Weber Land & Cattle 2039 County Highway 13 Lake Benton, MN 56149 WWW.WEBERLANDANDCATTLE.COM
On behalf of our family, we would like to personally invite everyone to visit us on March 9, 2021. This is our 24th year trying to raise the best Red Angus cattle in the most strict environments. For us, quality cattle have never been the exception; they are the rule. Good cattle always bring a premium. While we sell a unique set of heifers each year, don’t let that distract you from the rest of story. I welcome you to tour the cow herd and replacement heifers. We have nothing to hide and know it will be worth your time. Over the years, I’ve run Weber Land and Cattle with a “common sense” approach to breeding cattle. They need to breed up, have good feet and udders, be low imput and wean a big calf. No excuses. We’ve sent some great ones to town that didn’t fit the bill. Longterm, I always figured, its cheaper than sending them to the customer. A combination of power, balance on paper and performance on pasture are what we strive for. If you get the catalog and like what you see, give me a call. Good cattle, honesty and trust have built the WEBR program to what it is today and I’d love the opportunity to earn your business.

Guide to Genetic Data PRO S Profitability and Sustainability is an all-purpose index that predicts average economic differences in all segments in the beef supply chain. This index is a combination of the breeding objectives modeled in the HerdBuilder and GridMaster selection indexes. In this index, replacement heifers are retained from within the herd and all remaining progeny are fed out to slaughter and sold on a quality-based grid. Traits included in this index include calving ease, growth, HPG, STAY, Mature Weight, Dry Matter Intake and carcass traits. The resulting index is expressed in dollars per head born (Index/High Value).
HB HerdBuilder is a maternal selection index that predicts the economic differences of animals for traits that are important from conception through weaning. Expressed as dollars per head born, HB is calculated based on the scenario that bulls are mated to heifers and cows, replacement heifers are retained and all remaining progeny are marketed at weaning. Traits included in the HB index include Calving Ease Direct, Calving Ease Maternal, Weaning Weight, Milk, Mature Weight, Heifer Pregnancy and Stayability (Index/High Value).
GM GridMaster is a selection index that predicts the average economic difference of non-replacement calves through the postweaning phase of production. GM places selection pressure on growth, feedyard performance and carcass traits. Expressed as dollars per head born, GM is calculated based on the scenario that progeny are fed out to slaughter and marketed on a quality-based carcass grid. Traits included in GM include Average Daily Gain, Carcass Weight, Dry Matter Intake, Marbling, Back Fat and Rib Eye Area (Index/ High Value).
CED
Calving Ease Direct predicts differences in the percent of calves born unassisted out of 2-year-old dams. (Percent/High Value)
BW
Birth Weight predicts differences in actual birth weight of progeny. (Pounds/Low Value)
WW
Weaning Weight predicts differences in 205-day weaning weight. (Pounds/High Value)
YW
Yearling Weight predicts differences in 365-day yearling weight. (Pounds/High Value)
MILK
Milk predicts differences in weaning weight attributed to the milking ability of the animal’s daughters. (Pounds/High Value)
STAY
Stayability predicts differences in the ability of an animals’ retained daughters to remain productive in the herd – calve every year – through 6 years of age. (Percent/High Value)
MARB REA
Marbling predicts differences in marbling score – amount of intramuscular fat measured at the 13th rib. (Marbling Score Units/High Value) Ribeye Area predicts differences in square inches of ribeye area measured at the 13th rib.(Square Inches/High Value)

MATERNAL BROTHER TO LOT 1
This guy has been on my radar since day 1. His mother is a “no miss” cow. Her first two sons bring $9,500 and $10,000. Plus, her one of a kind daughters first calf sells here as 105H. 59H is a cover-all-thebases beef bull to will work in countless scenarios. He couples EPD spread, actual data and the “Stop and Stare” phenotype that we strive for. He’ll make heavy sons and keeper daughters. Bold sprung, loose made and sound cattle never go out of style! Breed for balance. Ratios: 99 BW, 109 WW, 111 YW, 125 IMF, 98 BF, 107 RE

FULL SISTER TO DAM OF LOT 2
I’ve told visitors all summer and fall that I think this Brando son is of the best built animals we have ever raised. From a structure standpoint these Brando’s are impeccable. Perfect in their hock and even better angle to their pastern, with toes that point due north. To have this much phenotype and to still have 8 EPDs in the top 1/3 of the breed we are more than excited to start using him. His mother is a second calf heifer and she is a full sister to Reform. Her Beartooth bull calf last year sold to Wehri, WY.
Brando Brando has caused some stir the last few years, especially with customers since I quit selling semen. He consistently sires quality. He stamps his progeny with extra dimension while keeping feet and legs impeccable. Numerically, his growth EDP’s have been trending up and birth weight down. We sold 10 units of semen on our fall sale for $250/unit. These sons and daughters speak for themselves. Stop in and see him sometime. He doesn’t look like your average 6 year old Red Angus bull. march 9, 2021 in lake benton, mn

