LittleElmFun.org LittleElmLibrary.org LittleElmAnimals.org Resident/Non-resident A resident pays Town of Little Elm taxes. To confirm your status, visit www.dentoncad.com. The taxes help fund the Recreation Center. That is why a resident gets a discount on classes; their taxes have already helped supplement the cost. LITTLE ELM PARKS & TRAILS Little Elm is proud to boast 66-miles of shoreline and an intricate trail system that continues to expand. We maintain our parks and trails with pride and hope that everyone is able to visit Little Elm, be active, and see why we’re the Town With A Lake Attitude! We are also a Leave No Trace community. Before you hit one of our parks, trails, or Beach, read these tips: Heading out to hit a trail? Minimize impact and leave no trace with these tips: Know before you go. Learn about the trail you're visiting, what to expect and what you will see, and dress appropriately for your trip. Choose the right path. Stay on the main trail and avoid stepping on small trees and wildflowers. Trash your trash. Be sure to take any food and trash with you when you leave to minimize impact on wildlife and to keep the area beautiful for all users. Leave what you find behind. Leave plants, rocks, and other items as you find them so others can enjoy them, too! Please treat living plants with respect; do not peel, pick, or cut them. Respect wildlife. It is not uncommon to see wildlife in our parks and on our trails. Observe animals from a distance; do not approach, feed, or follow them. Keep your pets on a leash and clean up after them, too. 44

For general inquiries about the Town of Little Elm’s Aquatics program, please email aadams@littleelm.org. We try our best to ensure every child learns to swim and about water safety. Each child learns at his/her own pace and it cannot be guaranteed that all students will pass the level class. they are currently enrolled. They will be taught valuable safety skills and introduced to both simple and complexswimming skills.
Course: Parent/Child
Builds basic water safety skills for both parents and children, helping infants and young children ages 6 months to about 3 years become comfortable in the water so they are willing and ready to learn to swim. These basic skills include adjusting to the water environment, showing comfort while maintaining a front or back position in the water and demonstrating breath control, including blowing bubbles or voluntarily submerging under water. Parent’s Welcome Letter Welcome to the Town of Little Elm - Aquatics Program! Thank you for being a part of our swimming lessons in Little Elm. We look forward to offering this opportunity to the community each year. 1. Students should arrive at the scheduled time for their class. Please check in every day with your instructor. 2. Proper swim attire is required during swim lessons. Students are not allowed to wear personal floatation devices during their lessons. Students in parent/child classes must wear a swim diaper, and preschool students must be potty trained. 3. Instructors have a ten minute break. Ask questions about progress, what they can work on outside of class. 4. A parent or responsible adult can stay on site during swim lessons. We do not have a designated seating area, but we request you help us minimize distractions by refraining from interrupting class. If your child is experiencing separation anxiety, we may ask you to move out of sight from your child. 5. Classes will only be canceled due to severe weather which includes, but is not limited to, lightning in the immediate area, severe thunderstorms, hail, and excessive winds related to weather warnings. Classes ARE NOT always canceled due to rain or cool weather. Please call the Swim Lesson Inclement Weather Line at 972-784-0999 ext. 7, 30 minutes prior to your class time for inclement weather information. You may also access the rainout line via www.rainoutline.com (search Little Elm), or via the Rainout Line app. We will also have a rainout line scroll across the Aquatics page online at littleelm.org/1030/aquatics. Cancelled classes will be made up on Fridays or have time added to classes during the week. 6. Please do not call the Recreation Center for Aquatics weather updates. 7. No make-up classes (for classes missed by participants) will be provided or allowed. 8. If you are a member of the HOA, you are welcome to stay and swim but we ask those that are not a member of the HOA to please exit the pools after swim lessons. Siblings and or friends are not allowed to swim or play in the water during the lesson unless you are a member of the HOA where your lesson is held. Failure to comply with this rule can result in removal from Town of Little Elm Swim classes. 9. Please have your child dressed and ready to go at the start time of the lesson. Please apply sunblock to your child. No goggles, earplugs, etc. are necessary. 10. Please direct concerns to the Athletics and Aquatics Supervisor, Andy Adams, at aadams@littleelm.org. 11. No refunds will be processed after the first day of classes. We try our best to ensure every child learns to swim and water safety. Each child learns at his/her own pace and it cannot be guaranteed that all students will pass the level class they are currently enrolled. They will be taught valuable safety skills and introduced to both simple and complex swimming skills. 14
