Each camper will be provided with a camp newsletter and calendar on the first day of camp. This letter will outline the planned activities for the week.
Camp Supervisors will call home on a daily basis to confirm your child’s absence.
each day at camp Lunches: Please pack nutritious, nut-free lunches and snacks each day. We ask that all campers and families be attentive to others’ special dietary needs. All East Gwillimbury camps strive to be “nut-free”. In addition, please send campers with a refillable water bottle. Clothing / Sunscreen: Campers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, and to dress appropriately for the weather. Since campers are outside part of the day, hats and sunscreen are strongly encouraged. A knapsack labelled with the camper’s name is advisable, as well as labelling other items. Campers are advised not to bring any valuables to camp, as they are responsible for their own belongings. Please pack additional clothing.

Our staff are selected on the basis of past experience, skills, enthusiasm and passion to work with children. Our staff must be certified in first aid and submit a police vulnerable sector check.

When considering a recreation experience, please consider the individual needs, and that the recreation integrated setting may not be suitable for all persons with disabilities. Health and safety of participants and staff is paramount, which could result in participants being denied access to the program. The Town of East Gwillimbury attempts to accommodate requests for additional support for children with special needs. However, due to the number of requests or level of care required, support cannot be guaranteed. Accommodation can be made subject to health, safety and cost considerations. Refund Policies
Registrations that are submitted after a session has begun will not be pro-rated.
Full refund – If a program is cancelled prior to the session beginning, you will be contacted by telephone and issued a full refund.
Discounts The following discounts are applicable to our Summer Camp 2018 programs: Third and subsequent Child(ren): When there are three or more children in the same family taking part in the same week of summer camp, the third and subsequent child(ren) will receive a $20 discount on the lesser camp registration (excluding Busing and Extended Hours fees).
Partial refund – You will receive a partial refund if a written request is received by Recreation Services one week prior to the start of the camp. Refunds will be deducted the $20 administration fee. No administration fee will be charged if the child is transferred to an upcoming week. We regret that we are unable to reimburse funds once a session has commenced.
Transfers – If you wish to transfer your child from one camp to another there will be a $20 administration fee. Medical – Medical reasons will be considered if a written request and medical note are received by Recreation Services before the week ends. You will only receive a refund for the missed days minus a $20 administration fee. Please allow three to five weeks for the processing of your refund. For additional camp and program policies please contact Recreation Services.

Campers who normally ride the bus will not be permitted to walk home unless a written note is sent to the camp supervisor indicating permission. Before & After Camp Extended Hours* Extended camp hours will be offered at Ross Family Complex, Holland Landing Community Centre and Harvest Hills Activity Centre. NOTE: Busing is not included with extended hours registration. Adventure Camp participants registered at MACC and wishing to use extended hours at Ross Family Complex, will be bused to and from Mount Albert Community Centre at no extra cost. Jr. Camp — 4-6 years This camp is perfect for the first time camper. Campers will play different games and sports throughout the day and participate in various arts & craft activities. Campers can even dress up on the theme days! Jr. & Sr. Sports & More Camp — 4-6 years & 7-12 years Is your camper full of energy? Does your camper like different sports? Every day campers get to play a variety of sports, games and activities. Some sports & activities include: floor hockey, basketball, team building activities and more! Theatre Camp — 5-7 years We are thrilled to offer this exciting and creative summer camp in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Company. Children will be led step by step through the theatrical process as they focus on acting, comedy and staging. Campers will build confidence and teamwork in preparation for their performance. Actors showcase their talents before adoring fans on the final day of camp. Acting Out! Camp — 5-10 years This camp is run in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Company. This dynamic and interactive performance camp features a variety of fast-paced workshops. Taught in a fun and creative way, children will be introduced to the joys of the performing arts while they gain confidence and allow their vibrant personalities to flourish. Emergency Services Camp — 7-9 years Explore the Emergency Services atmosphere through various activities including: training techniques, simulations, and hands-on equipment demonstrations with our fire, paramedic and police partners. This is the perfect training ground for the firefighter, police officer and paramedic in you. (Busing is available – Bus #1 and Bus #2 will drop campers at the EG Sports Complex to board another bus to go to the Queensville Fire Station.) Dance Camp — 6-10 years Jump, spin and dance to the music! This lively and exciting dance camp offered in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Company will combine the basics of ballet, jazz, hip hop and introduce campers to the joys of dance! The sound of applause will fill the final day of camp as the dancers perform for family and friends featuring music from a variety of popular family movies. Kids Camp — 6-10 years This Camp is for children who love variety in their day! Campers will participate in traditional camp activities like games, sports, arts & crafts, and more!

