NorthernIreland hotel and self-cateringoccupancy forJanuary-June 2024 were largely on par with occupancy achieved during the same periodlast year, with rates around 9% above those attained during January-June 2023. Cardholder spend data for the firstquarter of 2024 indicates ongoing recoveryfor international visitorsto NorthernIreland, as well as increasedtourismrelated spend fromthe Republicof Ireland and Great Britain visitorscomparedto the same periodin 2023. However, data suggests a reduction in domestic tourismspend. While CSO data indicates overnight tripstaken by Republicof Ireland residentsin NorthernIreland during the firstquarter of the year did not match the levels achieved in 2023, spend remained strongand holiday tripsincreased. Lookingahead, forwardbookingsfor Northern Ireland accommodationpresenta mixed picture,while air access remains strong. International touristarrivalsreached 97%of pre-pandemiclevels in the first quarter of the year and are expected to recovercompletely in 2024, backed by strong demand and enhanced air connectivity.
