ANNUAL FUND REPORT 2017-2018

“Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Ephesians 3:20-21

FROM THE CHAIRMAN As I reflected on this year’s Above and Beyond Annual Fund Campaign, I reread of God’s providence, power, and praise in Ephesians 3:20-21. He is our Provider.

We began our campaign with the monetary goal of $500,000 and 100% participation goal for faculty, staff, and families. Through generosity and faithfulness, God brought

$741,630 to the school this year. Although we did not achieve 100% participation from families, we did break participation records. Family participation reached 53%, and faculty and staff were “all in” at 95%.

With your donations, SACS continues to enhance our beautiful sixty-acre campus. Soon, the old maintenance shed

will vanish, providing a much more aesthetically pleasing view from the Central Office Parking Lot. Facets of a new security initiative began in May, partially supported by the Annual Fund. Stronger fencing and a graphic privacy

screen on Redland Road added security and curb appeal. A sustainable garden is growing at the elementary school. New Christian worldview science curriculum and textbooks will be adopted next year for 1st – 8th grade.

The ever-expanding band program has been blessed with new instruments. The Student Life Center has upgraded microphones and audio to support fine arts, chapel, and worship. Transportation for students to field trips and

athletic competitions is simplified and made safer with two large passenger vans. Elementary classroom instruction is improved with Surface Pros, projectors and screens.

Theatre students have new curriculum, the middle school science department has salt water aquariums, and the cinematography class has new lighting. Finally, support is given to our inaugural 4H Club, the fastest growing

such Club in all of San Antonio. This list will grow in abundance as the school carefully allocates all monies at the appropriate time, displaying the utmost stewardship of our monetary blessings.

As verse 21 praises “to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen”, I am reminded of the body of Believers that make up San Antonio Christian School. Though members of

many different churches, we are also members of the Church. Together we raise the name of Jesus above all names.

The Christian education presented to our children will bless them immensely, including the generations that follow. Your generosity and participation in this year’s Annual Fund is integral to that blessing. As Chairman of this year’s

Development Committee, I extend a sincere thank you to all the faculty and staff, families, and businesses that went “Above and Beyond” to make SACS great. In His Service,

Dave Youngdale

ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN

As you look through this Annual Report, my prayer for you is twofold. First, I pray that you would see God’s faithfulness to San Antonio Christian School. Secondly, I hope you will give thanks to the Lord for the many faithful faculty, staff, and parents we affectionately refer to as Family. Being a member of the SACS Family is a tremendous blessing. Thank you for partnering together for the past forty-six years to provide students a Christ-centered education while fostering a life of faith and service.

Naviance Program for Guidance Department Our HS Guidance Counselors spend much more time talking with students and much less time on paperwork, thanks to Naviance. We now securely send student applications, transcripts, letters of recommendation, school profiles and more, electronically to colleges and universities. The Naviance Program also helps students explore their interests and strengths and develop a major field of study that matches long-term goals with an actionable plan. It is a tremendous resource for our high school students. Thank you, Annual Fund!

• Funding teacher professional development across the school’s three divisions • Advancing athletic teams, arts programs, and co-curricular programs

• Maintaining our beautiful campus throughout every season of the year

ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS An anonymous donor pledged $1 million for the installation of an artificial turf and track surface at Lion Pride Stadium. Football and soccer competed for the first time on Greg Hotchkiss Memorial Field, while the boys and girls track teams ran away with district titles on the new track. The entire school benefitted from the synthetic surfaces, with everyone from elementary PE classes to parents walking for exercise utilizing the all-weather facilities. Numerous schools from across the region have flocked to our campus for the opportunity to compete on our most excellent field. A second anonymous gift of $220,000 has been received to purchase artificial turf for the baseball field. Middle school and high school baseball, soccer, and football eventually will benefit from year-round use of the field once a fundraising campaign is completed to install the artificial surface. SACS family, we are always so thankful and grateful for the many gifts God provides to our school through loving people who continue to share their blessings. May we continue walking as faithful stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to us.

SACS Athletic Booster Club

The SACS Athletic Boosters are dedicated families who embody the heart of Lion Pride. This year 247 families joined the Booster Club and helped provide over $100,000 in financial support for our athletic programs. In the past year, the Booster Club has provided new uniforms, a state of the art video board scoring system in the high school gym, paid for the hotel expenses of all of our state tournament qualifiers, provided rings for all of our state champions, and continued to offer free letter jackets for varsity letter winners. We are grateful for the tremendous support our athletic programs receive from the Athletic Booster Club.

“

I participate in the Annual Fund every year. I graduated two children from SACS and am now preparing for college graduations. I greatly value the Christian education they received at SACS. As an elementary teacher, I see the fruit of the Annual Fund every day. The technology and resources that are at our disposal enable us to bring enrichment and a margin of excellence to our students. When everyone participates in the Annual Fund, we all benefit. Sue Perry, Elementary Faculty
