TOMORROWL AND TODAY
B E LG I U M
THE STORY OF PLANAXIS No one knows exactly how, why, or when Planaxis was built. The identity of its Architect is long lost to history, its first inhabitants are no longer with us. One thing was preserved for all these years, however, and has surfaced with the call for the People of Tomorrow to unite: a diary, waterlogged and old, but supposedly belonging to none other than the visionary mind behind Planaxis. This is the second entry.
Who would have thought? What they say is true after all. The Golden Ratio – it’s perfect. I set out to build my underwater houses like a seashell – sturdy, elegant, impenetrable. But then I found that the shells themselves are shaped by the numerical harmony we call the Golden Ratio. In honour of the creature which best embodies the ensuing spiral shape, I decided to name the colony ‘Planaxis’.
am working on the selection of materials; I believe I am close to finding a suitable way to construct the enormous dome that is to cover the community’s gardens, which will allow us to be truly self-sufficient.
The moment of inhabitation is at hand, then. Finally, we will have our place beneath the waves, our base from which to protect the surrounding reef, the point whence we shall relay to all the peoples of the world our Inspiration for Planaxis’ greatest structure, message – its central gathering place, came from another elegant animal. In due time, it will show The oceans are our greatest wonder, and we itself. For now, with the basics complete, I must never squander them.

TOMORROWL AND TODAY
The tide is high… i n t h e s ky !
The People of Tomorrow come from all over the world. 32,000 of them will travelled to Tomorrowland via Global Journey – an adventurous travel package that can include transport and accommodation, as well as exclusive events and secret parties. 11,000 travelers are brought to the festival site by Brussels Airlines, some of whom will check in to a once-in-a-lifetime experience: the Partyflight to Tomorrowland. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
TH E P I LOT “It's formidable to be able to do something like this. Formidable,” explains Amare pilot Peter Treier once we touch down in Brussels. Peter's skills got the crowd from party island Ibiza all the way back to Belgium safely, so that all of them can immerse themselves into the world of Planaxis. “It's a beautiful thing to accommodate all these different nationalities, and that we can be the number one flight carrier to deliver all these people to the party capital of the world. I'm very proud of that. It's an incredible event – a first time for me, and the most amazing thing I've done in my 13 years of flying for Brussels Airlines.”
For Partyflight travelers, the celebration of Tomorrow starts at the airport gate, where a DJ is spinning, the drinks are cold and the vibe is very much alive. A friendly breakdance battle, waves of cheering, dancing besides as well as on top of furniture: it’s all part of the proceedings at Ibiza airport, where one of the Partyflights is about to take off. Crowds of all ages, shapes and sizes dance, sing and befriend each other. Four guys in white shirts hand out sharpie markers and let fellow party people write on their clothes. “Sometimes they're Instagram account names. Sometimes they are just scribbles. We don't care. It's all about connecting people,” explains festival adventurer Sergio. “I'm here with my friends from Bilbao to celebrate life. Tomorrow is a gift!”

"It's the most amazing thing I've done in my 13 years of flying.”
Every time more people arrive at the gate, the crowd bursts into screams and whistles. It is no secret that the People of Tomorrow are friends who just haven't met yet. Groups of people fall into each other's arms at the sight of Amare, the beautiful, one-of-a-kind Brussels Airlines vessel that will soon carry them to their destination. “I can't believe it!” screams one. “This is so awesome…” gasps another.

Once airborne, world-renowned pastry chef Roger van Damme gets ready to serve his special Tomorrowland creations to the hungry. His take on the Belgian waffle, topped with vanilla cream as well as a chocolate imprint of Tomorrowland's own logo, is a welcome treat to take a short break from revelry.
A trip to Tomorrowland might leave you hungry for beats, but it won't leave you starving. So, travelers of Tomorrow who've got a sweet tooth, we have a treat for you: this year Tomorrowland debuts its Sweet Tooth tent, where award-winning pâtissier Roger van Damme will present some of his finest treats. In honour of this addition to the gastronomic experience the world of Planaxis has to offer, a sweet sample of his work was offered to lucky Partyflight passengers coming from Ibiza to Belgium. The Belgian Waffle, a staple of Belgian patisserie, got transformed into a beautiful, sweet and versatile treat. Strawberries, raspberry coulis and chocolate are just a few ingredients this gorgeous dish had to offer. It's no secret Roger van Damme has a sweet tooth of his own – it's up to you to find out what that tastes like.