Musical Theatre Camp — 6-10 years In partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Company, this exciting camp will have budding performers benefiting from a diversity of daily workshops by theatre professionals in singing, dancing and acting. Performers showcase their talents in a professional-scale production including costumes, props & sets, before adoring fans on the final day of camp.
Kids/starSkate — 6+ years Prerequisite: Registered in Junior Star Skate or above for 2018-19 season or by approval of director. Contact Lianne at programdirector@egskatingclub.com Skaters will have 3 hours of ice per day including 60 minutes of fully-coached classes in edges, turns, spins, jumps and performance. 2 hours of daily off ice classes led by experts in their field will include stretch and relaxation, mental training skills, off ice jump, skipping, fitness, yoga, dance, theatre and nutrition. Skaters may arrange group, semi-private or private lessons with the coach of their choice (all Skate Canada coaches welcome!) or we can arrange lessons for you. Note: If you have NOT registered for a Skate Canada program in 2018-19, a $35 member fee is additional. This program begins at 8 a.m. Busing and morning extended care will not be available. If busing and evening care is still required, full price still applies.
Karate Camp — 6-10 years This camp presents an opportunity for campers to become actively involved in the basic self-defense techniques and movements as taught in Shotokan Karate. The karate sessions will be run by black belt instructors from Community Martial Arts, a member of the International Karate Association (IKA Canada). A friendly, encouraging atmosphere will be created to make it an enjoyable and fun experience. A karate gi (uniform) will be supplied as part of the registration cost. Kids Great Minds – Cartoon Computer Animation — 6-11 years In partnership with Kids Great Minds, come unleash your imagination in this camp by creating your own animated cartoon movie. You will be guided step-by-step in a collaborative, computerized environment, as you create and watch your cartoon come to life. The software’s engaging design and multiple levels, offer a fun, rewarding experience providing the novice animator the courage to create with confidence! At the end of the camp, parents will be sent their child’s animated movies.

Soccer & Sports Camp — 8-12 years In this exciting partnership with the EG Soccer Club, your soccer star will spend the morning learning the FUNdamentals of soccer from coaches with the Soccer Club. In the afternoon, campers will join Sr. Sports Camp to keep the fun going with more sports and activities.
Sharon Temple: Nature Detectives — 7-12 years Bugs, Plants, Trees, Oh my! Does your camper love to play and explore the outdoors? Then this camp is for them! Discovering the 4.5 acres of land that surrounds the Sharon Temple each day will allow campers to connect with nature and have fun all at once. Campers will get to become their own Nature Detectives, learn how nature surrounds and supports us, as well as how to get creative using only our imaginations.
Hockey Camp — 8-14 years Campers will concentrate on the fundamentals of skating, shooting accuracy and also when and why to use certain shots. A game will be played at the end of the week matching player’s age, size and skills level. Full hockey equipment required.
Sharon Temple: Treasure Hunters — 7-12 years Does your camper have a knack for cracking codes, racing the clock or solving puzzles? Do they like adventure and searching for hidden treasures? Sign up for a week full of treasure hunting and mind puzzling fun at the Sharon Temple! Campers will take in treasure hunting by exploring puzzles, mind games, and scavenger hunts throughout the Sharon Temple property. It will have them moving their bodies and using their minds all week long!
Arts & Crafts Camp — 6-12 years Arts & Crafts camp allows campers to use their creative talents in a variety of ways. Each day campers will get the opportunity to create different projects. Campers will get to take home everything they make to show their families! Nature Camp — 6-12 years Does your camper like being outside and looking for bugs? Does your camper like using nature to create crafts? Does your camper like nature walks? This is the perfect camp for them! Campers will get the chance to discover all that nature has to offer.
Kids/CANSkate — 6-12 years In partnership with Skate Canada NCCP professional coaches, campers will enjoy 10 fun hours of on-ice instruction and can earn Can Skate ribbons and badges! Off ice classes led by experts in their field include: dance, yoga, fitness, skipping, flexibility and theatre performance. Campers will learn about nutrition through creating their own tasty snacks and use fabric paint to decorate their very own skating gloves (provided)! Note: If you have NOT registered for a Skate Canada program in 2018-19, a $35 member fee is additional. Skaters
Kids Great Minds – 3D Modeling and Printing — 8-12 years Come and 3D print with Kids Great Minds! Campers will fabricate their own 3D objects from start to finish; such as cars, jewelry, minions, robots, small toys and more. Our 3D printer will be on site so kids can see it in action, learning how it works, while printing their own creations! Each participant will be able to print one small 3D piece to take home to show off! Note: Additional pieces can be made available at an additional cost.
Sharon Temple: Baked it! — 7-12 years Baking is like science but with delicious treats to try at the end of each experiment! During this week campers will get to explore traditional and modern baking techniques, as well as learn about science and mathematics without even knowing it. Campers will learn where their food comes from and explore how time has shifted our food tastes, all while getting to taste delicious treats along the way.
Literary Leaves — 6-12 years In partnership with the East Gwillimbury Public Library, campers will learn how to book bind to create their own journal and use during this week of outdoor inspired art and storytelling. Each day will provide participants with outdoor time to work on projects like sun printing, species identification and enviroart, along with time in the afternoon to work on activities like story writing, basic calligraphy and journal writing. If your camper enjoys reading, writing and nature, this is the camp for them!
Kids Great Minds – Games and Animations Programming — 6-11 years In partnership with Kids Great Minds, this tech camp introduces campers into the amazing world of computer programming. Using a fun and easy-to-use multimedia software, kids will have great adventures creating games and animations. Campers will be solving programs, designing projects and communicating ideas using stackable blocks of code in a fun and collaborative way. At the end of the camp, parents will be sent their child’s projects.
Lego Camp — 7-12 years Does your camper enjoy creating, learning, sharing and playing with Lego? We have an exciting program that allows your child to explore science, technology, engineering, math and writing. Using Lego products and computers to program working models with motors, gears and sensors children can put their creative skills to use. To enhance literacy and art, children will use digital cameras and story creation software to write about the worlds they build.
Tennis Camp – EGTC — 6-14 years Our tennis camp is geared for all playing levels. The progressive tennis system will be implemented at all levels to maximize the player’s potential with FUN being our main priority. Children will learn and work on specific fundamentals throughout the week including groundstrokes, serves, and volleys through drills and game-based play. There will be a fun tournament for all participants on the last day of camp for each week. All coaches are certified with Tennis Canada. Camp runs Monday to Thursday (Friday is used as a rain day if needed).

