CancelLed classes Due to Covid-19 In-person classes may be cancelled with no notice due to COVID-19. Refunds will be provided. Refunds No refunds will be issued unless for medical reasons. A doctor’s note may be required. All requests for refunds must be made in writing to the Recreation Services office. A $20 administration fee plus a fee for classes attended will be deducted from all approved refunds. Refunds will be processed according to the date your written request is received by Recreation Services. Please allow three to five weeks for any refunds to be processed.

Transfers All requests for transfers must be made by emailing leisure1@eastgwillimbury.ca. If space is available, a transfer could be accommodated up to two business days prior to start of program. Waiting Lists If you cannot be accommodated in any of your selections, your name will be added to the waiting list for your first choice only. Prorate policy Classes will not be prorated for any reason.

Babysitter’s Training — 11-15 years In Partnership with SOS4Kids, The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviours to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. This updated curriculum, complete with new science, also provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency. This virtual program is instructor led on Zoom with 5, 1 hour 15 minute sessions. 100% attendance is required to receive certification. Manual and certification will be mailed to participants upon program completion. Home Alone — 9-12 years In Partnership with SOS4Kids, this Home Alone program prepares children aged 9-12 years to be on their own at home or elsewhere for short periods of time. Course content includes online safety and internet luring, fire safety, street smarts, stranger and not-so-stranger danger, first aid, and step-by-step home alone readiness plans. This virtual program is instructor led on Zoom with 5, 1 hour sessions. 100% attendance is required to receive certification. Pre-school Programs Group Piano Lessons Level 1 & Level 2 — 3.5-5.5 years Music for Little Mozarts is a well designed and established teaching method for this age group. The program integrates singing and stories to teach children the musical fundamentals in merry and enjoyable ways. This is a piano-based program. Children will be taught how to read and write basic music notations, understand how to read and comprehend music, and play practically on keys. A lesson and workbook are included. There are 4 levels of Music for Little Mozarts. After Level 1, evaluations will be given to individuals based on skills and maturity on the instrument. Come and join Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse for a musical adventure. Harmonic Melodies Music – 1111 Stellar Drive, Newmarket. Music for Babies and Toddlers — 6 months-2 years A weekly 30-minute group for parents and their little ones to learn, connect, and have fun. Elements include finger plays, poems, nursery rhymes, action songs, scarf dance, and percussion instruments. Children at young age will be taught the fundamental of rhythms, exercise impulse control, explore basic senses, and develop soothing and energizing routine with parents. Harmonic Melodies Music – 1111 Stellar Drive, Newmarket. Pre-School Skate — 2-6 years – NEW A chance to bring out your little tot for a leisure skate! Helmets and gloves highly recommended. No sticks and/or pucks permitted. One Parent/Guardian must attend and register and be on the ice with child. SportBall — Multi-sport — 3-5 and 4-6 years Sportball is a dynamic sports program focusing on skill development in eight different sports, namely soccer, basketball, hockey, tennis, baseball, volleyball, football and golf. This creative, non-competitive and self-esteem-building program prepares all children for a future of confident sports participation. We have included a ball for each participant in our registration fee so that parents can safely disinfect them each week. Please be sure to decorate your ball with your child’s name using a permanent marker. SportBall — Parent & Child Multi-Sport — 2-3 years Parents/caregivers have a direct hand in their pre-schooler’s development through this unique Multi-Sport program. With the active support and participation of their grownup, children are able to refine their skills and continue their social and physical development such as balance and coordination by participating in eight popular sports: hockey, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf and tennis. Under the guidance of our expert Coaches, grownups also understand proven teaching techniques that can be applied outside of Sportball classes. Sportball maintains a one-parent-per-child ratio policy in all Parent & Child programs to ensure that focus is kept on helping little ones practice and progress. We have included a ball for each participant in our registration fee so that parents can safely disinfect them each week. Sportball – Soccer — 4-6 years Sportball soccer classes are packed with high-energy fun, using imaginative coaching techniques and a continuous flow of new drills and non-competitive games to keep things rolling along. Child & Youth Programs Draw, Paint & Sculpt — 8-12 years Children will explore their creativity and discover their talents while learning art skills and techniques in drawing, painting and sculpting. Join Artist Donna Burwell-Stevens to learn about famous artists and to create portraits, still life, landscapes and more! Materials include: charcoal, oil pastel, watercolour and clay. Intro to Karate — 5-12 years This program presents an opportunity for participants to become actively involved in the basic self defense techniques and movements as taught in Shotokan Karate. The karate sessions will be run by Black Belt instructors from Community Martial Arts, a member of the International Karate Association (IKA Canada). A friendly, encouraging atmosphere will be created to make it an enjoyable and fun experience. KGM – 3D Modelling: Fantasy Character Design Workshop — 8-12 years — NEW Participants will learn 3D modelling techniques to create an animatedfantasy version of themselves! By the end of the workshop, students will have learned how to model a character, clothes and props. A 3D printer will also be on location for children to learn how it works. Their 3D character will be printed and given to families following the workshop. KGM – Computer Character Animation Workshop — 6-11 years — NEW Participants will be introduced to the computer animation where their creativity and imagination can soar. In this workshop children will animate their own characters and write a short story to send them on a trip around the world. KGM – Jr. Games and Animation Family Workshop — 5-7 years — NEW This is a great opportunity to introduce beginner coding to your young programmer and yourself! This workshop will allow your child to make their own characters come to life by programming them to move, jump, dance, sing and so much more. Note: an Apple© iPad or Android tablet is required for this workshop. Note: One adult per participant.

