Wow, did we get a ton of rain last month or what??? It was crazy that Central Florida went month and months with no rain and then we had downpours for twelve straight days! May is usually one of the driest months of the year but not in 2009! I guess it is a preview of our summer wet season that is quickly approaching. Freedom Fest on Memorial Day Weekend was spectacular! State Street was packed with vendors and people on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and it was great seeing so many people in Oldsmar. Attendance figures were estimated by the Upper Pinellas Chamber of Commerce and the Pinellas County Sheriffs Department at 12,500 and that was great for a first year event. The bands were fantastic with the Dive Bar Stalkers, Stormbringer and Bobby Friss bringing down the house! Please take a look at the recap in this issue and check out our website for hundreds of photographs. At press time we are getting ready for our Annual Five Bridge Run that takes place on May 30. This is a super ride that enables you to travel over the five bridges that connect Tampa Bay. On June 13-14 the “best run of the year” happens as our Annual Sore Ass Run will start in Pasco Country and “jiggy-jog” through Florida ending up in Daytona Beach. If you have never been a part of the Sore Ass Run, you’re missing a great time! Check out the ad in this issue and make plans to join us! I want to send out Happy Birthday wishes to my son Paul who is in the Navy and stationed in Key West, Big Al who turns another year older on 6/21 and my beautiful granddaughter Ashlynn who turns four on 6/27. I also want to send out Happy Anniversary wishes to Jim and Teresa Weigand and to my fantastic wife Tracy as we celebrate thirteen years together on 6/8. I love ya baby! Don’t forget that Father’s Day in Sunday June 21. Please ride responsibly and I hope to see you on the Sore Ass Run ... it is a fun, fun time!

Well, May was certainly an interesting month wasn’t it! Full Throttle helped put on one of our biggest events we have ever been part of in Oldsmar and it was great! We have heard nothing but good response and good suggestions for next year! This was the first time their downtown was shut down where no cars could go down and only bikes and pedestrians could be in the streets. Thanks to everyone who came out and had a good time! Besides that, at the end of the month we had our Annual 5 Bridge Poker Run! Look online for those pictures and the recap in the July issue. We also have a bike night at the Clearwater Threshers Baseball field on July 18th where you will be able to ride on the field for the National Anthem, free admission and fireworks at the end of the night! We have been part of this for the past 3 years and it is always a blast! There will be a bike show before the game and the winners will also receive their trophies on the field at the 7th inning stretch. If you can make this night it is a ton of fun and we hope to see you there. We are running a summer advertising special for the next 4 months if you are interested in trying our magazine to see if it can bring you any new business. You pay for 3 months and get a 4th month for FREE for all new advertisers only! Go on our website for more details on this special and see how to get 10% off of the total price!!! Contact Full Throttle Magazine at 813-814-1424 or call any rep in your specific area. You can see who you would be calling on page 15 in this month’s magazine. Make sure you check out the very awesome article written this month by our own Nighttrain on Jesse James! He has been working his butt off lining up some of the top hitters and biggest names in the motorcycle community, so you can have a personal little insight that others may not have or know about these people. There is a lot of work involved in these articles and the set up. Great job Nighttrain on all the articles you have done so far! I would like to also thank Fran Haasch for helping us bring this month's cover with Jesse James to a reality. Fran is always there for the bikers and this community! I would like to take this chance and say Happy Birthday to my big brother, Paul on June 3rd and to my sweet wonderful daughter who is a ball of never ending energy, Ashlynn Brooke, who turns 4 years old on June 27th, and a happy belated B-Day to Ricki last month, sorry I missed it in the mag! I would also like to say Happy Fathers Day to my Dad and Grandfather. I wouldn’t be the person I am today with out them and their guidance. Make sure you give your own Dad a call on Fathers Day, people come and people go in life and the only constant you have is your family and their unconditional love. By the way….has anyone meet a national champion lately? Don’t drink and ride and I will see you soon.

make our day.

In honor of May being Women Rider Month, the Diva Angels hosted a ladies only ride to Cherry Pockets Fish Camp and Restaurant in Lake Wales, FL on May 17. Gulf Coast (south of the Skyway) and Tampa Bay chapters and their guests rendezvoused midway on a back roads journey to their destination. Roughly 40 women riders were present and a fine time was had by all. Lunch included the usual fish camp fare with man-size portions - catfish, burgers, and fried green tomatoes. Our back road journey home proved that angels do ride between the clouds, and in and out of the rain. The final stretch home was sunshine that dried off the rain. Ahhhhh! Nothing like an 240+ mile all day ride to

