Welcome to April and the beginning of the hot season here in Florida. Last year it was so hot in Leesburg the kickstands were melting into the pavement and bikes were falling over in parking lots. So be careful when parking and walking away from your bikes when it’s scorching hot outside. We Floridians also know this means the Love Bugs will be out soon. Don’t get caught out on the open roads without a face shield or a full-face helmet. Ol’ Charlie Three Finger, god rest his soul, use to tell me to bring ketchup and mustard packets in my pocket and smile while riding, makes for a good lunch! Bike Week was amazing this year. We had 9 bike shows in the 10 days we were in Daytona Beach and every single one of them was very successful. Thank you to everyone who came out and entered our bike shows. We had some great trophies this year from championship belts to chess pieces and even dancing girls on poles for Grandview Live made by Misfit Metal Works and J-Sizzle Concepts! This was also one of the busiest Bike Weeks I can remember. Full Throttle stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach and I remember the traffic being backed up for main street, the first weekend, past our hotel! That’s more than a mile long! The Hard Rock Hotel is the place to stay in Daytona Beach! Their rooms are amazing, they also have a nice stage on their back deck for concerts. Jasmine Cain will be doing an album release party there on May 10th so we will be back in Daytona for that! Leesburg Bike Fest is right around the corner! This is the biggest 3-day motorcycle event in the state! The entire town gets involved when this event happens and it’s nothing like Bike Week. The cops are extremely friendly and welcoming to the biker com-

8

munity. There are numerous vendors up and down the streets, multiple stages, tons of entertainment and just a great time, not to mention the ride to get there is the best from the Tampa Bay Area. This is the best time of year to explore the back roads of Florida. Full Throttle will be having our Friday Leesburg Bike Fest Bike Show and Saturday is always the Rat’s Hole Bike Show. The national acts this year are very exciting with Vanilla Ice, Uncle Kracker and Vince Neil not to mention the tons of other bands playing all over town! There are also vendors at Gator Harley-Davidson a short ride from Main Street so be sure to check them out as well! Saturday night Bert’s Barracuda H-D also throws a Backyard BBQ Bash at a hotel just out of town in Clermont, this is always a great time and a party you won't want to miss! FULL THROTTLE OFFICES HAVE MOVED!!! We are in a new location! After purchasing the magazine 6 years ago we were located at Capt. Jacks Restaurant in Tarpon Springs. Well, we ran out of space there and moved up the road a half mile into a beautiful new building, where we actually have some offices to rent if you are looking for space! Great for tattoo studio’s, retail and much more! We will be hosting a monthly bike night on the last Wednesday of each month with burgers, hot dogs, beer and drinks for donations and possibly a small band. We are going to call it our Full Throttle Bike Night & Garage Party. Our new office address is 1844 N. Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs FL 34689. We hope you can make it out to our bike night and check out our new offices. We are here to help your business and events be successful! We sell advertising to print the magazine and have sponsorship to help put on events. If you are interested in advertising, please call us at 727-935-4875. We have ads from $100 a month to a Full-Page ad for $600 per month. We will also help promote your events on our Facebook page with over 143,000 likes, on our weekly email blast and we will hand out flyers for your event at the bike nights we are set up at. We are here to help your business and your events be successful, that’s our job! Happy birthday to my oldest daughter Krysie who turns 20 Love ya pumpkin and happy birthday to my Grandfather who turns 91, Love Ya Pops. Be safe, be smart, don’t drink and ride and I’ll see you in Leesburg!

Don’t Be A Quitter! This month, I’d like to tell you about two riders that recently came to my Ride Like a Pro class; one of which I’ll call Sam and the other Sally. Sam said he had about three years riding experience on a Ducati, but now has a Harley Street Glide. Sam said he doesn’t feel comfortable on the Street Glide due to its weight and especially has problems at low speeds. Sally claimed to have many years of riding experience and at one time was a professional motorcycle racer. In fact, Sally claimed to be an expert in so many fields, I lost track. Both Sam and Sally actually had zero riding skills. When I say zero skills, I’m not exaggerating. Both couldn’t have been any less skilled if this was the first time they had ever been on a motorcycle. Since my Ride Like a Pro course is an advanced course, I expect that the riders that come to my class at least have the basics down. Neither of these two had those basic skills. Fortunately, there were only three other riders in the class that day. In addition to my regular course, I have an adjacent parking lot where I can set up an easier course for just these types of riders. Plus, my wife Donna instructs along with me and she was able to work with the better skilled riders so I could dedicate some time to Sam and Sally. Sam and Sally started off at the same level. Both were unable to lean their motorcycles, even a tiny bit. They needed over 100