Remaining seated is next to impossible for the passionate, beautiful crowd on board.
2018
THE JOURNEY
All the while DJ Lady S blasts her fine beats. The airplane windows are shut tight as a soft, gold and purple glow lights Amare’s interior. Glowsticks are lit and flashes of light emerge from the DJ booth. We have lift-off in all senses of the word: the plane goes wild. Remaining seated is next to impossible for the passionate, beautiful crowd on board. Brussels Airlines came prepared and brought extra crew to ensure the safety of our people – even when that means showing impatient dancers their places. But turbulence does not break their spirit: singing, whistling and banter continue as travelers decorate the plane with flags of their countries of origin. Once in a while, whether spontaneously or just on their way to the bathroom, dancing emerges again, unable to resist the DJ's grooves. The Partyflight on Amare takes about two hours. It is an unforgettable trip and for many, it is the last leg of their Global Journey. Some of the People of Tomorrow traveled to no less than three different European cities in preparation for their homecoming at Tomorrowland – some of them for the second, third or fourth time. Touching down, it is time to prepare for their arrival at Planaxis, where their adventure continues. The People of Tomorrow are ready and eager to go home to their Holy Grounds.
The story of the People of Tomorrow is full of love and wonder. Kwabena and his friend Jeremy are an extraordinary example. Having originally planned his Global Journey with his girlfriend, Kwabena was excited for his trip of a lifetime. A few weeks after they booked their package, they broke up, but still thought about embarking on this adventure together. However, bad luck came in threes: Kwabena's girlfriend had an accident shortly before it was time to leave and could no longer join him to Europe from the United States. He then decided to bring his good friend Jeremy, who has teamed up with him to take on Europe. “Tomorrowland is special to me. It will be Jeremy's first festival – it's my third time though. The People of Tomorrow make this the trip of a lifetime. This experience has showed me that it is not about where you started, or where you will end up, but about the journey along the way.”

'Amare' stands for unity, love and friendship. Brussels Airlines has been bringing the People of Tomorrow together since 2012. There are 240 Tomorrowland flights from 83 different airports and 24 exclusive gate parties!

Time for a hair party! Of course, you had your festival outfit ready months ago. But what about your hairdo? Still looking for that effortless ‘I woke-up-this-fabulous’ look? Wella’s Braided Buns are your way to go! Step one: Use a wide-barreled curling iron to create a soft wave and texture. Step two: Part your hair at the top of your head and take two small, upper sections on either side. Step three: Make a braid on each side, using new strings of hair with every section you braid. Secure each braid at the back of your head with a micro band. Step four: Take both end sections of the braids and turn and twist them into a tousled bun, securing it at the back of your head. Make your bun as thick or thin as you want. Step five: Use the tips of your fingers to give your bun a messier texture. Make sure to bring or borrow an extra mirror to check out the fabulous result from behind. Disappointed about the reflection? Numbed every finger and both of your arms, but still created something that wasn’t worth the work at all? Wella’s got you covered! Come and consult the hair experts at Wella’s shop on the Marketplace at DreamVille to get those insider’s tips and tricks, as well as the products you need to create the hairdo of your Tomorrowland dreams!
LOOKING FABULOUS Surrounded by hypnotic mirrors, millions of colours and beautiful faces, one of M.A.C.’s best artists, Connie Man, is working her magic. Especially for Tomorrowland, she has created three festival-proof looks. While applying one of her masterpieces, she elaborates on how this look came to life and what inspired her to design it. “Glitters are hot right now, so I wanted to create something that could be seen from miles away.” Connie didn’t just use ordinary glitters; if you take a closer look, you will see that they’re shaped like stars. “You can make it stand out as much as you like. This look is easily translated to everyday life if you take it easy on the glitters. The freedom of festival make-up is what makes it fun. It doesn’t have to be perfectly symmetrical. Just play with it!” Connie has some make-up tips to share, too. “Most people look at how they can hide things, rather than focussing on what they can accentuate. Make-up is an accessory – use it as such!” Would you like to accessorize your outfit with one of the custom-made M.A.C. looks? You can find their salon at the Marketplace.
Friendship refreshes the soul The People of Tomorrow are all about unity. This freshly formed group of friends surely shares a will to become as one. And what says ‘unity’ more than a magical bracelet? Tomorrowland has designed a number of exclusive friendship bracelets together with Belgian jewelry brand Atelier Clash, and they are sold solely on Tomorrowland. Every bracelet colour has its own gemstone, which makes it easy to send a personal message to someone special. Curious to see how the magic happens? Let’s just say it can be best explained as ‘strangers on Thursday become family on Sunday’.
FLAGS FOR A BETTER FUTURE You must have noticed them already: the official Tomorrowland flags flying high all about the festival. Buy one at one of the TML by Tomorrowland boutiques, and all proceeds are donated to the Love Tomorrow Foundation. They use the money for charitable projects such as their Music & Arts School in Nepal.
CHEFS OF THE DAY
In honour of the world’s favorite guilty pleasure, Tastes of the World does not skimp on festival pizza facilities. We all know how draining three days of celebrating can be, so here’s a quick reminder that it is perfectly okay to treat yourself to this originally Italian snack every now and then. Levy, Kylian and Felix from Wood Pizza Grill couldn’t agree more. “It might be a bit cheesy,” they say, “but Tomorrowland melts our hearts.” Head on over to the Farmhouse at DreamVille for a taste, or see page 20 for more food options! 7

LET YOUR DREAMS SET SAIL AT
DREAMVILLE You’ve set sail, crossed oceans and expanded your horizons getting here. Now, safely arrived at DreamVille, you have finally reached your new home. New friendships are formed as you make camp and smiles are everywhere to be seen. Even though people are busy setting up their tents and carrying heavy bags filled with riches, not a single gloomy face is among them. Here, at the doorsteps of our fabled underwater realm, everyone has a story to tell: of whence they came, of treacherous seas and perilous journeys, and mostly, of looking forward to the weekend to come. Through which countries did their compass lead the People of Tomorrow, and how many of the seven seas did they cross? Let’s find out…
Antonio (25) and Nathalie (28) from Chile can’t wait to enter their what they call “our favourite place on Earth.” Nathalie went to both weekends of Tomorrowland last year. “This year, I’ll have to enjoy the first weekend to the fullest, because we’ll be sailing back home on Monday.”
9
Good company makes the way seem shorter. Sebastian (21) from Poland: “We travelled with four guys in one small car. I’m glad we’ve managed to set up our tent. We can finally enjoy a game of beer pong now!”

