Nei lontani anni ’50 Giulio Carlo Argan sosteneva che il design sarebbe divenuto “l’arte popolare” del XXI secolo. Letta da molti e per molto tempo come un’affermazione utopistica, questa profezia è diventata realtà nel catalogo driadestore. “Arte” ovvero un insieme di oggetti sofisticati, unici per concezione e disegno, ma “popolare” ovvero disponibile per tutti grazie all’utilizzo delle tecnologie più contemporanee e ad uno straordinario sforzo di ingegnerizzazione. Realizzati utilizzando materie plastiche, ecologiche e riciclabili o, in generale, materiali “produttivamente corretti”, i pezzi driadestore sono destinati a portare la poesia a molti. La casa driadestore è quindi qualcosa di più di una casa, forse un giardino ovvero la somma di differenti essenze, di differenti cromie che si miscelano in un ordine mille volte variato, ma sempre poetico. E’ una casa aperta su un orizzonte più vasto: in essa sedie e tavoli transitano, con garbo e leggerezza, dagli spazi interni a quelli esterni. Sanno essere fiori tra i fiori, natura nella natura, ma sanno anche innestare il loro raro profumo tra quattro mura, illuminando la quotidianità di freschezza. Per questo la casa driadestore è una “casa all’italiana”. Nell’antica casa all’italiana non vi è grande distinzione fra interno ed esterno l’architettura di fuori penetra dentro. E dall’interno riesce all’aperto con i suoi portici e le sue terrazze, con le pergole e le verande, con le logge ed i balconi, e con i suoi mobili che, dalla monotonia del quotidiano, sanno guardare oltre. La casa driadestore rifiuta ogni principio di uniformità stilistica per proporre non un racconto già scritto, ma le parole di un racconto che ognuno di noi intreccerà in modo diverso.
Back in the ’50s Giulio Carlo Argan claimed that design would become the “popular art” of the 21st century. Interpreted by many for a long time as a utopian statement, this prophecy has become reality in the driadestore catalogue. “Art”, or rather a combination of sophisticated objects with unique conception and design, but also “popular”, or rather made available to all thanks to the use of up-to-the-minute technologies and extraordinary engineering skills. Made with plastic, ecological and recyclable materials or, in general, “productively correct” materials, driadestore pieces are intended to bring poetry to many. The driadestore house is therefore something more than a house, perhaps a garden with the sum of different essences and colours that are mixed in a highly variable but poetically charged order. The driadestore house is open to broader horizons: in it, tables and chairs move with grace and lightness between interior and exterior spaces. They can be flowers among flowers, nature in nature, but they can also leave their precious scent between four walls, illuminating day-to-day life with freshness. This is why the driadestore house is an “Italian-style house”. In the traditional Italian house there is little distinction between interior and exterior the outside architecture penetrates inside. And from inside it goes back outside with its porticos and terraces, its pergolas and verandas, its loggias and balconies, and with its furnishings that can look beyond the monotony of the everyday. The driadestore house rejects any principle of stylistic uniformity; it does not propose a story that has already been written, but the words of a story that everyone will weave together in different ways.