16

feet to make a Uturn. I offered both to try using my rental sportster instead of their own much larger and heavier touring bikes. Sam agreed but Sally, who knew everything, refused. What’s more, Sally had a big problem with listening as she would much rather talk and talk, and talk, well, you get the idea. Sam’s skills improved as soon as he got on the sporty. He could actually lean the bike a bit and got his circles and Uturns down to 50 feet, a 100% improvement in a matter of moments. I then had them try the slow cone weave with the cones set up at 14 feet apart. After four or five tries, Sam was able to weave through the cones without error. Sally just plowed straight through them with her clutch fully engaged at 20 mph. After her third try and with a mountain of excuses, Sally quit. I was unable to talk her out of quitting, believe me, I tried. Sam had something Sally didn’t. Sam had determination. In a half hour of one on one training, he was good enough to join the rest of the class. While he was not as good as the other three riders, he was thrilled with what he had learned in four hours. Sam came back the following week and again took the class on the Sportster. Halfway through the course he switched to his own bike and though he still had some fear on the heavier machine, he did pretty good. Two weeks later, he again came to class and used his own bike. Sam can now turn his bike in 18 feet, he can weave and lean like a pro and he is now able to brake, then swerve to avoid a crash when that inevitable situation arises. Although it took Sam longer than the average rider to learn the techniques, he is now superior to the average rider and he enjoys riding so much more. To say Sam is thrilled would be an understatement. The point is, no matter how bad a rider you are, if you have the will, I’ll show you the way. What about Sally you may ask? She has never come back. FROM WALL STREET TO MAIN STREET WALL STREET RIDES Invest Smart | Ride Safe Michelle Osborne www.fromwallstreettomainstreet.com mosborne@capesecurities.com Office: 754-MONEYAM /754-666-3926 Cell 727-459-4875 Office 727-290-2762 Ah tax time……Since we had a good year in many of the market indices last year and the economy seems to keep improving. Analysts are still calling for the longest bull market ever. It is all about economic numbers. The markets like predictability and we are in a predictable market. Being in a current rising market, you might want to take note of the tax law changes from 2018 that will affect you. Markets typically begin more volatility in the second quarter so the time to review your financial situation is now. Below are some examples of the new tax law changes. New Tax Brackets - income over $38,700., bracket is now 22%, over $82,000. 24%, over $157,500., 32% which are all lower than previous years. The new personal exemptions are single – $12,000., married - $24000., head of household $18,000. The new Alternative Minimum Tax Exemptions are unmarried individuals – $70,300., married filing jointly $109,400. With proper planning we can help review tax advantaged Estate tax law – The new tax law allows up to $11.8 million for individuals. This does not affect most people, however you would be surprised at what you have accumulated that can bypass probate with proper planning. It does however affect what you do about your estate. Trusts are not always the answer for estate planning and need to be carefully crafted. Used appropriately they can work. We can help you determine your directives prior

to working with your estate planning attorney. This can help maximize capitalization on any asset. Corporate tax – the previous top corporate tax bracket was 35%. Corporations were previously required to pay the highest of the 35% or the corporate AMT. The corporate AMT was repealed and the top corporate tax rate is 21%. This was a significant benefit to help corporate America and should be a positive effect on markets. Capital gains rates are now at 23%. Regardless of your situation, careful planning is the key for many individual investments to derive tax advantaged income and offset capital gains. Many assets can utilize capital gains deferral now with new tax laws created in 2017. With additional estate planning a lot of capital gains can permanently eliminated while still enjoying lifetime income after the sale of an asset. This is the best time of year to give me a call for an annual review of your entire financial situation. What happens in one part of your financial house, always affects the other parts of your house. So make sure I review your entire financial situation during tax season along with your accountant. I take a helicopter approach to your situation and work closely with your accountant or tax attorney to maximize your financial future. Source: FactCheck.org HAPPY RIDING - Michelle

