Learning Mentor

Reporting to

Playing for Success Centre Manager

Purpose Of The Role Futureversity works with The London Marathon Playing for Success (PfS) programme in Tower Hamlets, a scheme of learning which compliments the work that pupils do at school, in a more informal and relaxed atmosphere. Learning Mentors are what makes PfS so special, they are the magic ingredient that keeps learning informal and fun. As a Learning Mentor you'll be an integral part of the staff team at the centre. you will be responsible for supporting young people on a range of numeracy literacy and ICT activities for at least one session a week for three hours during 12 weeks of a school term, you'll receive free top class training to help you in your role and have the opportunity to accredit your experience through NOCN - this can be a great help towards accessing further education or employment. In addition, you won't be put out of pocket because lunch and travel expenses are reimbursed!

Main Responsibilities The Learning Mentors are responsible for: • Supporting young people on a range of numeracy literacy and ICT activities for at least one session a week for three hours during 12 weeks of a school term • Monitoring progress of pupils • Helping to set up and tidy the classroom before and after the session • Be a positive role model for the young people who take part

Purpose Of The Role Peer Motivators are the magic ingredient to the Futureversity Summer Programme. After a five day intense training programme (over a period of five weekends), the Peer Motivators volunteer full time for four weeks. As a Team Leader you will be responsible for supporting and coordinating a team of Peer Motivators, you'll receive free top class training to help you in your role and have the opportunity to accredit your experience through NOCN - this can be a great help towards accessing further education or employment. During the programme you will be treated to a number of social events including a day at a theme park to celebrate your achievement. In addition, you won't be put out of pocket because lunch and travel expenses are reimbursed!

Main Responsibilities The Team Leaders are responsible for: • Giving a warm welcome to all summer course participants and acting as the face of Futureversity • Ensuring the right Peer Motivators are placed on the right course • Registering a team of Peer Motivators • Being a role model for Peer Motivators and summer course students • Supervising the organisation of the spectacular ‘End of Week Showcases’ to celebrate achievement • Providing basic First Aid • Report to the Volunteers Coordinator and troubleshoot where problems arise

Eco Challenge Xtra Team Mentor

Purpose Of The Role Team Mentors work with the Team Leaders to help deliver Eco Challenge Xtra project, a brand new opportunity for 16 year olds as they finish year 11 this summer. Over a three week period participants will experiences lots of new and exciting ways of getting involved in green issues in the local area and will have chance to do something really different and make a difference. As a Eco Challenge Xtra Team Mentor you will be responsible for supporting a group of 16 year olds through the programme, you will receive free top class training to help you in your role . In addition, you won't be put out of pocket because lunch and travel expenses are reimbursed!

Main Responsibilities The Eco Challenge Xtra Team Mentors are responsible for: • Support the Eco Challenge Xtra Team Leaders in all areas of their work • Work alongside the Eco Challenge Xtra Team Leaders with a group of 12 young people aged 16 years for the duration of their involvement in the Eco Challenge Xtra Programme • Maintain contact with the young people, especially during home break periods and during individual volunteering weeks, to help ensure good retention throughout the programme • Supervise and support small groups of young people - probably in groups of three or four during week three and volunteering time • Support young people in reflection and evaluation sessions • Attend training with other Eco Challenge Xtra Team Leaders and Eco Challenge Xtra Team Mentors

Fundraising Volunteer

Fundraising Manager

Purpose Of The Role The Fundraising Volunteer will undertake a broad range of research activities focussed on preparing applications for the fundraising team, contributing towards achieving our £2 million target for our incredible work to transform the lives of young people. In return, you will gain an insight into the world of fundraising, learn about the Futureversity fundraising framework from an experienced fundraising team including how to use research surrounding trusts, foundations and high net worth individuals to reach monetary targets. During your time as a volunteer you will have access to support from the entire Futureversity staff team and be given a written reference at the end of you volunteering.

Main Responsibilities The Fundraising Volunteer is responsible for: • Undertaking prospect research and identifying opportunities with: ‣Trusts and Foundations ‣Corporates ‣Statutory Funds ‣High net worth Individuals ‣Network Partners ‣Project Delivery Partnerships • Collating all research and presenting it on the database • Working with the Fundraising Manager to evaluate research and strategic categories • Capturing all relevant research on database for funding applications • Providing support and /or direction for fundraising events • Undertake any other reasonable and related duties as and when required