Women Rider Month was declared this year by Harley-Davidson as an offshoot of International Female Ride Day which was started in 2007 by Vicki Gray of Motoress.com and falls on the first day of May. This special day seeks to promote awareness and celebrate women riders of all ages across the globe. The Diva Angels will be present at their booth for the May 31 Born to Ride Tribute to Moms and Women Motorcyclist event at the Wild Wing Café, and plan to win the chapter challenge at the Bikers 4 Boobs Poker Run on June 7. I received an email last month asking me whether law enforcement can get a search warrant after they or their undercover accomplice buy drugs from a residence, and my response is yes. If the cops want you bad enough they will find a way to get a search warrant to search your home. However, a case is not lost just because there is a signed search warrant. There are numerous ways to attack a search warrant. There are some hurdles and obstacles that law enforcement can face in getting such a search warrant. Normally, the cops will do their buys at a particular house and then take their affidavit in support of a search warrant to a judge for him/her to review and sign off on the search warrant. This judge looks at all the documentation and then decides whether there is a fair probability that contraband or evidence will be located at that particular residence. When a defense counsel files his Motion to Suppress the evidence in a particular case in dealing with a search warrant, they often look at the probable cause aspect of a case to attack. This attack on the search warrant occurs at the trial court level with a hearing. If the last drug buy from a particular residence was less than 30 days after the purchase of drugs, then the finding of probable cause in a case will likely be upheld. However, if more than 30 days has elapsed since the last purchase at a residence then the theory of “Staleness” often applies and the

probable cause issue swings in favor of the defendant and towards suppression of the evidence. Last year the Second District Court of Appeal in Florida held that a single sale from a location 29 days prior to the request for a search warrant established only a “slight possibility” and not a “fair probability” of finding drugs at that home during a search warrant. The court noted that there is a 30 day rule, but that each case should be examined on its facts. In the recent case of Herring v. United States, our Supreme Court of the United States held that the exclusionary rule (suppression of evidence rule) does not apply to an unconstitutional search that was the result of isolated and slight police negligence. The Court also stated that flagrant or deliberate police misconduct will allow the exclusionary rule to survive and thus the evidence is tossed. The bottom line is just because there is a search warrant in your case, all hope is not lost. Bobby G. deserves a holler, and yes Bobby you are right there are corrupt attorneys, not just corrupt cops. Be smart, educated and Trust No One (except me) when it comes to your rights, Jerry T.

JUST LIKE STEVE MCQUEEN

As I write this article I'm watching LeMans one of my favorite Steve McQueen movies(and his personal favorite) Yes I know I'm writing for a motorcycle magazine and should be watching the cult classic "On Any Sunday" or at least " The Great Escape" and lets not forget "Bullit". But I'm a sucker for those Gulf Porsche 917's fighting the factory red Ferraris, but then I'm a Ducati and BMW fan, guess I see a similarity. If you haven't seen the above 3 films, go watch one, I don't think it would be so bad to be..............Just like Steve McQueen There's a Sheryl Crow song from about 5 years back called "Just like Steve McQueen , It's on "youtube". It got me to thinking as have my rides on my two stroke 1968 Kawasaki Bushwacker and my 1970 Suzuki TS250. About a man voted most iconic motorcyclist ever in 2007, 27 years after his passing and whose favorite beer was Old Milwaukee. So I grabbed "On Any Sunday" and then my thoughts drifted to a motorcycle legend. Terrence Steven McQueen a cowboy, a convict, 3rd. degree black belt, pallbearer at Bruce Lees funeral, motorcycle racer and the ultimate vintage and antique motorcycle collector. The king of cool, a legendary film star. Men wanted to be him, women just wanted him. He grew up in a reform school, was in trouble with the law, once worked on James Deans motorcycle as a mechanic. He saved 5 men in the Artic as a Marine and was rewarded with guard duty on President Harry Trumans Yacht. But deep down he wondered, "am I an actor who races or a racer who acts"?..........................Just like Steve McQueen. A member of the 1964 Six Days Trails motorcycle racing team held behind the then Iron Curtain. Ranked in the top ten of dirt bike racing as an amateur who routinely finished in front of the professional riders. 8th place riding in the grueling Elsinore desert race with a broken foot.A Hollywood Walk of fame star in 1986, inducted into the motorcycle hall of fame in 1999. His company Solar Productions funded ,promoted and Steve McQueen rode in "On Any Sunday" a documentary on motorcycle racing and the classic attitude that it installed in us and a movie that is still relevant today. Steve McQueen said if he couldn't act he would have been a hood. I think that if he hadn't been a film star he would have been a professional racer. Racing is life, everything else is just waiting............................Just like Steve McQueen. When questioned once whether stardom or racing meanti the most to him he said "I enjoy racing in any form, because the guy next to me could not care less what my name is. He just wants to beat me" adding that it was "the most exciting thing there is. But unlike drugs and booze you get high with dignity"................spoken............Just like Steve McQueen McQueens collection of 210 motorcycles, 55 autos and 5 airplanes is an unprecedented private collection and if this at all interests you, get a copy of "McQueens Machines". There was a record setting auction of his motorcycles. I'm not going to go into it as it saddens me to see a collection divided up to the masses. Steve should still be enjoying his bikes. I see him riding that 1940 Indian Scout right now at age 78, but his life was cut short in 1980 at the young age of 50 by lung cancer. Some say from his multi pack cigarette habit or the asbestos he was exposed to as a marine or from fire suits he wore racing.. His two biggest regrets he once said was not being allowed to make The Great Escape jump due to insurance regulations and studio concerns. He did however get them to let him chase "himself" dressed as a German soldier and his second was he could never buy the Mustang he drove in Bullit although he tried on many occasio ns...............................Just like Steve McQueen. As we all found out he was a racer who acted. The movie studios lowered the boom on his risky 200 MPH car racing but could not keep him out of his passion for motorcycle racing. To overcome the studios determined efforts to stop him he would enter competition under the name of Harvey Mushman but it didn't take spectators long to figure out who was riding the lightning fast Husqvarna and not much longer till Harvey was in the top ten.He enjoyed the grueling off road racing more than road racing. He and fellow actor Dennis Hopper were riding one day on their street machines and came upon a pack of dirt bikes. McQueen was amazed by their capabilities , the next day he purchased a Triumph 500 from a man named Bud Elkins. You know as many times as I watch The Great Escape I always think just once McQueens going to make that jump sail right over the

