Government The City of Portage, the seat for Columbia County, is a full-service municipality providing a range of excellent public services, such as street maintenance, refuse and recycling, library, water, public safety and recreation. Municipal government for the City of Portage consists of the Mayor, City Administrator, Business Development & Planning Director and nine elected alderpersons. Portage City Hall, 115 West Pleasant St., is the home to all municipal services, including police and fire department and TRIAD, where law enforcement and seniors meet and work together to enhance their quality of life and ensure their needs are met in the community. Seniors also meet for a catered lunch Monday through Friday at the senior dining center inside the Aging and Disability Resource Center in the new Columbia County Administration Building.