Ben (20) from San Diego quit his job and went on a trip through Europe with his friends Brad (25) & Kaiden (24). “The journey to Planaxis has been crazy so far. We were in Paris when France won the World Cup and jumped into the river Seine. That was one hell of a pre-party!”
Yuho (27) and Miyu (22) from Japan prove that it’s true: mermaids are real! “During our journey so far, we’ve crossed a lot of seas and made a lot of friends from all around the world. That’s what we love so much about Tomorrowland.”
2018
“All of my favourite DJs are Dutch.” Naturally Claudia (29) from Colombia had to set sail to the enchanting festival grounds of Tomorrowland. “What I’m looking forward to the most? Seeing Afrojack and Hardwell!”
“We didn’t sleep at all on the way here.” David (28) and Stephen (23) from Ireland sure were excited to make it to Planaxis, but their voyage has been exhausting. You know what they say, guys: a smooth sea never made a skilled sailor.
WALK THE PLANK Rise and Shine! The ultimate way to wake up and let those sunrays kick in is by doing a little excercise, or as the DreamVille Gym instructors like to call it: the Rise & Shine Plank. Start by sitting down on the ground with your legs straight in front of you. Then, lay back onto your elbows before extending your arms and pushing yourself up with your hands. Push your hips and butt off the ground and hold that position, resting on your hands and heels and keeping your body straight. It’s a great exercise to streng-then your core as well as your glutes, so you’ll be ready for another day of dazzling that cute neighbour. And if you’re still feeling like an extra workout, the DreamVille Gym – completely supplied by Matrix – has a lot more in store for you!

On her birthday, back in Ireland, Amy (20) heard that she was going to visit Tomorrowland for the first time. “It has been amazing so far. It is so beautiful, I can’t wait to see what tomorrow will have in store for us.”

After an adventurous voyage this group of German friends finally made it to the lush green fields of DreamVille. At 05:00 in the morning, their taxi driver dropped them off at the wrong entrance. Alisa (24): “I’m glad we made it. Sometimes you just have to go with the flow.”
Larissa (22) would love to take her family from England to visit more festivals with her. “They would only have to cross one of the seven seas!”
Victor (32) from Brazil has visited Tomorrowland with his friends in Brazil, in the States and in Belgium. He is determined to get tickets for the Winter edition next year. “My birthday is on the 12th of March, so to be able to witness that first edition would be the best gift ever!”
“Our girlfriends won tickets for Tomorrowland via a Dutch radio station,” Niels says. “Naturally, we couldn’t miss out on the party, so we went on a crazy quest to get a hold of tickets!”
11
The best part of this Danish group’s voyage to Planaxis didn’t happen while sailing the seven seas. It happened on the bus from Brussels to Boom. “With one small subwoofer we created an outrageous party. The bus driver kept telling us to sit down, but the music was just too good.”

LOVE TOMORROW treasure mother nature Today, Love Tomorrow dives into the Story of Planaxis together with the People of Tomorrow. Love and passion for each other and for all of Mother Nature’s treasures are key in this new, underwater realm. Love Tomorrow provides the People of Tomorrow with the necessary facilities to sort waste correctly and is a way for everyone to work towards Planaxis’ greatest ideal: a better Tomorrow. Before going through the festival gates, make sure to check out the cool things that are happening at DreamVille. Get inspired by the Recycle Clubhouse with their massive 3D printer!
S O RT T H I N G S R I G H T W I T H T H E C A LY X Today, Love Tomorrow reveals a beautiful creation at the festival site: the Calyx. These are made specifically for the People of Tomorrow, to help them respect Mother Nature’s treasures. The bins are made for sorting your waste in a fun and easy way. After you’ve finished your food and drinks, the food packaging, cutlery, bottles, cups and cans get recycled if you sort them right. The green Compost bins are for food waste and all food ware. The red bins are for all plastic drink cups. These cups are 100% recyclable and will be used as 3D-printing material at the Recycle Clubhouse.
R EC YC L E C LU B H O U S E The Recycle Clubhouse is located in the vibrant city of DreamVille, next to the Marketplace. It is a place for the People of Tomorrow to come together to share experiences, unite, connect, and learn from each other. And there is more: inside the Clubhouse, a massive 3D printer makes furniture (!) out of plastic bottles and cups. Come and have a look at this unbelievable creature… To become a member of the Recycle Clubhouse, you can recycle your PMD waste and Tomorrowland cups. In return for a full bag of PMD or 50 centimeters (about 20 inches) of Tomorrowland cups, you will be gifted with a 3D-printed icon of the Recycle Club to wear as a bracelet. By handing in more PMD or cups, you can collect a full bracelet with all the sorting symbols of the Recycle Club. Once you have collected them all, you become a prime member, and you get a small metal Tomorrowland icon!
C I RC U L A R C A M P I N G : C A M P 2 C A M P Are you familiar with the game-changing idea behind CAMP2CAMP? The project is not only about collecting camping gear that is left behind. It also changes the way camping is organized at DreamVille. For the first time ever, the People of Tomorrow got the chance to rent CAMP2CAMP packages with all camping gear included. The packages were sold out very quickly: a sign that DreamVille guests understand the major benefits CAMP2CAMP has. Carrying heavy luggage all the way to Tomorrowland is no longer necessary, the packages are inexpensive, and the environmental benefits are huge. By re-using collected and cleaned camping gear from last year, you are making a positive impact on the environment. When the gear gets returned to the rental desk after the festival it will be cleaned and prepared for re-use again, so the cycle can be repeated. 13

