It’s of no surprise that the volume of EV vehicles on the road is growing on a daily basis, this trend is set for rapid growth over the next few years. This rapid growth in the EV market brings with it new challenges and opportunities for modern workshops, where traditional servicing is no longer required.

WHEEL ALIGNMENT TYRE REPLACEMENT

As outlined above, EV tyres have undergone some major developments to increase performance and safety to handle the demands of an EV vehicle. With increased weights,

vehicles require specialist tyres to cope with the additional weight, instant torque and

range performance of EV vehicles currently on the road. EV Tyres are designed to improved aerodynamics, have special compounds to reduce resistance and improve grip to cope with the instant torque output by the EV motors to avoid wheel spin, and to reduce longer braking distances associated with heavier vehicles. All the above means that by the nature of design, EV tyres are more likely to require regular replacement, and will require the right type of tyre equipment to handle the increased strength and construction in the new tyre technology. TRAINING AVAILABLE

ADAS (Advanced Drive-Assistance System) have been around on vehicles for many years, in various forms. Most modern

vehicles now have some level of ADAS built into them for safety. As we move closer to driverless autonomy, EV vehicles are at the forefront of that development. EV vehicles already on the road now, have numerous ADAS systems fitted to monitor every aspect of the road ahead, behind and to the side of the vehicle, keeping the occupants, other road users and pedestrians safe. These safety critical systems require calibration. Whether the camera or radar systems have been disturbed (ie removing a bumper, replacing a screen), or the geometry of the vehicle has been altered (ie replacing steering and suspension components, carrying out wheel alignment adjustments) Workshop Pro have a range of options for ADAS calibration to fit your needs.

MOT

Like any traditional vehicle, EV vehicles still require an annual MOT test to be carried out to ensure that the vehicle remains safe and roadworthy. Carrying out MOTs will ensure that repair opportunities are highlighted on EV vehicles where traditional servicing isn’t available.
