CANCELLED CLASSES DUE TO COVID-19 In-person classes may be cancelled with no notice due to COVID-19. Refunds or on-line alternative classes will be provided. REFUNDS No refunds will be issued unless for medical reasons. A doctor’s note may be required. All requests for refunds must be made in writing to the Recreation Services office. A $20 administration fee plus a fee for classes attended will be deducted from all approved refunds. Refunds will be processed according to the date your written request is received by Recreation Services. Please allow three to five weeks for any refunds to be processed.

BABYSITTER’S TRAINING — 11-15 years In Partnership with SOS4Kids, The Canadian Red Cross Babysitting course covers everything from managing difficult behaviours to essential content on leadership and professional conduct as a babysitter. Babysitting promises to deepen and enhance the responsibility that older youth feel when caring for younger children. This updated curriculum, complete with new science, also provides improved learning when it comes to giving the appropriate care in the event of an emergency. This virtual program is instructor led on Zoom with 5, 1 hour 15 minute sessions. 100% attendance is required to receive certification. Manual and certification will be mailed to participants upon program completion. HOME ALONE — 9-12 years In Partnership with SOS4Kids, this Home Alone program prepares children aged 9-12 years to be on their own at home or elsewhere for short periods of time. Course content includes online safety and internet luring, fire safety, street smarts, stranger and not-so-stranger danger, first aid, and stepby-step home alone readiness plans. This virtual program is instructor led on Zoom with 5, 1 hour sessions. 100% attendance is required to receive certification. PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAMS GROUP PIANO LESSONS LEVEL 1 & LEVEL 2 — 3.5-5.5 years Music for Little Mozarts is a well designed and established teaching method for this age group. The program integrates singing and stories to teach children the musical fundamentals in merry and enjoyable ways. This is a piano-based program. Children will be taught how to read and write basic music notations, understand how to read and comprehend music, and play practically on keys. A lesson and workbook are included. There are 4 levels of Music for Little Mozarts. After Level 1, evaluations will be given to individuals based no skills and maturity on the instrument. Come and join Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse for a musical adventure. Harmonic Melodies Music – 1111 Stellar Drive, Newmarket. MUSIC FOR BABIES AND TODDLERS — 6 months-2 years A weekly 30-min group for parents and the little ones to learn, connect, andhave fun. Elements include finger plays, poems, nursery rhymes, actionsongs, scarf dance, and percussion instruments. Children at young age willbe taught the fundamental of rhythms, exercise impulse control, explorebasic senses, develop soothing and energizing routine with parents. SPORTBALL — MULTI-SPORT — 3-5 and 4-6 years Sportball is a dynamic sports program focusing on skill development in eight different sports, namely soccer, basketball, hockey, tennis, baseball, volleyball, football and golf. This creative, non-competitive and selfesteem-building program prepares all children for a future of confident sports participation. We have included a ball for each participant in our registration fee so that parents can safely disinfect them each week. SPORTBALL — PARENT & CHILD MULTI-SPORT — 2-3 years Parents/caregivers have a direct hand in their pre-schooler’s development through this unique Multi-Sport program. With the active support and participation of their grownup, children are able to refine their skills and continue their social and physical development such as balance and coordination by participating in eight popular sports: hockey, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, golf and tennis. Under the guidance of our expert Coaches, grownups also understand proven teaching techniques that can be applied outside of Sportball classes. Sportball maintains a one-parent-per-child ratio policy in all Parent & Child programs to ensure that focus is kept on helping little ones practice and progress. We have included a ball for each participant in our registration fee so that parents can safely disinfect them each week. CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAMS DRAW, PAINT & SCULPT — 8-12 years Children will explore their creativity and discover their talents while learning art skills and techniques in drawing, painting and sculpting. Join Artist Donna Burwell-Stevens to learn about famous artists and to create portraits, still life, landscapes and more! Materials include: charcoal, oil pastel, watercolour and clay. INTRO TO KARATE — 5-12 years This program presents an opportunity for participants to become actively involved in the basic self defense techniques and movements as taught in Shotokan Karate. The Karate sessions will be run by Black Belt instructors from Community Martial Arts, a member of the International Karate Association (IKA Canada). A friendly, encouraging atmosphere will be created to make it an enjoyable and fun experience. Program will be run on the Zoom platform, a link will be emailed to you prior to the first class. TENNIS FOR KIDS - GREEN BALL — 12-16 years In partnership with the tennis club, Green ball uses regulation size courts and 75% compression balls allowing for a slightly lower/slower bounce. Juniors will be introduced to the fundamentals of tennis while having fun and making new friends. Our coaches are Tennis Canada Certified and classes will have a maximum of 6 participants.Participants must come with their own age/size appropriate racket. TENNIS FOR KIDS - ORANGE BALL — 9-11 years In partnership with the tennis club, Orange ball focuses on the basics and fundamentals of tennis with the emphasis on having FUN. Equipment and court size is geared specifically for this age group. Juniors will be introduced to tennis related games and activities allowing them to master the basics of tennis. Our coaches are Tennis Canada certified and classes will have a maximum of 6 participants. Participants must come with their own age/size appropriate racket. TENNIS FOR KIDS - RED BALL — 6-8 years In partnership with the tennis club, children are introduced to tennis using age and size appropriate equipment designed to make tennis fun and easy to learn. Red ball emphasizes team play and good sportsmanship. Our coaches are Tennis Canada certified and classes will have a maximum of 6 participants. Participants must come with their own age/ size appropriate racket. KIDS FITNESS! — 7-12 years Physical fitness is so important for youth development and kids these days need physical activity to build strength, coordination, and confidence! This hour session is designed to get their heart pumping and bodies healthy. It is a great way to help kids get motivated, keep active and stay healthy. Each class will provide a variety of warm ups, stretching, cardiovascular, balance and co-ordination exercises.
KGM - 3D MODELLING AND PRINTING — 8-12 years Children will learn how to design and model 3D objects from animals, to their favourite movies and video games. They will work towards moving pieces and anything else they can imagine! A 3D printer will be shown online for the students to see and learn how it works. Note: 3D models will be printed and distributed at an additional cost. Required: a computer (PC or Mac), microphone and speakers. These programs will be online via video conference where a Kids' Great Minds instructor will provide the live lessons. An email will be sent to families with a link to join the program, as well as software instructions. KGM - CARTOON COMPUTER ANIMATION — 7-11 years Dive into STEAM with animation technology. This program will enhance your child’s creativity and bring their inspiring stories to life incorporating the 12 principles of animation. In this program, children will animate their own characters, create animated shorts and a final cartoon movie while developing logical thinking skills. Required: an Apple© Ipad or Android Tablet is required for this program. A computer, microphone and speakers are required for the video. These programs will be online via video conference where a Kids' Great Minds instructor will provide the live lessons. CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAMS KGM - CARTOON DIGITAL ANIMATION — 10-14 years This course is for anyone who has artistic aspirations of creating stories through digital animation. Participants will incorporate the 12 principles of animation to animate their own characters, create animated shorts and a final cartoon movie. KGM- ADVENTURES IN INTERACTIVE PROGRAMMING — 8-11 years Get creative in a maker environment that blends arts, electronics and code! Experience the Makey Makey board; exploring beginner technological literacy, interactive games, musical instruments and amazing game controllers. Children will code, draw, build, and colour, helping programming to be contextual and fun. KGM - JR GAMES AND ANIMATION PROGRAMMING - FAMILY — 8-11 years Young children will learn beginner coding, allowing them to make their own characters come to life by programming them to move, jump, dance, sing and so much more. Children will learn problem solving, numeracy and literacy while still having fun! Required: 1 adult per child, along with an Apple© Ipad or Android Tablet. 55+ FUNCTIONAL FITNESS Come join us as we get our bodies moving and work on our strength, mobility and flexibility. It is recommended that you wear comfy clothes and proper footwear. Masks are mandatory! 55+ WALKING GROUP Come join us as we get our steps in at the EG Sports Complex! Whether you're looking to reach your daily fitness goal or want to walk with a friend, all participants are welcome! These walking sessions are 50 minutes long. It is recommended that you wear comfy clothes and proper footwear. Masks are mandatory! PICKLEBALL DROP IN A fast-growing paddleboard sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. All levels welcome! Personal paddle required*. LINE DANCING – BEGINNER This class is a great starting point for those who are new to line dancing or for those who want to just enjoy easier dances. Social dance steps will be taught to popular music in a relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on fun filled exercise. LINE DANCING – PROGRESSIVE Step up to the next level of line dancing fun! This welcoming class is for those who know the basic line dance steps and want a little more of a challenge - class will include some more complex dance patterns with a wider variety of turns.
