I want to go fishing. Where can I do this, where can I get bait, and do I need a license?

I want to go camping. Where can I do that and what’s the campsite like? There is a designated camping area inside of Little Elm Park. It is $5/night/tent or $15/four nights/tent. You can pay with exact cash or credit card at a kiosk inside the camping area. This is a primitive camping site, so electricity and showers are not available. You may grill in the camping area, but all fires must be self-contained and not on the ground.

First things first, get your fishing license at Lakeview Grocery, which is across from the boat ramp. The good news is they also have bait! You can expect to fish for crappie, bass and catfish. Minnows are a great option for live bait. You can fish at Cottonwood Park, or around the boat ramp, but not off of the dock. The Lakeshore parking area, 1201 Lakeshore Dr., is also a great spot.

I have a boat! Tell me everything about your boat ramp. Use of the boat ramp is $10 for a day pass, or seasonal passes are $25 for a Little Elm resident or $75 for a non-resident. The boat ramp is the longest ramp on Lake Lewisville! There are restrooms, a wash station, an ice machine, and a courtesy dock available.

Can I bring my own paddleboard or kayak? You can easily launch off at Bridgeview Drive in Little Elm Park, behind the camp grounds near Johnny Broyles Trail. Parking is available at this location.

What’s an eFrog and how can I use one? eFrogs are the Lakefront’s seasonal shuttle service! Just text 214-356-4490 and let them know where you are and where you would like to go and they will arrange to pick you up. This is a free service, but tipping is always appreciated! eFrogs operate from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Hours are Friday 4 p.m. - 10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. - 10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m. - 9 p.m.

I’m hungry! Is there food at the beach? Lakefront Grill is a restaurant on the beach that serves up lots of tasty options. Around town there are many great restaurants like Hula Hut. To see the full list of options visit www.lakefrontlittleelm.com.

What else should I know about Little Elm Park? And there’s a marina? Cottonwood Creek Marina is a first class, family owned and operated marina right in the heart of Little Elm. They offer on-the-water boat storage, boat and jet ski rentals, and have a fuel dock and ships store. Call 972.292.1100 for information. Town of Little Elm 972-731-3296 www.lakefrontlittleelm.com

Little Elm Park is cooler-friendly, but no glass is allowed. There are 10 sand volleyball courts on the beach and two by the playground. There is a large roped off area for open swim, and we do provide free life jackets but life guards are not on duty. There are fire pits available, but you must bring your own firewood. No pets are allowed on the beach.