Hey Yall. It was a great month of March at Daytona Bike Week with all the Events. The concert with Jasime Cain was amazing and the Hard Rock Hotel was absolutely awesome. One thing I am excited about was riding to Daytona alone which was on my bucket list. April will be a great month for riding. I will be attending the All Female Ride Day, April 12 in Jacksonville then heading to the Leesburg Bike Fest. I'm excited and looking forward to seeing everyone there. Make sure that you stop by the Full Throttle Tent and pick up a magazine to see whats new. Saturday, May 4th, 2019 is a day where lady riders come together to lift each other up in the spirit, passion, and skills of riding in one of the largest international events across all borders. The day brings us together as a unified sisterhood to get out there and “JUST RIDE.” We are hoping to make a huge difference with the empowering of women riders everywhere, and prove that ANYTHING is possible. Every woman riding on International Female Ride Day (IFRD) is a role model for the diverse, unique, and sassy. This day also promotes the common passion women share for motorcycling. It is Sassy Wind Sisters ultimate goal with the support

40

of our local community that this phenomenal woman’s event will be a day of great success and camaraderie. A shout out to all the sponsors of IFRD event, Crystal River Harley Davidson, Fran Haasch Law Group,SaSSy Wind SiSters, Full Throttle Magazine, Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA), Road Queen America, Big Wheel Women and J-Sizzle Concepts. Wow what can I say. Once again Daytona Beach Bike Week was off the chart. What a good time. The Hard Rock Hotel was the place to be. What a Hotel! The bike shows were amazing. Thank you so much Susan and Paula. You two know how to do it right. I want to give Kory Souza a big thank you as well for throwing one of the best bike shows and party at the Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach this year. If you were not there, you have no idea what you missed. Be sure to put it on your calendar for next time, It’s always the last Saturday of Bike Week. Next up is Leesburg Bike Fest. We will be hosted our Friday bike show once again on Main Street. Let’s pray it’s not 100 degrees again this year. About 75

would be great, lol. As bad as I hate to say it, we are headed into that dreaded rainy season again. Be prepared and ride safe as the storms pop up out of nowhere. We are almost done moving into our new offices. Look out for some great bike nights coming on the last Wednesday of each month. We have no one to answer to now so we can throw any kind of party at our office we want! Time to show Florida what a bike night is supposed to be like. Starting in May we will be doing one the last Wed of every month from 6 till 10. Like always, be free and ride safe. Daytona was hectic as hell for everyone it seems, especially for me as when I showed up so did a bad tooth. I went to an emergency dentist is Daytona Beach and six stitches and two less teeth later I was down for the count at the Hard Rock Hotel. But still got all the trophies done and in Daytona for the Grandview Live Bike Shows, The Hard Rock Hotel Bagger Battle Royal and a special Full Throttle Choice pick at the Kory Souza show! With that being said, stop by the new J-Sizzle Concepts Retail Store and Fabrication Shop located directly next door to the new Full Throttle Office in Tarpon Springs or you can just come by during out bike night on the last Wed. of every month 1844 N. Pinellas Ave. We can work on concepts together or whatever you have in your mind you would like me to make for you! Call me at 352-5844891.

So, we are working on some amazing Leesburg Bike Fest trophies for the Full Throttle Friday Bike show. This is going to be in front of the swamp stage and near the Library where Full Throttle & J-Sizzle Concepts will be set up the entire weekend. I will have pieces out there for sale and some awesome trophies for the show. Stop by and say hi and tell me your concepts and we will bring them to metal life together! I want to tank my partners in crime who have helped me out in this new venture called J-Sizzle Concepts. First, I would like to thank Marvin and Jenn from Misfit Metal Works. They do a lot of my metal fab and help me bring my ideas to life and cut pieces out I need to put together and make them extra special. I would also like to thank Tony at Full Throttle for helping make this business come to life offering a space for me to sell out of and a place to put in work. Without these people I would not be where I am today! Thank you.

