Participants will learn to design, program and test their own Apps for both Android and iOS devices. First they will be the Designer: creating the app UI (user interface). Participants will gain the necessary knowledge to work with programming and logical statements to create their own software. By the end of the program, participants will have gained the necessary skills to understand loops, variables, input/out, conditional statements and the basics of Python’s programming language. YOUTH RUNNING PROGRAM Age: 12 to 15 years Location: AFLC
This community based running club is for youth who want to learn new skills and have fun running with others. This is a non-competitive program. All fitness levels are welcome. Simply do your best and compete against your own time. Learn to build endurance, practice proper running form, pacing, injury prevention and nutrition. Each week we will meet at the back of the AFLC in the parking lot; we will be running on trails at Lambert Willson Park.

The Town of Aurora strives to incorporate positive youth development in all programs and services for youth.

Looking for a job or struggling to get an interview? This workshop will teach you how to fill out a job application, build your resume, learn important interview skills and find out how to impress a prospective employer. This program will take place over Zoom. Participants will be given a 30 minute lunch break, and will be expected to log back on promptly for the second half of the program. Participants will be sent a link via email prior to the start of the program.

RED CROSS – BABYSITTER’S TRAINING Age: 11 to 17 years Location: AFLC
Participate in fun activities and gain hands-on practice in this Red Cross course. Participants will learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the skills to promote themselves as babysitters to prospective families.

RED CROSS – STAY SAFE! Age: 9 to 13 years Location: AFLC
This Red Cross program offers basic first aid and safety skills for youth. Participants will learn about being safe when they are without the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult, both at home and in their communities.
