDM, Jay Hardway is bursting with energy and ready to conquer the world, beginning with Tomorrowland. Here’s what gets him going, and what keeps him inspired. Playing at Tomorrowland is, without a doubt, set to be one of the most memorable moments in your career so far. Could you put your personal expectations into words? What are you hoping for? “This is actually my second time playing at Tomorrowland! I played at the 10 year anniversary as well, which was amazing! Tomorrowland is the most special festival for me personally, because people are coming together from all over the world. It’s so amazing to see so many countries represented. What I also love is that they are very up to date music-wise, so I can’t wait to see all those people singing along to the tracks.” You’re part of a newer generation of Tomorrowland artists. The festival has been steadily successful for years now. What do you feel makes it so appealing to both artists and audiences? “I think Tomorrowland is about the overall experience. There is no competition between artists and it feels like one big family, on stage, backstage and in the crowd. This makes the atmosphere really unique and makes it very fun to visit the festival, even when I’m not playing. So I’ll be coming very early on the day of my set.” You’ve collaborated with fellow artists like Martin Garrix and Mike Hawkins. Which artists have inspired you to pursue your dreams in the music scene? “I have so many artists who inspire me! I think in the ‘EDM’ world my big inspirations are Tiësto, Laidback Luke, Axwell /\ Ingrosso and more. They’ve been in the scene for a long time now and they still know how to stay relevant. Their shows still inspire me every day. I also

get inspired by other music styles. This can be any style. Bands like Coldplay and artists like Justice really inspire me as well.” We’ve all witnessed the huge success of ‘Error 404’, ‘Wizard’, and ‘Electric Elephants’. What is next for Jay Hardway? What will this upcoming fall bring for you? “NEW music! In every way of the word, new. I’m always shifting my sound because I want to bring a fresh and new sound with every track! So there are a bunch of different tracks coming up, but you can still hear it’s Jay Hardway. Most importantly, I make the music I like.” Not only have you been a successful DJ for quite some time now, but you’re a producer too. Could you share some of the characteristics of your creation process? What is ‘typically’ Jay Hardway? “It’s typical for me to start with a good melody. Melodies and chords are everything to me, so I start with that. After that I try to find cool and unique sounds, and I just experiment until I find cool sounds and effects that I can use. I always work very open-mindedly in the studio and I never try to re-create sounds or tracks.” It’s needless to emphasize how fast-paced your current schedule must be. What are the most rewarding elements of your career though? What gives you the energy that keeps you going? “Seeing fans at shows is an incredible feeling. Seeing how happy I can make them with relatively little effort is what keeps me going! Also the online response to my

music is amazing. When I release new music I’m always quite insecure about it, because it truly is a product of me. So when people love it, it makes me feel very good!” That being said... How does Jay refuel when he’s enjoying some scarce time off? “That is something I still need to learn, haha! I like to sleep and watch movies, but when I’m home there is always stuff to do or new music to make. Sometimes I keep going and I think I could use some more rest. But that’s hard, because making music and touring is so much fun!” Where do you see yourself as an artist in this scene in, let’s say, five years? What will you have accomplished and how will the overall business have changed? “The quality of the music becomes more important. It’s not only about creating bangers or following trends. Producers like myself need to come up with original stuff all the time. The crowd and fans are more educated and they will need more depth in the music. Better melodies, better chord progressions, better vocals etc. I want to be doing what I’m doing right now: focusing on music I love and music of a good quality. I hope to see a lot of new parts of the world and return to places I’ve been before!” What is your personal ‘Elixir of Life’ and why? “Coffee is amazing! I always start my day with coffee and this is what gets me started in the morning.”

In preparation for that, Felix has been awarded his own stage at Tomorrowland. Prior to the madness, he told us how he felt about it all.

Having scored a number one hit around the globe a whole new world must’ve opened up for you. What’s the craziest thing you’ve experienced lately? “The craziest thing would be all the things I’ve gained access to! I’m headlining festivals, I’m hosting my own stage at Tomorrowland, I get to do opening shows for big DJs. Those are all crazy things that I never expected to do !” What do you see as your moment of breakthrough? Was it your first single? “Yes, ‘Are You With Me’ was my breakthrough, and ‘Reality’ was the confirmation. Now Lost Frequencies has become a solid brand that people trust thanks to that. My new single ‘Beautiful Life’ is doing great also, and I’m really looking forward to release my album in September.” How would you describe your sound to people that don’t know much about dance music? “I would describe it as chill, but clubby, feel-good and memory-creating! Haha, a lot of people have feelings and memories attached to those songs, and I think that is fantastic.” Incorporating proper songs and lots of guitars, tracks like ‘Reality’ seem to owe as much to singersongwriters and pop as they do to house music. Is