The gorgeous, brand new stage, the overwhelming presence of an army of top-notch Belgian DJs… And, of course, the first sight of an incredible crowd of smiling party people, some carrying their national flags to tell you how many rivers, seas and oceans they’d crossed to finally reach Planaxis. Br azilian FUNK “We’ll show you how to move the Brazilian way!” With pure devotion, Victor and his friends start to dance. Victor: “Funk is relatively new and even better than Samba. Mostly, young people practice it while clubbing or while at the beach. It is probably the best thing in music ever created in Brazil.”
THE Walter Swetlana and Julia immediately start dancing when asked for a typical German dance. They fly into each other’s arms and know exactly which steps to take. But to the ensuing question, at what occasions the Walter is practised, Swetlana replies: “Oh, we never really do this dance at all...”
Mar abenta “This is a cultural dance we do when we have something to celebrate!” These girls travelled to Tomorrowland all the way from Mozambique and sure have some moves to show for it. Nhyelete: “We dance the Marabenta during family gatherings in times of celebration.”

TOMORROWL AND TODAY
AROUND THE WORLD IN 6 DISHES Going to Tomorrowland, whether you’re travelling across the world or down the street, is always a bit of an endeavour. There’s the actual travelling, the hauling stuff around DreamVille, the trotting about the festival grounds and more importantly: the journey around the Tastes of the World. We took some of the People of Tomorrow on a trip way out of their habitat, away from the flavours of their home, all out into the great wide open cuisine of DreamVille.
Kebab Oliver (Denmark ) “So we came all the way from Denmark just to eat chicken kebab (laughs). But to be honest: we’ll eat pretty much anything at this point. On the other hand… This is the best chicken kebab I’ve ever eaten, by far. It’s also the very first chicken kebab I’ve ever eaten, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything. I had the paella earlier and it was a truly solid meal, but the meat in this one is just out of this world. The salad... The salad is pretty standard, but then again salad is always more of a side dish, isn’t it? Ultimately, this just proves again that you don’t have to go all the way to Turkey to eat a good kebab. It’s actually the perfect food for festivals: tasty, crunchy and it fits right in your hand. Maybe some other sauce with it would be nice, like aioli or something. Aioli is nice, man.”
Paella Aingar an (Canada/Sri Lank a) “You know, a couple of months ago we were thinking: what would be the very best place in the world to go and eat paella? Well, Spain was our first choice, but without any doubt, Tomorrowland was a close second! Everything tastes better here, right? I wouldn’t call myself a paella expert, but nevertheless I am a bit of a self-proclaimed foodie. I chose the paella over Belgian fries and Asian food because I’m a huge fan of seafood – I mean: who isn’t, right? – and this girl I met earlier today, she told me that the paella was by far the best thing she’d eaten all day long. She’s Hispanic, so she knows her stuff. Thanks to her blessings, this stuff is my dinner this evening. I believe it’s all fresh and full of vitamins, but either way, I’m not at Tomorrowland for my health, so I might as well just give it a go!”

Noodles Monica (Houston, USA) “I chose the noodles because I truly love Asian food. Noodles and chicken, can’t go wrong with those, right? That’s a killer combination. I might say I’m a bit of an expert when it comes to Asian food. I love Thai food, Japanese sushi, Korean, and let’s not forget Vietnamese spring rolls, they’re the best! I’d say this particular dish is a fusion of sorts. It’s a mix between a kind of more global Asian cuisine, with European sauce and spirit strewn all over it. I’m from Houston, in the United States, and if there’s one city in the world that is the birthplace of all things fusion, it’s definitely Houston. One might say that New York is pretty good in the same league as well, but that’s just because people don’t know about Houston. Everything’s fusion in Houston. Even fusion is fusion. Haha!”
Fries Annik a (Ulm, Germany) “This is actually the very first time I’ve tried Belgian fries and I must say I do enjoy them. This might become a thing, they should promote this more (laughs)! When we eat fries we always eat mayonnaise with them, but it does seem as though this Belgian mayonnaise has a bit of a different taste to it. It’s either that, or food just tastes better when you’re at Tomorrowland. Earlier today, I learned that fries didn’t come from France but from Belgium. People should know about that! We should tell everybody that France has lied about this the whole time. Let me take a quick taste to confirm. Yes, oh my God yes. These are by far the best fries, no, Belgian fries I have ever eaten. I’m not going to eat fries all weekend though, that would be too hardcore, even for us.”
Hamburger Darren (Liverpool , UK ) “We’re from Liverpool, we’re scousers for sure! I’m like a UFC fighter from Liverpool, or that’s how I feel, anyway – all pumped. This hamburger right here is pretty much OK, but there’s a bit too much bacon inside. Bacon is not good for you, man, or too much bacon isn’t, anyway. They say bacon helps build your muscles, but that’s one big fat lie, I’ll tell you. Do you know the TV show Chopped? They had a series with sports stars and that’s how I learned how to treat my body. Before a match, or for a dancing match like Tomorrowland, you should actually never eat eggs or meat in order to prepare your body. But that’s a diet I forgot about pretty fast when I arrived here. I’m here for a vacation, so I don’t care if it’s unhealthy. I’m not going to start to count calories, am I?”

