Priorities of tourism for seamless travel The development of tourism greatly depends upon the collective capacity to promote safe, secure and seamless travel. In the global scenario the challenges demand global solutions and as a solution we need to better understand the impact of technology on our sector and maximize the new opportunities it creates to improve the competitiveness of destinations, make travel safer and easier, and manage our natural resources more effectively. We need to cooperate, not isolate, Mr. Taleb Rifai, UNWTO Secretary-General called for the full integration of tourism into the national and international security agendas and alerted that “the security challenges we face today should not prompt us to build new walls” and that “enhancing security and enabling more seamless travel should always go hand-in-hand”. “Climate change mitigation, effective resource management, poverty reduction and inclusive growth need to be at the center of tourism development. We must make it clear that economic growth and sustainability is not at odds”, he added. Addressing these priorities can only be achieved through increased international cooperation and cross-cutting national tourism policies. “Tourism´s ability to effectively support the economic, social and environmental foundations of many nations has raised the need for the sector to play a bigger role in national development, particularly at the highest levels of political decision-making. Despite a slow and uneven global economic recovery, growing geopolitical challenges, health scares and security concerns, 2015 was another record year for international tourism. International tourist arrivals grew by 4.4% to reach 1.2 billion (1.184 million), meaning 50 million more tourists travelled the world in 2015 than in 2014. But the share of Foreign Tourist Arrivals in India in the International Tourist Arrivals around the world during 2015 was just 0.68%. If we can touch 1% mark within two years our total revenue from tourism will be double and overall growth will be unimaginable. Looking ahead, Tourism Industry in India along with our global partners is competent and confident, despite increased volatility and uncertainty, 2016 will bring another year of growth to our sector.

hings to keep in mind while booking travel packages Taking a break from your daily mundane schedule is always exciting and pleasurable. Planning a vacation is undoubtedly a fun task, but the arrangements, the calculations of time and money, the bookings and the pressure of finding the best deal can sometimes be a time consuming and painful task. While there is no dearth of exotic and attractive tourist locations waiting to be
explored, a number of factors have to be kept in mind before embarking on a vacation. Whether you are a solo traveler or are travelling with young friends? Is your family complete with children and the elderly accompanying you? Is it a business trip that you want to double up as a vacation? All these factors have to be taken into account while sealing your travel package. While a package deal should be affordable, it should also ensure maximum explora-
tion of the destination and comfort in terms of food and stay. However, if you have vulnerable family members like kids and elderly accompanying you, focus more on quality than quantity. Below are certain points that can help you select good travel package for your upcoming vacations: Chalk out a travel plan and specify your preferences While booking through a travel agency, many people tend to ignore the calendar May 2016 ďƒŽďƒŽ
themselves and rely on the agents for even last detail planning. However, it is important to remember that it is your vacation and you need to have a fair idea of the “Must Do’s” on a particular destination, even if an experienced travel agent is planning it for you. A ready-made package to Kerala might contain visits of equal duration to the backwaters, beaches as well as the hill stations. However, you might be an out-anout beach person desiring to spend maximum time at the beaches and restricting even avoiding other places. Your preferences therefore have to be specified clearly to the planner. For this to happen, a rough travel itinerary must be chalked out in your mind, complete with locations of preference, budget as well as number of days. It is important to have an outline of your vacation ready before checking out for travel packages, as it would help you to remain focused. Enroll yourself with multiple travelling sites With plenty of players in the market, the customer is often spoiled for choice. However, it helps to conduct a fair comparison and research before sealing a deal. Therefore, it will help you to register with 2-3 travel agencies and sites from which you can receive a slew of deals, discounts and offers in your mail. Different agencies might be providing different packages for a visit to a particular destination and you May 2016
