Townsville Stories

Place Stories A new venture from members of the Townsville Writers and Publishers Centre. Place Stories reveals the personal and historical significance of locations in and around Townsville, including Flinders Mall, the Rock Pool and the old Townsville Hospital in North Ward. You can view these stories on this website or by scanning a QR code at the location where each story is set. To highlight these QR codes, local artist, Michelle Hall, has created artworks inspired by the stories and locations. By finding and scanning these QR codes with a smart phone, readers will have the opportunity to see these places from a different point of view. Write Cafe Write Cafe was a series of residencies for emerging and professional writers at cafés around Townsville, beginning in April 2014. These residencies gave the writers a unique opportunity to develop their creative practice, share their stories and engage with the wider community within vibrant public spaces.