Capture the Moment You’ll probably be taking a selfie or two this weekend – but what about one that captures most of the Holy Grounds along with yourself? In front of the Freedom Stage, by Budweiser, you will find a stand where you can capture your journey for Planaxis in a panoramic selfie. As you stand on the podium, the camera will zoom out far and wide, catching the beauty of the stage, the surrounding scenery, and the happiness on your face. You’ll be emailed the photo after the festival, so that you’re able to keep this memory and share it with your friends. Upload it with #BUDxTOMORROWLAND to join up with your fellow selfie seekers online!
We a r what sets your so ul on fi re You could call it a constant struggle; looking your absolute best on the best weekend of the year. Since everybody is done with the big festival outfit clichés, this common struggle is getting even bigger. What you wear tells a story, it says who you are and expresses your vibe. Forgot to bring your favourite outfit? Keep calm! TML by Tomorrowland is here to help with the pursuit of the clothing and jewelry of your dreams. TML by Tomorrowland Official Boutiques are located at the main info point by the day entrance, behind the Mainstage, at the DreamVille entrance to the festival grounds, and on the Marketplace at DreamVille. The new TML by Tomorrowland Collection isn’t just merchandise for die-hards; it’s an entire high-end fashion collection launched to help you look your best. Inspired by icons, travel vibes and downright fashion essentials, the new collection is certainly approved for your TML days and times beyond.
Atmosphere is everything 2018 marks the year of the birth of a brand new stage: Atmosphere. Next to the food court behind the Mainstage, its enormous stained glass windows rise up over a brightly lit interior. It’s something you will never have experienced before, since Atmosphere’s setup is unique in many ways. For instance, did you know that… • Unlike most festival tents you see around Europe, Atmosphere’s roof is not supported by poles or a framed construction. Majestic as this stage is, it has its own, tailor-made construction, suspended from something akin to a majestic crane. • The top of the tent is 32 meters high. Imagine six fully grown giraffes standing on top of each other to get a better feel of how high that is. • The video net that covers its inside is 2 kilometers long and contains 120,000 LED lights, creating an immersive, 360° audiovisual experience. • The printed canvas roof is about 4500 square meters, which is the equivalent of four Olympic swimming pools.

TR E AT YO UR BO DY R I GHT Strolling around the campsite or the festival area multiple days in a row will have your belly rumbling. To make sure you won’t be sorry for what you said when you were hungry, try not to get hungry at all! Easy? Sort of. It’s perfectly understandable that you prioritize making new friends, flirting with that cute barista and taking selfies over eating well. So here’s the solution: Carréfour is breaking ground at Tomorrowland, providing a pop-up supermarket at the Marketplace in Dreamville. This is the place where you will find a wide range of fruit & vegetables, healthy salads, tapas, and a variety of dips. Everything can be found pre-cut, so you won’t lose any of your precious time. The main purpose? “Making sure every visitor has access to healthy foods throughout the festival,” Bart Peelmans, Carréfour’s Director Merchant Services, says. “We are also introducing our latest project on Dreamville, called Shipto.” Shipto is an online marketplace, hosted by Carréfour, where orders are delivered to your tent within 30 minutes after ordering. And if you’re in need of an extensive vitamin boost, but too tired to choose, Easy Packs are available for every moment of the day, offering a variety of boxed goods from Breakfast to Detox.

What’s a festival without a cold one every now and then? In order to supply Tomorrowland with enough drinks to last the weekend, Jupiler brings its very own Brewery to the Holy Grounds. Located next to the main info point by the day entrance, the Brewery can boast a line-up to rival the Mainstage, a prime location looking out over the water and the back of the Rose Garden’s guardian dragon, a small-scale and cosy dancefloor, and unique, limited-edition aluminium bottles of Jupiler. Adorned on the outside with the ingredients of Belgium’s favourite beverage, it looks the part, too. Drop by today for a treat of beats by Afrojack, Double Pleasure, Sem Thomasson or Yves V in a uniquely intimate setting. The art of mixing music and the art of mixing ingredients into beer go well together!
STARTING OUT STRONG Those who ever thought that the best way to start your day would be with a breakfast of champions were wrong. We believe that the best way to start any day would be at the Alpro Breakfast Bar. Close your eyes. Imagine sumptuous raspberries on a bed of Alpro soybased yoghurt alternative topped with crunchy coconut flakes, granola, and a touch of mint. Or how about this: a creamy pineapple, coconut, and a banana smoothie to replenish your vitamins and energy levels… Sounds perfect for a morning in paradise, right? You will find Alpro's Breakfast Bar at the Farmhouse, and its bowls and smoothies aren't the only things worth the walk. Try to learn the route by heart, so that when you wake up tomorrow with your eyes still closed, you’ll be able to walk blindly to your first shot of coffee of the day. Once you’ve made it, don’t forget to try Alpro's newest ice cream, and you’re sure to start your day off dancing before the music has even begun. With flavours like Vanilla, Hazelnut-Chocolate, and Coco, and coming in 500 mL tubs, this is a food performance you shouldn't miss out on. It’s guaranteed to make your friends envious you once you tell them with gusto about everything they’ve missed.

