Action: BSY to provide covering for the door. Shipkeepers require a holster across their body for the radio as clips break which have the potential to lead to lost radios. Action: SHEQ to source a vest or holster to trial.

Balmain Shipyard Vessel Movements (Red Ball) Nov. 2017 The ‘Red Ball’ procedure at the Balmain Shipyard is critical to ensuring the Safety of the Shipyard staff that work in the dry dock. During recent consultation with the Work Health and Safety Representatives (from both Operations and BSY), a revised Risk Assessment on vessel movements in front of the dock (Red Ball) procedure was conducted and the procedure reviewed. The revisions to the Red Ball Procedure affect the BSY Controllers. For Vessel Masters approaching BSY, starting Main Engines and Departing anywhere at BSY, the requirement remains to Always contact the BSY Controller for approval prior to proceeding regardless of where the vessel is berthed or will be berthed.