it fair to say that you have mixed influences? “Sure! I love to mix and blend stuff together, that way you actually end up with sounds that a lot of people enjoy, young and old. And that is also something I’m really happy about!” Are the instruments you use in your track samples or do you play them yourself? “Sometimes it’s sampling, and sometimes those are real sounds. I really like both, because they have a totally different approach of working with them.” Your indie sound perfectly fits with a chillout vibe, but if you were to produce another genre, what would you make? “I think I would love to produce tracks that are hip-hop vibey, instrumental, but still with electronic sounds. I’m actually working on a kind of EP for another project, something that doesn’t sound at all like the Lost Frequencies sound. It keeps my mind fresh!” You’re a producer who has accomplished a lot in a really short time period. How did you cope with these vast changes to your everyday life? “I’ve achieved things, but I didn’t let those things change my private life. I’m still living with my parents, I’m still producing on my computer, and still seeing my friends in the bars I used to go. It’s something really important to try to stay the same person when I’m living my ‘private’ life.”

You’ve worked together with several different artists by now. Do you have someone in mind that you would really like to work with sometime? “There aren’t many people I would like to work with, but there are people I would love to talk to about production. And maybe sit in the studio and see how they are creating their sounds, with guys like Flume, Avicii or Skrillex.” These last couple of years you’ve travelled around the world. Is Tomorrowland still a whole different ball game in comparison to other places and festivals in the world? “Tomorrowland sells out all of its tickets without announcing a line-up in less than an hour. This is just crazy, when you think about it! I was at Tomorrowland last year and didn’t get the chance to hang around. My schedule back then was already pretty busy, but I’m really looking forward to it this time, and I’m so thankful to Tomorrowland’s organization for giving me a stage. This is really a big step and a nice achievement.” What does the rest of the year have in store for you? “I have an album coming up in September, and I will try to see how we can bring it as a live show. So there’s a lot of work ahead, but it’s really exciting!”

We would like to introduce you to Stephen Fasano from Brussels, better known as The Magician. Perhaps it’s easiest to let the biography that he uses to introduce himself on social media speak for itself: “One night not so long ago, he appeared from a place between space and time. Apparently, he stepped into this world, materialising in a cloud of crystal stars and soft pink smoke. Some claim he’s a former airline pilot who crashed an after party – some say it’s all just an illusion, a well-performed hoax.” It’s an interesting description, to say the least; time to get together and ask him what it’s all about. You have an intriguing biography online! For the people that don’t know your story; can you tell us a little more about The Magician? “I’ve been DJ’ing in Belgium for a long time now, as resident DJ in many clubs, and I performed at most of the Belgian festivals under my name DJ Stephen. Then, in 2007, we created a project with Vito Deluca called Aeroplane. That caused a big buzz all around the world. In 2010 I left the project to create a solo project, a project my wife called The Magician. Because she thinks I have magical powers.” You are joining Martin Solveig on the My House stage this year’s Tomorrowland, how do you feel about this? “I’m very happy to be joining Martin. I feel good with him; we share a lot of music together and we are on the same page as most of the artists on this stage. Musically, the My House stage is one of the best at Tomorrowland this year.” For you playing at Tomorrowland must be a little extra special, since you’re from Belgium yourself,

right? How does it feel to have this major event in your home country? “Actually, as I experienced 2 years ago, I don’t have the impression that I’m playing in Belgium here. There are people from all around the world. The vibe is special, and I love it. It’s great to have this event in Belgium, our country used to be the best in the world in terms of clubbing in the ‘90s and now we have one of the biggest festivals in the world. Tomorrowland wanted to be different from all other festivals. They had the idea to bring a new experience to festivalgoers -creating awesome decoration and entertainment on the festival site. Belgium is at the centre of Europe and at the crossroads of many different cultures. Belgians have a very imaginative mind - many creations on this planet come from us. Unfortunately, most of the people don’t know this because ideas have been stolen… A good example is ‘French’ fries! (laughs)” Back to My House, what does the concept stand for in your opinion? “The concept is very simple: Martin Solveig invites his DJ friends to play in his House which is based in Pacha Ibiza all summer. All DJs that are invited play house

music with different influences: disco, funk, deep, electro, future, garage. This always brings something fresh to your ears. Personally, I feel like I’m in my own house when I play there!” Why is Ibiza the right place for My House? “Ibiza was the right place to start the My House concept because lots of people come to Ibiza from all around the world to party, but Ibiza also needed something fresh. My House is every Wednesday, so you can’t miss it if you’re on the island.” We are in the middle of the festival season, usually an inspiring time of the year. Do you have any exciting ideas coming up in the near future? “When I’m not on tour, I’m in the studio making new music that will be unveiled in fall/winter. I also run a label called POTION. We’ve had eleven releases so far, and I’m setting up many more upcoming releases now. I don’t want to say too much about my other ideas, as they could be stolen, too!”