can pick the best one from them or negotiate with the others. Popular is not always the best While dealing with travel agencies or websites, we often tend to believe that the most popular ones are automatically the best planners and service providers. However, it might not always be true. Often, travelers find more lucrative and more customized solutions from lesser known service providers who are more eager to build a good image and a loyal clientele for themselves. Book round trips Flight fares are often expensive. The fares also depend upon distance and destination. While you may choose to travel to various places on a single trip, it is advisable to book round trips. You must try and book your flights in a manner that you depart and arrive at the same airport, round trip fares are usually cheaper. Say no to extras Travel packages often tend to lure by giving you options to select additional services to make your trip more pleasurable and memorable. However, these extra offerings may unnecessarily add on to your budget. Offerings such as airport transfer, shopping assistance and likewise can be avoided if you want to save cash. Keep the deal to the basic minimal. Travel agency should be 24*7 open Be careful while choos-
ing your travel agency; chose the one which will be readily available to help any time. On vacations, travelers may often need urgent assistance to locate your hotels, revise a booking or initiate any emergency change of plan. Therefore, it is advisable to book with a travel company that offers 24 X 7 assistance. Plan your trip in time The old saying “the early bird gets the worm” is absolutely true when it comes to vacation planning. Flight fares are significantly cheaper if booked more than a month in advance, and so are hotel rates. Online Travel companies as well as Hotel chains now offer significant discounts and special offers for “Early Bird” bookings. Also, by booking late, you might miss out on the best beach view hotel in town and may have to settle with an ordinary one. In case of last minute bookings, you are left to select from the available options and also paying a higher price for the services and bookings. Check the facilities If you are on a business trip, make sure you ensure before sealing the deal that all the facilities required for making your visit comfortable and successful are in place. Whether the hotel offers wi fi, conference rooms suitable for your meetings, facilities such as fax, foreign exchange etc are crucial details which need to be preascertained. 15

ith terror and security scares against tourists filling many headlines in the past few months, the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has released a new research report quantifying for the first time the links between tourism and peace. While Travel & Tourism has often been recognized for its ability to drive peace, security, and understanding, to date, there has been little empirical evidence to support this link. The report, Tourism as a Driver for Peace, conducted with the Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP), the
world’s pre-eminent think tank measuring peace, shows how important an open and sustainable tourism sector can be for the levels of peace in a country. Countries with more open and sustainable tourism sectors* have higher levels of peace and lower levels of conflict and violence. Increases in tourism sustainability can lead to improvements in the functioning of governments. As governments respond to tourism demand and create a welcoming environment for further tourism expansion, this ultimately increases future peace, the report states. Over the last decade the
world has become increasingly unequal in terms of its levels of peacefulness, with the most peaceful countries enjoying increasing levels of peace and prosperity, while the least peaceful countries are facing greater levels of violence and conflict. This research shows that the more sustainable and open a country’s tourism sector, the less peace levels have declined. Even in conflict affected countries, all of which saw their levels of peace drop in the period between 2008 and 2015, those that had more open and sustainable tourism saw a sig-

nificantly lower drop in peace than countries with less sustainable tourism sectors. Mr. David Scowsill, President and CEO of WTTC, said: “Travel & Tourism’s economic impact is now well established and widely recognised, and governments around the world are increasingly looking to the sector to provide livelihoods and jobs, and drive economic development. However, the benefits of tourism as a force for good, its ability to bring peace, security, and understanding have been harder to quantify. I am delighted that this research now shows that Travel & Tourism does have a strong link to creating peaceful societies. In a world of increasing risk and security concerns, this research is compelling evidence of why governments should continue to focus on tourism development for the good of their people, and make policy decisions that balance the safety of their citizens with the continued facilitation of travel for business and May 2016

ndia is the birthplace of Buddhism and it has a large number of Buddhist shrines and pilgrimage centers. The most important among them are Lumbini, Bodhgaya, Sarnath and Kushinagar. Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha is located near the Nepal-India Border. Buddha was born as the son of King Suddhodana and his Queen Mayadevi of the Shakya Dynasty. Buddhist tradition says that many