One of Tomorrow’s classics is the place where the two great loves of festivalgoers come together: food and music, beats and eats. B-EAT by Las Vegas is located close to the Mainstage. In this unique party concept, a DJ and a chef work together in order to develop an hour-long culinary & musical show. This year, Las Vegas chefs will share the kitchen with Belgian and Dutch chefs. A B-EAT cocktail was developed especially for this concept, with the intention of getting everybody into the right vibe immediately. Sounds interesting? Tickets are being sold at the door!

You thought hardcore music to be a dark and grim affair? No longer! Pussy Lounge is as much about silly performances as it is about the most fun DJ sets celebrating the wide range of sounds of the harder, bouncier styles. You’ll perhaps enter the Pussy Lounge apprehensively, but you’ll come out a happier and more zen person – who would’ve thought? Oh, and despite the name, both female and male ravers are welcome at the Pussy Lounge; it’s a unisex party! This year’s line-up is as brilliant as always and includes the likes of Paul Elstak, The Prophet, Mad Dog, The Darkraver and Technoboy… Oh boy!
It is time for ‘Belgium represent’ at the very warm and soulful House of Masks. WPH stands for We Play House and, trust us, that’s no lie! When label head honcho Red D enters the booth, you are sure to see a keen dancer behind the decks, which ill probably be enough to make you boogie too. WPH veteran San Soda is also a top-notch house music entertainer, while Charleroi’s Fabrice Lig closes out the area, and you can perhaps expect some winks to the original techno sound of Detroit from him. All sets are at least two hours, so house heads, come on down and treat yourself to some serious groove-building!
In the beginning there was Jack! It’s that very famous quote from back in the day, when house music had just gotten started. Luckily for us, the twenty-first century saw the arrival of Afrojack and now we have Jacked! Jacked stands for everything Afrojack loves: an eclectic and energetic electronic sound with roots in bass music, EDM and urban. Afrojack himself is set to rock the stage, of course, besides his young and talented protégé Ravitez, Ummet Ozcan, Bassjackers, and the incredible wizard going by the name Laidback Luke. If you want to jack your body, this surely is the place to be.

MUSICAL
ESSENTIALS
Surinam-born superstar DJ and remixer Chuckie grew up with all kinds of music. When he started gaining traction playing at parties, he simply wanted to play the tunes he was really feeling, from funky to fast to mellow and groovy. But scenes were strictly divided at the time; you’d either play just hardstyle, or exclusively house music, or hip-hop and nothing but hip-hop. Chuckie kept his eyes and ears open, though, and came to the conclusion that in the end, it really was possible to be free behind the decks, pleasing the crowd in whichever way he felt suitable. After a career spanning 25 years – a true journey through the musical universe – it’s safe to safe he has some idea of what makes a great track. In anticipation of his set at the Organ of Harmony, tonight at 19:00, he shares the tracks he holds dearest – and the reasons why they are so great.

PHIL COLLINS EASY LOVER
“I’ve always been absolutely crazy about sampling. So many tracks show total excellence in sampling. MC Hammer has been despised by many, but he really sampled Rick James so well in ‘U Can’t Touch This’. ‘The Bomb’ by The Bucketheads is also an amazing example. The great achievement in this banger by The Prodigy is that it’s sampled in such a way that you just can’t find out where it all came from. There’s a tutorial on YouTube about how they put this record together, it’s incredible.”
“This is the ultimate feelgood hip-hop record for me, and it came out as long ago as 2003. I play it in every set – even today – as it brings about a certain emotion in the crowd. The funkiness of the track when I first heard it in my car just overwhelmed me. I’m a big fan of tracks by the Neptunes – Pharell Williams and Chad Hugo – in general, they’re all so minimal and spot on!”
“I have plenty of guilty pleasures, and this is a fabulous one. I first saw the video as a little boy, probably on MTV. Back then, I just liked the song without thinking about it. When I grew older, my appreciation for it increased even more as the production on it is just incredible. Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind and Fire worked on this track and I’m a massive fan of his. It’s one of the very few rock songs I can play in an eclectic disco set.”
FELIX DA HOUSE CAT SILVER SCREEN
TUFF CREW MY PART OF TOWN
LONDON GRAMMAR HEY NOW (ARTY RMX)
“I was very young when this record first came out. I didn’t think about how it was done, I just liked it. Once I started producing, I learned to appreciate the song even more. When you listen to how it’s done, it’s a very unlikely kind of beautiful track as Felix – who is now a good friend of mine – just didn’t care about compression. Everything is too loud: the snare, the acid sounds, the vocal. But the end result is so smooth and lovely, it’s bizarre. I was very honoured when I got the opportunity to do a remix of the track.”
ARMAND VAN HELDEN FUNK PHENOMENA “When this record came out, I was pretty much still a hip-hop DJ. I really did love other styles, but it just seemed impossible to mix it all up. On this crossover record, a Redman sample is taken and used in an offbeat way. Armand van Helden and my other hero Kenny Dope Gonzales showed me that you could be a producer and DJ of house as well as hip-hop. That was such an eye-opener for me. The record in which I myself first blended lots of different styles is Partycrasher. I sampled Redman, used house samples, bubbling samples, just mashed everything together – and you could say ‘Funk Phenomena’ was the inspiration for it.
CHUCKIE LATINO
“This track has been very important for the development of hardstyle. I heard it a lot as a youngster when I used to go out in a club called Parkzicht in Rotterdam. DJs like Darkraver and Buzz Fuzz played it very often, and for good reason. It’s a hiphop track, really, but because of the BPM and the breakbeats it could easily be played out to a rave crowd.”
GANJA KRU THE SUPERSHARP SHOOTER “What made this drum and bass record special is that it sampled LL Cool J rapping the alphabet. You could clearly hear how it was sampled with live recorded scratches. The S, the U, the P, the E, the R and so forth so that in the end the words “supersharp shooter” were spelled out. The drop in this record is just devastating as well. The record really means a lot to me as I have also sampled LL Cool J rapping the aphabet, but I then use the letters C, H, U, C, K, I and E to create the word Chuckie. I still use the sample today in DJ sets across the world.”
Last but not least, here’s one song that’s not one of Chuckie’s alltime favourites – yet – but it may just become yours. Brand new and produced by Mr. Chuckie himself, ‘Latino’ layers lazy brass and cumbia sounds over a thumping beat into an incredibly lush whole. It suits the weekend’s weather perfectly and – surprise, surprise – you’ll probably be hearing it tonight!
27
“I can really appreciate most styles but trance in general, I don’t know, it doesn’t trigger any emotions for me. This one is an exception, though. I’ve used it very often as a closing track. The first time I heard it was when Arty played after me somewhere. I was hanging out with a few friends in the VIP area and then this came on. A very long intro and a very long outro and it’s the outro that kills me, it's so beautiful. I went up to him afterwards to say how impressed I was and he said: ‘Thanks man, this compliment – coming from you, especially – it means a lot to me!’”