barbwire and into Switzerland, but it never happens just Steve laying there pinned by a wrecked Triumph (made to look German) motorbike pouring gas on him, as he lays there tangled in barbwire and a wrecked Euro-bike, he looks down at his bike and gives the tank a pat.............Just like Steve McQueen. Actually the jump was made by Bud Elkins his longtime racing and acting partner who McQueen called when the studio wouldn't allow him to do the jump. In a later interview Elkins confessed that he hit that jump wrong and would have never made it had he hit the marks. McQueen did much of the driving in Bullit and LeMans and was a world class racer and still there were many times that a crowd would holler "great jump Steve" referring to Elkins great escape fence clear, to which the king of cool would reply "Yeah it was but I didn't do it"..............................Just like Steve McQueen. Two of my heros, more for who they were off screen than the roles they played on were Steve McQueen and John Wayne, one for the passion of racing and motorcycles and the other for his passion of America and its freedoms, but both for saying what they believe in and doing it , and for being two of Americas great bad asses. An interviewer once asked McQueen what a professional was, he pointed to John Wayne.................Just like Steve McQueen. You know as I have written this article and taken my old dirt bikes for a few rides, dated a few more younger women and added to my motorcycle and memorabilia collection its made me think, maybe I am aspiring to be.................JUST LIKE STEVE MCQUEEN Robert DeMoss (National Champion) MR 300 welcomes comments, ideas and pictures. Bubba's Bikes For Badges Bubba, Spice, Ned and the whole crew was on hand at The Derby Lane Dog Track for Bubba's Bikes for Badges Poker Run. It was a nice turn out and it certainly was a hot one! There were bikes flying through the air, good food and drinks, and all the winners gave all if not most of the money back as everyone knew it went to a good cause. They have already announced that they will be moving this event next year to March as it will be a little cooler at that time of the year. Congrats on a great event and we can’t wait till next year to be part of it again. This was the first year in a Bud Run 7 long time that Full Throttle was part of the Bud Run and we would like to say thanks for having us involved! The winner of the trailer was Mary Comiskey. She bought 1 ticket on Saturday with 4 one dollar bills and 4 quarters. It was delivered on the next Monday. There was a record turn out of 302 paid riders, and probably a turn out of 500 total for the auction and raffle. This year they raised $25,000 (24,998) dollars, to be exact, which is a great job with the economy and everything the way it is. Radical Randy and his team did a great job on the auction and I think everyone had a great time raising money for a child who really needs it and deserves it.

Hot, hot, hot .... that describes the overall party as well as the weather for the Quaker Steak & Lube Mega Bash and Full Throttle’s #151 Party that took place on Sunday afternoon May 17. The Lube gave away a big screen television as well as a free keg of beer. Music was provided by Uncle Daddy, Kore, White Noiz and Fall 2 Earth. Full Throttle was there celebrating 151 consecutive issues .... yes if you do the math that is over twelve years of publishing the number one motorcycle in the state. We all had a great time and once again Quaker Steak & Lube proved it is the motorcycle events leader in the Tampa Bay area!

