BE YOUR OWN SUPERHERO Age: 6 to 8 years Location: SARC

Have your own vision of what a Superhero means? In this hero themed workshop, participants will create a life-sized version of themselves in a hero form! Participate with peers in other traditional hero-themed game, craft, and hands-on activity.

Participants will run, lunge, and jump into this outdoor fitness themed workshop. Join us to participate in some outdoor movement activities including jogging, circuits and an obstacle course that takes place on the trails at Lambert Willson Park.

In this astronomy themed workshop, participants will dive into space. Children will make their own constellation projector, participate in solar system themed demonstrations and hands-on activities.

Your dancer will enjoy learning how to jump, step and groove to the music. Each class will consist of learning the basics of jazz dance. Join the fun and let your dancer develop their confidence and creativity.

ENGINEERING FOR KIDS – MINECRAFT DESIGN THEME PARK MANIA Age: 8 to 12 years Location: AFLC

This program will have students build their very own Minecraft amusement parks. Students will have to navigate a few engineering and teamwork challenges to do so. Students will draft blueprints and plans for their parks on paper before beginning to create it in Minecraft to make it as much like the process of designing a real amusement park as possible. Class Requirements: Students may use their own Minecraft account for PC or one provided by Engineering for Kids.

ENGINEERING FOR KIDS – MINECRAFT TRAVEL INTO THE FUTURE Age: 8 to 12 years Location: AFLC

This program will immerse students in the expansive world of Minecraft and will challenge students ingenuity and problem-solving skills. Students will learn how to use teamwork and manage resources like an engineer in the real world. Building in Minecraft allows students to experiment with designs and materials. Learn how the United Nations is using Minecraft in the process of urban planning and design. KIDS GREAT MINDS – CARTOON DIGITAL ANIMATION Age: 10 to 13 years Location: AFLC

This course is for anyone who has artistic aspirations of creating stories through digital animation. Participants will incorporate the 12 principles of animation to animate their own characters, create animated shorts and a final cartoon movie. An Apple© iPad or Android Tablet is required for this program. Participants will need an Android Tablet or Apple iPad for this program. Participants will be contacted ahead of time regarding download requirements.

Get creative in a maker environment that blends arts, electronics and code. Experience the Makey Makey board, exploring beginner technological literacy, interactive games, musical instruments and amazing game controllers. Children will code, draw, build, and colour, helping programming to be contextual and fun.

This community based running club is for children who want to learn new skills and have fun running with others. All fitness levels are welcome. Learn to build endurance, practice proper running form, pacing, injury prevention and nutrition. We will be running on trails at Lambert Willson Park.

WE’VE GOT GAME – EMPOWERMENT THROUGH SPORT

Age: *8 to 10 years ^11 to 12 years Location: AFLC New! This program is focused on providing empowerment through sport and social opportunities for female and female identifying individuals. Participants will learn game skills, develop confidence and build strong relationships. Sports include basketball, volleyball, badminton, floor hockey and more. Each week will feature a different sport and one hour of court time that focuses on individual skill development and learning basic competencies in a fun, interactive environment. The remainder of each session will incorporate fun activities and games to promote team building, empathy and confidence. No experience is necessary.
