After walking through some assumptions and associated risks for global growth, considerations for investors in their portfolio positioning in order to capitalize on the positives and hedge the negatives will be discussed.

SESSIONS SURE TO FINE-TUNE YOUR BUSINESS ENGINE!

11:10 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. GENERAL SESSION Crucial Conversations Patrice McGuire, Senior Consultant & Master Trainer, Michael Quinlan, Inc. When it comes to crucial conversations, we have three choices: (1) we have the conversation and it goes well; (2) we attempt the conversation and it doesn’t go well; or (3) we avoid the conversation and hope that the problem just goes away. Did you know 70% of the population avoids the conversation? What are the consequences in your organization when crucial conversations are not taking place? This session will provide tools to help you handle crucial conversations more productively, and results and relationships can be impacted in a more positive manner.

12:10 – 1 p.m. Networking Lunch

Cloud Document Management 101 Will Fleenor, Ph.D., CPA, Shareholder, K2 Enterprises The objective remains the same: safe, reliable document storage with all information accurately indexed and easily accessible. However, the introduction of managing documents in the cloud has brought to the table a new ballgame with new rules. As with anything new, there are questions that need to be answered prior to moving forward. Before committing to the cloud, the key questions you should be asking are: • What are the issues? • What differentiates alternatives? • What do I need to know about security? • What are the applicable laws and regulations? Attend this session to get the answers to these questions and more, including a discussion on possible long-term management issues that may arise down the road.

The Power of the Behavior-Based Interview! 1 – 2 p.m. CONCURRENT SESSIONS WorkCompforLife David Lancaster, CEBS, CLU, Vice President, Benefits Practice, Paul Lessila, CPA, Account Executive, R&R Insurance Services, Inc. Dubbed “WorkCompforLife,” this presentation will cover three combined topics, including health care reform, the impact on wellness and work comp strategies as they relate to federal changes.

Carver Smith, CPA, Partner, Baker Tilly Search & Staffing, LLC Most professionals conduct interviews, but few have ever been trained in how to do it! In this introductory session, learn the fundamentals of behavior-based interviewing and how they can help you be a more confident interviewer – whether it’s with a possible new hire or an internal or external client.

2 – 2:20 p.m. Networking & Meet Sponsors

AICPA’s Financial Reporting Framework for Small & Medium-Sized Entities (FRF for SMEs) Karen Kerber, CPA, CITP, CGMA, Shareholder, KerberRose SC The accounting world is becoming more complex with new rules developed for publicly held companies. These new rules put a time-consuming and costly burden on private companies. However, a new accounting framework is now available for Main Street businesses that do not need GAAP-based reporting. This presentation will cover the specifics of the AICPA’s FRF for SMEs, including why it was developed, who it is for, and what its key principles and accounting requirements are. In addition, the session will address the benefits of the new framework and the many tools that are available to help implement the FRF for SMEs.