TIP of the Month Custom Led lights installed on Cars and motorcycles is a multimillion-dollar industry, some installers will sell you a package without informing you of the laws in the State of Florida. Before you spend hundreds of dollars on lighting up your bike, look into the laws. The following will save you more than your investment in fines and having to pay to have your scoot wired properly. It’s all about money people, look out for your own best interest. Speaking with Fred and Sharon Scalf, owners of Reno’s’s Led Sleds.LLC They sent me the following information “ quote “ .

Hey Wayne, This is what I was told about LED lights when I received my permitting: Blue and red, flashing or not, are illegal for road use except for emergency vehicles. Police vehicles are the only ones allowed to run blue lights. No flashing lights of any color while operating a non-emergency vehicle on the road. There are a few exceptions like physicians and technicians authorized by the state to run red lights and off duty officers and fire fighters who are responding to an emergency and have obtained prior authorization to run emergency lights on their private vehicles. Tow trucks must run flashing or rotating amber lights when performing a recovery or loading a vehicle road-side and while transporting a vehicle if the operator deems such use necessary. There are other state agencies whose vehicles are allowed to run emergency lights but they must be responding to an emergency. The bottom line is that it doesn’t say anywhere that any colored auxiliary lighting is illegal other than red or blue. So to be safe avoid those two colors and don’t run with any of the other colors flashing. I talk to every cop I get a chance to about lighting. They all say the same thing. NO RED or BLUE. NOTHING FLASHING. I’ve done plenty of bikes for cops and not all of them agree with the laws pertaining to blue and red but don’t recommend taking a chance either. Reno’s Led Sleds. roadside day or night, and may use such lights while towing a vehicle on wheel lifts, slings, or under reach if the operator of the wrecker deems such lights necessary. A flatbed, car carrier, or rollback may not use amber rotating or flashing lights when hauling a vehicle on the bed unless it creates a hazard to other motorists because of protruding objects. Further, escort vehicles may show or display amber lights when in the actual process of escorting overdimensioned equipment, material, or buildings as authorized by law. Vehicles of private watch, guard, or patrol agencies licensed pursuant to chapter 493 may show or display amber lights while patrolling condominium, cooperative, and private residential and business communities by which employed and which traverse public streets or highways. (4) Road or street maintenance equipment, road or street maintenance vehicles, road service vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, petroleum tankers, and mail carrier vehicles may show or display amber lights when in operation or a hazard exists. (5) Road maintenance and construction equipment and vehicles may display flashing white lights or flashing white strobe lights when in operation and where a hazard exists. Additionally, school buses and vehicles that are used to transport farm workers may display flashing white strobe lights. (6) All lighting equipment heretofore referred to shall meet all requirements as set forth in s. 316.241. (7) Flashing lights are prohibited on vehicles except as a means of indicating a right or left turn, to change lanes, or to indicate that the vehicle is lawfully stopped or disabled upon the highway or except that the lamps authorized in subsections (1), (2), (3), (4), and s. 316.235(5) are permitted to flash. (8) Subsections (1) and (7) do not apply to police, fire, or authorized emergency vehicles while in the performance of their necessary duties. (9) Flashing red lights may be used by emergency response vehicles of the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Health when responding to an emergency in the line of duty. (10) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

Miss California I am behind you 100%. Don’t let that limp wrist twerp rattle you. I bet he wished he had a bunch of bikers behind him! I have had a hard time with drug stores as well as the doc. When I had my heart fixed I was on pain meds, someone told me to count my pills and sure enough I came up short, so I went back to the drug store to tell them. They said they did not make mistakes and acted like I was trying to get extras and made me look like the bad guy. So the next time I poured them out on the counter and counted them and they complained I was holding up people behind me, so I went to a drug store down the street! This was a different company so everything was okay, except I could not understand them very good. And when I was shorted my breathing med and went back to complain they did the same thing! I got loud for a few minutes, got the manager told him to take an inventory. This med cost about $200.00 a month! They finally gave it to me, so I went shopping for another drug store. I went to several and finally I went to a Walgreens at 13317 N. Boulevard in Tampa Florida and was greeted by a lady named Alicia Ball. She was the most helpful one I had met and spent time with me making sure I understood everything. The next trip she introduced me to the boss his name was Nathan Philyaw. He was great also making sure I understood everything. I finally told him the trouble I had but I was very happy with them so I am sure it pays to shop for a new drug store if you are not happy. Thanks Nathan and Alicia and the staff. I ran into the Holbrook’s at Leesburg Bike Fest. Alan Holbrook puts on a bike stunt show. I have known him about 10 years now. He was about 14 or 15 doing what he does

