The Strategic Fuel Fund Association (SFF) maintains, monitors and manages the country’s strategic energy feed stock and carriers to ensure security of supply We aim to be the guarantor of strategic fuels through innovative and pioneering solutions that benefit South Africa

SFF is dedicated to driving sustainability by operating efficiently, fostering strategic partnerships to explore new opportun ities, and empowering a dynamic, responsible workforce committed to excellence and compliance.

SFF is committed to positively impacting disadvantaged communities, integrating this mission into its core business strategy through focused and progressive CSI programs. Education, particularly in Math and Science, is a cornerstone of SFF's CSI efforts, a ddressing the critical role these subjects play in South Africa's socio -economic development. Recognizing the pivotal role education plays in South Africa's development, SFF provides supplementary assistance to schools and NPOs that promote these vital subjects.

One of the areas that SFF operates in and hopes to ignite the passion for Math and Science, is the Saldanha Bay area on the West Coast. For generations, the local community's economy has been predominantly driven by agriculture and maritime activities and as a result, Math and Science were often undervalued. By collaborating with disadvantaged schools and NPOs, SFF provides supplementary support to promote these critical subjects. This effort not only enhances educational outcomes but also empowers communit ies to embrace math and science as catalysts for socio-economic transformation.

Through strategic partnerships with historically disadvantaged schools and like -minded NPOs, SFF CSI seeks to ignite a nationwide movement, promoting Math literacy and Science as a catalyst for socio-economic transformation.

Our internship programme offers graduates hands -on corporate training in a variety of fields with the aim of preparing them for their chosen career in the working world.

We, at the SFF, have the ability to make a real difference, not only through our talents but also our attitudes. As such, we look for graduates with the right attitude and skills.

SFF is working towards a one-team culture driven by our values. We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and are committed to the Principles of Employment Equity.

SWEAT THE GOOD STUFF

The Eskom Women Advancement Program (EWAP)

Established in 2013, EWAP, an integrated approach aimed at breaking the mould that is based on perceptions that women and men hold, that perpetuates patriarchy in the workplace and leads to the under representation of women in key decision-making roles as well as the technical space. The EWAP strategy focused on addressing the issues that hinder women in advancing into critical leadership and technical positions at Eskom.

Through Eskom, EWAP is a signatory of the UN Women and EWAP has five strategic pillars that are all aligned to the thematic areas of the free stem fund

1: Women in Leadership (WIL)

Advancement of Women into Management

Addressing the income gap to ensure equal pay for work of equal value

In 2017, EWAP developed 40 women into leadership positions under the leadership Accelerator Program and reduced the gender pay disparities from above 20% to 6% in 2022

Women in Technical Roles (WIT)

EWAP implemented the procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for women who work on site (overalls and safety shoes design & sizing)

In 2021 EWAP also conducted consultative workshops to gather needs assessment for women in technical roles and STEM

4: Creating a Conducive Environment

EWAP established the Eskom Gender Office which is a safe space for women to report GBV it is also where advocacy for the non-binary members /genders

After the 2017 fatality of a women at work due to GBV, EWAP developed MySistersKeeper pledge in 2017 under the UN Women’s HeForShe initiative for all men in the organization

EWAP is looking to implement a lactation facility and will develop a post partum integration policy for new mothers returning to work from maternity leave

3: Women in Nuclear (WIN)

EWAP launched the NuclearTop100 training programme: 40% of those selected consisted of female recruits

5: Strategic Partnerships (SP)

The holding company ESKOM is undergoing financial constraints as such all the above mentioned projects would not have been successful without strategic partnerships for financial backing.
