What to consider when selecting a bath
Whether you have a growing family or you’re wanting to add a touch of luxury to your bathroom, raymor’s range of baths will make a stunning centrepiece in any home. Whichever family of products you choose, raymor can transform your bathroom at any budget.
Bath installation types
Freestanding
A freestanding bath or spa bath has no limitations on where they can be installed, making them extremely versatile. It is recommended that a 150-300mm gap be left around the bath to allow for easy access and cleaning.
Inset
Ideal for a bathroom that lacks space or can be used for a shower over the bath. They require a tile bead around the edges so it can be fully integrated into the tiled wall.
Island
It can be set away from all walls and positioned anywhere in the bathroom in its own hob, creating an ‘island’ style focal point. If replacing an existing island bath, take note of the depth of the existing bath hob when choosing a replacement.
Back-to-Wall
These baths sit back, flush against the tiled wall so there is no need to worry about that extra space allowance around the edge of the bath. Backto-wall baths create a lux look when you don’t have the room for a freestanding bath.
Back-to-Wall Corner
Like a Back-to-Wall bath these baths sit flush against the tiled wall but also are designed to sit flush in a corner to save space and make cleaning easier. With both left and right corner options available. The clever design is a good alternative to inset baths as the steel support frame has height-adjustable selfsupporting feet, for much easier & quicker installation.
Bath features
Material
Look for an acrylic bath, these are smooth and comfortable, as well as non-porous, making them easy to clean. Acrylic retains heat and does not get as cold as other bathroom materials, such as tile and marble. All raymor baths are acrylic.
Size
Our baths range from 1400mm to 1800mm. If you like to relax and soak in a tub but have a small space to work with consider going for a smaller bath or a shower tub combo to help save space without needing to compromise.
Plug & Waste
The Plug & Waste are sold separately from the raymor baths, so that you can match colours to your tapware. Consider the raymor Pop Up Wastes with Hair Catcher. These have a removable centre which makes them suitable to use in baths.
Tips for selecting a bath
Know who and how the bath will be used
Deep, freestanding baths are difficult for children and older people to climb into. If you’re bathing children, reaching over a deep bath may also be difficult. If you plan on having long, relaxing baths, make sure it’s comfortable for your neck and back. Make sure the tallest user can stretch out in it.
Go matchy matchy Measure, measure, measure
Measure where your drainage is. If you’re replacing your bath you are really limited by your drainage unless you have the budget to move the pipes.
Measure where your taps are – don’t get a bath that’s higher than your taps.
When designing your new bathroom, make sure the bath you want fits. Not all walls can be assumed to be absolutely vertical or square, so measure the distance between the walls at the height at which the bath is longest and widest.
When measuring unplastered or untiled walls make sure you take the finishing depth into account before choosing a bath.
The shape of your bath should complement your basin if they’re in the same room. It helps to choose items from the same brand. That way you know the colours are an exact match too – not all whites are the same. You don’t want mismatching whites bugging you for years to come!
Check your weight
Some baths will need structural support in the floor to handle the weight of the filled bath. Get a professional to do the inspection before locking in your bath choice. Are you getting it delivered or collecting in store? Some baths are really heavy so consider how you’re going to get the bath to your home. We have convenient delivery options available.
