"Living Lessons" in France From the culture of contemporary Paris to the extraordinary history of Normandy, the heritage of the Somme, and the vibrancy of modern France, it's impossible to overestimate the significance of French heritage, culture and language to 21st century Australian students. Whether your tour is aimed at assisting language students to improve the skills learned in class by negotiating their way through a busy Paris railway station, increasing art students appreciation at the Louvre or Musée d'Orsay, invigorating commerce students in La Defense or bringing the ancient world alive for history students on the streets of Nimes or Arles, the importance of your group's "Living Lesson" in France cannot be over-stated. To Australian students, France represents the ultimate classroom where they will benefit from real-world experience and engage with education that is much more than just the acquisition of knowledge. At G·E·T Educational Tours we recognise that improving young people’s understanding, skills, values and personal development can significantly enhance learning and achievement. Educational tours are without doubt amongst the most memorable learning experiences. They help us to make sense of the world around us by establishing the link between feelings and learning. They stay with us far beyond school years and affect our behaviour, lifestyle and work. They influence our values and the decisions we make. They allow us to transfer learning experienced outside to the classroom and vice versa.

G•E•T Educational Tours proudly supports The Smith Family "Learning for Life" program The Smith Family is a national, independent, social enterprise that supports disadvantaged Australian children to create a better future through education.

G·E·T Educational Tours "Living Lessons" are about raising achievement through an organised, powerful approach to learning in which direct experience is of prime importance. "Living Lessons" are not only about what we learn, but importantly how and where we learn.

As holders of the French government’s prestigious ‘Qualité FLE’ label, this friendly school in the heart of Rouen, capital of the beautiful and historic region of Normandy on the River Seine and just 1 hour west of Paris - has been helping students learn French through first rate teaching in a warm and friendly study environment since 1992. Morning classes are based on communicative French and structural progression with afternoon workshops. Resources include computers with free internet access, library and audio visual materials. Rouen, once one of the largest and most prosperous cities of medieval Europe, was one of the capitals of the Anglo-Norman dynasties, which ruled both England and large parts of modern France from the 11th to the 15th centuries. It was in Rouen where Joan of Arc was burnt in 1431. Today it’s a beautiful university town offering unique medieval architecture, fantastic shopping and lively social life, famous for its links with art and literature and the gourmet capital of Normandy. Visits from Rouen can include Mont St. Michel, Monet's garden at Giverny and Normandy Landing Beaches. Tours: Institut de Touraine Institut de Touraine in Tours, the largest town in the Loire Valley, has been teaching French language and culture to generations of young students and French teachers for nearly a century. This tradition of total immersion in French society accelerates the learning process under the academic supervision of Tours University with its long-standing experience of teaching French as a foreign language. The structure of the curricula and the learning methods aim to foster the development of core skills based on the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference. Students are tested on their first day and continuously assessed by one of the 20 full-time teachers on their oral and written skills. The Institut de Touraine also works on numerous educational projects and didactic training courses for teachers of French with several having participated in the creation of language methods. Resources available to students include a library, audiovisual material and a computer-assisted teaching laboratory allowing students to improve their knowledge, revise certain points or simply relax while using their French. Institut de Touraine was one of the first French language schools awarded the FLE quality label by the French Education and Foreign Affairs ministries. The Loire Valley, listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, offers visitors an exceptional environment: protected nature, wild and peaceful rivers, unique historical and architectural heritage, vineyards and forests. From the Middle Ages, Val de Loire was the favourite region of the Kings of France. They built châteaux for pleasure along the Loire River including Azay-le-Rideau, Chambord, Cheverny, Amboise and Chenonceau. Fortified towns in the area recall the years of wars between Anjou and the Kingdom of France. From Orléans to Angers, the Loire demarcates an exceptional area.
