FIRST DAY OF CAMP
Each camper will be provided through email a camp newsletter and calendar the Friday prior to camp. Please ensure your email on the account is up to date. This letter will outline the planned activities for the week. This email will also include all the COVID-19 screening tools and documents needed to be completed for the week.
WHAT TO PACK FOR CAMP Lunches: Please pack nutritious, nut-free lunches and snacks each day in easy to open containers. We ask that all campers and families be attentive to others’ special dietary needs. All East Gwillimbury camps strive to be “nut-aware”. In addition, please send campers with a refillable water bottle.
The Town is working with Provincial and York Region Public Health Officials to provide safe programming during this Summer Season. The Town will monitor any changes related to COVID-19 and will make any necessary changes to programming to ensure the safety of our residents and employees. Clothing / Sunscreen: Campers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, and to dress appropriately for the weather. Camper will spend the majority of their day outside therefore, hats and sunscreen are strongly encouraged. A knapsack labelled with the camper’s name is advisable, as well as labelling other items. Campers are advised not to bring any valuables to camp, as they are responsible for their own belongings. Please pack additional clothing.
FLEXIBLE DROP OFF AND PICKUP Camp hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may drop your camper off between 8 and 9 a.m. and pick up between 4 and 5 p.m.
No busing or extendend care is available for 2021. ABSENT FROM CAMP If you know in advance that your child will be absent please send a note to the Camp Supervisor or contact Recreation Services at 905-478-3826. Camp Supervisors will call home on a daily basis to confirm your child’s absence.
MEDICAL INFORMATION Ensure that all medical concerns (medications, allergies, epi-pen, etc.) are completely documented during registration.
INCLUSION NEEDS When considering a recreation experience, please consider the individual needs, and that the recreation integrated setting may not be suitable for all persons with disabilities. Health and safety of participants and staff is paramount, which could result in participants being denied access to the program. The Town of East Gwillimbury attempts to accommodate requests for additional support for children with special needs. However, due to the number of requests or level of care required, support cannot be guaranteed. Accommodation can be made subject to health, safety and cost considerations. Should your child require extra support, please contact Recreation Services at 905-478-3826 to discuss their needs, information on counsellors and to register.

COUNSELLOR IN TRAINING (CIT) VOLUNTEER PROGRAM The Town has a volunteer program for teens who have some experience working with children or for those who have completed the LIT program. The focus of this program is to develop their skills, participate in all aspects of camp and dive in as a member of the camp team! Due to the large volume of volunteers, unfortunately not all volunteer applicants may be

KARATE CAMP 2021 6-10 years This camp presents an opportunity for campers to become actively involved in the basic self defense techniques and movements as taught in Shotokan Karate. The Karate sessions will be run by Black Belt instructors from Community Martial Arts, a member of the International Karate Association, (IKA Canada). L.I.T. 2021 — 13-16 years This two week program is an introduction to leadership development. During the first week participants are “in class” learning how to program plan, policies and procedures, communication and teamwork with staff and campers. TENNIS CAMP 2021 — 6-14 years Our tennis camp is geared for children ages 6-14 of all playing levels. Kids will be divided up into appropriate age/skill levels. The progressive tennis system will be implemented at all levels to maximize the player’s potential with FUN being our main priority. Children will learn and work on specific fundamentals throughout the week including groundstrokes, serves, and volleys through drills and game based play. There will be a fun tournament for all participants on the last day of camp for each week. All coaches are certified with Tennis Canada and have a passion to share their knowledge of the game with others. Please bring water daily and your own tennis racket! KGM IPAD© VIDEO GAME CREATION — 9-12 years Children will create many games on their IPad by using; single & multiplayer options, A.I’s, enemies and platformers. Campers will learn the basics of creating games by using coding concepts such as If statements, conditions, variables, sequencing etc. Impress your family and friends by sharing your unique games with them. 3D MODELLING AND PRINTING — 8-11 years Children will learn how to design and model 3D objects from animals, to their favourite movies and video games. They will work towards moving pieces and anything else they can imagine! A 3D printer will be shown online for the students to see and learn how it works.