What's up from E-Rocks world? I hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Daytona trip. I know that we at Full Throttle surely did. Not only did we have a successful trip, we too hosted a lot of great bike shows that showcased numerous varieties of bikes. Congratulations go out to each and every winner from all of our bikes shows. I would like to touch on something that seems to be going somewhat to the wayside. It appears that the longstanding tradition of waving at a fellow rider is getting few and far between. When a rider waves to a fellow brother or sister rider (regardless of motorcycle ridden) please keep the tradition alive of waving back. Waving is a sign of acceptance within our biker community, respect to a fellow rider, and something that

54

our four wheeled friends could learn from. I look forward to seeing you all on the roads and carrying on this tradition together. In closing I would like to take the time to thank all of our military veterans, and especially to those that are actively serving. Without those placing themselves into harms way each and every day, as well as those who have been there before, we as Americans could not enjoy the freedoms and luxuries that we do. If you have a chance please take a moment of your time to thank those who are currently serving, and those who have served. Lastly, we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events. For those attending the Leesburg Bike Fest stop by and say hello. Also, if you get a chance stop by our new office located at 1844 Alt 19, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689. E-Rock Out

Legendary female motorcycle riders have only fairly recently gleaned the spotlight for their contribution to motorcycling as a whole. Slowly the perspective has changed, thanks to the likes of confident female riders like 94 year old Gloria Tramontin-Struck who in a phone call shared the story of her introduction to motorcycle riding with me. She reports “I started riding in 1941, I didn’t want to ride but my brother made me get on and so I started riding.” She is adamant that she still does everything for herself! She currently only rides long-distance from her home state of New Jersey to places like Sturgis and Daytona, alongside her daughter and granddaughter as she shares the throttle passion with the important women in her life. She recently authored a book and started doing book signings and appearances to pass the time as she recovered from a medical procedure. She explained that “had no idea so many people would want me to come. I thought it would be a short time, like a year or so but the requests just keep coming.” As I explained to her that she has been inspiring lady riders she was delighted to hear it and seemed genuinely surprised, like it was the first time she was told she inspired women riders. It seems she doesn’t have any idea of the footprint she has created. Throttle-twisting women like Gloria Tramontin-Struck and legends like Bessie Springfield have paved the way for female

riders to be seen less as “fender fluff,” “fender ornaments,” “backpacks,” or “backrests,” and more as a legitimate presence in the motorcycle world. It is the job of our generation to promote and support the continuation of riding for all females. What actions are women riders taking? Women riders are breaking the mold and becoming a force in the hobbyist and sport side of motorcycling as well as leisure riding. We see young women like Brittany Olsen as a vintage boardtrack racer increasing interest and hope for a future generation of female riders. Brittany is surprisingly a young 30 year old mother of a 3 year old who can be seen flying with no brakes or clutch at speeds of 88 mph on one her vintage boardtrack cycles. She expressed to me, knowing that I am fellow female rider “it is so awesome to race these you should do it, it is so much fun.” Brittany says that “I am often questioned at why I would ride (race) while being a mother.” She quickly and confidently responds “I do this to show my son that you can do anything.” Last year Brittany took the final victory at the Billy Lane Sons of Speed Vintage Boardtrack race in Daytona. This year on March 9th she was poised to bring the heat once again by smoking her male counterparts, however due to bike malfunction in a later heat she did not claim a like honor this year. Brittany is making waves as a female vintage racer all over the country as she certainly shows her son and every man or woman that this lady rider, like every lady rider has a place on the road. Women like Brittany Olsen are the next generation of legendary riders. How do we be construct a solid foundation for a future generation of lady riders? By empowering every woman who has the passion and drive to ride their own motorcycle we build a network of support and a culture of acceptance for lady riders. While there is no shame in riding on a motorcycle, there is great power in ridging your own motorcycle. According to a Motor Cycle Industry study 1 out of 5 motorcycle owners is a woman, and amongst the millennial population that increases to 1 in 4. The future of the major cycle brands very well may rely on the revelation that women are no longer happy to take a backseat. The number of female riders has nearly tripled in just 20 years. Women riders are here to stay and we are growing in strength and numbers at a rapid rate. We are purchasing more than just shirts, and hats. We are purchasing bikes, accessories, and gear. We are paying top dollar for bikes, customization, and chrome detail. We are creating and joining riding groups. We are lawyers, doctors, educators, engineers, nurses, moms, business owners, designers, service women, and school administrators. We are standing up, standing out, and demanding old-school naysayers move over for a new wave of female rider empowerment, and a new generation of confident, strong, successful women, uncaged, arriving throttles in hand.

