Welcome
FROM HARVIE RANCHING
On the Hereford side, we are excited to profile the first sire groups of Bourbon 126H, Steward 98G and Fresh Prince 018 ET sons on offer in Canada. The Charolais herd sires are highlighted by Tried & True and Laredo again this year, and new sires, Headmaster and Horizon.
Welcome to the Harvie Ranching 14th Annual Bull Sale. We are pleased to present a strong offering of Hereford and Charolais bulls for your consideration. The bulls are a representation of the predictable cow families we’ve been building upon for many years. We continue to put an emphasis on enhancing quality genetics utilizing industry leading herd sires. Customer feedback provides key information for ongoing breeding improvements and the Herdtrax system is a fantastic tracking tool that enables constant evaluation of performance and herd health.
Over coffee we often chat about what sets our program apart and how we can continuously deliver the best bulls suited to our customer needs. We feel certain that our Charolais herd advantage is a strong consistent base of females whom continue to prove themselves. These cow families run deep, and we rarely sell females, as a result, we find ourselves with predictable offspring from generations of hard working matriarchs and their daughters. As for the Herefords, we continue to retain key cow families with a considerable amount of embryo transfer to expedite the production of top quality matings.
Since last year’s bull sale, we’ve enjoyed delivering bulls, participating in brandings and connecting with friends at events. In the fall, Cole traveled to Chihuahua, Mexico to judge the National Angus show. Upon his return, we exhibited 10 head including the Champion Female at Alberta Hereford Showcase. Tinley & Lyla won Champion and Reserve Champion Females in the Junior Show and both won their showmanship divisions as well. Mid November we held an online Hereford Female and genetics sale which was a success. The next week, we ventured to Regina with a Hereford string to Canadian Western Agribition and brought home the Premier Exhibitor award, Reserve Champion Female and a few division Champions as well. In December, Jill received Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee for her Agriculture advocacy efforts from the Alberta Agriculture Minister Nate Horner. The year was filled with kids activities involving horses and cows which to us, is enjoyable and rewarding.
This year’s bull sale allows for us all to reunite and enjoy warm hospitality at our bull facility. We welcome you to join us for a tour of the bulls in advance of sale day if you wish, the coffee is always on. On sale day, please join us for a tasty homemade meal, refreshments and a great set of bulls for purchase.
Sincerely,
Cole, Jill, Tinley and Lyla HarvieEPDs Please note that EPDs may change from the time the catalogue is printed and registration papers are transferred. EPDs were taken on Jan. 10, 2023 (Hereford) and Jan. 23, 2023 (Charolais). EPDs are not comparable between breeds.
Sight Unseen Purchases 100% satisfaction is guaranteed when using this program. If the animal is not as described to you by Cole or Jill on the phone prior to purchasing, you don’t own him — no questions asked!
Harvie Ranching Bull Sale Warranty The Harvie Ranching bull sale guarantees to sell you a bull that has passed a semen test performed by a licensed veterinarian. Should you have a problem, we have spare bulls available. We guarantee to provide you with a sound breeding bull, but will not provide replacement or credit for physical injury or mismanagement. Bearing this in mind, we strongly advise you to insure your bull. All problems must be reported to the Harvie Ranching Bull Sale in writing. The bull must be returned to bull sale
location immediately when the problem is detected, at the buyer’s expense. Should the bull prove to be a breeder, he will be returned to the buyer at the consignor (or Harvie Ranching’s) expense, and the matter will be considered closed. In the case of losses, the Harvie Ranching Bull Sale will only be responsible for the original purchase price of the animal. We assume no liability, legal or otherwise, to make any compensation to the buyer.

Ken & Kerri Hinsburg, MB last year in the Alberta Select Female sale. Like we said in our welcome, we rarely sell females, so it was hard to part with Brenda 22J but she is doing great in Manitoba.
Harvie Head to Head 107K is an exciting Ms Hilda 35F son who is feature attraction in the sale. His powerful presence, pedigree and balanced EPD’s checks all the boxes. We appreciate how he is loose hided with extra rib shape and dimension in his front end. We predict a big future for Head to Head 107K! We are stacking two heavy hitting cow families from Harvie Ranching in this pedigree, Ms Polly 33C (pictured below) and Harvie Ms Hilda 35F. We do believe that Head to Head has all the makings of a breed leading herd sire. He’s worth the trip to Olds, Alberta.

LOT 41 On Demand 1K in a long bodied, stout made Hilda 74Z son. Hilda 74Z and her daughters have been in our donor program for many years due to their fertility and ability to connect with whatever sire they are mated to. Headmaster offspring are heavy haired, well put together and growthy. This is an exciting opportunity to tap into the Polly 33C cow family on the top of the pedigree and directly to Hilda 74Z on the bottom. We wanted to start the sale off with 1K knowing that he is loaded with opportunities to bring two prominent cow families together.
LOT 42 Harvie Master Plan 73K is a Harvie Henrietta 161C son of an 8 year old cow that continues to repeat her performance year after year. This tan bull is a long bodied, wide topped power bull. His picture really doesn’t do him justice. Have a look at his video and even better come have a look at him in person.