DON DIABLO FOCUS ON MAGICAL FRIDAY FREEDOM BY BUDWEISER | 21h30 - 23h00
Dutch future house producer Don Diablo explores previously unknown territory on his new record, ‘Future’. Dancing is not the only thing you can do to music, so on his poppy new album, Don wanted to go out on a limb and see if he could make people chill to his tunes as well. Ahead of his undoubtedly energetic Tomorrowland set, he talks about new choices, looking into the future, special relationships with fans, charity projects, and about being starstruck by someone… Yes, it also happens to those who are stars themselves! ‘Future’ turned out to be a record that has you looking ahead in terms of sound as well as feel. Can you elaborate a bit on that? “Well, there was one person who wrote something on my Facebook page, saying he expected more future house songs on the album. So I explained to him that I’d just scored fifteen number ones in the Future House charts on Beatport in a row, and that I really wanted to make a record where I could show another side of myself. Music comes in many forms. Sometimes you can dance to it and sometimes it makes you want to chill out or feel other emotions. As an artist, you want to grow, and at this time I felt like showing a more personal side of myself, musically as well as lyrically. ‘Future’ has become a very personal record with lots to explore on may different levels.” On the album, you create a crossover between future house and future pop. Tomorrowland knows about future house, of course, but how would you describe future pop? “To me, ‘future’ stands for a certain way of producing music. A good producer can create music in various genres and still
retain his own recognisable sound. So there are certain types of melody you can find in my dance records as well as on those records that aren’t necessarily made for playing out in clubs or on festivals. Future pop is more about the lyrics, the melody and the general feeling, and not only just about 'the drop'." You value the connection with your fans, the Hexagonians, very highly – more so than many other DJs, it seems. How did this special relationship come about? “My fans have really helped me to grow as an artist and as a human being. Whenever I feel down, I think about the happiness people experience when they listen to my music, and then I always find the energy I require to continue what I’m doing. Everything I communicate to fans comes from me personally. I don’t just produce my own music; I also produce my own music videos, design the clothes I sell on my own fashion label, the artwork for my records, and I fully control my own social media as well. I hardly sleep because of it, but I don’t mind. What I get back from my fans is absolutely worth the hard work.”
I’m planning to do more notfor-profit shows so we can work on a better future together. You’ve been working on a charity project, can you tell us something about that? “For my ‘A Better Future’ project, I’ve performed in 29
front of crowds in fourteen countries where people could decide how much they wanted to pay themselves. I performed for free at these shows and 100% of the proceeds at the door went to KWF, a Dutch charity that fights cancer by funding research. I’m planning to do more not-for-profit shows so we can work on a better future together.” Your upcoming show Future XL will be your biggest event to date. What can we expect? “Thousands of Hexagonians will gather in Amsterdam, where I will play an extra long set with mostly my own music, including my biggest hits as well as brand new productions. In addition, the stage production will be next-level in lots of different ways. ‘Future’ will be the central theme. Other than that, I don’t really want to give away any spoilers. People should just come and see for themselves on 8 December in Amsterdam!” As a down-to-Earth superstar, do you ever get starstruck by someone anymore? And do you have any stars in mind who you’d like to get a remix request from? “I’ve ticked quite a few boxes as far as remixes go. I’ve done them for Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, Madonna, Rihanna, and Bastille. I’m proud to have worked on those tracks. Still on my list are The Weeknd, Radiohead, Daft Punk, Bon Iver, and Kanye West. I don’t get starstruck too easily, but one time, when I happened to be in conversation with Will Smith, Jamie Foxx, Gwen Stefanie, Beyoncé and Jay-Z all at the same time, at a party in New York, I really did feel the urge to send a selfie to my mum.”