KGM – ONLINE Cartoon Computer Animation — 8-11 years This course will be online via video conference where a Kids Great Minds instructor will provide the live lessons. Dive into STEAM with animation technology. This program will enhance your child’s creativity and bring their inspiring stories to life incorporating the 12 principles of animation. In this program, children will animate their own characters, create animated shorts and a final cartoon movie while developing logical thinking skills. Required: an Apple© iPad or Android tablet is required for this program. A computer, microphone and speakers are required for the video. KGM – ONLINE Cartoon Digital Animation — 10-14 years — NEW This course will be online via video conference where a Kids Great Minds instructor will provide the live lessons. This course is for anyone who has artistic aspirations of creating stories through digital animation. Participants will incorporate the 12 principles of animation to animate their own characters, create animated shorts and a final cartoon movie. Required: an Apple© iPad or Android tablet is required for this program. A computer, microphone and speakers is required for the video. KGM – ONLINE Code with Ruby: Intro to Syntax Programming — 12-15 years — NEW This course will be online via video conference where a Kids Great Minds instructor will provide the live lessons. Through programming their versions of Agar.io, Snake, Asteroids and more, participants will build foundational knowledge for written programming languages. Ruby has very easy syntax (text based), reads as English and is a good introduction for new programmers or those who want to transition from drag and drop coding. Required: a computer (Mac or PC), microphone and speakers. A link will be provided to download as well as software instructions.

Child & Youth programs KGM – ONLINE Games and Animation Programming — 8-11 years This course will be online via video conference where a Kids Great Minds instructor will provide the live lessons. This program introduces kids to the amazing world of computer programming. Using Scratch (from MIT), a fun and easy-to-use multimedia software; kids will have great adventures creating games and animations. Participants will be solving problems, designing games and animating characters while communicating ideas using stackable blocks of code. Required: a computer (PC, Mac or Chromebook), microphone and speakers.
Kids fitness! — 7-12 years Physical fitness is so important for youth development and kids need physical activity to build strength, coordination, and confidence. This hour session is designed to get their heart pumping and bodies healthy. It is a great way to help kids get motivated, keep active and stay healthy. Each class will provide a variety of warm ups, stretching, cardiovascular, balance and co-ordination exercises.
KGM – ONLINE Intro to JAVA Programming for Beginners — 11-14 years — NEW This course will be online via video conference where a Kids Great Minds instructor will provide the live lessons. Participants will be introduced to the fundamental principles of object-oriented programming. They will create 3D games and animations using a drag and drop interface which will help eliminate the frustration of syntax which will help the transition into text based coding in Java. Required: a computer (Mac or PC), microphone and speakers. A link will be provided to download as well as software instructions. KGM – Virtual Reality Character Design Workshop — 9-13 years — NEW Children will be introduced to creating an industry level, and textured 3D character. This character will be added to a basis but personalized environment that will be seen with a VR device. Note: KGM will bring in the VR goggles so children can enjoy their amazing work. Season

