MOUNTAIN LIVING We love living in the mountains, please help us to keep it beautiful by leaving only footprints and taking only memories when adventuring outdoors! Below are a few other things to remember about life in the mountains.
REDUCE
Please remember to turn off any lights and unplug any unused electronics or appliances before leaving the property.
REUSE
Please bring a reusable bag to the shops and markets in town. There is a plastic bag ban in the area that is observed by most businesses in the Town of Telluride and Mountain Village. Additionally, our tap water is filtered from fresh water sources just outside of town and is some of the best water one could consume. To decrease waste material, refilling a reusable water container is advised.
MOUNTAIN VILLAGE TRASH AND RECYCLING
Trash and recycling pickups occur every Monday. Trash is picked up between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. All trash must be out by 7:00 a.m. to avoid a missed pickup.
TOWN OF TELLURIDE TRASH AND RECYCLING
Trash and recycling pickups occur every Wednesday for addresses West of Pine Street and every Thursday for those East of Pine Street. Collection is provided at the alley in most cases. Trash and recycling containers should be placed at the edge of your property in the morning by 8:00 a.m. and removed by 6:00 p.m. **Please wash all recyclables and commingle glass, cans and #1-6 plastics together in recycle bin. Crushing cans and plastics will allow for more room in the bin. Please put copy paper, newsprint, magazines, envelopes, junk mail, and paperboard on top of these products.
8
MOUNTAIN LIVING A NOTE ON BEARS
Telluride and Mountain Village are located in bear habitat, and as a result bears occasionally venture in searching for food. Residents and visitors are encouraged to help bears stay wild by making human garbage unavailable to them. The Town of Telluride and the Town of Mountain Village encourage all citizens and visitors to take the below precautions with their trash and help save a bear’s life; • Avoid leaving garbage out that includes table scraps, fish or meat remnants, grease, fruit rinds, egg shells, pet food or anything sweet. • Rinse recycling bottles and cans. • Do not leave food in your vehicle. • Utilize trash compactors and garbage disposals for any food scraps. • Place any garbage in bear proof trash receptacle with clamps or locks secured.
ALTITUDE
Being at 8,750 feet while in the town of Telluride or 9,545 feet while in Mountain Village center, affects each person differently. Dehydration, light headedness, bloating, lack of appetite, headache, trouble sleeping, nose bleeds, fainting or vomiting can all be caused by the change in altitude. To avoid any problems please be sure to drink plenty of water (aim for half of your body weight in ounces of H2O daily), ease into activities like skiing or hiking, use a humidifier where available and eat regular meals. As there is less atmosphere to block out ultra violet rays, sun burn occurs more readily here – protect your skin and eyes by wearing SPF and sunglasses while enjoying the outdoors anytime of year. Alcohol may also affect some more acutely at altitude, so it is advisable to consume lower amounts while you acclimate and have a glass of water with each alcoholic beverage consumed.
IF YOU REQUIRE MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Call the Telluride Medical Center at 970-728-3848 or visit the Medical Center directly at 500 W. Pacific Street, just off Townsend Avenue in the Town of Telluride. For all medical emergencies, dial 911.

HYPERCLEAN PROGRAM HYPERCLEAN BY EXCEPTIONAL STAYS The safety of our guests, homeowners, and team members remains top of mind with our HyperClean by Exceptional Stays program. It is our goal to ensure all Exceptional Stays guests and homeowners feel confident and comfortable when they join us in Telluride. After consulting with industry experts, and researching World Health Organization and CDC guidelines to develop HyperClean by Exceptional Stays early-on in 2020, we quickly adapted and implemented the program. What does HyperClean by Exceptional Stays mean?
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
- Educational signage, as provided by San Miguel County, is shared both in guest communication prior to arrival as well as in-home, giving owners and guests the appropriate resources and information necessary to stay informed and secure. - Our guest arrival token COVID-19 appropriate items such as cloth masks, personal hand sanitizer, and other necessities. - All decorative bedding/comforters were replaced with white duvet covers which will allow for bleaching and commercial cleaning methods to take place between every stay. - Our housekeeping team executes our new and thorough sanitation and disinfection practices in addition to our spotless cleaning. This ensures the safety of owners, guests, and Exceptional Stays team members. Exceptional Stays Team - Exceptional Stays has researched the most effective cleaning products against COVID-19 and have integrated those products alongside new, more stringent, and detail-oriented cleaning procedures to ensure a safe stay for owners and guests. - The Exceptional Stays team was briefed and trained on all new policies, as well as San Miguel County health orders and recommendations, WHO and CDC guidelines, and abides by these lists of standards. - Proper PPE is worn by all team members on the Property Management and Housekeeping Services teams. 15