people who were destined to play an important part in Buddha’s life were also born on the same day. Yashodara; his future wife, Kanthaka; his horse, Candela; the groom who helped him to leave the royal palace and the kings Bimbisara of Magadha, Prasenajit of Koshala and his protector Vajrapani. The Bodhi tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment also sprouted on the same day. Buddha was named Prince Siddhartha and
spent the first 29 years of his life in Kapilavastu. He grew up to be a wise man and mastered all fields of learning and sport and everything the world has to offer. Later the prince married Yashodhara. Although his father tried to shield him from the sorrows of the world, Buddha saw them. Once he saw a man crippled with age and another who was seriously ill. He also saw a dead body. Prince Siddhartha realized the true nature of May 2016
life and it was then he saw a monk and recognized the path to Salvation (Nirvana). Seven days before his coronation, a son, Rahula, was born to him. Siddhartha told his father about the decision to renounce the world and lead a spiritual life to discover the way to true happiness. Siddhartha’s father was not ready to let his son go. He left Kapilavastu riding the Horse Kanthaka and accompanied by Chandaka. After covering some distance, he cut off his hair and donned the robes of an ascetic. He also sent back his horse Kanthaka and all his jewels and other worldly trappings. Many years later, Buddha visited Kapilavastu again as per his father’s invitation. Kapilavasthu did not last
long. It was destroyed by King Vaidraka during Buddha’s lifetime itself. Soon the area became a jungle. When Chinese pilgrims visited the area a few centuries ago they found nothing but ruins and some monks living amongst them. But the sites of all important events were marked by Stupas. Only Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha has been identified for sure. Kapilavastu has been located tentatively. The other ruins are still being studied and explored the remains of Ashoka’s pillar can be seen. There is a shrine dedicated to Queen Mayadevi. The site has a Nepalese Buddhist temple built in 195 and a Tibetan monastery of the Sakya order which was established in 1975. There are many monks
studying Buddhism here who preserve their traditions, thereby keeping Lumbini a stronghold of Buddhism. Bodhgaya Bodhgaya in Bihar is the place where Buddha attained enlightenment while meditating under a Bodhi (peepal) tree. The Bodhi tree present here is a descendant of the original. The original Bodhi tree was destroyed deliberately at least on three occasions. Emperor Ashoka who was initially hostile to Buddhism, ordered it to be cut down and burnt, but the tree sprang up from flames and Ashoka deeply regretted his decision. The emperor showed so much care and attention to revive the tree and built a wall around it. Earlier King Prasenajit of

Khosala had built a wall during the Buddha’s lifetime. In due course, Nagarjuna built a structure around the tree to protect the tree from elephants and when it became ineffective placed a statue of Makhala on the pillars. The accounts of Hsuan Chwang stat that in sixth century, a Saivite King of Bengal named Shasanka destroyed the tree. But he could not destroy it completely. It was revived by Purvavarma of Magadha
who poured the milk of a thousand cows on it. It sprouted and 10 grew 10 feet in a single night. The tree was destroyed naturally several times but it regenerates itself and it is almost sure that the direct lineage has continued. General Cunningham says that the old tree fell during a storm in 1876 but young sapling were growing inside already. The origins of the Mahabodhi Temple here is unknown. Some traditions say that Ashoka constructed a diamond throne shrine which consisted of a roof four pillars and a stone image of Vajrasana. Legends also say that the builders were Brahmin acting on the orders of Lord Shiva. Alter nearly 60 years of litigation the Mahabodhi temple was granted to the Buddhist by court. The temple has regained some of its gold glory with reintroduction of gilded images and extensive repairs. Now Bodhgaya is attracting lots of pilgrims and many masters come here to turn the wheel of dharma. The Kalachankara empowerment given by his holiness, The Dalai Lama in 1971 was attended by one lakh devotees. The Tibetan monastery here
offers meditation courses to the Buddhist community worldwide.
Sarnath Sarnath in utterpradesh is the place where Buddha delivered his first discourse. Today the actual spot where Buddha gave his discourse and the other ruins are located inside a park. There is a museum nearby which have many statues and other Relics recovered from the site. The Mahaboshi Society’s Mulaghandaluti Temple, housing certain relics connected with Buddha, is situated close to the park. The society’s Sangharama is located close by and there is also a library with a good collection of Buddhist literature.