know I looked at him like he was a kid when he introduced me to his wife it shocked me I guess. He has grown up. How time flies. He is still doing the stunt show working for Disneyland! If you ever get a chance to see him, do so. A friend of mine who works on computers has started something called “bikers helping children because we care” It seems like there is a need for it because it has grown to the point where Greg needs help. You can check it out Greg@bikerscare.org www. bikerscare.org Greg Reaster 813-574-6565 home 813-965-4477 cell. The Showman’s Club in Gibsonton Florida (7 miles south of Tampa off highway 41 south on Riverview Drive) had lots of rain last year so they shut down the Wednesday night bike night and started a new one on Tuesday night. They have a new format, an adult one to start with, there is no admittance fee! But if you ride in, bike rider and passenger gets a free beer if you get there early! They have poles, I don’t know what that’s for!! A disc jockey! Wings, Burgers, Italian Sausage, Fries and it all smells good. Like the state fair. I’ll see you there from time to time. See you soon Rita

May 16th, The Bud Run was another great success!! Little Cole Rosandich, stole our hearts! “Coley Moley” is an adorable 3 yr old that was born with Cerebal Palsy; it affects his legs and keeps him from walking. Although he manages to walk with a walker & has a wheelchair, he wants so much to be able to run & jump like his brother & sister. Pepin and the biker community managed to rally together for their 7th annual Poker Run!! With Cole this year's recipient, the winners of the poker hands donated most of all the money back, helping to raise $24,998 towards his Surgery! Great Job! Can’t wait for Coles status updates! Kudos to everyone!! Full Throttle did it again, hosted another Kick Ass party … The Oldsmar Freedom Fest!!! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it there until Saturday afternoon, but when I got there, I tell you we had a BLAST!! There was plenty of entertainment, awesome food, and wonderful vendors! I hear Stormbringer rocked as always. But I do have to say, I have been going to Daytona for 15 yrs, and the Bobby Friss Band, is a fixture there every bike week. Although I have seen them many, many times, this event I was just blown away by them! I even felt like a groupie there, for a few minutes! LOL! I never left the front row! Jerry Riggs was F&^%$# incredible! Even though I really wanted to see them play their last couple gigs in Fl, before heading up North, I can tell you I will definitely seek them out when they return!! Can’t wait till October to see them play at the Cotee River Bike Fest and in Daytona at Ponce inlet!! A special shout out to my Girl Pam K, for finding my lost wad of $$$’s, and to Vicki G who I got it back from! Topped off my night!! Stay tuned for the return of FT speaks to riders next month… Until next time…

The Starting of a New 4th of July Tradition Jimmy and the gang at The Fisherman’s Shack on Old Dixie Hwy. in Hudson, Florida wants to put Hudson, on the party map. Over the years, when it came to the 4th of July. If you wanted to party in Hudson, you went some place else. Well now if you live anywhere close to Hudson, Florida. You have The Fisherman’s Shack 1st Annual “Ride-In Raft Race”. They hope to give everyone a chance to see some hot bikes, hotter women and funny races. It’s going to be a Raft Race on the water and a Laff Race on land. A ride in bike show. Music and games by The Stage Vixen, DJ Patti. Everyone will have something to do. They are going to raffle off a 1971 Harley Davidson Sporster at $10 a ticket. I’m going to buy one for myself. A portion of the proceeds to be donated to the Cotee River Lions Club. Come by and have some food and fun. Just take US 19 to Hudson Ave. turn east, toward the Gulf to Old Dixie Hwy. turn right till you see The Fisherman’s Shack right in front of you. Check out the ad in this section. Some other place you may have a hard time finding is the Cigar Bar at 9764 Little Rd. in New Port Richey. They have a Bike Night on Monday night from 7pm till they tell you to go home. It’s north of Embassy Blvd. and just south of Fox Hollow Rd. tucked back in a shopping center with Publix. They have cold beer, hot ash, pretty women, free food and music. Easy to get to and from on Little Road. They make the women feel welcome with a ladies night Tuesday and Thursday. Women drink free. Where you have women drinking for free, you have me. Well I drop by in the day time too. I did drop by Governor’s Lounge on St. Rd. 52 for the start of a monthly Biker Bash BBQ. It should be the 3rd Saturday of the month. So when you are marking down you calendar, first weekend Webster, Now you can put down Governor’s Lounge in the 3rd Saturday. You get a lot of people eating, drinking, and playing games. Add good music and you have a full day. Also don’t forget about Tarpon Springs Bike Fest. Check on the dates. S andy ’s Snapshots CITRUS COUNTY BIKE FEST/AMERICAN IRON AND MUSCLE WEEKEND Bikers, along with Bike & Car enthusiasts greeted this 3 day event, held on May 1st, 2nd and 3rd with a great deal of enthusiasm. Many turned out to support H-D of Crystal River’s main fund raising event held annually. Thousands of dollars were raised for Big Brothers Big Sisters, Hospice, CASA, Operation Yellow Bow, Freedom Calls, PHCC Community College & the Hughie Thomasson Scholarship. The event started on May 1st at the Rock Crusher Canyon with a kick off party hosted by H-D of Crystal River. There were food samplings from area restaurants, local merchants, live music by One Flite Up and welcome to Citrus packages given out. Saturday & Sunday saw it all happening, starting with a free pancake & sausage breakfast & bike blessing by CMA. There were tons of vendors, a kid zone, 2 poker runs, bikini bike/car/truck wash, bikini contest, 12 class bike show, antique car show, vette show, burn out pit, dyno jet & more. Then there were the Bands------and their phenomenol sounds------from David Live, Stryke and Mick Sharp Band to the final concert at Rock Crusher Canyon with the Ridge Runner Band, Southern Rocks Finest with Artemis Pyle, Bobby Friss, Big Engine, Outlaws and the headliners 38 Special whom, if we were not already outside, would have blown the roof off. A great big thanks to Warren, Cheryl, event staff & store staff for showing everyone a fantastic time. For more photos go to www. floridafullthrottle.com and click on events.

