Christchurch – Greymouth – Christchurch One of the finest rail trips in the world. Linking Christchurch and Greymouth, the TranzAlpine runs from coast to coast – from Pacific Ocean to Tasman Sea, crossing the huge and fertile Canterbury Plains, the stunning Waimakariri River, the massive and impressive Southern Alps as well as passing the shores of tranquil Lake Brunner, before arriving at Greymouth.

Christchurch – Picton – Christchurch The Coastal Pacific train travels between Christchurch and the port of Picton. This journey is a scenic feast with the Kaikoura mountain ranges on one side of your train and the rugged Pacific Ocean coastline on the other. The Coastal Pacific operates an extended summer season, with services running daily from October to April. The train also connects with the Interislander Ferry and Sounds Air scenic flights.

Take a short boat ride to visit one of NZ’s most restricted wildlife sanctuaries. Experience the majesty of Milford Sound by sea kayak on this full day excursion from either Milford Sound or Te Anau. Spend 4–5 hours in the sea kayaks exploring the sheer beauty of the fiord.