Lot 3 Another Brando that is hard to put a hole in. Long, level, super smooth with a great set of running gear. He has enough performance to make a heavy set of steers, matched with a killer look, 78H is bound to raise some awesome daughters! His mother is no stranger to raising the elite. On 5 calves she has an MPPA of 107 while posting ratios of BW 106, WW 109 and 109 YW. She was our pick of the bred heifers at VF Red Angus, OR in 2016. A $20,000 full sister sold to the Bragg family, TX in 2018 and a $7,500 Cowboy Kind sister to Wilkerson, TN in 2019. Herd bull.

Here is a long, extended Brando son that balances with the best. He brings tremendous growth with a modest birth weight. He’s out of a moderate cow with top end maternal traits. His maternal brother was a top seller in the 2018 sale. This bull has a long, atheltic build and will cover ground.

Power of both sides of the pedigree here. 137H’s mother was at the top end of the replacements and hasn’t looked back. Her first calf was our high selling heifer in 2019. Her mother is S227 which we have retained 5 daughters. This Brando is chock-full of meat and sports a really nice spread from birth to yearling. With a 93 BW, 103 WW and 103 YW all wrapped up to give her a 104 MPPA at a young age.

Every good bull comes from a great cow. 58H is no exception. His mother, 633, is ideal. She breeds up early, weans heavy and stamps them with look. 58H is wide, deep bodied, with a great hip and hind leg. Hard to put a hole in this one. You’ll find him sale day!
Halestorm Real world beef bull. Halestorm was an outlier for growth in his group and never looked back. Combine that with excellent balance, deep rib, loose made and ample amounts of quality feet and bone work. They’re going to be bigger framed and they are not going to be 55lb-60lb calves! Use him to inject power and performance while keeping quality in check. Ward & Robinson averaged $6,500 on four Halestorm heifers last fall. Owned with McDonald Red Angus. Semen for sale.

896X has had a major impact on our program. With 18 recorded progeny and 5 retained daughters we put a lot of stock in her! Not only is she one of the best looking cows on the place but drops an udder at another level. It doesn’t matter the mating, she clicks. Halestorm brought extra mass and bone power. 76H will be a definite “must see” on March 9th. In my opinion, the breed needs more bulls like him. Dark red, high volume with powerful hip and hind leg. His mother has a unique pedigree with Bon View Gammer, Grand Canyon, Rambo and New Trend all known for their maternal merit. With eight calves on file, Y173 posts a 362 day calving interval! 103 BW, 106 WW, 105 YW ratios and a 105 MPPA.

Excellent type and kind paired with big sound feet. He is bigger framed with a smooth front end. His mother is ideal sized who will breed up and wean them heavy. DAM OF LOT 21 PICTURED AT 12 YEARS OF AGE
24H is a “real world” beef bull. He is bold sprung, loose made with an awesome set of running gear. He comes out of 849, which is a 13 year old Doc Holiday daughter, and she is flat out good. She has 11 progeny with a 361 day calving interval! She ratio’s 98 BW, 105 WW, 102 YW and 104 MPPA. She calved here in January 2021 and, rest assured, her heifer calf is not for sale!
Brilliance This is the first set of sons to sell by R500 and we are impressed. We bought into him for foot quality, great type and kind and outcross pedigree. His registration paper boasts a lot of great black angus bulls like Brilliance 8077, Mytty IN Focus, Traveler 004, Connealy Thunder and Twin Valley Precision E161. These sons are loose made, long, deep and carry a good, dark hoof. Owned with Red Diamond Land and Cattle, TX.

BROTHER TO LOT 26
129 is a Beartooth heifer bull which has got the goods. Great head, neck and a flat shoulder make his CED come to life. With 367 and the Scarlett cow family backing him, he will have plenty of cow power when you get them in production. These cattle are highly predictable.
Beartooth With 326 recorded progeny as of 2/15/2021, along with first hand customer reports, Beartooth has made a big impact. We’ve sold 46 sons to purebred and commercial breeders alike. General consensus, they calve easy, have great vigor and explode from there! They are super complete, well balanced cattle. Couple that with Top 7% BW, Top 17% CED, Top 12% GM and Top 17% ProS and its a damn cool combination. Both bulls and heifers have historically been high sellers. This is the third set of daughters we have calved and the udders are textbook. He’s not your typical heifer bull! march 9, 2021 in lake benton, mn

His mother has been a staple around here with a granddaughter bringing $9,500 in the fall sale to Lentz, IA. Bigger cow that gets it done with a 106 MPPA. A Beartooth brother also sold to Stubbs, KS in 2019 for $7,500.
