About this match programme

This match programme heralded an historic game for York City as it was the first time the club had hosted a Football League club in a competitive game. Third division Barrow came to play York in this FA Cup tie, attracting a crowd of 6,957 and earning £352 in gate receipts. Barrow were fortunate to scrape a 1-0 victory. For York City, this was to be the club’s last appearance in the FA Cup as a non-league club until 2004. At the end of the 1928-29 season, on June 3, 1929, City were elected to the Football League, taking the place of Ashington.
