About this match programme

York City historian Paul Bowser wrote in his book Bootham Crescent: A Second Home that "it is reasonable to assume that no programmes were produced during the club's first Midland League season" as "producing a programme would have been a long way down any to-do list of priorities," While Bowser’s comments relate to the production of programmes for home matches, the club did feature in this match programme produced by Worksop Town on November 4, 1922. The 16-page publication explained that York City could not join the FA Cup that year because of uncertainties about their ground, which was at Fulford. (An alternative explanation is that the club was formed too late to enter the competition for 1922-23). City lost this match to Worksop 1-0.
