County league resumes this weekend with a match against old rivals, Austin Stacks, at Strand Road. Division 6 team also in action against Beaufort on Sat evening at Strand Road.

Masters Challenge:

Congratulations to Declan Quill on Kerry ladies national league win.

Kerry:

All-Ireland champions Kerry start their title defence against Tipperary on Saturday, April 22, with the Munster semi-final at Fitzgerald Stadium. Munster final against Clare or Limerick on May 7, with the decider expected to take place in Limerick.

Phenomenal… the destination of the Lidl, division 1,Ladies National League Football final became known last Saturday evening in Croke Park when our county’s senior players met Galway. What a magical year it has been so far for the Kerry Senior ladies, management, the senior executive and our club vice chair and Kerry ladies joint manager Declan Quill. Last Saturday, we watched an incredible game of football and I am sure that most of us were blown away by every element of our senior ladies performance.

Austin Stack Club:

Austin Stacks Minor Football team has won the club’s seventh Co. League title after a comprehensive win over Laune Rangers in Fitzgerald Stadium. The match held on Monday evening was significant as it marked exactly 50 years since the team’s first title in 1973. The team’s mentors were William Kirby, Ritchie Conway, Shane Lucid, and Dave Scanlon. In other news, the Paul Lucey Run for the Rock event will be held on May 1st followed by a family fun day. The run will start at 11 am from the entrance of the Austin Stacks Clubhouse and registration is available online or on the morning of the event. The senior football team will face Kerins O’Rahillys in Strand Road for round 4 of the Co. League on Sunday, April 23, while the B Team will play Finuge at 2 pm. The U11 County Go-Games is scheduled for Thursday, April 20th, while the U13 County League will resume on Tuesday. The U15 team had a disappointing game against Listowel Emmets, while the County League games for U15 have been rescheduled for May 3rd. Lastly, the minor team played against Laune Rangers in Staid an Ghearaltaigh, Killarney, on Monday. All players are expected to attend training on Friday and Sunday at Connolly Park. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TADGH. He played Club Football back in the 1960s. He succeeded the late Frank King as Club Chairman in 1976 and today he is one of the regular members attending Club games, usually with his good friend Jim Gannon. We refer to Tadgh McMahon (father of Tim and Elma Nix) who celebrates his 80th birthday on this Thursday (20th April). Happy birthday Tadgh from all in the Club and the local community.

JOHN MITCHELS CLUB NOTES

Senior Men:

The senior men of John Mitchels are set to play against Knocknagoshel at home on the 23rd of April for the 4th round of the County League. The match will start at 2 PM, and the club encourages everyone to come and show their support.

Senior Men Development League:

On Friday evening, the senior development squad of John Mitchels played against Ballymac B at home under lights at 8 PM. It was an excellent game, and John Mitchels emerged victorious. Congratulations to the team, coaches, and everyone involved. The details for the next round will be announced soon.

Senior Ladies:

John Mitchels played against Kilcummin for the 2nd round of the Donal Curtin Cup, and unfortunately, the home team lost 1-06 to 3-10. At half-time, the scores were 1-.4 to 1.03. Despite the result, John Mitchels can take a lot of positives from the day. The club had 20 players at their disposal, which is a huge positive for the promotion of the game for the club at a senior level. The club will resume training on Thursday night to prepare for Round 3 of the competition.

Under 12 Girls:

The under 12 girls were excited to attend the training session last Thursday, knowing that their first game in the North Kerry League was scheduled for next Tuesday night away to Finuge/St. Senans. The coaches are delighted with the number of players committing to training sessions, and skill levels are improving every session.

ST PATS GAA CLUB UPDATE: Juvenile Academy

Our Juvenile Academy is back at MTU North Campus (Eircode V92HDV4) from 12pm-1pm. Open to all boys and girls from under 5 up to Under 13. Scór Na Páistí

Well done to the kids who represented St Pats in Scór na Pàistí this week in instrumental music and solo singing. The competition was very enjoyable, and we look forward to having even more children in next year’s events in all categories.

Seniors

Our Seniors are scheduled to play in their Credit Union County Senior Football League Round 4 against Cromane in Cromane on Sunday 23rd of April at 2pm. Please keep an eye for any changes in O Shea’s Gala, Byrnesworth and St Pats Old Clubhouse.

Senior B’s

Our Senior Bs were scheduled to play in their Development League Division 4 Round 2 against Sneem/ Derrynane B in Blennerville on Sunday 16th of April at 2pm, this match did not take place.

To Michael Moriarty and his Badminton partner Laura O Connor who were Division 5 Winners who were presented with the Michael Corridin Garage Shield last week.

To Kerry Ladies who won against Galway in Ladies National Football League Division 1 Final Last weekend.

KINGDOM SWIMMING CLUB UPDATES:

Kingdom Invitational Gala on April 22nd-23rd is a two-day event where clubs from Munster compete for Kingdom Medals. It is also an opportunity for Age 12-14 swimmers to attain Summer National Qualification times and qualification times for the Munster Long Course Championships in Limerick on May 5th-7th.

Mona McSharry, an Irish Olympic Swimmer, will visit Kingdom Swimming Club on May 2nd to hold a Breaststroke Clinic for the swimmers and a Q&A session. Upcoming Galas include the Munster Long Course Championship on May 7th-9th at UL and the Michael Bowles Invitational Gala on May 27th-28th at Douglas.

Tralee Parnells

CLUB UPDATES:

Senior Hurling: Parnells’ North Kerry Intermediate Hurling League match vs St Brendans was called off. They start their County League campaign with a home game against Ballyheigue B in Caherslee on Wednesday at 7pm.

Scór na nÓg - Munster Final: Parnells’ Trath na gCeist team qualified for the All Ireland Final in Killarney on 6th May after being pipped by 1 point for the Munster title for the second year in a row. Scór na bPaistí: Several Parnells’ participants in Scór na bPaistí made it through to the county finals, which will take place on April 29th.

Kerry Camogie: Parnells congratulated the Kerry Camogie team and two of their own players, Ciara Maloney and Katie Dwyer, on winning the Division 2 National League Final in Croke Park last Sunday against Meath.

Kerry Ladies Football: Parnells also congratulated the Kerry Ladies on winning the Division 1 National League title in Croke Park last Saturday.

Kerry U20s: Parnells’ players Cillian Litchfield and Tadhg Reen played with the Kerry U20 hurlers against Laois in the final round of the Leinster Championship last Saturday in Portlaoise.

Kerry Seniors: Parnells congratulated the Kerry Senior Hurling team and their player Tadhg Brick on their great performance against Carlow in the second round of the Joe McDonagh cup last weekend.

Tralee Chess Club Notes

Tralee Chess Club beat Cork B 5/0 on Sunday in Charleville in round 7 of the Munster Chess League.Yunis Barudi, Oleksandr Zakcadndyi both from Ukraine won on boards 1 and 2.Mirko Kopic from Croatia won on board 3.Paul Shanahan from Tralee won on board 4 . Michael Wycherley from Mullingar was also successful on board 5 to give Tralee a resounding win.Tralee play Galway at 4,in what should be a tight match,in a best of 5 contest.. This result saw Tralee promoted to Division 1 with 2 rounds remaining.