YOGA — ESSENTIAL This practice builds healthy resilient bodies, increases vitality and trains our minds to be strong & flexible in the face of stress and change. Breathing techniques and meditation will give you a deep inner calm and self confidence to meet life’s challenges with grace. Appropriate for both the beginner and seasoned yoga student. YOGA — HATHA An introduction to Hatha Yoga is designed for students who are either new or returning to yoga. You will be guided by our instructor to gently explore basic postures and simple breathing techniques, followed by guided relaxation. Yoga imporoves your tone, helps strengthen and balance the body, and is ideal for counteracting the stresses of daily life. YOGA FIT An exciting new class format appropriate for those feeling inspired to take their practice to the next level. We will combine low impact cardio, working larger muscle groups to increase heart rate in an invigorating half hour, followed by a beautiful alignment -based vinyasa flow in the second half of our session. We will end with some heart-opening poses to leave you feeling open and relaxed. This class will improve fitness, strength, balance, and flexibility.
BARRE STRENGTH Barre Strength is inspired by ballet, yoga and pilates. It improves posture, strengthens and tones the body through low-impact and high intensity movements creating a lean physique. BOOTCAMP HOMESTYLE No equipment? No problem. This class focuses on strength, and endurance using body weight and things found at home. Join the instructor in a challenging yet fun workout that will create a healthy you. MOVE YOUR BODY What better way to keep in shape than moving your body. Our instructor will give you a workout geared to your body type and age. Stretching, toning, and strength building will be part of the exercise class. STRONG BONES This class is tailormade to build and maintain bone density with intensity using body weight, hand held weights, resistance bands and a variety of other tools. Feel stronger and walk taller. Ideal for people concerned with losing bone density.

ADULT & OLDER ADULT ACTIVE LIVING PROGRAMS YOUNG AT HEART Join us for a fun low impact cardio class that incorporates hand held weights, exercise bands, and other equipment. You will strengthen your muscles; improve your blood circulation and mobility. For encouragement and an hour of fun, you will not want to miss it. Beginners welcome! The Town encourages all participants to bring their own mat for hygienic reasons. TENNIS — ADULT BEGINNER Beginner lessons will focus on the technical aspects of tennis. Participants will learn about proper grips, forehands, backhands, volleys and serves. Our coaches are Tennis Canada certified and classes will have a maximum of 8 participants. 55+ TENNIS — BEGINNER This class is geared for players over 55 who are new to the game or would like to improve their fundamentals. This class uses green dot balls which are slightly decompressed allowing for a slightly slower bounce. Our coaches are Tennis Canada certified and classes will have a maximum of 8 participants. POWER PILATES Power your way through a focused Pilates session that will burn away fat and tone muscles. This workout emphasizes balance, control and core strength for optimal fat burning, as well as traditional Pilates mat work.
CARDIO FIT & TONE This class focuses on increasing the heart rate for an extended period of time, approximately 30min. With easy to follow, high or low impact moves, you will not require a lot of space. Weights, body weight, cans/bags of beans, and water bottles can all be used and will be incorporated for toning and strengthening muscles along with balance and good old fashioned stretch at the end. Running shoes and a mat are recommended for safety and support. CORE & MORE Exercises that will use your whole body while emphasizing your core and more! Your core includes all of the 4 areas of your abdominals, back, glutes and beyond. Strengthening your abs and back will improve your posture and balance and increase your flexibility so you can stand taller and move better! A mat, water bottle, weights, body weight or household items may all be used throughout this program. ZUMBA People of all ages are falling in love with Zumba's infectious music, easy-to-follow dance moves and body-sculpting benefits. Come dance to the rhythms of Salsa, Merengue, Reggaeton, and other Latin beats. This is a fitness class you will not want to miss! Ditch the routine, join the party!

STEAM | Outdoor Education | Camp Fun!
Register Now HILLTOP SUMMER DISCOVERY CAMP Campers looking for a fun way to spend their summer days will love our camp with its combination of traditional camp activities, STEAM projects and outdoor education. Pickering College has a long history of offering exceptional experiential education to students, and we are proud to incorporate these principles which build resilience and leadership in our camp program. Our camp is located on our main campus, a beautiful 42-acre space with ample outdoor recreation space including several wooded areas, four large fields, a baseball diamond, a rubberized surface track and several outdoor classrooms. Each week campers will visit our nearby Blue & Silver Farm for a full-day camp activity and cook-out day. Come join us for fresh air, healthy activity and to meet new friends!