PARTY IN THE PASTURE/OLD SCHOOL BIKER RODEO What do you do when you have a week-end of beautiful, sunny weather, 2,500 Bikers, campsites on a cattle ranch for both tents and RV’s, and the thundering roar of motorcycles? Why you enjoy it, because you’re at The Party in the Pasture aka Old School Biker Rodeo. The crowd was great, and as usual, the food and drinks were very reasonably priced. There was a nice variety of vendors, great bike games and superb entertainment. And of course, our main reason for being there -----THE VETERANS-----who were so fondly honored and remembered. Approximately $16,000.00 was raised for the Vets. I salute you J.O.(Jimmy) Batten, not only for your hospitality, but your untiring efforts to help the Vets and recognizing the courage, selflessness and action that these men and women have given for all of us. A great job well done!

RELAY FOR LIFE On May 2nd, The Candi’s Crusaders Relay Team held a benefit at Grass Flats. There were 50/50 drawings, chance drawings, silent auctions, food, fun and wonderful friends. The event was MC’d by Bobby Leone of Cruizin’ Eagle, with live music provided by the Rebel Pride, Kilo and Gunn Hill Road Bands. The day was a great success with over $3,000.00 raised for The Cancer Society. Great Job!

It's that time of year again when we take time to honor the men with a "HAPPY FATHERS DAY" to those here and those who are gone and not forgotten! To those special men who we share the highway with and to all of the men who have stepped up to make our BIKER Community a more fun place to be! I would like to share a E-mail received from some very important men in our life who will not be home to share this day with their Father, Son, or Daughter. These men are members of NMCB 27 Stationed in AL ASAD, Iraq. They would like to take a moment to thank the "Chrome Divas" for their support to the Troops during their recent deployment. These SEABEES have been providing Construction Support to the IIMEF during Operation Iraq Freedom. The Ft. Myers/Cape Coral Chrome Divas provided Care Packages as well as "FULL THROTTLE" Magazines to the deployed SEABEES.. Many of the members are Harley Davidson Riders as well! A “Happy Fathers Day to my own Dad (Bob) and to my Husband (Bobby)., two men who can certainly "MAKE SHIFT HAPPEN"! Tell next time Keep your Happy Azz in the Wind! Donta

FIGHTING ANTS WITH FLIES Researchers in Texas are fighting fire ants in a new and different way. They are using a tiny fly called the “phorid fly” who lays eggs on the fire ants. GREEDY CREDIT CARD COMPANIES Greedy, greedy, greedy .... that’s all I can say about credit card companies who are looking to revive annual fees, curtail rewards programs and start charging interest immediately on purchases instead of allowing a grace period. They are saying that customers who routinely pay off their credit card balances have been enjoying a “free ride” because they have not had to pay any fees and they accumulate points for air travel and other perks. That flat out stinks! Why punish good customers who use their credit cards in a smart and timely manner? Damn I hate banks and credit card companies!

