Garden Golf Club Avignon Designed by Géry Watine and Thierry Sprecher, this gently-curved course is interspersed with 30 bunkers protecting the little greens, some of which are perched on hillocks. Watch out for the 6th, 14th and 15th holes! And water, water is everywhere… 12 holes in all are adorned with lakes, reservoirs and cascading ponds, home to splashing ducks and Florida turtles. However, only the 3rd hole - a 150-metre par 3 - obliges you to cross it to reach the green, perched on a little peninsula masked by vegetation… A delicious course, of reasonable length for a par 72. Sainte Victoire Golf Club The Sainte Victoire Golf Club is set against the magical backdrop of Sainte Victoire mountain - you can lap up the views from every hole - and the beautiful Château l’Arc, around which the course is built. The internationally-famed artist Bernard Buffet fell in love with this sumptuous 17th-century Provencal bastide, where he set up home and decorated the adjacent chapel. It now harbours a prestigious, four-star hotel and 2 restaurants. The layout is carved into stunning, hilly scenery and winds between pines and dry garrigue. The main difficulties are the numerous lakes - very impressive at the 8th and 18th holes - and three-tier greens. Combining an unforgettable decor with a challenging round of golf, this course is a must for confirmed players. Architect: Robert TRENT JONES II Director: Stéphane BRUGGER