Kushinagar Buddha was cremated at Kushinagar in Utterpradesh. Buddha gave his last major discourse - on the 37 wings of enlightenment - age 81.The Buddha’s relics were divided into 8 and the eight people took their shares to their countries and eight stupas were built over them. In due course the relationships were subdivided again after Ashoka decided to build 84,000 stupas. Today the Buddha’s relics are contained spread all over Asia. Kushinagar was re-discovered before the end of the 19th century. Excavations have been unearthed the remains of many monasteries dating back to the fourth and eleventh centuries. Most of the ruins are now inside a park housing a modern shrine with a large May 2016

Cinven and CPPIB believe Hotelbeds is an attractive investment opportunity on the basis of Strong financial performance with double digit total transaction value (“TTV”) growth in the Bedbank business over the last five years; Strong underlying market growth supported by an expected increase in global hotel bookings; Hotelbeds’ highly experienced, proven management team, led by Joan Vilà, CEO, with an outstanding track record of driving organic growth in both its hotel supply and customer base; Market consolidation opportunities in Europe, Middle East, Asia and the May 2016
Americas given market fragmentation and potential for further margin improvement through economies of scale; Jorge Quemada, Partner at Cinven, said: “Hotelbeds Group is a strongly performing business with the largest accommodation distribution network within the overall B2B bedbank market offering broad client reach globally. We believe there are considerable growth opportunities through further investment in IT – as we did successfully with another global business based in Spain, Amadeus; growth in Asia and other markets – supported by our Hong Kongbased portfolio team; and market consolidation as the wholesale accommodation market remains highly fragmented.” “Hotelbeds is run by a highly experienced and skilled management team, led by CEO, Joan Vilà, whom we are looking forward to working with, along with our
partner, CPPIB.” Shane Feeney, Managing Director, Head of Direct Private Equity, CPPIB, said: “Hotelbeds is a unique opportunity to invest in the leading operator within the hotel accommodation distribution market, an industry which has strong long-term prospe cts that will support continued growth. Backing a best-inclass management team, with an exceptional track record of organic growth that we will support in driving industry consolidation in the coming years, provides a terrific opportunity for CPPIB.” Cinven has a strong track record in the travel technology business, following its successful investment in Amadeus, the leading provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel industry, which invested more than €1 billion in R&D and doubled EBITDA during Cinven’s ownership, generating a return of 7 times. It is an Opportunity to improve bedbank distribution via travel agents and tour operators - particularly in emerging economies - via investment in its sales and contracting team, as well as investment in R&D and IT systems to improve customer efficiencies and services. 31
California’s Art Scene

f the art culture is of your interest, then you will never fall short of options in California. The art culture of California is strong and it makes an experience of a lifetime! From new and old to conservative and hip, lovely museums and extravagant festivals in cities and towns are the reasons to be awed. The Golden State has all sorts of art scenes. With its dramatic oceanbluff setting overlooking a steel-blue sea, Mendocino the coastal hamlet is an obvious magnet for artists, romantics and lovers of anything wild and untamed. Mendocino lets you stroll past picture perfect saltbox cottages wrapped in roses and picket fences, wind chimes tinkling in the breeze. In the 1950s, artists began to migrate to the nearly abandoned hamlet, establishing it as an important artist’s community that still thrives with visitors who come to see and buy quality work. Explore the local art scene at Mendocino Art Center, with galleries offering regular shows displaying works by local and national artists. It’s also a vibrant teaching centre, offering more than 200 classes a year in everything from fibre arts to sculpture. San Jose Museum of Art is
a downtown museum prides itself on its origins as a mark of Community Spirit and Local Zest. In 1969, the beautiful 19th century building that then housed a library was threatened with demolition, but a group of citizens banded together to save it and open an art gallery. That local effort grew, creating this remarkable downtown facility, including a lightfilled wing added in the 1990s. Permanent exhibits present an outstanding and varied collection, including contemporary abstracts, photography, figurative painting, sculpture, and works in new media by Bay Area artists. If you’ve got kids, check the schedule for family-friendly, hands-on activities to help children get excited about art. The Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento is the first public art museum founded in the Western United States, and is still one of the leading museums in California today. But don’t be fooled by the age of the museum – Crocker Art Museum has an unparalleled collection of both historic and contemporary art.