THOUGHTS OF WISDOM… 1. Day without sunshine is like night. 2. On the other hand you have different fingers. 3. Depression is merely enthusiasm without anger. 4.Change is inevitable, except from vending machines. 5. If you think nobody cares, just try missing a couple of payments! ******************************************** • It was George the Mailman’s last day on the job after 35 years of carrying the mail through all kinds of weather to the same neighborhood. When he arrived at the first house on his route, he was greeted by the whole family who congratulated him and sent him on his way with a tidy gift envelope. • At the second house, they presented him with a box of fine cigars. The folks at the third house handed him a selection of terrific fishing lures. • At the fourth house, he was met at the door by a strikingly beautiful woman in a revealing negligee. She took him by the hand, gently led him through the door, which she closed behind him, and took him up the stairs to the bedroom where she blew his mind with the most passionate love he had ever experienced. • When he had enough, they went downstairs and she fixed him a giant breakfast: eggs, potatoes, ham, sausage, blueberry waffles, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. When he was truly satisfied, she poured him a cup of steaming coffee. As she was pouring, he noticed a dollar bill sticking out from under the cup’s bottom edge. “All this was just too wonderful for words,” he said, “But what’s the dollar for?” • “Well,” she said, “Last night, I told my husband that today would be your last day, and that we should do something special for you. I asked him what to give you. He said, ‘Screw him. Give him a dollar.’

I urgently needed a few days off work, But, I knew the Boss would not allow me to take leave. I thought that maybe if I acted ‘Crazy’ then he would tell me to take a few days off. So I hung upside-down on the ceiling and made funny noises. My co-worker (who’s blonde) asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb, so that the Boss might think I was ‘Crazy’ and give me a few days off. A few minutes later the Boss came into the office and asked, ‘What in the world are you doing?’ I told him I was a light bulb. He said, ‘You are clearly stressed out. Go home and recuperate for a couple of days.’ I jumped down and walked out of the office... When my co-worker (the blonde) followed me, the Boss asked her, ‘..And where do you think you’re going?!’ She said, ‘I’m going home, too. I can’t work in the dark!’

A Florida senior citizen drove his brand new custom Harley out of the dealership. Taking off down the road, he pushed it to 80 mph, enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left. ‘Amazing,’ he thought as he flew down I-95, pushing the bike even more. Looking in his rear view mirror, he saw the state trooper behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring. He got it to 100 mph, then 110. Suddenly he thought, ‘What am I doing? I’m too old for this,’ and pulled over to await the trooper’s arrival. Pulling in behind him, the trooper walked up to the Harley, looked at his watch and said, ‘Sir, my shift ends in 30 minutes. Today is Friday. If you can give me a reason for speeding that I’ve never heard before, I’ll let you go.’ The senior takes off his helmet, looks at the officer and then says, ‘Three years ago, my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper. I thought you were bringing her back.’ ‘Have a good day, Sir,’ replied the trooper smiling as he walked back to his patrol car *************************************** ******************************************* There was this Bubba and Cooter were worklittle guy sitting in biker ing for the city public works department. bar, drinking, minding One would dig a hole and the other his own business when would follow behind him and fill the hole all of a sudden this great in. big guy comes in and They worked up one side of the --WHACK!!-- knocks him street, then down the other, then moved clean off the bar stool on to the next street, working furiously and onto the floor. all day without rest, one Bubba digging a The big guy says, ‘That was a kahole, then Cooter filling it in again. rate chop from Korea.’ The little guy thinks An onlooker was amazed at their ‘GEEZ,’ but he gets back up on the stool and hard work, but couldn’t understand what starts drinking again when all of a sudden they were doing. We at ABATE of Florida, Inc would like to say “Thank You” for all you do and to our veteran’s and hope that you and yours had a great Memorial Day. We appreciate you and support you 100%. I would like to take a moment to thank our Governor Charlie Crist for once again and our great state of Florida for signing our Proclamation to make May Motorcycle Safety and Awareness month, along with all the local councils that welcomed our chapters to do the same. Thank you to all that went out and made a difference this month. This is the time to make more aware of motorcyclists and their safety. We as bikers always are practicing safe riding skills on 2 and 3 wheels while watching out for those in cages. As many of you may know we strive to reach out to the public about motorcycle safety and awareness. It is important to make others aware that we are out their. Despite the economy, sales in the United States of new motorcycles in 2008 still topped the one-million mark and have continued to do so for the sixth straight year. Scooter sales last year reached their highest annual level ever. This is why we at ABATE of Florida, Inc strive to reach out thru local bike shops and civic organizations etc., to educate on safety and awareness. One of the events we attended was Stormy Hill Harley Davidson to attend their big event on May 9th; it was all about safety and awareness on our roads. Thank you Peggy for including us at your event. Lake County Chapter is hosting the next state board meeting Saturday, June 13th starting at 12 noon. The Delegates meeting will promptly follow starting at 2:00pm. The location will be the University of FL Extension Office AG Center at 1951 Woodlea Road Tavares, Florida 32778. More information is available at http://lake.abateflorida.com or contact Griz at 352-742-7754 or Kevin at 352-267-0298. June 15th is National Ride Your Bike to Work Day. June 21st – Happy Fathers Day – Get out and ride and enjoy your day! Make sure that you mark you calendar for our 5 Star Event that is coming up Saturday, July 18th at The Shell Factory and Nature Park from 11am – 7pm located at 2787 North Tamiami Trail in North Ft. Myers, Florida. This is put on by Estero River, Southwest, Peace River, Caloosahatchee and the Gator Alley Chapters. To keep you up to date on the 2009 Florida Legislative Session, it was extended one week so that the Senate and the House could pass the budget. We are waiting on the Governor to sign into law the follow-

