LET’S CELEBRATE THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO TO DELIVER AN OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO OUR CUSTOMERS.

WELCOME TO THE NEXT EDITION OF TRANSXPRESS Hello Journey Makers,
The theme of this edition is celebration – and what a lot we have to celebrate as a team. This quarter, the first of our new buses arrived at our North Fitzroy Depot and entered service on track runs. While we are still finalising arrangements for the stabling of these new buses with the Department of Transport, these buses have already begun to transform our fleet, allowing us to deliver a significantly improved experience for our people and our customers. We have loved reading your feedback about the new buses on the mytransdev app and look forward to keeping you updated as new vehicles arrive each month. We expect the majority of our new buses to be in service by the end of this year. A big ask, but one we’re committed to doing our best to deliver. As a business, we continue to lift our performance across each of our functional areas. We received confirmation in July that we had exceeded our punctuality target for the 2018/19 contract year and improved reliability. Equally, we have significantly reduced customer complaints and Public Transport Ombudsman Investigations over the last year. These are exciting results and testament to all the hard work each of you are putting in every day to improve the customer experience. We will keep building on these results in the year ahead and I know we will only continue to improve. Looking ahead, we have a number of important safety initiatives rolling out over the coming months:

>> Launch of the Smoothie Campaign to reduce slips, trips and falls on our service. We are looking forward to talking to you at the depot and on the road about how we can work together to tackle this issue. >> Launch of a range of health and wellbeing initiatives including Step into Spring (a walking challenge), free health checks and subsidised gym memberships. >> Continued focus on wearing a seatbelt when behind the wheel. Not wearing a seatbelt is a serious safety breach and will result in termination of your employment. We don’t want to see anyone putting their safety or their job at risk, so please always buckle up. Last but not least, we are looking forward to supporting our community partner MacKillop Family Services to raise awareness about the critical shortage of foster carers in Victoria during Foster Care Week in September. Transdev are firm believers in giving back to the communities in which we operate, so we are delighted to be able to partner with MacKillop, who do such great work with vulnerable kids and families. Thank you again for everything you do for our customers - keep up the great work. Ian Craig Regional Managing Director NSW & Melbourne

OPERATIONS
Let’s Celebrate With the first of our new buses entering service and some amazing performance results over the past year, we took the opportunity to say thank you to our incredible team of journey makers with a series of Winter BBQs in August. Thank you for everything you do to deliver an outstanding service to our customers.
Accessibility Session On Tuesday 30 July 2019, Public Transport Victoria (PTV) joined us to host a session at Southern Cross Railway Station to give our customers with accessibility requirements the opportunity to test out our new buses. PTV promoted the event through their network of accessibility groups, with around 30 people attending from Disabled Motorists Australia, the Department of Transport, Volgren, Gemilang and more. During the session, participants had the opportunity to test out a bus and receive a briefing on the design changes made as a result of the feedback received from our accessibility consultation session held earlier in the year

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE & COMMUNICATIONS
Creating Transdev Smoothies We want to create an organisation of smoothies and we need your help! Did you know that almost every day, a customer slips, trips or falls on our service?
70% of slips, trips and falls happen in just three locations – Doncaster, Box Hill & Melbourne CBD
While falls can happen for a number of reasons, harsh braking is the number one cause of falls on our service. To help us reduce the number of falls on our service, we are launching the Smoothie Campaign in September – a new safety campaign designed to help us share the facts about slips, trips and falls and encourage safe, smooth driving out on the road in a fun and memorable way.
40% of slips, trips and falls happen on just three routes – 901, 902 and 903.
Most importantly, the campaign is about listening to your ideas about how we can prevent falls and providing a forum for drivers to share their own smooth driving tips.
Slips, trips and falls are most likely to occur between 11.00am – 1.00pm and 3.00pm – 4.00pm.
We’d love to hear your tips on how you prevent slips, trips and falls when you’re out on the road so join us for a smoothie and let’s talk! When will the smoothies be in my depot? North Fitzroy Wednesday, 18 September: 10am-2pm Doncaster Tuesday, 24 September: 10am-3pm Sunshine West Wednesday, 2 October: 11am-2pm Thomastown Wednesday, 9 October: 4.30am-6.30am Keysborough Wednesday, 16 October: 4.30am-6.30am Heatherton Tuesday, 22 October: 11am-2pm