The original Crocker Museum was a gift to the city, a move by Margaret Crocker, heiress of the fabulously wealthy Crocker family, to let the people of Sacramento have permanent access to her family’s astounding personal galleries. Over time, the collection grew to include an amazing wealth of international ceramics, sculptures, and works by contemporary California artists, many who taught at nearby U.C. California at Davis. In 2010, a dramatic new gallery space, the ultramodern Teel Family Pavilion, was added to the 1800s-era Crocker compound, a bold and visually stunning move. May 2016
These wide open, naturally lit gallery spaces have become the home of the contemporary collection, and they are your chance to see original works by some of the state’s finest artists. Here, experience black-and-white originals by the celebrated photographer Ansel Adams. The difference of seeing his real images of Yosemite’s Half Dome versus a poster replica is breathtaking. Altogether, the Crocker, old and new, creates one of the best experiences in California’s surprising capital city. The oceanfront town with panoramas as pretty as a photograph has more than 120 museums, galleries, and public art installations, including multimedia installations that are at the cutting edge of today’s art scene. Follow the Santa Monica Art Trek guide, an easy-to-follow map featuring many of the city’s key locations for art. It also includes locations for bike and roller blade hire for lively ways to move around the pedestrian-friendly town. Start at the Santa Monica Museum of Art, a showcase for contemporary art from around the world. Other worthy stops include Bergamot Station, housing Santa Monica’s single largest concentration of art galleries, and Broadway Gallery Complex for contemporary works by local and international artists. Dance and the performing arts find strong support here too. In the summer, the Santa Monica Pier becomes May 2016
the stage for a series of outdoor concerts. The 3rd Street Promenade is a well-known place for catching quality street musicians and performers. Downtown venues for music, dance, and theatre include state-of-the-art The Broad Stage, on the campus of Santa Monica City College, and Edgemar Center for the Arts. And design afficionados will go to the Santa Monica Design District, with modern showrooms and shops displaying both classical and modern design. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is
an art museum in Los Angeles, California. It is located on Wilshire Boulevard along Museum Row in the Miracle Mile vicinity of Los Angeles, adjacent to the George C. Page Museum and La Brea Tar Pits. LACMA is the largest encyclopedic museum west of Chicago and attracts nearly one million visitors annually. Its holdings include more than 100,000 works spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present. In addition to art exhibits, the museum features film and concert series throughout the year. 33

raggy Range has opened the doors to New Zealand’s newest premier winery accommodation with the reveal of the Owner’s Lodge located at its iconic Giants Winery in Hawke’s Bay New Zealand. The lodge features four luxurious king bedrooms, each with ensuite, spacious open plan living and chef’s kitchen. The formal living area offers views to Te Mata Peak with dining and sitting areas by an impressive open fire place. The in ground pool sits high above the valley with the property immaculately landscaped and set in lush green surroundings. The Owner’s Lodge was designed by Architect John Blair constructed as part of the Giants Winery build in 2001 as a representative of New Zealand’s agricultural heritage. While the external design remains in its original form, the layout of the lodge has been redesigned by local Architect Simon Clarkson to maximize the space ensuring a more spacious feel with raised cathedral ceilings and expansive hallways. The interior design has been styled as a country lodge, embracing a classic country look and feel, but also ensuring a feeling of luxury throughout the lodge. Interior Designer Andrew Melville has drawn upon the stunning surrounds ensuring the décor was complementary to the location drawing in May 2016
the view of both the TukiTuki Valley and Te Mata Peak. “I used a carefully curated collection of natural materials and drew on these to create texture – rustic wooden floors, sandstone surfaces, pewter finishes and in keeping with the natural New Zealand feel, cotton and wool,” he said. Many of the furnishings and ornamental items have been hand-selected by Mary Peabody and daughter MaryJeanne Hutchinson with Mary-Jeanne saying, “We have been looking at pieces for the lodge for a long time and it was important for us to use as much locallysourced materials as possible. New Zealand, and in particular Napier and Havelock North, offer a world-class range of artwork, antiques and furnishings and we felt the lodge was an ideal location to showcase the region’s treasures.” During their stay guests will have access to an impressive wine selection including large format and rare library wines. • Reduce your coffee intake by one cup a day for 60 days, which saves INR 9000 and equates to 1 ticket to Disney’s Magic Kingdom and 1 ticket for an Everglades excursion • Reduce your coffee intake by one cup a day for 365 days, which saves INR 55000 and equates to a 2-Day theme park ticket into Walt Disney World Resort for a family of 4. 10 Incredible Selfie Spots in USA T
he perfect selfie requires only two ingredients: your smiling face and an unforgettable backdrop — which you’ll find all across the USA. What better background than an unbelievable natural wonder or an iconic manmade one? Below are some of the most incredible selfie spots in the USA — • White Sands, Alamogordo, New Mexico: One of the stranger sights in a
46
state full of oddities fills the Tularosa Basin, just west of Alamogordo: the world’s largest field of gypsum sand dunes, blinding white and ringed by the San Andres and Sacramento mountains. The snow-colored dunes cover 275 square miles of the Chihuahuan Desert, and are constantly changing as they are moved by the steady southwest winds.