ing bill SB 1100 which is the bill that removes the language that a tag MUST BE HORIZONTAL was passed. It changes the language to read “The license tag of a motorcycle or moped must be permanently affixed to the vehicle and may not be adjusted or capable of being flipped up. No device for or method of concealing or obscuring the legibility of the license tag of a motorcycle shall be installed or used.” This is currently waiting for the Governor signature and when he signs it will take effect immediately. The” First Responders Bill” that “A county may not impose a fee or seek reimbursement for any costs or expenses that may be incurred for services provided by a first responder, including costs or expenses related to personnel, supplies, motor vehicles, or equipment in response to a motor vehicle accident, except for costs to contain or clean up hazardous materials in quantities reportable to the Florida State Warning Point at the Division of Emergency Management, and costs for transportation and treatment provided by ambulance services licensed pursuant to ss. 401.23(4) and 401.23(5).” The “Stiffer Penalties Bill” flew through the House without a glitch, unfortunately, the Senate’s Criminal and Civil Justice Appropriations committee indefinitely postponed and withdrew the Bill from consideration. We do have a strong hope for next year to get this passed. Remember to check out your local chapter thru out the month for what they have going on, you can always go to www.abateflorida.com and click on chapters for the one nearest you. MR. 300

Only in Florida, can we go from being in "severe drought" to enough rain to float a small ship and back to "drought" in 5 weeks time. At the time of this writing, we are finally getting some much needed rain. Lots of stuff going on around here, There is a big benefit run over at The Pastime coming up, then we have Starke Bike Fest, all in the first week of June ! Then on June 20th, the second Double Deuce Bike Show over at Dave & Busters. Between the band(s) schedules, and being visited by out of state relatives, I sure could use a couple extra days each week! I'd use one of those days to try and find that motorcycle I know I have somewhere in the garage. Don't forget to stop in at CrossCreek Steakhouse on Lem Turner on Saturday's for their Bike Night. One of these days I am gonna get there, really, I am. And please, patronize the places you see advertising in Full Throttle, it's because of them, that you get this magazine for free. Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day. Until next time, RIDE LOUD & RIDE SAFE

On May 16th. in beautiful St. Augustine, FL. Americas premier Concours d'Elegance was staged with 350-400 motorcycles entered and arranged around the Walk of Champions at the World Golf Village. It was a sight to behold. There are four main trophy's presented and I won the coveted Preservation Award for my 1946 Moto Guzzi Superalce. I would like to thank John Duss and Dennis Gage (one of the Grand Marshalls along with Craig Vetter) for a great conversation at the Renaissance Hotel bar after the awards. The knowledge of vintage bikes you both have is amazing. Watch for my July Classic Bike Ramblings for a full story. Robert DeMoss

I thought May was going to be the best time to ride. Not to hot, cool breeze, but I was way off! If you live in Daytona, you know what I mean! The only good riding was if ya had a boat to get out of your house. I know we needed rain but I don’t think getting it all in 4 days was what we were thinking. I hope everyone got by without to much damage. As for me, I’m still above ground and I guess that means the good Lord has more for me to do. I hope to see lots of you on the Sore Ass Run this year. This one should be off the chain. Our friends at the Grand Seas are a great place to party and make some great food. Don’t forget the live band at the pool deck so bring your swim suits. I’d like to thank my friends and family for there support with all my medical problems. I think now that the doc has my heart ticking good, I hope to be able to get out to more events. If you think you might like to do some work with Full Throttle give me a call cuz I ain’t getting’ any younger and I would love to have the help selling ads and doing more stories in this area so call or e-mail 386-299-9364 or tbrown37@cfl.rr.com Till Next Time RIDE SOBER & SAFE
