AS PART of its efforts to support the development of global industry standards and regulations, the

WWA has member representatives who are actively involved in ASTM International.

ASTM International is a globally recognized leader in the development and delivery of voluntary consensus standards. Today, more than 12,000 ASTM standards are used around the world to improve product quality, enhance health and safety, strengthen market access and trade and build consumer confidence.

The organization’s leadership in international standards development is driven by the contributions of its members: more than 30,000 of the world’s top technical experts and business professionals representing 140 countries.

ASTM Committee F24 on Amusement Rides and Devices was formed in 1978. F24 meets twice a year, usually in February and October, with approximately 350 members from around the world attending two or three days of technical meetings. Within ASTM Committee F24 are a dozen subcommittees, which address specific segments within the general subject area covered by the technical committee. ASTM F24.70 specifically focuses on Water Related Amusement Rides and Devices. The four existing standards that are under the F24.70 Subcommittee are: • F2376-21A - Standard Practice for Classification, Design, Manufacture, Construction, and Operation of Water Slide Systems • F2461-20A - Standard Practice for Manufacture, Construction, Operation, and Maintenance of Aquatic Play Equipment • F3133-21 - Standard Practice for Classification,

Design, Manufacture, Construction, Maintenance, and Operation of Stationary Wave Systems • F3158-21 - Standard Practice for Patron

Transportation Conveyors Used with a Water Related Amusement Ride or Device

These standards are available to purchase from ASTM International for as little as $57.

In addition to existing standards, there are two proposed standards currently being reviewed by the Subcommittee: • WK75193 - Classification, Design, Manufacture,

Construction, Maintenance, and Operation of

Wave Generation Equipment within Surf Venues • WK72594 - Standard Practice for obtaining

Acceleration Data on Water Slide Systems

Using Human Test Subjects