There you see are chalkwhite dunes, some as high as 60 feet, mountains shimmering on the horizon and the blue bowl of sky. • Ozark National Forest, Arkansas - The Upper Buffalo Wilderness portion of the Ozark National Forest in northwest Arkansas (about 325 kms northeast of Little Rock) is chockfull of selfie spots. Make a point to pose on Whitaker Point, a rock ledge that juts out over the Buffalo National River. To get there, follow the Whitaker Point Trail, which is nearly a 5-kilometer round trip. • Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, Hawai’i - Prove to your friends and family how close you got to molten lava by commemorating your trip to Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park with a selfie. Located in the southeast portion of Hawai’i's Big Island, the park’s black volcanic rock, oozing magma and billowing steam will add dramatic flair to your photo. • Toadstool Geologic Park, Nebraska - Toadstool Geologic Park, which is part of the Oglala National Grassland and located in the northwest corner of Nebraska, earned its name from its signature mushroom-shaped sandstone formations. You’ll want to get right up next to those rocks, because a closer look may reveal fossilized remains of creatures that May 2016
lived there millions of years ago. • Big Bend National Park, Texas - Big Bend National Park in western Texas won’t disappoint the avid selfie-taker. This expansive park along the Texas-Mexico border provides plenty of backdrops to choose from. There are the imposing walls of the Santa Elena Canyon, traces of long-abandoned settlements and one of the starriest night skies in North America. • Redwood National and State Parks, California You need to put yourself in the picture at Redwood National and State Parks to provide scale. These parklands in northern California (about 500 kilometers north of San Francisco, California, near the border with Oregon) are home to the USA’s famous towering redwood trees, which can reach heights of about 100 meters. • Badlands National Park, South Dakota - “Badlands” may not sound appealing, but this national park in the southwest section of South Dakota (about 120 kms east of Rapid City) will inspire some unbelievable May 2016
selfies. The park is known for its nearly 100,000 hectares of striking geological features, including these striped hills that will lend an otherworldly quality to your photo. • Monument Valley, Arizona and Utah - These sandstone towers have set the scene for many movies, including Forrest Gump, Back to the Future: Part III and Disney’s The Lone Ranger — and they will make a great backdrop for your selfie. You’ll find Monument Valley along the ArizonaUtah border, roughly 275 kms northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona. • B r o o k l y n Bridge Park, New York - A selfie in Brooklyn Bridge Park,
across the East River from Manhattan, will allow you to fit both the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge and the New York skyline into your shot. Another plus: You won’t have to fight fellow photographers for the perfect angle. • Everglades National Park, Florida - If you don’t take a selfie, how will anyone know how much nature You’ll have the opportunity to do just that during a visit to Everglades National Park in South Florida, just southwest of Miami.

Smoke-free holiday park at New Zealand
T
he popular holiday park in the Bay of Islands will be an entirely smokefree zone from 31 May, coinciding with World Smoke Free Day. Next Generation Holiday Parks, who manage the property, said the initiative supports the New Zealand Government’s goal of a smoke-free country by 2025. Mr.Daniel Tilton CEO said his company feels strongly about the smoke-free policy. “In the six months we have been managing the park, we have had very strong feedback from our guests supporting a smoke-free holiday destination,”he said. “Our guests want to enjoy
48
our campsites and facilities, such as the camp kitchen and the playground, without themselves and their children being affected by second-hand smoke.” Society in general is becoming very health conscious and we need to move with this and support the health and comfort of our guests.” Mr Tilton said the move is also based on environmental factors since the native wildlife throughout the park are eating cigarette butts. It’s harmful to the environment, it’s harmful to animals and it detracts from the visual amenity of the park. He added that it makes him proud that Russell TOP 10 is
believed to be the first holiday park in the country to go smoke-free. Chief Executive Officer at Holiday Accommodation Parks Association New Zealand, Fergus Brown said he is delighted that TOP 10 Russell is taking the plunge into the smoke-free zone. “I applaud Russell TOP 10 for their smoke-free park initiative,” he said. “Hopefully other parks will follow suit and we strongly support and encourage them in doing so.” These sentiments were echoed by Tourism Industry Association Chief Executive, Chris Roberts. “The move will offer Russell Top 10 a competitive point of difference that will appeal to many holidaymakers, as well as being good for people’s health and the environment, ”he said.
