Japan Study Tour eDiary G•E•T Educational Tours Japan Tour Study eDiary assists teachers to engage students in their tour with useful information on attractions, the basics of travelling in Japan and details of rich language and culturally based activities. The diary encourages students to create a unique record of their trip. Useful sections include `to take’ lists, homestay hints and a pro-forma thank-you letter to host families. Teachers may use the eDiary to link tour outcomes to KLA requirements. JAPAN HOMESTAY & LANGUAGE OPTIONS G.E.T Educational Tours Japan Homestay program offers students a special insight into Japanese society through an intensive cross-cultural experience of daily life, customs and values. Participants are received as a member of the family and are involved in their host's daily activities assuming all responsibilities and privileges. Typical group homestays range from 2 to 4 days with individuals staying up to 4 weeks. Note, participants may not work or attend school except for our language courses or organized school visits. Minimum age for students travelling in a group is 14 years and 18 years for individual travellers.
G·E·T Educational Tours Hiroshima Intensive Language and Cultural Immersion is an academic 15 hour communication course, incorporating hands-on cultural activities with language practice, according to the student’s ability levels. Teachers in Australia are asked prior to the tour to nominate the language level of the students and have the opportunity to provide input into the content of the classes.
Hiroshima Intensive Language and Cultural Immersion
(Hiroshima International Co-operation Centre in conjunction with Hiroshima Prefecture). Designed for senior secondary students, this intensive language and cultural immersion at Higashi Hiroshima offers formal language tuition led by native Japanese teachers aimed at accelerating participants conversational Japanese skills. Lesson plans can be tailored to your specific group. Students simultaneously enjoy a hands-on experience of Japanese culture through partcipating in a number of different activities. The activities available include a tea ceremony, illustrated post card making (etegami), a calligraphy lesson, Katazome dyeing, Japanese paper doll making (washi ningyo), yukata wearing, flower arranging and origami.

OPTIONS
How do we use a Japan Rail Pass? JR Passes are only available in exchange for a voucher that must be pre-purchased from G•E•T Educational Tours before departure. You will need to provide a copy of each person’s passport (name in the passport and on the voucher must be exactly the same) to a midori-no-madoguchi booking office at any JR station and at the airport on arrival. JR passes are valid for any JR service, including the Shinkansen Bullet train (but not for the Nozomi super express). Should we stay in a ryokan? Ryokans offer students an authentic Japanese experience. Whilst some ryokans are expensive, our experienced educational tour consultants have identified cost effective ryokans - some with en-suite bathrooms. Is Japan expensive? If you shop wisely, it doesn’t have to be. There are "100 Yen" shops all over Japan that stock a vast array of goods including souvenirs and everyday items. Where should we eat out? For lunch, convenience stores feature a range of fresh sandwiches, salads and obento lunchboxes for under $8.00. They will even heat your lunchbox and provide boiling water for 2 minute noodles! For dinner, try an authentic noodle or sushi bar. There are always good value places to eat in the vicinity of rail stations, designed for businessmen to grab a quick dinner before the long commute home and perfect for students. I have never taken a group to Japan before. Will I be okay? The experienced staff at G•E•T Educational Tours have been helping teachers like you take groups to Japan for over 20 years. There are many former teachers in the office who understand exactly what your needs are. We can provide you with ideas for your itinerary, maps for all the places that you will visit and offer suggestions on how best to engage students in their experience. Is it more expensive to use a travel agent? Can’t I just book it myself? Due to our buying power with our suppliers, G•E•T Educational Tours can negotiate the best prices possible. I am not confident that my kanji is good enough to find my away around. When Japan hosted the World Cup soccer in 2002, signs in popular tourist destinations were changed to have romaji readings (additionally, in the teacher’s section of the Japan Tour Study guide, there is a glossary of commonly used kanji). Narita Airport is so far from Tokyo. How will I find my way there? There are a number of options for you, from the Narita Express train, private coach transfer or Limousine Bus service. We can organise any of the above for you. I want my students to do homestay but we haven’t got a sister school. G•E•T Educational Tours have contacts all over Japan. We can organise a homestay in various places across Japan, mostly in traditional rural locations.

Pre-payable charges including Australian Departure Tax, airport charges, insurance levies and fuel surcharges are included in the total package price. There may also be additional foreign taxes. The tour price does not include the cost of travelling to or from departure and arrival ports, passport and re-entry fees, visa fees, travel insurance, personal expenses and excess baggage charges. Deposits & Payments A non refundable deposit is payable to confirm your reservation with full payment required 65 days prior to departure. Bookings may be automatically cancelled if payment is not received. Changes & Amendments If you change your booking 3 months prior to departure we will charge a $110 amendment fee for each change plus any additional prepayable taxes, levies or charges. Requests for an individual to travel outside the group’s designated dates will incur an additional charge of $110 per person plus any charges that our suppliers may make. As prices are indicative only, details of particular tours or hotels in our brochures may have changed since publication date. Cancellations & Refunds A cancellation fee equal to the deposit paid, will apply until 65 days prior to departure. Bookings cancelled within 65 days of departure will be charged a fee equal to 100% of the land content price. • •

Passport & Visa Requirements Your passport and visas are not our responsibility and we are not liable for any loss or expenses caused by your failure to comply with these requirements. Flight reservations cannot be made without passenger names. You must, at the time of booking, advise the correct names of all passengers including students and escorts. It is vital that these conform exactly to the name in each passenger’s passport. Name changes after tickets have been issued will result in the issue of new tickets and vouchers and incur amendment charges and may require a higher airfare to be paid. G•E•T Educational Tours can accept no responsibility for any additional charges, or inability to travel as a result of incorrect notification of passenger names.
Airlines, ground handling companies, hotels, hostels, homestay accommodation operators, restaurants and tour operators may impose additional cancellation fees within 65 days of departure. Airline discount booking classes are subject to cancellation fees at any time following confirmation.
We will not refund any unused part of your itinerary including accommodation, transfers, tours, and airfares. Airline refunds following cancellation will be made when the airline completes the refund transaction (this may be in excess of 60 days). The price of your tour is not guaranteed until full payment has been received. Travel Insurance It is a condition of travelling on our international tours that students and escorts are fully covered by comprehensive travel insurance.
