Further inland in Sippy Downs, lies the development of a business and technology precinct with the aim to diversify the local economy beyond tourism, retail and construction. The new precinct lies next to the University of the Sunshine Coast.

In order to decrease pressure on traffic systems, plans are also underway to revamp transport links within the Sunshine Coast area.
