TRAIL BLAZERS GAME PROGRAM • BLAZERDANCER FEATURE

ANNA YEARS AS A BLAZERDANCER: 4

WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO DANCE?

WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?

At the beginning of my dance career, I had the most phenomenal dance teacher, Sioux, who helped me fall in love with the community dance creates and the self-expression that came with it. She showed me my passion and I can’t imagine my life without dance.

Laughing at stand-up comedy shows. I like to run; I did Hood to Coast for the first time this year. Such a blast! I also love to try new restaurants in Portland. We have some of the best food!

WHAT ARE SOME LITTLE-KNOWN FACTS ABOUT YOURSELF YOU WANT OTHERS TO KNOW? I love to dance salsa and bachata! There are so many fun places to dance in Portland; I just love the salsa community here! Traveling is another passion of mine. I have been around the US, Europe and South America with friends and on my own. My solo travels have been some of my favorite memories! I also adopted a dog recently and named her Phoebe… yes, after the Friends character!

IF YOU COULD GIVE ADVICE TO ASPIRING YOUNG DANCERS, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL THEM? Don’t be afraid to fail, be afraid to not try! Try a new style, try a new trick, try out for that dance team you’ve been following on Instagram (we all have at least one). Put yourself out there to experience new things and you will be surprised at what will come of it.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE AS A BLAZERDANCER? There are so many memories that come flooding to my mind! Still, the most memorable experience for me will always be running out on to the court, every single game, with my Dad sitting center court. For those who may not know, my dad is the PA Announcer in the arena, and is the voice who says “Your BlazerDancers!” every time we go on and off the court! It’s the most special experience in the world. I will never forget how unique it is that we can share the experience of performing at Blazers games together! 29

PRIDE NIGHT Join us for our third annual Rip City Pride Night on Wednesday, November 28th as the Trail Blazers take on the Orlando Magic! Purchase a Trail Blazers game ticket at trailblazers.com/pride to gain access to an exclusive pregame event starting at 5pm

The Trail Blazers are dedicated to positively impacting the lives of children and families who have been historically underserved, where they live, learn and play. The Trail Blazers Foundation gives grants and scholarships to nonprofits, schools, and youth and is funded through meaningful corporate partnerships with Wells Fargo, Nike, Moda Health, Avangrid Foundation, and revenue from Trail Blazers license plate sales, 5050 raffle and other fundraising efforts. During the 2017-18 season, Trail Blazers Inc. and the Trail Blazers Foundation donated over 1 million dollars to support local youth.

The Trail Blazers believe our home court extends far beyond the arena and everything we do in our lives makes an impact, so we encourage fans to join us in our efforts to protect our planet and our community to ensure a brighter future for generations to come.

The Trail Blazers are committed to seeing all youth graduate from high school by supporting programs, investing resources, and raising awareness of successful youth and the schools and organizations that help them effectively navigate their academic journeys.

The Trail Blazers are committed to ensuring that youth have positive early experiences playing basketball by running year-round camps and clinics, supporting existing programs, and investing resources in the community that provide access to sport.
