Aquatots 6M – 3Y Children must be accompanied by an adult in the water.

Preschool Aquatics – Level A

3 – 5Y First Time Lessons

3 – 5 Y Fully submerge head for 5 seconds

Level 1 6 – 12Y Firsts Time Lessons

Level 2 4 – 12Y Travel 5 yards, bob 3 times, & tread water 15 seconds without assistance or completion of Preschool Aquatics Level B.

Level 3 4 – 12Y Travel 10 yards on front or back; change direction in water

Level 4 4 – 12Y Head-firsts entry in a seated position; jump into deep water; swim 15 yards on front and back; tread water 30 seconds

Level 5 4 – 12Y Open turns on front or back; front crawl and elementary backstroke 25 yards; breaststroke 15 yards

Private Lessons All Ages All swim levels

Danville Wave Riders 11Y – 14Y Front crawl, back crawl, & elementary backstroke for 100 continuous yards, breaststroke for 50 yards, and butterfly for 25 yards, shallow angle dives, and tread water for 30 seconds

Lifeguard Training 15Y and up Pass lifeguard pre-skills test

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I take swim lessons?

The Town of Danville will be offering swim lessons at two locations: Monte Vista Community Pool at 3131 Stone Valley Road and San Ramon Valley High School Pool at 501 Danville Boulevard.

When do I register?

Registration begins for incorporated Danville residents only on Tuesday, February 14 at 8:00AM. Open registration begins Tuesday, February 21 at 8:00AM.

How do I register?

Online: Register online by setting up and logging into your account at www.danville.ca.gov/recguide. We encourage you to setup your account prior to the registration date. This will ensure that you receive the lessons you want quickly. For assistance, please call (925)314-3400.

In Person: Please come into the Danville Community Center at 420 Front Street from Mondays – Thursdays from 8:00AM – 5:00PM and Fridays from 8:00AM – 1:00PM.

How do I select my child’s class level?

Please refer to Swimming Levels Table with qualifying age and prerequisite skills needed in the order listed. Please note that if the wrong swim level is chosen, we will only be able to provide a refund with Town credit only. We also will not be able to accommodate changing the participant to the correct level.

What if my participant cannot pass a swim test?

If your participant cannot pass a swim test, they will be asked to withdraw from the course. If you sign your participant up for a level that they do not meet the prerequisite and cannot pass the swim test, you will only be refunded with Town credit.

What happens if my child passes the class, but I registered the child for the same level next session?

If there is space available, your child will be transferred to the correct level.

Is it possible to make up a class that my child missed due to illness or vacation?

Unfortunately, there will be no make-up classes due to illness or vacation. I am an adult. Can I take lessons?

Aquatots Parent/Child

Age 6M-3Y | Town Staff

Aquatots is a class for adults with children ages six months to 3 years that emphasizes water adjustment and enjoyment through fun games and songs led by a swim instructor. The adult participants will learn how to safely handle their infants or toddlers in and around the water as well as lay the foundation for future aquatics skills for their children.

Preschool Aquatics Program- Level A

Age 3-5Y | Town Staff

Preschool Aquatics Program consists of two levels for children ages 3-5. Children registered for Preschool Aquatics must be ready to learn without parent participation. To complete this course and move on to Preschool Aquatics Level B, your child must be comfortable submerging their head entirely underwater for about 5 seconds and be comfortable in the water. Most children will need to repeat these classes.

To complete this course and move on to Preschool Aquatics Level B, your child must be comfortable submerging their head fully underwater for about 5 seconds. In addition, your child must demonstrate comfort in the water. Most children will need to repeat these classes.
