THE HISTORY OF PELLEPELLE

Marc Buchanan is the founder and designer of PellePelle. From its inception in Detroit in 1978, PellePelle centered around incredibly detailed borderline outrageous leathers, combining unconventional colors and over-the-top accents. ”Every jacket is like a piece of art”, explains Buchanan. “Our stuff is not for the faint of heart.”

Buchanans unique leather creations quickly earned the affection of the young style-conscious urban customer, a yet undiscovered market for much of the mainstream apparel industry. ”The urban customer provided a lot of excitement in the marketplace”, says Buchanan. “PellePelle and other young urban brands”, he continues, ”addressed a marketplace that had never been addressed before.”

In fact the leathers become so well recognized that, in the early 90s, Buchanan expanded the label into sportswear becoming one of the 21st Centurys leading young men’s lifestyle brands

In 2002, Too Shy became the official PellePelle distributor for the whole of Scandinavia, including Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland, back then with the brand being handled by a German licensee.

10 years later, in 2012, Too Shy themselves took over the European license for PellePelle, designing and producing the collection the “Copenhagen” way. Now, 1 1/2 years years later, PellePelle is again being sold in more than a dozen European countries and continues to grow and increase its network steadily.

Today PellePelle designs a big collection, containing everything from sublime Denims and Woven Pants to Knitwear, from intricate Outerwear to Headwear and Accessories, providing a wide range of up-to-date styles catering to customers new and old.

The brand still aims to make high quality goods for urban-minded, fashion-conscious men, with all efforts and focus on providing outstanding design as well as distinguished quality.

It will take less than 50% the amount of water to grow hemp than to grow the same amount of cotton, and with drinking water becoming more and more valuable all over the globe, efficiency is what it’s all about. Hemp will also produce about 225% more fibres from the same amount of plants than cotton.

2. No artificial pesticides are required to grow hemp, in contrast to cotton using up 25% of the world’s consumption of artificial pesticides.
