The Internet’s Role in the Enhancement and Success of PRM This document is about Partner Channel or Partner Relationship Management (PRM) software and how the internet contributes to its success and also the other factors affecting it.

Partners dominate indirect channels thus giving them a vital role in all organizations, for they determine and influence business outcomes especially with the current economic climate. Their significance is emphasized as more and more businesses look to Partner Relationship Management (PRM) to improve their productivity and performance. Also known as resellers, they represent

companies to end consumers or customers. In a way, they are “immediate customers for they are not internal or external in a company. They act as resources that organizations must work well with in order to successfully operate and achieve goals and objectives for both the financial and strategic aspects.

The relationship these partners establish with customers is truly valuable. Through their relationships with end consumers, companies are able to gain access to local culture, market dynamics and many other factors that critically affect the results of operation.

Enterprises continue to rely on their indirect sales channels to reach out to certain markets. This is why using partner portals has been a compelling new trend because this strategy is focused on the creation of longterm competitive differentiation with pipelines. It seems this tool is truly a success and would enjoy longevity in the world of business and sales, but this strategy made use of a very important weapon that allowed it to gain the strong foothold it is enjoying today.

Partner Channel or Partner Relationship Management is a relatively old marketing strategy. It did not take off in the past because it was difficult to reach

out to channels because of the lack of effective tools and technology, such as the internet and specific software. But the rise of the internet allowed Partner Relationship Management to thrive and flourish because it became the entry point for partners into the world of convenient collaboration and communication, both of which are essential in the strategy’s foundation.

In today’s business world, eCommerce is a priority for all major organizations, and understandably so because the internet is truly an efficient way to conduct marketing and sales of products and goods. It is but logical for PRM adopters to allow these two innovations to work hand in hand because the objective of one is supported by the other.

There are now a wide variety of web-based applications that focus on the effective management of pipelines. A good example would be portals online. These portals act as a bridge that connects the manufacturer with business partners. This is where they are able to share pertinent information regarding products, sales leads, contacts, programs, trainings and so on. There is increased transparency in dealings and performance which allows managers to determine which clouds deserve more attention and support. Basically speaking,

the internet enhances the efficacy of the implementation of Partner Relationship Management.

Partner Channel has always been a good strategy development from the start. It is difficult to argue that the proper management and support of channel can lead to increased productivity and maximized revenue. It can be safely said however that the internet gave it the boost necessary to propel it to the top of the list of priorities for the modern businesses of today.