Black Coffee Organ of Harmony | 20h45 - 22h45 South Africa’s electronic scene is incredible, owing to its legacy of bubblegum (a type of disco), the house/hip-hop hybrid sounds of kwaito, Durban’s gqom rhythms and of course its very own strand of hypnotic deep house. One of the most exciting artists is no doubt Johannesburg’s Black Coffee. He’s worked with local stars like Hugh Masekela as well as American house producers such as Louie Vega and his own sound combines the best of both worlds. By the time Black Coffee comes on, Tomorrowland will feel like a breezy Ibiza night, with his euphoric and chilled-out beats forming the perfect soundtrack.

Alan Walker Mainstage 18h50 - 19h50 Half British, half Norwegian producer and DJ Alan Olav Walker currently holds the #17 position in the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list. Famous for his single ‘Faded’ (platinum status in over ten countries), Alan first got inspired by producers such as K-391 as well as composers like Hans Zimmer and Steve Jablonsky. With an interest in both technology and music production, it was only natural for Alan to start producing music on his laptop, which he then slowly started sharing on YouTube. The sound the twentyyear-old producer has developed over the course of his budding career is best described as a dreamy kind of slow house, brilliantly combined with lush and poppy vocal features, not unlike those of his friend and fellow Norwegian producer Kygo. With a staggering 3.4 billion YouTube channel views (his is the mostsubscribed channel on the platform registered in Norway), Alan Walker’s influence on today’s scene has proven to be ineffable. Vocalists are queueing up to be featured on his next catchy slow jam. And with so many productions on his resume already, you’d almost forget he’s also an excellent DJ. Although his mask, a sign of equality and unity, isn’t always part of his presence anymore, his sets still cater to the masses, enchanting adventurers from all walks of life.

To Jauz (real name: Sam Vogel), music knows no boundaries. Whether it comes to combining the most sonorous tunes into high-energy sets or pushing talents through his own label ‘Bite This!’, Sam refuses to obey any status quo. He went from aspiring producer to stardom in just under a year and proved himself to be one of the lasting forces of a new generation of musical tastemakers. A must-hear for all those who dig dubstep, bass, and trap, as well as those who fell in love with his latest releases like ‘Claim to Be’, ‘The Game’, ‘I Hold Still’, and ‘Ghost.’
As children, brothers Victor and Stephan Leicher were ‘forced’ by their parents to learn how to play an instrument for at least three years. In hindsight, they’re glad and forever grateful they had to. Their first musical love was the piano, on which they learned how to play everything from jazz to blues and funk. Decades and numerous international successes like ‘New Memories’ (feat. Afrojack) later, DubVision has clearly and happily shifted their focus from acoustic to electronic music, but without losing sight of their classical influences. It goes without saying that DubVision is on its way to becoming a force majeure in dance music, and for all the right reasons.

french montana As always, Tomorrowland looks beyond the limits of rave culture this year. Look left, look right and you’ll see pop stars playing live music everywhere. Moroccan-born, Bronx-bred rapper Karim Kharbouch a.k.a. French Montana (can you follow still?) doesn’t really need an introduction, but for those who have been living under a giant rock over the past five years or so, here goes! When Karim arrived in New York as a thirteenyear-old, he didn’t speak English, just Arabic and French (now you understand!), so his first years in the Big Apple were tough, and his family almost decided to move back to Casablanca. Thank God that didn’t happen as today, French Montana has scored a swath of major hits, both alone and with pals Jay-Z, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Chance the Rapper, as well as Justin Bieber. This experience has made him one of the most confident and entertaining MCs in the US hip-hop scene, and his show is sure to be a highlight of this Magical Friday for everyone who is into the urban and poppy side of the sounds Planaxis has to offer. In fact, we are quite certain it will be, as French himself likes to say, ‘Unforgettable’…
Being part of a Disco Dasco performance is just as much fun as it sounds. Their happy-making grooves and sunshine rhythms are bound to have you dancing on your feet in no-time. It’s joy with a capital J and whatever you do: don’t suppress the urge to smile, go wild, and draw your friends into the fray. It’s exactly what Disco Dasco want you to do, and your senses will thank you for it. Close your eyes and let Disco Dasco’s beats lead the way to that ultimate holiday feeling. Sometimes, feeling sundrenched doesn’t require any real sunshine!

As one of the most relevant artists of the hardcore scene, DJ Mag Dog started his career at the age of 16 as part of the ‘Hardcore Terrorists’ collective. With numerous hits such as ‘The Memory Disappears’, ‘Dangerous’, ‘Enter the Time Machine’ and ‘Here Come the Madness’, he’s steadily become an evergreen of his genre. Filippo’s broad taste is a hallmark of his style. Hardcore from mainstream to industrial: Mad Dog’s versatility always results in a slamming elixir of the hardest beats. When it comes to his closing performance at Pussy Lounge, ‘going out with a bang’ would still be an understatement.