Seatbelts have been proven to reduce the amount, and severity, of injuries a person may experience in a motor vehicle accident. Visit the Company News section of the app to see Daniel Head, our Head of Operations, demonstrate why seatbelts are such a critical part of our Park Brake Warning System and how the simple action of buckling up can save your life. WHY DO I HAVE TO WEAR A SEATBELT?
Giving back to the community Transdev believes in building strong community partnerships and giving back to the communities in which we operate. Over the years, we have supported many not-for-profit organisations locally and nationally. We are excited to be working with MacKillop Family Services over the next few months on a number of different projects. Our first project with MacKillop will be to support them to promote Foster Care Week in September this year. Victoria currently has a critical shortage of foster carers. MacKillop works hard to recruit, train and accredit foster carers to provide safe and supportive homes for kids who cannot live at home temporarily through no fault of their own. Kids come into care at all ages, from babies to seventeen year olds, across all cultural, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. Kids in foster care have typically experienced some form of trauma.
1. By law, everyone must wear a seatbelt in Australia. 2. Wearing a seatbelt is critical to ensuring your safety while out on the road or in the depot. 3. Seatbelts are installed in all of our buses and are a key part of the Park Brake Warning System (PBWS). The PBWS has been installed to prevent the bus from rolling away. When you don’t wear a seatbelt, the PBWS does not work, which also puts our passengers and other road users at risk. BUSTING SEATBELT MYTHS Myth: I can just hold on to the steering wheel in an accident. Fact: The forces involved in an accident are massive and only a seatbelt is strong enough to hold you in your seat.
IN THE NEWS
Lead by Example: Promote a Safety Culture by Buckling Up
Myth: I don’t wear a seatbelt because if there is an accident I’ll be trapped. Fact: Your chances of getting out improve if you remain conscious, which is far more likely if you are wearing a seatbelt. A seatbelt can reduce the likelihood of injuries by 60% and therefore improves your chances of getting out. Myth: If I don’t wear a seatbelt, I won’t get caught. Fact: We regularly conduct on-road assessments and have identified four drivers in the past month driving without seatbelts. Myth: It’s not a big deal if I get caught not wearing a seatbelt Fact: Driving without a seatbelt is a breach of company policy and will result in termination of employment.
During foster care week this year, we will be supporting MacKillop to raise awareness of the need for foster carers through digital billboards around Melbourne, onbus advertising and other support. We will also be fundraising to support their work.
Myth: Not wearing a seatbelt only impacts my safety. Fact: Wearing a seatbelt is a key part of our Park Brake Warning System. The PBWS has been installed to prevent the bus from rolling away. When you don’t wear a seatbelt, the PBWS does not work, which also puts our passengers and other road users at risk.
If you are already a foster carer and you’d be happy to share your story during foster care week, please let us know by emailing: melbourne@transdev.com.au or contacting our Customer Experience & Communications Team via your manager.
Myth: I only drive at low speeds, so wearing a seatbelt is not important. Fact: For someone not wearing a seatbelt, a crash at 40km/h is like falling from a two storey building onto concrete. The best drivers in the world can be involved in an accident through no fault of their own, so always remember to buckle up!

Always buckle up. DON’T PUT YOUR SAFETY OR YOUR JOB AT RISK.
Did you know that every year in Australia, 40 heavy vehicle drivers lose their life in accidents when they are not wearing a seatbelt?
Wearing a seatbelt not only doubles your chances of surviving a serious crash, it is:
the law and company policy
assists you to maintain control of the bus
an important part of our park brake warning system to prevent bus rollaways.
Not wearing your seatbelt is a serious safety breach and will result in termination of your employment. Please make sure you and everyone else gets home safely by always buckling up.
