A Life Well Lived Floyd Caro, a beloved son, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of God, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023, in Austin, Texas, at the age of 90. He was born on August 14, 1933, in Cedar Creek, Texas, to Mr. Samson and Mrs. Narvel Caro. Floyd was the tenth and last surviving child in a family of ten siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. His early years were marked by his deep devotion to Christ, accepting the Lord into his heart and living a life dedicated to his faith. Deciding to leave school early, Floyd joined the workforce to support his siblings in achieving their educational goals and degrees. His commitment to family and education was profound. In the journey of his life, Floyd met the love of his life, Viola Lee Washington, and they were united in marriage on June 12, 1955. From this union, two children were born, Sharon Caro-Ross (Shelton) and Floyd Caro Jr. (Rebecca). Viola passed away, and Floyd found love once again, marrying Darla Herron on January 25, 1994. Floyd was a dedicated and long-standing member of Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a proud member of the choir. Later, he became a part of Willie Chapel Church, where he found a final home for his faith. He worked diligently for 30 years at Southern Union Gas Company, and upon retirement, Floyd embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved to laugh, sing, dance, and fully live every moment. He was known for his kindness, fairness, and caring nature. Floyd was a devoted father to his children, Sharon CaroRoss (Shelton) and Floyd Caro Jr. (Rebecca), and an exceptional, hands-on grandfather to seven grandchildren: Patrick Caro, Blyné Ross (Eric), Kellie Ross-McCullough (Mike), Ashley Ross (Joe), Desmond Ross (Patricia), Alexis Walden (Brennan), and Zerrian Caro. In addition to his grandchildren, Floyd leaves a legacy of love with 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished loved ones. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, larger-than-life personality, and genuine care for others. Floyd Caro will forever be in our hearts, and his spirit will live on in the lives of those he loved and touched. May he rest in eternal peace and joy in the presence of the Lord.

Tributes of Love My “Superman” Superman, a symbol of justice and world peace, is a name we all recognize, embodied by the heroic Clark Kent. Yet, to me, my father is the true superhero. He selflessly halted his education to care for his mother and siblings following his father’s passing. He dedicated himself entirely to his family—his wife, his children, and was always on call, 24-7, for his beloved grandchildren. He never once let me down, and his unwavering support and love lifted me up, enabling me to see the world more clearly through his eyes. Dad, our talks meant the world to me, and I cherish the memories we made. I will forever miss you. With love, Your Daughter,

Sharon

My Uncle Floyd, My Friend I may not have another chance, on bended knee to pray, so I thank God, with a humble heart forgive me this day. Floyd Caro was my dear Uncle, he also was my friend, we would talk on the phone from evening to night’s end. I would go get him and we would ride here and there, not worried about anything, just riding without a care. He would exercise compassion, help the fallen to their feet. He was a friend to the friendless, he mad an empty life complete. Floyd Caro Sr. was my Uncle, he was my friend. I love you Uncle Floyd... until we meet again.

With love, Your Niece,

Mary Narvel Byrd

A tribute to our Gramps As we say our last goodbyes, we want you to know that you will always live on in our hearts. Our grandfather was a perfect example of what it means to be a family man. He will be missed, but his legacy lives on within his family. You’re gone from this world Paw Paw/ Gramps, but you will always be present in our hearts. Paw Paw, we hope that you are proud of your branch and the fruit it has borne because you were a great gardener.

Grandfather Kept a Garden Our Grandfather kept a garden, A garden of heart; He planted all the good things, That gave our lives their start. He turned us to the sunshine, And encouraged us to dream: Fostering and nurturing the seeds of self esteem. And then the winds and rain came, He protected us enough; But not too much because he knew We would stand up strong and tough. His constant good example, Always taught us right from wrong; Markers for our pathway that will last a lifetime long. We are our Grandfather’s garden, We are his legacy. Thank you Grandfather, we love you. - Author Unknown