Ringette Camp — 8-14 years In partnership with Newmarket District Ringette Association. Campers will focus on learning the fundamentals of skating, shooting accuracy and ring control. Campers will also learn about nutrition and hydration and its importance in overall performance. A game will be played at the end of the week matching players’ age, size and skill level. Full ringette equipment required.
Sharon Temple: History Explorers — 7-12 years Take a step back in time and explore the past from all around the world! Explore the life of an Egyptian, the battlefield of a Solider, and the house of a Settler. Campers will enjoy learning about the past through hands-on activities, craft making, cooking, and more! It will feel like they have travelled back in time as they learn all about the lives of those that lived long before them.
Tennis / Kids Camp Combo — 6-12 years This camp combines our Tennis Camp and Kids Camp to create a full day camp. Campers will begin their day at Tennis Camp and will be walked to Kids Camp for lunch and the afternoon. Campers using before care or busing will be walked out to Tennis Camp.
s Silver Lakes Golf Camp — 8-14 years s This exciting camp will offer the camper an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf under the direction of a Golf Pro. Mornings will have the campers receiving golf instruction, then break for lunch (provided by Silver Lakes at an extra fee of $50 for the week that can be purchased through the club directly). Leader In Training Program (L.I.T.) — 13+ years This two week program is an introduction to leadership development. During the first week participants are “in class” learning how to program plan, policies and procedures, communication and teamwork with staff and campers. The second week is a placement into one of our camps where participants will be able to develop their skills further with the direction from the camp staff. It is mandatory that the L.I.T.’s complete their placement as they will be evaluated on their performance. • LIT’s must be 13 years of age by the 1st day of the program. • Upon completion of the program, LIT’s can apply for additional weeks of volunteering. • LIT’s must bring a packed lunch and drinks daily, as well as dress appropriately (running shoes are mandatory). • Busing is available at no charge for the camp placement week.

Finale Camp — 4-12 years This is the last week of fun and excitement! Campers get to play their favourite games from the summer, along with some arts & crafts, and exciting activities. Elite Hockey Camp — 10-13 years This camp is designed for rep players only, who will run through a program that is geared towards on and off ice development. Campers will receive high end on ice technical skill training, dryland and nutrition components. In order to enroll in this camp, players must provide an official written note from their coach and/or organization proving that they are registered to play at the rep level for the upcoming season. Full hockey equipment, proper workout clothes and running shoes are required.

Each week will involve a variety of activities, sports & games like slack lining, capture the flag, Amazing Race / Survivor and more.