55+ Functional Fitness – NEW Come join us as we get our bodies moving and work on our strength, mobility and flexibility. It is recommended that you wear comfy clothes and proper footwear. Masks are mandatory! 55+ Walking Group – NEW Come join us as we get our steps in at the EG Sports Complex! Whether you’re looking to reach your daily fitness goal or want to walk with a friend, all participants are welcome! These walking sessions are 50 minutes long. It is recommended that you wear comfy clothes and proper footwear. Masks are mandatory! Adult Skate – NEW Come on out to the Sports Complex for a fun, active leisure skate! Bring your own skates. Helmets and gloves highly recommended. Barre Strength – NEW ■ Inspired by ballet, yoga and pilates. It improves posture, strengthens and tones the body through low-impact and high intensity movements creating a lean physique. The Town encourages all participants to bring their own mat for hygienic reasons. Bootcamp Homestyle – NEW No equipment? No problem. This class focuses on strength, and endurance using body weight and things found at home. Join the instructor in a challenging yet fun workout that will create a healthy you. Line Dancing – Beginner – NEW This class is a great starting point for those who are new to line dancing or for those who want to just enjoy easier dances. Social dance steps will be taught to popular music in a relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on fun-filled exercise. Line Dancing – Progressive – NEW Step up to the next level of line dancing fun! This welcoming class is for those who know the basic line dance steps and want a little more of a challenge. Class will include some more complex dance patterns with a wider variety of turns. Move Your Body ■ What better way to keep in shape than moving your body. Our instructor will give you a workout geared to your body type and age. Stretching, toning, and strength building will be part of this exercise class. The Town encourages all participants to bring their own mat for hygienic reasons. Pickleball Drop In A fast-growing paddleboard sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. All levels welcome! Personal paddle required*. Senior Mobility Workshop ■ Who said getting older means slowing down? At Align, we believe you should be able to stay active at any age. Join our team of health and wellness experts as we guide you through fall prevention education, balance, strength and flexibility exercises to keep you moving well and moving often.
Strong Bones ■ This class is tailormade to build and maintain bone density using body weight, hand held weights, resistance bands and a variety of other tools. Feel stronger and walk taller. Ideal for people concerned with losing bone density. The Town encourages all participants to bring their own mat for hygienic reasons. Yoga — Essential ■ This practice builds healthy resilient bodies, increases vitality and trains our minds to be strong and flexible in the face of stress and change. Breathing techniques and meditation will give you a deep inner calm and self confidence to meet life’s challenges with grace. Appropriate for both the beginner and seasoned yoga student. The Town encourages all participants to bring their own mat for hygienic reasons. Yoga — Hatha ■ An introduction to Hatha Yoga is designed for students who are either new or returning to yoga. You will be guided by our instructor to gently explore basic postures and simple breathing techniques, followed by guided relaxation. Yoga improves your tone, helps strengthen and balance the body, and is ideal for counteracting the stresses of daily life. The Town encourages all participants to bring their own mat for hygienic reasons. Yoga Fit ■ An exciting new class format appropriate for those feeling inspired to take their practice to the next level. We will combine low impact cardio, working the larger muscle groups to increase heart rate, in an invigorating half hour, followed by a beautiful alignment-based vinyasa flow in the second half of our session. We will end with some heart opening poses to leave you feeling open and relaxed. This class will improve fitness, strength, balance, and flexibility. The Town encourages all participants to bring their own yoga mats, as well as comfortable running shoes. We also suggest a towel and water bottle. Young at Heart ■ Join us for a fun low impact cardio class that incorporates hand held weights, exercise bands, and other equipment. You will strengthen your muscles; improve your blood circulation and mobility. For encouragement and an hour of fun, you will not want to miss it. Beginners welcome! The Town encourages all participants to bring their own mat for hygienic reasons. The Town is working with Provincial and York Region Public Health Officials to provide safe programming during this Fall/Winter Season. The Town will monitor any changes related to COVID-19 and will make any necessary changes to programming to ensure the safety of our residents and employees.