Besides a tune up, a few last minute customizations and a good detailing, many Harley owners are flocking to their local audio specialist to upgrade their stereo system. According to Peter Jensen, owner of Soundz, Inc. located in Daytona Beach, “One of the most popular requests has been to add Apple Carplay® to 2014 to 2018 Harleys. Harley Davidson® introduced the GTS radio with Carplay® in 2019 and customers with older bikes are looking for a way to retrofit them. Unfortunately, the GTS radio will not work in the 2014 to 2016 models at all, and the 2017-2018 models require first changing out the ECM, BCM, ABS module and instrument cluster to 2019 model year equipment. These parts are about $2,000.00 alone and take about 5 hours to install and code properly; and that does not include the $1899.00 additional cost of the GTS radio. Plus, the retrofitted 2019 ABS module throws codes which could become problematic, or even affect the factory warranty. We knew we had to find a way to offer our clients a seamless GTS radio retrofit and reached out to NAV-TV for help.” After months of product development, NAV-TV® and Soundz are pleased to announce the release of the SC-GTSi head unit replacement interface for 2014 to 2018 Harley Davidson® motorcycles. The SC-GTSi, offered exclusively through Soundz, is a plug-and-play interface that allows the 2019 GTS radio with Apple Carplay® to be seamlessly installed into 2014 to 2018 motorcycles. The interface requires no control unit replacement, no coding and does not affect the factory warranty. The module is transparent to both the factory Harley Davidson® and Techno Research® diagnostic, troubleshooting and tuning computer systems. In addition, all factory functions of the radio and motorcycle are retained. The SC-GTSi is available at an MSRP of $449.99, including a plug-and-play T-harness to integrate with the factory wiring and a mounting bracket for the interface. For a complete turn-key solution, Soundz also offers a package that includes the GTS Radio with Carplay®, model specific coding for the radio, the SC-GTSi interface, T-harness and mounting bracket for $2,348.99. Soundz facility is located at 700 Ridgewood Ave #107, Holly Hill, FL 32117 which is conveniently located 9 miles south of Bruce Rossmeyer’s Harley Davidson on US HWY 1, just a few blocks south of LPGA BLVD. They are less than 2.5 miles from Historic Main Street Daytona Beach, and less than 5 miles from Daytona Beach International Speedway. They may also be contacted at 386-256-2200. Hey everyone. Well March brought with it the first day of Spring and Daylight Savings Time. While the rest of the country is slowly warming up we didn’t miss a beat in The Florida Keys. We did throw down with our favorite bar staff at the home of the Full Throttle Poker Run Awards site, Sandbar Sports Grill, for Saint Patty’s Day. Lily and Andre and the rest of the gang are always there to make sure you have a great time. However, now it is time for those April showers to bring May flowers, as they say. We had our first of what will be many for the Spring here just last night. So, what do you get with these longer days? More sunlight hours to ride down the Keys and see us. And as with every month, there are a myriad of reasons to do just that. The Florida Keys Island Fest takes place April 6-7 in Islamorada. Close to 100 local artists and restaurateurs will be on hand to share their creations, with a Taste of Islamorada competition for

those who consider themselves foodies. In its 28th year this event also boasts live music and is free at Founders Park. Also, April 19-28 is the 37th annual Conch Republic Independence Day Celebration. If you don’t know the history here, in 1982 the Florida Keys symbolically seceded from the United States in order to protest Border Patrol roadblocks and checkpoints that became inconvenient to local residents. This week long party commemorates that event with an eclectic parade, a mock battle at sea with tall ships and a bed race which has been described as “the most fun you can have in bed with your clothes on.” The motto of our Conch Republic is, “we have seceded where other have failed! “ So, with all the great Bike Nights and other events that are taking place that the Full Throttle Team will be involved in all around the Sunshine State, don’t forget about our little micro nation down U.S. 1. Secretary General Peter Anderson said about The Keys, we are a sovereign state of mind seeking only to bring more humor, warmth and respect to a world in sore need of all three. Come share those with us this Spring. As always Full Throttle readers, Christy and I hope to see you down here at the bottom.
